Dr. Nydegger is absolutely excellent. I've been there several times and he does an amazing job and is really great with follow-up care!

The front office support staff just murders the experience. We booked an appointment with Dr. Nydegger to have some work done after a rather devastating accident that required facial reconstruction. The fact that this was a MEDICAL claim was disclosed and emphasized but the woman who answers the phone failed at listening. Rather than get an authorization from the insurance company, she called the referring dentist who disclosed that (because they are still filing with dental codes rather than medical) they are having issues getting paid. Of course they are, they refuse to follow simple instructions. They also violate HIPAA regulations by discussing the case outside of "need to know" information. One procedure being fought by the insurance company doesn't mean that all of them will be denied. Of course, we may never know since these idiots won't even attempt a pre-authorization. Anyway, the day before the appointment for the procedure, we found all of this out. The conversation went very badly simply because this woman who called just would not stop talking long enough to ask questions or try to get the situation sorted. She told me a lot about what they *can't* do. I get it. Nobody wants to work more than necessary and everyone needs to be paid for their work but the fact that she just wouldn't stop talking made it impossible to even discuss the issue. I've had more than a few root canals over the years. They are generally a whole bunch of "no fun". Time consuming and often painful, so I was dreading this appointment. Dr. Nydegger is a personable guy and definitely knows his stuff. He explained everything he was going to do. His injections were painless and my root canal was completed in about 30 minutes. Wow! I hope I never need another root canal, but if I do, Dr. Nydegger is my "go to". Great experience! read more

I am going to preface this by saying that I may be one of the few people who was actually excited to have a root canal. I was in horrible pain for weeks due to a broken molar. It kept me awake at night, and during the day I could barely tolerate the pain. On Thursday morning I broke down and called my dentist Dr. Michal Friedrich, who is also amazing. His staff got me right in, he took one look at my tooth and my X-Ray and sent me down to see Dr. Nydegger for a root canal. He fit me in immediately and I was incredibly grateful. I had seen Dr. Timothy Kim at the same office on two prior occasions before Dr. Kim moved out of state. So this was my first visit with Dr. Nydegger. He was absolutely wonderful. Despite the sorry state of my tooth, I had very little pain, and what I did have came during the numbing process, which he fully explained. He was very helpful in keeping me abreast of what was happening during the procedure and let me know how long it would take. After an hour in the chair, I was a new woman. That night I had a little pain but he prescribed a pain medication that has helped. I am very impressed with the root canal I received from Dr. Nydegger and could not recommend him more highly. His assistant Geizel and office manager Annette are also very friendly and professional. Don't be like me and wait too long to get a root canal. The pain won't go away on its own like I hoped mine would. Dr. Nydegger can take care of you quickly and nearly painlessly. read more

I had a fabulous dentist for 25 years while I was living in Alaska & had no fears what-so-ever of treatment. Since moving back to Washington 10 years ago I have had mediocre to downright horrendous experiences with dental procedures,which have left me anxious & reluctant to continue. Thanks to this office my faith in great dentistry has been restored! I had to have a second root canal & once again Dr. Nydegger came to the rescue. Very informative,careing,gentle & reassuring. This one just took one vist. Hopefully it will be my last one for awhile but if the need arises,I wouldn't go anywhere else. read more

I've heard many a nightmare about root canals over the years. For nearly 30 years I've avoided having a tooth fixed.  Dr Nydegger's recent root canal work on that tooth was amazing; a dream rather than a nightmare. He and his staff made me feel supported, assured, and comfortable. I am writing this review because I was terrified to get a root canal that was long overdue, and the reviews here helped me! I wanted to add my thoughts. I was sent to this place by my normal dentist (because I had nerve damage in a tooth), who said they were great and had some awesome tech (microscopes and what not for the procedure.) Dr. Nydegger was fast, efficient, and I am NOT IN PAIN any longer. Seriously, being able to chew on both sides of my mouth again is huge! My root canal was in the very back molar in my mouth, on the bottom. I was so stressed about how hard it was going to be and just nervous in general. I expressed my concern to the assistant and Dr. Nydegger, saying I didn't need sedation necessarily, but that I was nervous. I also have hearing impairment so I told them I was concerned I wouldn't be able to hear them, however, they repeated themselves as needed and it went fine. Dr. Nydegger said, 'I really don't think you'll feel a thing!' I didn't, *including the initial shots!* He was like 'You may feel a pinch' and I only felt pressure, no pain! They did say one of the shots might make me feel like my heart was racing for about 20 seconds, and not to panic, that's normal (SO glad they told me this as I was so nervous I was seriously doing deep breathing and that would have freaked me out.) Once I was numb, they got me ready and went right to work. It didn't take as long as I thought (the actual procedure, I mean--I was in the chair an hour but some of that was just waiting to be numb), and I had a bit of soreness for about 5-7 days, but I only needed to take a couple of ibuprofen when I felt I had issues! I followed their directions and stayed careful the first week. I wanted to wait until that had all passed, and I felt healed to leave this review, but I'm very relieved I had this done and don't know why I waited so long! The office even helped me with my insurance, letting me know that since I wasn't in urgent pain (it just hurt when I actively chewed WITH that tooth), if I waited one extra week, my benefits would reset so having the procedure done would be cheaper. They COULD have gotten me in that week, which was great, but since I could wait, I saved a bunch of money. Anyway, I hope this helps the next nervous nellie like me! read more

This is probably long overdue, but here it goes anyway. I was in Seattle this August after my root canal (that my former dentist in Vancouver previously botched) flared up. Normally I wouldn't drive 3 hours and cross an international border to get a root canal done, but I wasn't going to go to someone who wasn't recommended to me again (my Vancouver dentist had me in agony cause he just couldn't numb the tooth, so I had to stop the procedure halfway through). A friend that lives south of the border knew Dr. Nydegger, and had nothing but good stuff to say about his work, so I reluctantly decided to pay him a visit. My experience with Dr. Nydegger has been the best dental work experience in my life. He did acknowledge it was a challenging case (something to do with the way my root canal was positioned), but I never felt a thing and I was out of the chair in under an hour (compared to 2.5 hours my former dentist took). The 3 hr trip was totally worth it. read more

Brett came highly recommended by my dentist. A recent filing when bad as it was a bit too deep into the tooth--and what was a sore tooth became very painful over the weekend. Brett was extremely helpful and extremely professional. He got me in quickly for an exam and confirmed the tooth needed a root canal. I had one years' ago that was so painful I didn't want to go back to a dentist for years. (and screwed up some more teeth in the process). The past root canal was a molar which is tougher to do, and it was hard to get numb This was a few extra shots which got the tooth numb--and it was over almost before I knew it. Once it was determined I needed a root canal, my dentist referred me to Dr. Nydegger. I was not sure what to expect, seeing as i had never had root canal surgery before, but i have to say, other than the little needle stick, the procedure was pretty much painless. I was referred to Dr. Nydegger by my dentist for a possible root canal. I went in for a consultation and it was determined that I needed one right away. Dr. Nydegger was able to perform my root canal the same day, minutes after my consultation! I have not had a lot of dental procedures done, so he immediately made me feel at ease. I would not hesitate to recommend Dr Nygegger. He is a talented endodontist, following in the foot steps of his predecessor Dr Tim Kim. His knowledgeable front office person knows how to discern a red hot emergency from a lukewarm endo situation, and she will always find room for any patient in pain. We are lucky to have such a talented endo staff in Seattle. The parking downtown can be expensive, but the Medical Dental Building is conveniently located near most bus lines. Send your patients here for their root canals. read more

I was a little unsure about the whole root canal thing as my friends decided that it would be a good idea to tell their horror stories. I was totally taken aback by how great my experience was. The procedure itself was less than an hour and beyond the general unpleasantness of hearing a drill in your mouth there was zero pain. Back at home I took one round of Advil before the numbing wore off just as a precaution and braced myself for the pain to start as I got the feeling back in my face. It never did! I am completely stunned that I didn't feel a single twinge of pain after the reputation that root canals have. Nothing! I can't promise that you'll have the same experience, but I can say that I would go back to Dr. Nydegger in a second if I had a need...hopefully I won't. Dr. Nydegger and his staff are top notch. I have had to have a few root canals done and the ones I've had done at this office have had the best outcomes and the least amount of pain. They get me in on the same day and took care of all the insurance paperwork and prior authorizations for me. The assistants are very well trained and I was impressed with how kind and respectful the doctor is to his staff, saying "Please" and "Thank you" while he communicates to them his needs during the procedure. Dr. Nydegger explains things to his patients very well, provides options for treatment, and instills trust with his knowledge and expertise. He even met me back to his office on a Saturday to re-numb a tooth that was painful. His office manager, Annette, is amazing. She is polite, well informed with insurance billing and is always friendly and professional. She even called me to make sure I was doing okay after a tough procedure. Unfortunately for me, I have had a lot of dental procedures done in my 30 years and have sat in a great number of dental chairs. That being said, i was extremely impressed with Dr. Nydegger's speed, precision and flexibility in fitting me into his schedule just 30 minutes after my regular dentist sent me over to his office. His explanations were thorough and he communicated well throughout the procedure. It was quick, easy and made an unpleasant situation much nicer than it could have been.
