I called into sub devil auto today to get a quote for a oil change. I'm usually pretty nervous to go get maintenance on my car alone because i have experienced as a woman shady practices and overpriced services many times. A mechanic answered the phone and would not answer my questions but insisted a manager answers my inquiries. This is a normal practice for cal in questions and appointments. Michael came on the line and made me feel so comfortable confirming that they would look at my car and reassured me that they will take great care of my vehicle. He set me up with a appointment and ended the call. Simple but comforting. I then, get to the shop and I'm greeted by everyone in the main office. I was checked in right away they took my keys and got to work! For a Friday, and the amount of cars here..... they upheld their promise to begin my appointment on time. Someone was at the front desk to answer any questions as I waited for service. NOT TO MENTION they do a 55 point inspection and a free tire rotation for all oil changes. They quoted me a hour and explained all they were going to do and check within the oil change so I remained well informed. I have been to very many mechanic shops in the valley, some good some bad. But what I can say about Sun Devil auto is.... as I sit here waiting for my maintenance to be completed I'm watching all the happy customers come in and out. I'm seeing the true genuine passion the employees and managers have for their profession and the time they put into ensuring there customers are well informed and satisfied. I feel comfortable here. As a single mom, it's scary not knowing what could be taking place while someone is under your hood. I haven't even got my car yet and I'm 100% sure I will be satisfied. It's just a vibe. Normally I am the kind of person that continuously goes to the same places, but I decided to try out this shop as my car needed an oil change and I lived nearby. I am very happy that I decided to go to this location. The employees were very kind, friendly, and respectful. I showed up about half an hour before my appointment time, but they went ahead and started service right away. The exact price and expected time was explained to me before anything else, and the employees made sure to let me know about how much longer I had to wait (though I was in and out pretty quickly). I just completed a c service at Sun Devil Auto on Thunderbird and 43rd Avenue after reading some of the reviews on Yelp I was a little leery at first apparently the shop is Under New Management and I feel that some of the previously negative reviews are unfounded under the current management. I'm extremely pleased with my experience. AAA wanted to charge me $900 to replace radiator hoses and thermostat. I called them and they roughly quoted a much, much better price. They picked up my inoperable vehicle from AAA for free. Then they identified other issues, which I knew about and some that I didn't but I knew the symptoms these issues they saw caused. They fixed everything, my car runs great, and the total cost was considerably less than what AAA had quoted me for a single issue and AAA didn't provide me the option for aftermarket parts, which for this vehicle is appropriate for me, as I don't plan to keep the vehicle. I have gotten alot of work done recently at sun devil auto. They are running a honest business. I pay a fair prices to have a certified mechanic. Alot cheaper than the dealer and more dependable then the cut rate auto shops. Matt and bo give excellent customer service. Their head mechanic ben is a master mechanic. They even provided me with towing when needed. I wouldn't hesitate to late them work on my rsx or my wifes mini van. Good people and honest work what more can you ask for? read more

I was able to make an appointment and have my car worked on as soon as I got there. Had them do an oil change and tire rotation on my car for a really low price (check their website for coupons). Also, my wife's car was making a strange noise so I took it in. They called me back the same day and told me it needed new brake pads so I decided to get them. Make sure you ask them for all the options as far as parts and what needs to be fixed. They have to recommend certain things but that doesn't mean your car needs them urgently. Also, they usually recommend premium parts, but you can ask them about a cheaper option if you're on a tight budget. I've been to other mechanics in the area but after working with Sun Devil Auto, I think I'm going to be along time customer. read more

I've been coming here for years, however I will not be returning. On my previous statement the described a leak in my transmission pan which the simply recommended fixing asap. Immediately after servicing my car I began having transmission problems. A week or two into the issue i thought to check the level of fluid to find it was overfilled! I immediately contacted them to see how we could resolve it to have the guy entirely wash their hands clean and deny their involvement. Not only did they recommend fixing it but thwy must have assumed topping off the so called leak was a temporary fix for me. "Our guys would never do that" was his exact words. No other shop works on my car....With much frustration I contacted one of their other locations explained the treatment I received and they were much more genuine and attentive. They allowed me to bring my car in 15 minutes before closed, drained the excess fluid free of charge. Now my transmission runs dandy but from now on I will only be going to the location on Frank Lloyd Wright in Scottsdale! Just remember your mechanic is not exempt from making mistakes however how they handle the mistake speaks volumes about their customer service! read more

My daughters 98' Nissan Maxima developed a severe oil leak along the timing cover, & I brought the vehicle in to Sun Devil. Unbeknownst to myself, or the technicians there, the Maxima simultaneously developed SEVERAL other issues that clouded & exacerbated the initial & new problems. Mark & the crew at Sun Devil were very patient in their problem solving of the Nissan from Hell. And though the repairs took unusually long, due to the new & unusual complications, including the attainment of a vehicle computer that is no longer being manufactured, & a manufacturers technical known issue typical to this particular engine, Mark only had me pay the initial quoted price! And yes, I offered to pay more! That is unheard of service & customer commitment! I will continue to utilize Sun Devil Auto, & I hope you will take my recommendation & do so as well. I've been taking my only two vehicles to this specific Sun Devil Auto location for over 6 years. Each experience has always been a positive one. The staff is very accommodating and friendly. I am notorious for forgetting to change my oil so I tend to call asking for an appointment that day, and they have always done the best they can to get me in. I recently had them do my 60,000 mile service, and it was an affordable $70; they only charged me for the necessary services. However, all of the services provided by them were all general maintenance and tune-ups. I have never had any major work done by them, but I would not hesitate to go to them! read more

A few years ago, I would have gave Chris n the Sun Devil family 5 stars..The new owners or managers aren't as helpful, they didn't provide clear reasons for the work needed. Also when they did the diagnostic 3 times they kept adding new issues that were part of the sensors but after thoroughly doing my own research after they did 1 oxygen sensor, they didn't check them all..so I've been told when they did the diagnostic wrong..i say wrong because if you saw one was bad then you had to see the others were going bad at the least if the diagnosis was done correctly.. read more

I love Sun Devil Auto. They're always awesome. I just had 2300$ worth of work done to my '97 Civic and she now runs better than the day I bought her. The list of things I had done is huge and they had my car for less than a day. Dropped it off a little after 9AM and it was done before 4. Beau was awesome and kept me informed with what was going on and was honest about everything. The best part is, they don't over charge for parts or labor. The same work was going to cost over 5000$ at Firestone. They even took me home when I dropped off my car. He was a great and courteous driver. You guys rock! I'm definitely a return customer. Went in for a simple oil change and the guys found many problems with my cooper. Water pump was leaking and my serpentine belt was cracked. Happy they found the problems out before my engine failed. Turned out there was a nail in my tire, and the guys pulled it out and patched the tire and and had me back on my way within half an hour! Towed vehicle Into shop on August 4 2016 afternoon told manager Matthew Wegener that I had a fuel issue needed a fuel relay, Vehicle inspected tech confirmed it was a fuel issue, Kept wanting to charge me for diagnostic both manager and assistant manager Beau, Advised Beau if problems continue I will sign waiver to not find fault with 4322 W Thunderbird Rd Glendale AZ. 85306 shop...Beau finally agreed to do work with no diagnostic, All future customers or folks reading this understand I had no options now due to car not starting spent money on tow they were squeezing me For as much as they could... I was aware of this but kept my cool, Beau did a work up of charges approximately $150 dollars to replace relay...Told me they could not get it done on that day would be done next morning Aug 5 2016, The next morning I get a call that car started come pick it up it's not a fuel issue, I told him the contacts on relay are not hot in morning car normally starts in the morning or late at night when it's cooler... afternoon when it's hot or when car starting throughout day when contacts are hot is when it doesn't start... asked him to please put relay in he refused unless I did diagnostic approximately $120 charge, I knew car would not start that day when it was running getting hot had to go to work picked up car When picking up car Beau smirked at me as if you do it our way or no way... knowing there would be issues with starting car again... Sure enough car did not start once I got it to work. In addition in all the nonsense with manager and assistant manager forgot I left my 40 Cal Glock 23 gauge in glove box. When I opened glove box within 1/2 hour of leaving shop the Glock was gone stolen from glove box. Notified P.D as well as Corporate a Chris Doster called me said he did do diligence no one took gun, Yeah like whoever took it there going to say hey I took it.. here it is, Ridiculous, car was in shop all night had it out front when I came to pick it up, Like someone is going to unlock my door go right to glove box and take the Glock in front of shop with customers coming and going as well as employees on site..When I first walked in to this service center I knew this was a dump no A.C for customers lousy attitudes techs look like they hate there jobs. Just miserable, If car started I would not have walked out of there but run, In the end Corporate sent me to 67th ave and bell Sun Devil Auto which was a much better professionally run shop fuel relay was replaced no problem with that issue, Sun Devil Auto is a miserable failure at 4322 W Thunderbird Rd. location is run by unethical low morale individuals Mr Wegener and Beau are a poor excuse for managers. On top a thief working in shop. In addition Corporate should have compensated for stolen handgun magazines and copper hollow points along with Blackhawk holster, Mr Doster from corporate did nothing to try to make it right no wonder Sun Devil Auto has so many complaints against there service shops BEWARE of Sun Devil Auto 4322 W Thunderbird Rd. Hold onto everything that's not bolted down and be mindful of your wallet they will suck it dry. I understand service shops need to make a profit but charging for things that are unnecessary then abandoning you with car issues in the middle of the summer just because you don't want to have a diagnostic is unacceptable, Trash shop and Trash managers. The clutch in my vehicle was shot and had to be replaced, a lot of shops will not work on manual transmission issues, they did a great job my shifting problem resolved. I drove my car in to have it checked because it was driving funny. They offered a free check. After about 45 minuted to an hour they said it looks like your transmission and gave me some options. It was to expensive to do right then so i said i would look into it and get back to him. He said drive it home and park it until your ready to fix it. The gentleman in the lobby was told his car was ready and it was pulled up to the front. I was waiting for my car for awhile. I was then handed my keys and had to go search for my car. My car was parked behind the building which seemed insignificant at the time. I got in my car backed out and couldnt go forward. I addressed the gentleman that helped me and he said "maybe it just went out"and to "call a tow truck" In reality they pushed my car into a parking space and neglected to tell me anything about what had happened to my car. I drove it in and had to tow it home. This was a terrible experience. My issue was not with the diagnosis but the deceitful nature of not telling me that my car was no longer in working condition and letting me attempt to drive it home. Went in with the engine light on and a diagnostics from Auto Zone showing a sensor needed to be replaced - and even gave the price. When the diagnostics results were shown to the counterman, he shoved the paperwork back at me. I should have walked out then. $1000.00 later, the engine light was still on. At the time I felt fortunate I was close to Sun Devil when smoke began pouring out the front end. Another $500 and that was fixed. When reading other reviews for Sun Devil Auto on other sites, it seems a coincidence that cars returned after a few days often involved something wrong with the radiator. (Gotcha!) And in addition, the engine light is still on. I had my Nephew check it out and again did a Diagonistic at Auto Zone. My nephew, visiting from out-of-state (who has many years of experience with cars and car repairs) stated everything (except the need to replace the sensor) appears to be okay. He gave me tips on how to get the sensor replaced without getting fleeced. The first tip was to go to a different auto mechanic and avoid Sun Devil Auto. Took my son's car in for them to look at the transmission. We were told that "after driving the car it's not the transmission but the wheel bearing." (They send out transmission work and only ran codes, did not open up the transmission to see if there was anything wrong). Because we thought that we were going to save $1500 by not having to have the transmission rebuilt, we told them to go ahead and and do the work on the wheel bearing. Well that was $600! We go to pick up the car (this is a thursday) just before it closes and my husband gets in the car, gets 2 blocks away and notices the transmission is still having the same problems. My husband called and the "technician" had just left and won't be back for another week. We took the car to a transmission shop near our home and within 20 minutes of them having the car up on the rack they told my husband and son (as well as showed them) what was wrong. They showed them what his parts look like and showed them with new parts what they should look like. The transmission shop is rebuilding my son's transmission at the cost of $1800 (which is fair considering the transmission was toast), however, the $600 fee for a $150 part (which my husband could have replaced on his own) has eaten away at my son's budget for the transmission work. Horrible. I paid a lot of money to have all of my brakes replaced in April. By Feb, my brakes were squeaking. I took my car back to have them looked at and they said the brakes were fine. By May, I heard heavy, grinding metal sound when braking. I took the car back to them and they informed me that now there was metal on metal grinding. I asked them how that could happen between Feb (when I heard brake squealing and they said that there was no problem) and May. They said that they didn't know but wanted me to pay to have them repair all of the problems. The warranty wouldn't cover. I decided that it's better to take my car to a garage that I could trust going forward. Definitely NOT Sun Devil. read more
