Nemesis gets quite busy on the weekends. We stopped by just after they opened, which gave us time to look through all the delicious pastries in peace and place our order in. By the time we were done eating, the entire space had filled up and there was a line of at least 10 people waiting to order. The space is very open and beautifully decorated. I loved all the plants that they have around. But it's definitely better in the early morning when you can actually enjoy it all. We ordered some breakfast items, coffees, and pastries. Everything was on par with nemesis standards so it was quite enjoyable. The staff were very friendly and helpful, especially in the beginning when there were fewer customers. As the place got busy, it got a bit hectic and some times they would accidentally deliver items to the wrong people. We had a great time and left before it got even busier :)

I like the flat white here. Busy place with many locals. The pretty decent size parking lot was full when we arrived around 515 pm on a weekend. We were lucky to get a spot. Inside, we also managed to snag a table. It was super noisy with many conversations all around. I had the flat white which was made pretty well. The Earl grey canele with lemon curd was ok. Not the best tasting. The pistachio swirl was better. My friend recommended the cookies. Next time. The baked goods are baked in house or from their bake shop. Not from other bakery, I check.

I have the fortune of living literally around the corner from the Nemesis location at Surrey. I've been thinking about checking it out for a while. Naturally, I headed out to Coquitlam to check out that location instead. It seems like Nemesis will always be popular. Got to take into account a modest wait time. The store itself looks quite nice and modern. The pastries all look quite nice and appealing. I ordered a flat white and also got the matcha canele. It looks like you can substitute regular milk for oat milk on all drinks. The canele was tasty and not dry in any sense. The flat white was quite nice as well to drink. I'm not a coffee expert so I can't how great it is compared to other places. I liked my stop at Nemesis. I'm definitely going to head back to any of the locations in future. The bakery items just look too good to not try them all at some point.

I ordered the ube matcha iced latte, and a strawberry pistachio danish. The latte was perfectly balanced with both flavors and my only complaint was that they didn't offer more than one size option as I would have loved to have a larger cup. The danish had a good amount of filling, but I wish that it was spread out more to the edges. Although we decided to sit outside on their patio, we still recieved amazing customer service. They adjusted the table so that it would be more in the shade, and they automatically brought out waters for us and our dog without us having to ask. I had assumed that the patio seating was basically ordering take out, so I was really impressed that the staff went above and beyond my expectations.

Very beautiful and bright cafe in the Tricity Pavilion. It's a bit noisy but outside seating is available They share the space with Gigi's The cream croissants were sold out by 2pm, so we got the Banana bread and the strawberry and Pistachio Danish ($6.75), chocolate cashew cookie ($4.40) and Brown Butter Banana cake ($5.75). Thanks cafe was packed so we took the pastries togo. Will come back to dine in another day. . Great addition to the Coffee and pastry scene in the area.

First time at nemesis and has such a great time! Tried out the Matcha Ube and it was so tasty! Love that you can change to oat milk for no extra charge too! Also had the pull apart bread which was really flakey! Can't wait to revisit and try out Gigi next door!

Ambiance and Decor This large rectangular structure is located right behind the Superstore on Lougheed near Coquitlam Centre. I am not sure if this is a temporary or permanent structure part of the new development. Its modern, sleek, window-a-plenty, and Scandinavian-ish design is quietly nestled in a thick bush to hide its noisy neighbors (the trains). The intention behind the stone floors, an indoor tree, stone, fabric, and leather chairs is that I hope all stand the test of time through a high volume of patrons passing by. Perhaps go to it soon before the 'newness' wears off. It is a seemingly large space: Nemesis is on the right, and Gigis is on the left. There is a central corridor which leads to the bathrooms, and a space to the far right with a staircase that brings you to a gallery (I am not sure if it's open or not). Service Quality Since it was their very first day open to the public, service was a bit slow - but that's understandable. Our server took our order at the counter, and she went through all the paces - making sure our order was correct, etc. They use a Square POS - so tap away. We ordered 3 sandwiches, 2 pastries, 2 coffees, and 1 matcha/specialty drink - we waited perhaps around 10 minutes for our entire takeout order. So props to the kitchen and the baristas for working so quickly. Menu Variety In comparison to their other locations, it's pretty much the same menu. Perhaps 2-3 of their food items were not there. I hope in the future they extend it to the same size as their other locations. Their kitchen is sizable. I hope they have adequate equipment and staff to take on a couple more items. Their pastry case is full of their regulars. I always try a banana bread whenever I see it - and of course, their pastry program is top-notch. I would've liked it a bit more baked, but the flavor is there, and the icing is something I can't complain about. One thing I saw were their matcha caneles - they looked delicious. I'll grab them next time. The menu items we grabbed were 'The Supreme', Avocado Toast, and their Bodega Sando. You can never go wrong with a croissant-based sandwich filled with mortadella and a mustard aioli, and never forget the runny egg. The Bodega's potato bun is to die for. Its soft and pillowy consistency, again with bacon, egg, and a jalapeño aioli, is truly a breakfast gem. Strangely good, their Avocado toast - has a pea smash on top - it brought out the sweetness and saltiness of both the avocado and the sourdough. Drink Selection They have their full coffee and tea menu. They have one coffee on 'tap'. Nemesis is known for their coffee, and you can never go wrong here. Their ube matcha is good - make sure you stir it to ensure you taste both the ube and matcha. If you don't, it's pretty much ube milk. They only have oat milk available as an alternative - too bad there is no almond milk available. When I was there, they had 3 people on drinks, and hopefully, this is enough for the high volume they'll experience over the next few weeks. Overall Experience and Recommendation Overall, I would defs come here again. I personally got there right when they opened - as there is a learning curve, their staff may take some time with your order, so be patient. Would I come out of my way to go here? No. Go to the one that is closest to you - everything is exactly the same quality. Yes, it's a nice brand-new interior, but save your time commuting out to Coquitlam if you're coming from Vancouver or elsewhere.

i went to try the matcha ube because i've seen pictures and the purple ube latte art looks so beautiful on the green matcha. it's $8 though so i was expecting something really good. as you can see in the picture the latte art is..well yeah. not sure if they gave up or was trying to go for a heart (like the nemesis logo) but it reminded me of a LOL i will say though, it was one of the best matchas ive tried in vancouver. not bitter, but also not too sweet. the ube didnt overpower the matcha. those two flavours blended together so well it was like a match(a) made in heaven! i've also never been to a cafe like this before. the interior is so well designed and decorated it felt more like an art gallery-i could tell they put a lot of thought into making it feel spacious and cozy. it also helped there was an art installation upstairs we could check out. overall: a very unique experience, would definitely go again but only for special occasions
