During the removal of a dead animal from the attic, he handled the situation in a completely inappropriate manner and threw the animal toward us instead of disposing of it properly. This was unsanitary and entirely unnecessary. Given the nature of this type of work, I expected professionalism and basic respect for the homeowner. That was not what we received. Based on this experience, I would not recommend this company and would advise others to proceed with caution.

It paid off in my case because I ended up scheduling with them to remove birds from a bathroom vent. I chose them because their webpage was so detailed about how they treat specific wildlife problems but mainly because they advertise a special vacuum for bird nests in vents. A man came out on our scheduled day. He manually removed a trash bag full of nesting and dead birds through the fan hole on the ceiling, placed a vent cover on the exterior & we paid to borrow a glorified air purifier as recommended. While he did negotiate with my bf on the pricing, we still ended up paying around $450 and never had our vent vacuumed. I'm positive there is nesting left behind. The website states that the affected area will be "disinfected with an insecticide and disinfectant to kill all the possible health hazards posed by birds in you vents." This literally consists of spraying the reachable areas with plain old alcohol. I did a good amount of the cleanup & disinfecting over the following few days as my bathroom was left a mess. I totally expected my vent to be thoroughly cleaned & disinfected as we had dead birds, bugs & all. I kept bags over the vent for months after because dead bugs were still falling out. I was not at home for this service so I called shortly after the visit to inquire about the vacuum since that is the main reason I chose them AND specifically asked for it when scheduling. I let him know bugs were still falling from the vent. In so many words I was told the employee who scheduled my appt gave me the wrong info and no longer works there. What!?! I can't properly express in print how shady that convo was. He said I would have to shell out an additional $250 for the vacuum. No thanks. Not only because I did not receive the service I requested but because of your super shady explanation. While I'm very glad to of had the main issue resolved, I will never use this company again and recommend for others to do research. They have low stars for a reason.

My house was purchased the year before, and it was inspected then by a different company and it was termite free. Then I call Southern Pest Control Fredericksburg to come and spray, and they agreed to do so, pitching this warranty. Then a rep came out to inspect, and after spending some time in my crawlspace, seemed to not understand that the concrete foundation was wrapped and that the wooden areas are shown above this foundation. He said he would not warrant this house because the crawlspace was wrapped, and said: no warranty, no service. Say what? Someone else said they only come out when you see a bug. Huh? That's reactive. I need a preventative approach, and Southern Pest Control ain't it.

After 3 years, I just terminated my Virginia Green contract. I started with them in 2024 and…read morethought they did a good job keeping the lawn green throughout the year. In 2025, everything went well until late July, when just after a fungicide treatment, I began to notice brown patches throughout the lawn. When I spoke with our area manager, he said that I had a disease in my lawn, to which I pointed that Virginia Green was getting paid to keep disease out of my lawn. Throughout August, the problem got worse, to the point where 75% of the lawn was brown. He assured me that once I aerated and overseeded, and with the cooler temperatures, the lawn would return. He did a soil test and said the lawn needed lime. He gave me two bags of the Virginia Green grass seed and after lime, compost, aeration and overseeding, by late October, the lawn was starting to fill in, although there were still a few brown patches. In 2026, I continued to use Virginia Green, and the entire lawn was green, full and did look good, although a sunken area in the front yard that I filled in with dirt in 2025 and overseeded with their seed, suddenly began to go brown in June. I attributed that to the heat, the western facing sunlight on this area and the new grass. In July, once again I started noticing brown patches in my lawn and this time another area manager came out. He said the lawn did not have disease; however, took some core samples in the front and told me that because the lawn soil was mostly clay, I needed to bring in top soil and cover the lawn so that the existing grass and the seed I planned to put down in September would be able to grow in good soil. His comment was that there was something going on in the lawn and recommended by have a soil test done by Virginia Tech. He also said several other Virginia Green agronomists, looked at the lawn problem and the 2025 Virginia Green soil test, but could not figure out what was going on with the lawn. Following his recommendation, I did have a soil test completed and the results were that the front yard, where all of the damage was taking place, needed a nitrogen heavy fertilizer. The pH levels and all of the other tests were good. I called our representative and told him what the results said about a nitrogen fertilizer for the front. His response told me everything I needed. He said "brother, I told you want to do and that is put down a covering of top soil on the entire lawn." When I pointed out the soil test recommended nitrogen, he said, "that's all it is, a recommendation." He also mentioned that I did not like Virginia Green, maybe I should find another company. With that comment and his dismissive attitude, I said goodbye and subsequently cancelled my contract with them. I have many friends who use Virginia Green, whose lawns look very good and they are fully satisfied with the service. The first year I used them, the lawn was good, however, since then, I am not satisfied with their service. It seems as long as the lawn stays healthy, the service they provide is worth the money; however, once there's a problem, they cannot fix it and want to run from it as quickly as possible. So, if you're happy with their results, keep them, but if you see things go wrong, you better not delay in getting a true turf management company. I would characterize Virginia Green as a maintenance company and not one that can fix problems. The best analogy I can give is this - if you had a problem with your tooth, would you want a dental hygienist to do a root canal. I'm attaching two photos of my lawn, one 2025 and the other 2026.
