This review is for the *service* department. Over the years I've had good experiences in the…read moreLeesburg store when searching for new appliances or ordering parts. Recently we had a service guy out regarding our washing machine. As I told the lady when I called to make the appointment, since day one we have done *all* the things we're supposed to for a front load washer - monthly cleaning with Affresh and wiping down the door, seal, detergent tray etc. We even opened up the machine to clean the drain pump. Yet it still smells. She said she'll send a service guy out to look at it and fix it. To start with the guy shows up and parks the truck half in and half out of our driveway despite there being a spot RIGHT there in front of the house. It would have taken him literally an extra 10 steps to do the right thing. As I answer the door I see the mail carrier pulling up and having to get out of the truck to deliver the mail. I went out to greet him and get the mail, apologizing on behalf of the Sterling Appliance knucklehead's parking. The service guy just stands there and says nothing to either the mail carrier or me. Lazy and thoughtless. Then he goes in the laundry room and after a very quick look at it, proceeds to tell me that this machine has clearly been cleaned well and they can't guarantee smells will be gone or won't return, only that he can charge me north of $800 to replace several parts today to see if that will help. I ask instead about replacing the drain pipe since that is the one thing we hadn't tried yet. He tells me he can't do that today because it would (suddenly) take a second person to pull the machine away from the wall to access the back of it. (Never mind we did that with one person to check the drain pump.) So, I'd need to pay for today, re-schedule and pay for labor for two people to come back out and that alone would run around $400 plus parts. Instead, I paid their service call fee and will not use them again because of this lazy, lazy guy. What a waste of time and money. Sterling Appliance, certainly you can hire better employees than this ridiculously lazy clown!

One lesson learned: If you're a "weekend-warrior, home-owner" type like me, DO ask how to load the paper SNUGLY into this beast, particularly if you plan to use thick paper like 20 or 36 grit. This machine is used by professionals. Homeowners will end up loading, re-loading and re-RE-loading heavy grit paper a few times before getting it snug (less than 1/32" play) on the drum. The good part: Once it's on snug, your paper can last up to an hour of continuous sanding! (1/8 inch or more of play between the drum and the paper results in immediate failure of the paper: Within seconds you'll hear a loud slapping of loose paper on a high-speed drum hitting the floor)

I was told by one dealer that I wouldn't be able to re-use my wood panel, to just throw it out. Reico helped me to find a dishwasher that would work with my panel, and then sent a contractor to install the appliance and panel. My kitchen looks exactly the same as it did, which I'm delighted with! This was done during COVID, so everything was done virtually. Mary, Michael and Danny were all wonderful to work with. I live on Patrick St (i.e., northbound Rt 1) in Old Town, a busy street. Although not completely eliminated, the acoustic inserts have made a noticeable reduction in street noise. The weekly morning visit by the garbage truck no longer wakes me, which is both a good and bad thing, given my employer's insistence that I show up at work in a timely manner on Mondays. Peter also installed "shade inserts" in my master bedroom's western-exposure wall of windows. On days such as today, where we hit 92 degrees, the inserts have made a noticeable reduction on my HVAC's demand. I suspect there will be a cost savings in cooling, but it's too soon to tell. More importantly, when I retire for the night, the bedroom is a normal, comfortable temperature, instead of the sweat box that I had before. The indows inserts have provided my home with a more comfortable environment; I suspect they will save me money in the long run.

I methodically went through 4 or 5 granite fabricators before I chose Bagi to redo the counters in our kitchen. He offered one of the lowest prices, he was fair and flexible, and he is a young guy still trying to make his footing in a competitive market. A few reviewers have dinged him for not always being responsive. I was upfront and said I do not hand holding like a lot of snowflakes in the DC area, but when I leave a message, call me back in a day or two. And indeed he was always in touch through out the process. Found the slab we liked at East West Marble in Chantilly who had a far better selection than the other supplier that I won't name here. Picked out the color we liked and the job was finished in perfect order 4 days later. Had some issues getting the old tops out because the builder super-super glued down the old ones, but they didn't even put a scratch on the already installed backsplash and left our kitchen spotless. I will be using them again for the bathroom tops next. Thanks Bagi for a beautiful job!
