Took my lawn mower blade to get it sharpened. He took it inside and brought back the sharpened blade. However, he used a very coarse grinder that created almost serrated edges on the blade. This would cause the blade to pull and tear the grass instead of making a clean cut. I was very disappointed and asked if he used a 30 degree angle for the grinder, he acted annoyed and said 37 and half degrees! I figured it was useless talking to this guy as he was the master of his universe! It was obvious they don't use professional table mounted Sharpener because the edge was not uniform. Sterling mower did the best tune up of my mower that I have ever had. This is the second repair I have had at Sterling Mower. The first time I took an Ego blower that wouldn't work. They were honest enough to say it didn't make sense to repair the blower and that I should just get a new one. They did a detailed tune up, replacing a spring and lubricating the personal pace control on my Toro. I asked them to check the wheels because I had a problem with the drive wheels pulling to the left last summer. They reported the wheels were OK, a bit worn, but with some life in them. At other places a request like that would have been an invitation to replace the wheels. But they said the change would have been expensive. These guys are very honest and reliable. Issue: Having carberator issues with my Toro Snowbower. Attemtped to fix myself but after evaluating the issue I knew this issue needed an experienced technician to resolve. Turn-around Time: 14 days I've been taking my power equipment (chain saw, tiller, and snow blower) to Sterling Mower Equipment for maintenance and repair. Their diagnostic evaluation is always spot on, and the outcome of repairs is always positive. This tells me two things: competent experienced technicians, and quality control. I've not found a shop in Loudoun or Fairfax county that can match their abilities. Oh BTW...all their staff are polite and have good customer service skills. Nic and Phil expidited a part issue (not their fault) that delayed the completion of serivce, and stayed late on Friday afternoon to finish the repair so I could pick up the blower the next day. Sterling Mower Repair offers a valuable service to landscapers, and homeowners. It keeps landscapers service up and running which keeps our business landscapes looking professional, and reduces the frustration factor of busy people like myself who simply want to complate my chores on the weekend. I don't pretend to be an overly-handy individual. I am more of a "watch a pro do it and then try myself next time" kind of guy. Well, let's say I had a simple issue with my lawnmower and needed someone's help. I dropped by with it and was in and out in no time because of the extremely helpful staff. The team took a look at it (an issue with the actual frame of the mower) and made the needed fix on the spot. It was a very fair price and the bad boy runs like new again. Most places might say, "well you gotta wait a week because there's a line" but instead they looked at it and realized they had the equipment to make the fix within 5 min and figured to just get me in and out of there was better. I have used this place few time last year and today I found out that this repair shop charged me more than other places and after I complained; the guy at front desk through the money to my face and told me to go F***yourself front of other employees and they just didn't care. I gave them the money they asked for and I did not insult him but I told them that they would hear from me. However, I have contacted few companies that are using this place for many years and told them the story and hopefully they will no longer be using this place and you should do the same. I am giving a 5-Star review based on the initial phone call and diagnosis. I plan on dropping off my mower with a 2-week wait. Why? Based on comfort with speaking to Sterling Mower Repair. I feel extremely confident they know what is wrong and I am ok with it he turnaround time. I will update once I get the mower back. It sounds like my issue is common with a Toro Briggs & Stratton engine (stalling out after a while even with fresh gas). Fingers crossed! Update: finally dropped off/picked up. It was such a great experience. Why? They will answer any questions, talked to me about the particular mower and it really was a good model (just need tic ale care of it). I hesitated to leave this review, thinking "Sterling Mower Repair doesn't really need another 5-star review." But went ahead and did it anyway, as I wanted to emphasize that they do more than mowers. Thus far, I have brought them four outboard boat motors I bought used, and in three of those cases, they had them up and running smoothly in a short time for a reasonable price. (The fourth one was about 50 years old and would have costed more to repair than it was worth, even if the right parts could be located.) But it was that motor that was beyond repair, which got them the five-star rating. They gave me an honest appraisal and recommendation.....and then went a step further. When I expressed my disappointment that I was hoping to have it for vacation, and that even if I bought a new (used) motor, there would not be the two-week window required to have it serviced. They agreed to take a look at my replacement motor, do any minor tweaking necessary, and get it back in time for my vacation. Well as it turned out, it needed more than minor tweaking, but they indeed had it ready for my vacation.
