This review is for the *service* department. Over the years I've had good experiences in the Leesburg store when searching for new appliances or ordering parts. Recently we had a service guy out regarding our washing machine. As I told the lady when I called to make the appointment, since day one we have done *all* the things we're supposed to for a front load washer - monthly cleaning with Affresh and wiping down the door, seal, detergent tray etc. We even opened up the machine to clean the drain pump. Yet it still smells. She said she'll send a service guy out to look at it and fix it. To start with the guy shows up and parks the truck half in and half out of our driveway despite there being a spot RIGHT there in front of the house. It would have taken him literally an extra 10 steps to do the right thing. As I answer the door I see the mail carrier pulling up and having to get out of the truck to deliver the mail. I went out to greet him and get the mail, apologizing on behalf of the Sterling Appliance knucklehead's parking. The service guy just stands there and says nothing to either the mail carrier or me. Lazy and thoughtless. Then he goes in the laundry room and after a very quick look at it, proceeds to tell me that this machine has clearly been cleaned well and they can't guarantee smells will be gone or won't return, only that he can charge me north of $800 to replace several parts today to see if that will help. I ask instead about replacing the drain pipe since that is the one thing we hadn't tried yet. He tells me he can't do that today because it would (suddenly) take a second person to pull the machine away from the wall to access the back of it. (Never mind we did that with one person to check the drain pump.) So, I'd need to pay for today, re-schedule and pay for labor for two people to come back out and that alone would run around $400 plus parts. Instead, I paid their service call fee and will not use them again because of this lazy, lazy guy. What a waste of time and money. Sterling Appliance, certainly you can hire better employees than this ridiculously lazy clown! read more

We walked into the Leesburg store to inquire about a home appliance repair and the guy there was very friendly and explained to us the process of calling their service department, he also looked up the part and told us it was in stock. When we did call the service number, the guy who answered the phone was not very friendly, regardless we setup the appointment which was almost 2 weeks later as the part still had to be ordered from their warehouse or something. Why is it that is takes a week to order a part that is already local and another week to put the part in when they charge you double for the part and an exorbitant price for labor? The service tech arrived on time, called us 30 mins before our appointment and was friendly but struggled to put the part in taking almost an hour to get the job done. Overall we're happy that the repair was done although next time we may just buy a new appliance as the repair is almost half of buying a new machine with much faster delivery and installation. I am still giving them 4 stars as I know this is a tough business and we need to support our local stores, I hope they will take this as constructive feedback to further improve their service. read more

I went to the Leesburg location to purchase a new range and over the range microwave. After discussing my needs they led me to a combination that was perfect for me. Their prices are competitive with the big box stores, but here you get someone who knows what they are talking about. They were able to install everything quickly. The installers were incredibly efficient and cleaned up after themselves well. As long as I live in this area I will only buy major appliances here from now on. read more

We were in the market for a new microwave and dishwasher and went to the big box store and they didn't have anything. Happened to be in the area doing Christmas shopping and stumbled on Sterling Appliance. Walked in, purchased our items, and they were delivered and installed the next week. It could not have been easier. The Sterling Appliance team was great and they knew what we had with our old model numbers and we told them what we wanted. Game Set Match! my mother's refrigerator stopped working and due to meds, she needed a new one quick. They we're booked out for 3 weeks, but was able to squeeze us in because of the urgency of keeping her meds cool within 2 days.The owner himself came and delivered the fridge in her basement just to get the fridge to her on time. he was also able to provide a good discount since she is on SSI. Went to one of the big box stores to get a new dishwasher. BOTH times when the delivery guys showed up was told it would not fit. REALLY?! I was so upset, I called Sterling Appliance in Leesburg. Spoke with Jose. He was super nice and helpful. He hooked me up with a Bosch, and Andy, the installer came today. He proceeded to tell me that a full size dishwasher was what I had (34 inches) and that the store which shall remain nameless (though I would love to blast their delivery people) did not know what they were talking about - DUH?! I will NOT use that store again for appliances - EVER. The experience with Sterling was excellent, the two gentlemen that I dealt with were helpful and honest. I will definitely be going back to them when we need another new appliance in the future! read more

This was our first time buying an appliance from an independent dealer as opposed to a big store like Lowes. These guys were great! We got helpful advice from Joe at the Leesburg store. He helped us narrow it down to three different wall ovens. We were worried about George exact size to replace our current one. So they scheduled a technician to come out and measure to confirm. My husband had done research previously and we were ready to make the purchase. We drove to Leesburg and dealt with the service person there. Within 20 minutes we had ordered our new refrigerator. Within 4 days, we received our new refrigerator. The delivery guys, Andrew and Andre, were professional, careful, and polite. They removed the old fridge and installed the new one in about a half hour. You couldn't hope for a better experience. We needed a new dryer and were making the rounds to the big boxes to see what was available. We just happened to stop by Sterling Appliance. What an excellent idea! I had in my mind that I would need to buy a big expensive dryer to get higher quality. We were looking at dryers that were $800 to $1000. A thousand dollars for something I hate to use! And that's before we paid for the old unit to be taken away, added warranty and whatever else could be added on. When I told Rick at Sterling Appliance that I felt like I had to buy something expensive to get quality, he explained why that wasn't correct. We ended up with a GE dryer with expanded capacity, delivered, installed and the old one taken away for under $600. We could have easily been mislead and he could have easily sold us a more expensive unit. He probably could have sold us a washer without too much effort. But he didn't. He was truthful and straightforward. He was interested in our satisfaction and not in up-selling. We stopped here because we wanted to potentially give business to a non-chain store. We ended up with a good deal, excellent product and outstanding customer service. read more

I'm so happy having Sterling Appliance as a go to after experiencing multiple appliance failures during this time when so much is back ordered or out of stock. Recently they helped me narrow the choices for a dishwasher and clothes washer. The brands are mostly unfamiliar to me and the options are numerous. They helped me narrow the choices then I checked the reviews. They also stopped me from buying a clothes washer I had seen elsewhere that would have been a mistake. They were very honest about some of the models not being available and not to count on certain models being available soon. One of the other places I checked out for a dishwasher made it seem they'd be getting one of the backordered models soon. I love the new appliances and the installation/delivery in all cases went off without a hitch. They installed my new dishwasher so quickly I was stunned. Recently saved almost $800 on replacing our double ovens by going through Sterling Appliance instead of other big name options and it was such an easier process. That's a lot of money at any time, but especially for a less than $4000 project. We started with a different company. Two of the big name companies had the same (more expensive) price for the ovens. Started the buying process with one of them. (Would have started it with the other, but couldn't find anyone in the store to assist us.) Trying to get an installer out was a challenge and then they said it would be $600 to install! I remembered a friend saying she really liked Sterling Appliance so we checked with them. They had the ovens for $400 less and the install, quickly and readily scheduled, was only $150! This was a few weeks ago and the ovens are wonderful and working great. (My husband and I were nervous that it was too good to be true. He checked multiple times to ensure they were truly the same ovens and they were!) read more

I have used Sterling Appliance for many many years, both for purchasing and repairing all of our household appliances. Not sure what is going on in the service dept but, 2 straight times they have screwed up my service calls. Last week, after taking a half day OFF FROM WORK, I called at the very end of my service window time. "Ohhhh, there must have been a mistake in scheduling, we'll get someone there". Everyone is entitled to a mistake but, today as I am waiting for them to bring the part for the second call, I am the complete end of the window and I call to find out where my technician is to be told they are running way behind from a very long appointment in the morning. Well, it's now 4pm and the service call that put them so behind was in the MORNING and NO ONE could call me to let me know they were hours behind??? I left work early AGAIN for this crap? No more. These guys are great. Dishwasher broke the day before thanksgiving and we had a lot of company coming from out of town. I found the broken part and called them. They didn't have the part but referred me to a competitor who might carry the part. The other company didn't have the part but I appreciated Sterling suggesting them as an option. read more

When we moved into our house it had all new appliances, about 2 years ago, well our whirlpool dishwasher stopped working. After reading online about the problem and how it was very comon with my model I opted to not repair but replace. I am a big fan of supporting local companies so I started my search at Sterling Appliance at thier leesburg location. I was instantly greated by a great sales guy who knew his products. I had done research online prior to going in and pretty much knew what I wanted, but waited for the sales guy to tell me his recomendations and they matched what I had found online. I even tried to upsell myself into something fancier and more expensive and he said to stay at the model that we both first liked, he did recomend, and I did plan on, getting the extended warrenty. I finalized me order on saturday and had the dish washer installed on Thursday. The installer was also a very freindly guy and did an excelent job. Over all, I was very happy, even after I left the store I went to some of the larger B&M stores in the area and sterling appliances' price was the best. read more

Had to replace my Speed Queen washer and dryer after @22 years and visited on President's Day. I like small local businesses and avoid big box stores when possible. Bought both Speed Queens and had delivery scheduled the following Saturday. Fair price and good old time quality. With snow predicted for Saturday I called to beg for delivery Friday since Saturday delivery was sure to be cancelled. The Sterling and Leesburg store managers agreed to bring them after closing Friday night which they did!. You can't get better customer service than that. read more

I needed a new water filter cartridge for my fridge. I called to make sure the part was in stock. I drove out to the Leesburg store twice during published business hours and both times there was a note on the door that the store was closed for the day. I was able to order the part on Amazon for a better price with free next day shipping. So much for trying to support a local business. Call before you go and good luck with Sterling Appliance. Awful, awful service. We had to wait twice for someone to replace our broken dishwasher (with at least a month between appointments), and each time the service man showed up well past the time window of 9-12 or 1-4. Extremely annoyed with this company, which shows no remorse or guilt for missing appointments, especially after 2 people in our household took vacation time from work (because the wouldn't schedule a weekend appointment) in order to get this taken care of. The second time I had to wait for the appointment, I called to check on whether or not anyone was going to show up (at 12pm, after I had been waiting since 9), and the respondent at Sterling Appliance Installation merely confirmed he would be there in 15 minutes (which was actually 30 minutes), and then hung up on me when I expressed annoyance at the lack of following appointment times. Of course, Long & Foster uses this company for their renters. They are both have the same level of terrible service, rude employees, and blatant disregard for customer satisfaction. I would never use either of these places as a homeowner, and especially would never trust them to even attempt to take care of my house. read more
