We checked a few other custom woodworking shops and were completely underwhelmed by their service and overwhelmed by their prices. One Saturday morning we visited Eco Friendly and met Scott Petercsak. At that point, we knew we were in the right place. Speaking of the right place, when you pull in, it looks like you're entering someone's driveway. Go slow, admire the horses, and 300 meters further on, you'll see the kiln and sawmill. Wear your boots, bring your coat, and prepare to be amazed. This is a serious operation. Scott showed us at least a half dozen wood choices: walnut, oak, poplar, chestnut, it's just amazing. We chose two 8' walnut slabs. In two weeks, Eco Friendly cut them down, edge-glued them together, and finished them beautifully into our tabletop for $1200. We did not want live edge, but - if you do - they offer countless live edge options. In addition, Scott and his crew seem capable of designing and creating just about anything you can dream of.

This would cause the blade to pull and tear the grass instead of making a clean cut. I was very disappointed and asked if he used a 30 degree angle for the grinder, he acted annoyed and said 37 and half degrees! I figured it was useless talking to this guy as he was the master of his universe! It was obvious they don't use professional table mounted Sharpener because the edge was not uniform. It's really disheartening because I had high hopes for this place.

We are so happy with the new primary bathroom that Brightstar Design & Remodeling just completed…read morefor us! From the beginning, Sal and Anika were friendly, informative, and easy to work with. There was no pressure to make decisions, or sign a contract or move forward before we were ready. They were always happy to answer questions, offer advice, and share their expertise whenever we asked. Sal was true to his word that once we agreed on a price, there were no extra charges along the way. Once the project began, we got to know our project manager, Ishmael - and he is a rock star! We haven't done many large renovation projects, so we were nervous about making a mistake and doing something we would later regret. Ishmael was so patient, understanding, and responsive throughout the entire process. Just as importantly, he is extremely knowledgeable and has such natural talent (or a talent based on many past projects) that the catchphrase in our house became, "Ishmael is always right" and always one step ahead of us! Every time we had a concern, his guidance was spot on! It was so reassuring to have Ishmael to turn to - he was truly a pleasure to work with! The whole team was polite, professional and respectful of our home. They went above and beyond to protect our floors and keep dust out of the bedroom and surrounding areas, which we truly appreciated. They did a fantastic cleanup job at the end of every day. We couldn't be more pleased with the final result and we highly recommend Brightstar Design & Remodeling to anyone considering a renovation project!

We wanted to replace our laminate kitchen countertop with a quartz countertop. The kitchen is a U…read moreshape with a sink in the top of the U, then after the stove there is another very small countertop and another countertop beside the refrigerator. Here are the pros and cons: Pros: No pressure sales by informed salespeople in the store. They know their products but don't push for a sale. It was nice to not feel pressured. The stone is available in a storage warehouse right next to the store so you see the actual slab and not just a small sample. There is a good selection. After a 50% deposit, they schedule the installation at your convenience with a day and time window. They removed the old countertops, installed the new ones, and drilled holes for the faucet (we had it already) at the house. Cons: We received a voicemail message the day before installation changing the delivery from morning to afternoon and it was difficult to shuffle work meetings at the last minute. There is a seam at the sink we weren't told about. We assumed and should have confirmed, but we thought the U would be one big piece. It's not very noticeable, it's just not what we expected. We had them also install their 50/50 sink. It looks good and is really deep. For the plumber, the drains are at the back of the sink not in the middle. My husband had to reconfigure the pipes to make this work so it wasn't a simple installation. (They don't hook up the sink.) Overall, we're happy with the countertops. The installers were nice and professional. Once done, they used our shop vac to clean up.

On August 19, 2026 we signed a contract with A. J. Carpet & Flooring in Gainesville,Virginia for…read morethe purchase and installation of 1,654 feet of french oaks floors (66 boxes). When we selected the product, we had samples from 3 different vendors, and none of the samples of the same product showed large knots like the ones we received. On August 27th the boxes were delivered to our house. We opened 2 boxes and checked some of the planks and they looked acceptable. The installation was scheduled to start on July 31, 2026. The first day of installation the 3 member crew arrived at 8:00 am. They placed long sheets of plastic in the entrance to the kitchen and formal dining and living rooms to keep the dust from spreading. We were confined in the kitchen area, so we couldn't see what was happening with the installation. Around 11:00 am, on our way to the bathroom, we see the foyer, half bath and living room floor installation for the very first time. We couldn't believe what we were seeing. The installers placed the largest knots in the foyer. The first thing you see when walking into our home are the most unappealing planks. The planks with the bigger knots were placed in a highly visible area. Front and center, to the left and right of front door and coat closet. The planks don't look beautiful and balanced. I expressed my dissatisfaction. Who in their right mind would do something like this? Especially installers with 16 and 14 years of experience according to what they personally told us. What they didn't do was "Culling" which is a separation or sorting out of the wood boxes to remove boards with large knots and use them for closets and areas that are not highly visible. Alex the owner of A.J.Carpet. came over our house and tried to convince us that the planks were "beautiful and that was what people liked", in his attempt to gaslight us. He didn't offer any options, a fix or any solution to address any on our concerns. Thereafter, the installer separated and distributed the planks as they shoud had from the beginning, resulting in a more acceptable installation for the remainder of the house. When the job was completed, the lead installer called A.J.Carpet to express our continous displeasure or dissatifaction with the product and installation. There also was a disagreement between the owner and the lead installer regarding payment for the installation which we shouldn't had been involved in. During this call, Alex, the owner was aggressive, dissmisive and spoke in an unacceptable tone to us. I went to A.J.Carpet on the 14th of September. He would not talk to me, saying he had an appt and he left the building. I asked him to call me and come by the house. We have not heard from him. To those reading my review, please be very careful when choosing a product and choosing the business. They are nothing but order takers and the installers don't take the time to cull the product.
