I was a returning customer. My ac compressor quit on my 2007 Tacoma. Took it into Scott's. They said it would be $296 for a diagnoses. Told them I didn't need that, I knew the ac compressor was shot. Left the truck hours later they said it would be $3900 a 14 hour repair. Special parts needed to be replaced under the dash. I told them no way. I picked the truck up and they waived the diagnostic fee. Took the truck in to a local shop $1230 out the door for a new compressor and charge. I will not visit Scott's again! read more

9/10/25: Battery found to be a fail - recommended replacement. New battery installed (car is a 2023 Kia Rio 18,223 miles on car at that time) between 9/10/25 and 1/2/26 - no other services performed on this vehicle. 1/2/26: Battery service - per technician notes, positive clamp damaged not allowing for sufficient clamping force. I made an appointment for 9:am. My GMC Sierra 3/4 ton with the Duramax engine. All I wanted was to change the oil. At 3200 miles. I'm waiting patiently, one hour and it's still sitting. Finally they brought it around back. I saw the running lights on. It was just sitting there idling. I told the tech not to let it idle. This truck is new. But they're required to do a thorough inspection. Nonsense! I kept asking how much longer? Just a few minutes. Two hours and forty five minutes the work is completed. They didn't check the tires. The driver seat was moved. They offered no excuse why it was taking so long. I spoke to three other customers they had the same complaint. Poor, communication skills. Needless to say I won't ever use there services anymore. In addition, when I questioned why, he said it's normally an hour and a half. You never explained that to me in the beginning. Anything to get your money. Once they have your vehicle you're there mercy. read more

I recommend do not bring diesel engines here, they are dishonest. I asked Scott's Auto to locate an engine oil leak. The mechanic was having trouble locating the leak. So, they lied (Recognize I am also a mechanic). Appears the mechanic reached in to the easiest bolt on the timing cover, at the top, and loosed that one bolt, and then told me this is where the leak is from. I found this odd the only bolt that was loose was the easiest bolt to reach with a wrench. That being said, the leak could not have been from this location, because if it was leaking here, there would have been oil all over that location. Note, I knew beforehand, the oil was leak is from the bottom of the engine, not the top. Also, I personally just replaced the timing cover a few months prior (Aug 31, 2024) and I know I torqued each bolt to spec (18 ft/lbs). I decided to inspect myself and found the leak is actually from the Timing Gear Case Housing. Not the Timming Cover. Appears one of two options occurred: * Scott's honestly could not find the oil leak so they created a problem to justify their inspection fee. * Scott's wanted me to pay $2,000 for the timing cover (that was not leaking). Then after they started the project and have me over the barrel. Tell me the new cost is over $4,000 for Timing Gear Case Housing. I may be wrong. But this is how I see the events. I had a scheduled 10am appointment on June 26 - I got there at 9:30. My car was there until 4:30 pm - Nothing was done - Nothing. No one called All Day to get any permission for any work. I initially brought the car in for a leak and A/C issues. So, I am given an estimate for just about $900.00 dollar ( not including everything. I just spent $2,000.00 In April. Considering I spent $2,000.00 they charged $99.00 for shop supplies. When I specifically ASKED why my car was there ALL DAY - I was not given an answer. The next day I called the Manager to tell him I will No Longer be bringing my car to Scott's - because I no longer Trust them. I spoke with him for 42 minutes - I have been going to Scott's in Peoria since they opened - Once you lose "Trust" - it's Sad - This isn't just a one time issue - finally - it's time to say something/ do something!!!!! read more

Originally Tech One Auto, with whom I had dealt with for many years, I was a bit hesitant to try this business. However, much to my pleasure and satisfaction, Scott's has proven to be a wonderful place to deal with and I have the same confidence with them as I did with Tech Auto. My most recent experience was very successful. I did not realized that I had a lot of dry rot in my tires and Logan suggested, that especially for safety reasons, I get new ones, which I did. My oil light flashed on for a second on my way to the gym after the shop was closed. After arriving home, my husband checked the level and was very concerned about the fluid level. Rather than driving it to the shop the next day and risking damage, I called Tyler and he personally drove to my home with oil and a loaner car. He checked the level with me, showed me how to do it in the future, talked me off a cliff and assured me it was only down a quart. He drove it back to the shop and found that the oil sensor had malfunctioned and it was replaced. They changed the oil and added the necessary additives at no charge since I had recently had my O/C completed. Its running like a charm and the oil light is not longer coming on intermittently. The folks at Tech 1 Auto might have saved the lives of my entire family. I took our Grand Caravan in to get the oil changed just a few hours before leaving on a planned 1,000 mile round-trip family road trip. While changing the oil, the tech noticed that BOTH front tires had severe tread separation on the inside lips of the tires and one back tire had a nail in it. I had no idea there was anything wrong with any of the tires and would have hit the road with those tires heading for disaster. This place was great for my car needs. I had a problem with my VW Jetta. Other shops did not want to work on foreign cars or charged an arm and a leg.I called in and came the very next day. They diagnosed it at no charge. Other shops told me $75-90 just to come into the shop. Other places were a little intimidating over the phone and hard to deal with. They diagnosed it and gave me an estimate. Reasonable prices. Kept my car over night while waiting for parts and offered me a rental for only $10. They care about your car and getting it fixed while making things easy on you. The next day the car was fixed and everyone was friendly. I visited Tech 1 today to see if they would be able to replace the factory mirrors that I have on my 2015 Chevy Silverado with some towing mirrors that I had already purchased from a Chevy dealership a few months ago. In the midst of asking the receptionist if a technician would simply be able to give me a quote on the install, she abruptly interrupted me to refer me to Quality Bumper next door.. stating that "Quality Bumper is the accessories shop, not us". After trying to politely explaining that I already owned the mirrors that I needed installed, the receptionist then proceeded to advise me that Tech 1 was a mechanic shop and that I would need to go to Quality Bumper to have the mirrors installed, as they were the accessories shop. As I tried to explain that I simply needed a mechanic to install mirrors onto my vehicle and NOT to purchase accessories from Quality Bumper the look on the receptionists face became increasingly confused. Ultimately, I bluntly asked her if she even wanted to have someone help me.. to which she bluntly replied "no, you need to go to Quality Bumper next door". 5 stars for the customer service & care of this place. I brought my car in & was helped by a man named Tyler, who the entire time was so incredibly helpful & honest through this whole process. He explained the issues in words I could understand & he also showed true sympathy for the bad car luck I was having. I asked him what he thinks I should do & I feel like he gave me a truthful answer & wasn't trying to just get money out of me. Tech 1 offers a financial help program which I think is very cool cause I've never heard of mechanics doing that & car troubles can add up so it's nice to know as a customer they have that option. I ended up wanting to fix the bare minimum which was still a lot of money & then the next day when they were supposed to work on my car I realized this isn't worth it so cancelled the work last minute. The owner Fred then called me & I apologized for being so wishy washy but that I couldn't go through with paying that much money for a car that wasn't worth it. He told me he would still have to charge $920 because they already took apart part of my car & ordered parts, which I understood & was just going to take the hit for it. About 15 minutes later he called back & said he had been talking with Tyler & after learning more about my situation they both didn't feel it was right to charge me anything. I honestly started to cry, I was so happy that these men were just true, honest, caring mechanics. Fred also said when I go to get a new car that I can bring it in & he would inspect the vehicle for free to avoid me having future car problems. Fred is very friendly, having said that, please check around for prices, example an AC recharge is $167.00, but at the Hyundai dealership the same service is $89.95, even less at AAA. They said they repaired my AC on my car on Friday charged me $167.00, and it stopped working on Monday. This was a recurring problem after I was rear ended years ago. They offered to look at it but I told them I had an appointment and had to be out of there in 20 minutes max. I decided to try Tech One Auto for a basic service on my 2015 Mercedes, fully expecting them not to be able to turn off the service light, and having to go to the dealer anyway. These guys are way overpriced. They'll charge you $130 just for the inspection of a check engine light, then quote you far too much for the repair. Every time I've been in they'll find something extra expensive for me to fix. I got a cheaper quote from the dealership! I will never take my car there again. read more
