What a great dentist's practice! If I could give more than 5 stars, I would!
I'll start by saying that I've avoided seing a dentist for years. This isn't because I'm afraid of pain or having work done on my teeth; it's because I always had the strong impression that I was being upsold. My last dentist (who happens to be on the same block as Sun Dental) told me that I needed to remove and replace a chipped crown, and I might even need a root canal. When I asked about other options, he said there weren't any, that I absolutely needed this, and there was no other option. That just didn't sit right with me, so I never went back.
The same dentist told my husband that his bridge could not be fixed, and he'd need an entire new one. He also said he wouldn't even do a temporary fix, and that there were no other options but to replace it. My husband's bridge is for his front teeth, so having nothing there while he undertakes the process (and enormous expense) of getting a new bridge isn't ok.
That was when it became clear we both needed second opinions.
My husband saw Dr. Sun's reviews and decided to give his practice a try.
What a difference! On the very first visit, Dr. Sun not only fixed his bridge -- during the visit -- but he also set my husband up to get a temporary piece that he would be able to put in if the bridge ever broke again in the future, until he could see Dr. Sun, who'd fix it again!
Then I went to Dr. Sun. I'll be honest and tell you that eight years had passed since my former dentist told me I needed a new crown and maybe a root canal. But guess what? Dr. Sun said I didn't need a new crown at all, and I definitely didn't need a root canal. He was easily able to fix the chip in my current crown. That was it! I didn't even have any cavities! He also has the most state-of-the-art equipment I've ever seen -- years ahead of anything my husband has seen, too (and my husband hadn't avoided the dentist for eight years like I did! In fact, he'd just seen that other dentist across the street!) Dr. Sun does 3D imaging with his seriously cool machines, and I was able to see everything, so when he explained things to me, it was 100% clear.
Dr. Sun and his spouse took over this practice a couple of years ago, and I never would have thought to go there because the outside of it still looks run down from before it changed hands. DO NOT LET THIS DETER YOU! They've done lots on the inside, and it's great! You walk in the door and you're in a clean, comfortable waiting room that even has a gas fireplace going.
They're going to give the outside of the building a facelift soon, but if you're looking for a good, honest dentist who gives you options, don't wait! This is literally the best experience I've ever had with a dentist, and I have no doubt that others will feel the same way.
