DO NOT HIRE THIS COMPANY - If I could give them a Zero Star, I would. I hired Sun State Pools for my pool repair/renovation back in July 2025. I paid $30,000 by the end of September 2025. They were suppose to complete the repair in September/Oct 2025 and never did. I was promised week after week that they would be out to complete the work and here we are in April 2026 and my pool repairs are still incomplete - I have tried contacting them numerous times and they have ghosted me. No response to my emails, no answer to my phone calls. Please don't make the same mistake I did. I trusted them ​and all they did was take my money and run. Once I made my final payment because you are required to pay in phases in order for them to complete the work of each phase, they ignored me. I was no longer a valued customer to them. I will be filing a complaint on BBB and getting 3 on your side or other news media's involved with hopes that in doing so, I can help someone else avoid going through this terrible expeience. Really a 0. Where do I begin.......If you are considering using Sun State Pools--you may want to rethink that decision. We contracted them in December. our pool is still not completed. They seem to make up different reasons every week on why they are delayed. Here are some of the issues: They stared the patio----no work for 3 weeks, then 3 weeks later they finally came back and it still was not finished. They started the pool-then 3 weeks of no work then three weeks later they came back. Still didn't complete it. When they put the concrete in the pool their small plastic pool where they put in the cement stayed in my front yard for over 3 weeks--long enough for the HOA to ask if it could be removed. The pool was full of the workers trash, water bottles, McDonalds bags, for 3 weeks... They basically ignored me when I asked for it to be cleaned out . There was absolutely NO communication from this company. and they charged my credit card without my authorization. Their contractors they use speak NO English and you simply cannot communicate about what you want. The project manager assigned to us was a joke. Not sure if it was laziness or incompetence-or both. So 6 months later we are still waiting for the pool to be completed. This is a joke of a company and I certainly wish someone would have warned me about them. STAY THE HELL AWAY FROM THEM read more

We had our water line tile redone by Sun State pools and were extremely disappointed with their lack of communication regarding the job. Furthermore, they over estimated the amount of tile they would need by 4 cases of tile and refused to give me credit back for all that tile. They wouldn't even return my calls. This is very unprofessional and I will never do business with them again. read more

I hired Mike in end of Mar 2019. In his first visit he recommends that we change the water of the pool. That took couple of weeks to get done, I paid $400+ which included changing of the seals in my pump. After the payment cleared, Mike texts me that he won't be able to service my pool. Didnt get a reason as to why he decided to stop the service. I had pre-paid $99 for the first month of service which was essentially not done since we got the pool drained and cleaned. I am still waiting for my refund of that service as of today. While he seems like a nice guy, I do not think he is reliable. Felt like all he wanted to do was make a quick buck on my pool draining (mind you I paid for the water and electricity) and then move on. I will not recommend Sun State Pools to anyone - please do you due-diligence and you may want to negotiate paying for the service AFTER it is performed. read more

I own an Airbnb in Phoenix and hired sun state pools in December 2020. It started out great until they changed my pool technician a couple months ago. When they changed my technician they also changed my cleaning day to Wednesday, which is no problem. I have cameras on my property and it showed the new technician would come for MAYBE five minutes, if we were lucky, to clean. Our guests never mentioned anything regarding the cleanliness of the pool so I left it alone. However, the weekend of July 24th we had extremely bad thunderstorms and the guest that was at the house said the auto filler was pouring out water from the sides so they turned off the water. That Tuesday July 27th I receive an email saying "Auto fill needs to stay turned on" with a picture of our hose. I replied explaining the situation and asked why they were at our house on a Tuesday as that is not the agreed day upon to clean. They NEVER replied to my email. That weekend my pool started turning cloudy. I called them to see if they could have it cleaned before my next guest arrives. Surprise Surprise they didn't answer. I left a voicemail and they never returned my call. I sent an email and they finally replied and said they would send Mike, the owner out. Mike said the reason my pool is cloudy is because the autofill is cracked. I didn't understand how this would cause cloudiness but since he is the expert I agreed to get it replaced. He installed it on Thursday August 5 and reassured me my pool is now clean but didn't provide a picture. I took his word for it. 3 days later on August 8th I receive a picture from my guest and my pool is green (see picture). I tried calling Mike to ask why my pool is green and he blocked my number. Do NOT hire this company. They have no integrity and do NOT care about their customers. Save your money and go with a different company. I also wrote a review on Google and see the reply below. Yes...he said all the right things in the beginning..I needed to let my old service go after the guy asked my landscapers to cut down some bushes that were making his job difficult. Mike came in even after I stated "repeatedly" I have a "dirty pool" which means lots of trees and a tenant on site..he assured me he could handle it. My pool is a self-cleaning Shasta dive pool and even though we had a tenant in place we did take care of the pool ourselves and absolutely KNOW how it works. Well...after 1 year and my tenant moves out I am onsite daily for many hours and find it just doesn't look so hot. His vacuum (he now says it's not his..but believe me it isn't mine) barely covers 1/3 of the pool and when it is hooked up doesn't allow the pop up's to work right. The stairs are never, ever brushed and ever time I ask I get the story that the filter needs cleaning, the grids may be broken, the backwash valve is broken can't backwash etc. etc. Basically, I have the house going on the market and it never, ever looks like it's been vacuumed or stairs brushed. The final straw is after I get an email saying he is heading out on his honeymoon for 10 days (weather 115 degrees) and that he will leave extra chemicals etc. The pool turns yellow (no chemicals) algae is on sides and bottom is a mess. I am cleaning the pool every day so I disconnect his vacuum and sweep and skim and clean baskets 2xs a day. He returns and my workers say he was there about 30 minutes BUT when I get there 2 hours later the debris on the bottom of the pool and stairs don't even look like they've been touched. He tells me "your pool gets all the tree debris and it would take me forever to get it all up" ...UMMMM yeah..what do you think the conversation was when I hired you! He is defensive as hell and all I know is why pay for service when it continually looks mediocre even 2 hours later I want to clean it again? So..disappointed..nice guy but just like most pool guys they all want the business but once the job isn't a 10 minute in and out they half ass it. I have paid more and would pay more..just don't friggin start doing a poor job if you think it's not your easiest pool! When you have to ask for more money...just ask...because these kind of reviews show you don't know how to do business...same thing with the pump pressure..he tells me - all of a sudden after 10 years of running a pump at below 20 he tells me it's supposed to be between 25-30 for my pool..funny..you're the first guy to tell me that in 10 years!! As soon as I told him I would review he is surprised! Post script...after seeing this review he texted me that he was going to charge me for a filter clean - THAT HE SAID WAS INCLUDED and FREE and this last unacceptable cleaning yesterday (after his 10 day vacation). After talking to Mike, I was comfortable that he knew his business and he explained to me what needed to be done to fix my pumps and filter system.
