Vegan chocolate cake and decaf latte
    Carolyn L.

This place got busy after dinner hours. Bingsu seemed to be the popular item as almost every table got one. I liked that there were two sizes available (single and bowl). My friend liked the cake and got more to go. I had the dalgona latte and it was good. The cakes did look very tempting. The place is fairly big and can accommodate big groups. Parking is terrible as the lot is always full. Too many restaurants in the plaza.

Been ages since we've had bingsoo at Passion8. They were packed on a Monday evening. Besides Korean shaved ice, they also offer cake slices and macarons. Shared a honey berry bingsoo ($14.95 single) and chocolate cookie dough cake ($7.25 slice). They still layer the shaved ice, texture is smooth. Cake wasn't too sweet. 3.5 stars.

We stopped by for dessert after eating dinner in the area. We were a large group and managed to be seated at their largest table available. I felt the space was small for how packed this cafe ended up being. I decided to order a tea and an order of Injulmi flavoured walnut cake (Hodu-gwaja). Unfortunately, they gave me the wrong order first and I had only the red bean version. They were quick to replace it with the correct order and I ended up with extra walnut cake. They use some quality tea bags. I have had better walnut cake elsewhere. These tasted cold and premade. I found the tea to be more enjoyable than my dessert choice. Service was fast and good. No complaints on the service. My main complaint is the parking on the plaza is very challenging. It took us quite some time to find a spot.

Server was very accommodating and sweet. Desserts were served fast and have exceeded my expectations. Place was quiet came in around 3:30pm. A good place for desserts.

Awesome spot that can get pretty busy. The staff were very sweet and lovely. Service was great too. Tried the injeolmi and red bean sulbing. Perfect after greasy Korean BBQ next door.

They have very casual and cozy interior. Nothing fancy but comfortable enough to be seated wide distance apart at times of COVID. I m sure its packed otherwise as they serve fabulous deserts along with all other baked goods and lunch sandwiches. Coffee is great and refreshing in taste. Other drinks like teas and bubble teas are also served. Must try is the patties. I am gonna go back for more yum stuff for sure. They have long opening hours too but check before you go just because of the current situation.

We often visit Passion 8 at the Cambie location and it's our first time visit North road store. Shaved ice still delicious and the red velvet cake is my new favorite. Surprisingly, the cake isn't too sweet, but moist and rich. Love it so mich amd it's good to pair with Americano.

I'm so glad Passion8 opened a new location near Lougheed Station! Passion8 is another one of my favorite places to get shaved ice. They have 2 other locations in Vancouver, but this was too far for me, as I live in Coquitlam. Passion8 serves bingsoos (essentially shaved ice with toppings), toasts, and drinks. I've been to the Vancouver location before, but this was my first time going to the Coquitlam one. I ordered the matchacha snow mountain. They come in two sizes, Single ($8.50) or Bowl ($12.50). I've tried the larger size before and it was too much for 2 people to share, so I recommend getting single if you're not that hungry. The matcha bingsoo is topped with Japanese matcha powder, mochi, and red bean. I really have nothing bad to say about this bingoso, other than I didn't like the whipping cream on top. The shaved ice was light, fluffy, and sweet. The matcha powder was sprinkled just the right amount (I've had experiences where there was too much and would make you cough). The mochi was a bit flavorless, but paired with the sweet red bean and matcha powder, it was perfect. I also liked how they layered toppings in between, as well. Ordered caramel macchiato with soy milk and bing soo. Coffees/lattes were pricy in general but flavourful and nice espresso grade. Bing soo were delish as well. Size-wise on the smaller side than sul bing soo nearby. This branch of Passion8 was a bit darker in lighting than the original branch as no windows/sunlight. Cute simple deco none the less. Recommended.

    Strawberry blossom bingsoo

One of the best bingsoo I ever had, strawberry flavour in each bite, even at the bottom Service was quick and it can get busy but there are lots of spots to chill and wait. Better than Snowy Village 100%. Would recommend to get with your friends or a cute date.

Service: 5/5 Friendly, quick to cater, helps customers understand what's what. Dessert: 4/5 Not too sugary & not too sweet. Playful combination of ice, condensed milk & whatever toppings. Awesome for a light dessert between 2.

First impression was that the layout of the store was not very well thought out. There was very little standing room for those waiting to be seated. The interior looked spacious at first, but the space could have been better utilized in terms of seat placements. I am happy to find the food quality is on par with the Vancouver location. However, the expensive pricing does not belong in this neighbourhood. $9 for a small bingsoo is acceptable for the quality. I find Passion8's bingsoo to be more elegantly flavored compared to Snowy Village. Keep in mind that there are a few hidden gems for bingsoo in the area that are more reasonably priced. I am a huge cheesecake fan. What baffled me the most was how they priced their cheesecake: $10 for one small slice, $40.40 for a whole cake (assuming 6 slices and approximately 4 inch diameter). Their single slice looked smaller than cheesecakes at other dessert places. On average, I pay $7-8 per slice for a very high quality cheesecakes. There is even a Japanese bakery in Port Moody that would sell a better plain cheesecake at more than half the price of Passion8. While I understand that they are trying to be a "chain", and don't want to change their prices from the mother store, this kind of pricing is a bit ridiculous here. Contrary to the mother store, this cafe's ambiance is much less enjoyable. It was very loud, with customers dragging chairs across the cafe to make more seats for their table, young children screaming, etc. I don't even remember if there was any music playing because of how loud it was. It reminded me of the chaos I experienced years ago at Snowy Village in Richmond (before they opened the second store on Robson). There was no AC when I went to the store, instead, they kept the back door, which faces North Road, opened to provide ventilation. Unfortunately, that also let in the traffic noise. I would say it's more of a loud, dessert "bar" than a "cafe".

Such fantastic news to have Passion8 in the burquitlam neighborhood! Love their bingsoo! The Tirimisu flavor is definitely one of the best! But we opted for the matcha flavour this time and loved it just as much! It wasn't too sweet and the little rice puffs inside the bingsoo was a really great addition to the matcha and red bean! Really tasty and great texture! It's the perfect summer treat!

Pull apart was lighter than I expected. Other place's pull apart was so buttery, cheesy, however, this one was flaky and buttery, so, if you prefer light texture pull apart, you will like it. Cream cheese filling was nice accent. Pistachio loaf was more dense than I expected. It had pistachio whipped cream on top, so, cream helped loaf texture more smooth. Loaf had strong pistachio flavor. I liked whipped cream and loaf combination. Pesto and mozzalera swirl was a bit too salty for me. Dough was super flaky and buttery, I liked the dough texture so much, but filling could be more minder. Unfortunately, I did not have ferrero rocher danish. I heard that this one was the best. Mousse was so delicious and dough was very flaky and buttery. Overall, I think their pastries are always outstanding and good quality. The place was extremely busy and could not get a table. Next time, I wish I could dine-in.

It was pretty busy on a Saturday afternoon with only bar seating available initially, but not too long after some sofa space opened up. I was OBSESSED with the ube matcha, I learned from the super awesome barista that it's sweetened with mango puree. This was absolutely my favorite matcha I've had in a while now and my only disappointment is they don't offer larger sizes for it. The smoked salmon bun was pretty small for $10, I also didn't think the flavors were meshing well. Also found the pull apart stuffed cream cheese croissant a bit misleading. I pulled it apart and there was barely any filling unfortunately. Definitely a cute and inviting spot to grab a drink and stay a while. I wouldn't go for food food here though. Also I have yet to try, but maybe a dessert item here would be more worthwhile.

What I got Banana Bread Croissant Flaky layers wrapped around rich banana bread, dark chocolate, and a sprinkle of toasted coconut. I visit here very often, however, I haven't bought croissant for a while. This special item's dough was not buttery and crispy texture as before. It was a bit too light and airy. And Banana bread filling was very thin slice.. Not sure their patisserie chef or recipe has changed I can't judge based on only 1 croissant, I must try other croissant item to compare.

Unfortunately, its quite hard to find marzipan in the lower mainland. So you can imagine that I was quite excited when I saw they had one on the menu. At first glance the chocolate drizzle on top looked too little, but it was just the right amount. The all butter croissant was perfectly flaky. I heated mine up in the toaster oven for a few mins. The amount of filling that was inside amazed me. However, it would have been more enjoyable if it was more spread out, instead of a "log" of filling. Also, after warming up the pastry, the bottom was extremely oily. So oily that it was literally dripping. The meringue on the Lemon Meringue Bar was a bit deflated and dry. The lemon flavor wasn't overly powerful. The Mango Bar, mango flavor was very mild. I would have liked to taste something a bit more prominent. Also, I didnt like thay they added so much sugar to the Graham Cracker crust. The Spumoni Bar tasted mostly of coconut, but the bar was super flavorful and tasty. The Cheesy Bar cheesecake texture was nice and light. The Fruity Bar was very tasty. Although I wouldn't say that it tasted like strawberry. I liked the crunchy texture from the white chocolate covered rice krispies. I liked the Matcha it could have used a touch more matcha, but I know not everyone likes a super strong matcha flavor. My top picks would be SpumoniBar, Matcha, and Fruity Bar. However, I feel that all of the bars could use more flavor. Additionally, I would like to note the fantastic customer service that I received. I had a dog with me and she has major separation anxiety. One of the staff members noticed us and was kind enough to offer to watch the dog while I quickly ordered inside. I would rate the croissants 4.5 stars, the bars 3.8 stars and the customer service 5 stars.
