We decided to go check out Goldie's, which seems to be popping up with more and more locations. Aesthetics wise, it's a bright large open space with lots of seating options for one to many. With light wooden tones, it's a light and airy joint. My friend got a hot chai latte and a gluten free pistachio donut and I got a raspberry vanilla donut with a cold strawberry matcha latte, light on the milk. I really appreciated how they accommodated my friend's alternative milk request and offered to add more matcha and strawberry while going light on the latte milk - great customer service! The raspberry vanilla donut was soft, airy and light in the dough and the filling wasn't overly sweet and had a great raspberry filling with real vanilla bean custard on top - delicious! It reminds me of Mello donuts. For two drinks and two donuts it came out to $24 including tax plus tips, which is a decent price point. Delicious light donuts, which is dangerous. I look forward to trying more in the future!

There has been a major casualty this year due to the Donut War!…read more What was one of my ultimate all time favs - Cartems - is no more. It closed shop earlier this year. I will miss it. Enter Goldie's Donuts & Bakery, with a new location in Metro Vancouver on Fraser St near King Edward Ave. There are other locations around Metro Vancouver & soon there'll be 4 Goldie's in total. This donut shop is spacious & comfortable - a great place to chill out at. It was quite busy when I went in & so the servers seemed a bit stretched. It was my first go at trying Goldie's donuts - but to be honest I found them to be - just ok. I'm going to need to go back & try some more. In comparison - Mello & Lucky's donut shops are definitely top notch in town. If you haven't tried the donuts at those spots, what are you waiting for!? The jury is still out on - best donuts in Metro Vancouver, but I know my two top favourites. What are yours?

Probably my favourite cafe in the neighbourhood so far. Warmly decorated space, calm piano music, seating with cute stuffies scattered throughout -- perfect for sitting down with a friend or your laptop. But the main event -- the donuts...! I only tried the Dubai chocolate, but wow was it good (really not sure what a previous reviewer was talking about...). Fluffy breading and tons of filling, and most importantly not too sweet. And so many other delicious-looking options to try in the future! Decent selection of drinks as well. I had the cloud latte which has sweet cream but was nicely not too sweet. Complimentary water provided, which is always appreciated. Very kind staff, including when a customer accidentally dropped and broke a glass. Steady traffic all Saturday afternoon, including lots of young families -- a crowd pleaser for sure!

We tried the Tiramisu, Chocolate, Strawberry, and Custard flavors…read more The Tiramisu was good, while the Chocolate tasted very much like Tiramisu as well. The Strawberry was okay, but the Custard was the best of them all as it wasn't too sweet. I felt the filling was a little too runny. I wish it had been a little more airy and fluffy instead. I've definitely had better donuts than these, but I would still recommend this place if you're looking for some sweet and soft donuts.

It's all self serve - grab a tray, walk around and choose exactly what you want. There is a ton to choose from- donuts, buns, bread, classic pastries, egg tarts, croissants, danishes... take it to the counter to pay and they'll box it up for you. They have a full coffee menu as well. Staff were very friendly. Lovely wide open cafe with plenty of windows and natural light. Not the easiest location to get into, but there's a turning lane off North Rd, and a parade with free parking above the restaurant.

There's so much hype around this place but I left feeling a bit underwhelmed…read more Their crème brûlée donut is the standout. The donut itself is soft and fluffy, the filling is nice and creamy, and the crackly caramelized sugar on top gives you that classic crème brûlée experience. It's good, but for me, it wasn't quite the type of donut that all the hype made it out to be. The other flavours were enjoyable; I do wish they were a little more innovative. It feels like there's room to be a bit more creative with the menu. One other thing was how quickly they "sell out." Maybe they genuinely do, but it almost feels like they simply make a very limited quantity each day to create that sense of demand. The location also doesn't do them any favours. Parking is difficult, it's right along a busy road, and it's not exactly the kind of place you casually stop at. Overall, the donuts are good quality, especially the crème brûlée, but I personally don't think they're worth going out of your way for.

The hashbrown bites were nice and crispy. Their doughnuts all looked enticing, but I picked the wrong one. I chose creme brulee, which had a hard icing on top. It was crunchy, which did not go well with the pillowy soft doughnut. I peeled the entire top off, but enjoyed the vanilla filling. Although I didn't like this doughnut, I could tell it was freshly baked and I would return to try their other flavours. There was only 1 woman working in the cafe and she was so friendly. The interior is aesthetically pleasing and seating is comfortable. I went early on a weekday morning so I was able to find street parking, however finding parking could be challenging, especially on the weekend.

Quaint little cafe with delicious looking pastries and drinks…read more The interior was quite small and the people queue-ing often clashed with the people sitting down eating. This wasn't a good experience for either parties. When we were sitting down, the lining up folks kept bumping into us and our drinks swished out the cups a few times. The pastries were somewhat disappointing as they were hard and dry. Either from the day before or over baked? Croissant is supposed to be buttery? I wouldn't recommend this place if you're looking for a place to chat. It's not a very comfortable experience.

I've been looking for a place to pick up fresh, tasty, breakfast bagels downtown....and Boooommm! Today it happened. Cute little pick up window you place your oder with friendly staff. Their Egg, bacon and Cheese Breakfast Sesame Bagel was awesome. I personally love the taste of honey dijon, and delicately spread on both sides was a layer of delicious honey dijon with crisp fresh romaine lettuce, tomatoes, juicy scrambled eggs and cheddar cheese on a fresh sesame bagel. It was tasty, it was fresh, it was filling. It was what I've been looking for and never realized I found past all the massive waves of croissant places drowning the breakfast market. Hopefully, this preference will find its own great wave and Vancouverites will have more options to choose from, because still we are choosing between a full on brunch and perhaps a premium croissant bakery, but reluctantly.
