Lavender Lemon Drop Sweet Tart Sour
Tram B.

We came here for the ambiance and the Wednesday prime rib special. We came around 6 PM, meaning it should be around happy hour as well. This partially is the reason I did 4 stars. Despite being there before the end of happy hour (6:30 PM), when the bill came out, we still got normal prices, which should've been put in automatically from the system. Another reason is because eating while there is a big bee flying around your table or some lizards crawling near your bag, it's a bit hard to relax. Also just a heads up, there are two parking lots. One at the top and one near the bottom where you have to walk up some stairs. Now onto the food and drinks Lavender Lemon Drop - Vodka was very strong, but there's some slight citrus to balance it out. A bit too strong for me but if you're looking for that buzz, this will do it with some light flavors Sweet Tart Sour - Perfect if you're looking for a citrus drink. The strawberry puree also adds a nice hint of sweetness to it Hokkaido Scallops - The sauce that came with this is perfection. It was so good I ended up using it to eat everything. The sauce is so sweeet and the pecans added a great crunch Bayside Crab Cakes - These are probably good, but they came out after the scallops and were completely overshadowed because its flavor is much lighter so after something sweet like the scallops, it's hard to taste something lighter Prime Rib - Great deal for only $40. The creamed spinach added a good contrast to the prime rib, which had a good amount of fat

Beautiful location set upon a hill which offers majestic views and opportunities for many KODAK moments Wonderful layout that offers lovely banquet facility. The staff is wonderful and attentive. they know how to deal with large parties and groups The food is beautifully presented and delicious. They start with some fluffy sourdough bread. The salad was not a typical cesar but a refreshing mixed green with a light vinaigrette Their prime rib rivals Lawry's and their cream corn was better! desserts are beautiful and delicious here. portions are meant to share

Came here for Prime Rib Wednesday for the first time in almost 10 years, and I'm happy to say the prime rib was just as good as I remembered. The French onion soup was too! I especially loved all the croutons soaked in the soup. The creamed corn was amazing, and so was the complimentary sourdough. I didn't care too much for the Yorkshire pudding or creamed spinach, but I was mainly here for the prime rib and creamed corn anyway. We also ordered the escargot, which was a fun little addition since we don't order escargot very often. We enjoyed 3 out of the 4 desserts in the sampler, but that's definitely not their fault since we're just not chocolate cake people to begin with. Service was okay. We were seated right at our reservation time. Our first glass of wine had something floating in it, but they replaced it with another one without an issue. One thing to note: if you want an extra share plate, it's $9. I understand since they bring out an actual hot plate, but I literally just wanted two bites of the prime rib since I'm not a big red meat eater, so paying another $9 for a plate felt a little silly. The restaurant itself is very cute, and I definitely recommend sitting by the window if you want a nice view. Overall, it was just as good as I remembered. Glad I finally came back and gave this place another go almost 10 years later.

Summit House Cut with creamed spinach--delish!

I've been here a couple of times for holiday parties, especially we come here for their signature Roast Prime Ribs of Beef that comes with au jus, whipped cream horseradish, creamed corn and spinach, and Yorkshire pudding. The meal itself is very classic and nostalgic, but what makes this place over the top is the beautiful skyline of the OC area. They offer valet parking and ample self-parking. What I also appreciated about this place is that they offer private events, where they allow you to tour the spaces (taste test food options) and provide very helpful information to make your event a success. They offer different packages, and staff will ensure to put you in touch with the right point of contact for your specific needs/accommodations. Always grateful for the hospitality here and outstanding food!

We came here for a big family dinner to celebrate my brother getting a promotion. We had 8 adults and 4 kids so it was a lot of fun! Overall the dinner was excellent. We were seated outside so we had a beautiful view of the greenbelt and sunset. All of the adults ordered wedge salads for appetizers which were all fantastic! We ordered the kids food to come out with the salads, which it did. Unfortunately they waited to bring out the kids beverages with the kids meals so we all heard "where's my lemonade?" For about 10 minutes We ordered Brussels sprouts as a side for the table and of course it came with sides of creamed corn. Both were delicious!! My husband ordered the special which was a braised short rib and the meat was so flavorful and tender. I've had the John Dory before, which was excellent, but I wanted to try something new so I got the sea bass special. Overall the flavor was good but my fish was overcooked. For $78 the fish should have been perfect. I didn't say anything because I didn't want to bring down the mood of the evening and the flavor was good. I split the carrot cake with my husband, which was huge and amazing as always! Overall an excellent meal, just lost one star for the timing of the kids drinks as well as the sea bass being overcooked.

Came by for dinner the other night and it was a mediocre experience. Summit House is located on a hill with fantastic views of Orange County. Parking was available both valet as well as self-park. Dining seemed to be available in the dining room or in private rooms. The entire experience felt like "old money." It appeared that many diners were there for a special occasion. Started off with the crab cakes which didn't have much crab...bummer. It was more like breading with a little bit of crab. It didn't taste like crab cake either. The scallops appetizer was also lacklustre as the bacon had some heavy baking soda aftertaste?!? The mushroom appetizer was different. Highlights from the meal included the dry aged prime ribeye which had a fantastic char, fantastic marbling, and cooked to a perfect medium rare! Portions were gigantic and perfect for sharing! The chilean sea bass entree was also gigantic and really nicely executed with super flakey sea bass. The bone marrow mac and cheese was very rich and came out as a gigantic portion, perfect for sharing. Our waitress throughout the evening was fantastic. Ended the meal off with the dessert sampler which was a fantastic way to try out all their desserts in a smaller portion! ~$110/head after tax and gratuity with plenty of leftovers!

Summit House is a phenomenal experience all around!! The service here is top notch and they really make sure to tend to every need, whim, and desire you have. The ambiance inside is simply fantastic and really gives that warm, upscale experience with some added personality that other places lose out on. I really love the bar area in particular as there's bar seating, table seating, TVs, and also a pianist playing tunes to help set the mood. The food, which I'm sure you were waiting for me to finally get to, is DELICIOUS! From the starters all the way to the dessert and everything in between!! The salad is well dressed and the pecans are a nice touch. The bread is warm, has that very slight tanginess, and the butter along with it was melted nicely. The prime rib is incredibly tender and paired alongside the au jus is a match made in heaven. The sides were all tasty and the desserts were to die for!! Especially the chocolate cake, it's rich but decadent and every bite takes your taste buds to what feels like the equivalent of the chocolate river in Willa Wonka's factory. Overall, nothing but the highest praise for the Summit House from me. Love it here and am always looking for an excuse to grab dinner here!!

I had no idea such a nice steakhouse existed in on this unassuming hilltop in Fullerton! I attended an event in the banquet hall, which is separate from the main restaurant and had a wonderful experience. The service throughout the evening was exceptional, each staff member was attentive and friendly. The meal service was very well paced. We started with cocktail bites, including a braised short rib bite, lobster bisque, and a shrimp bite with mango salsa. Then, they served a butter lettuce salad with pecans, cheese, and a Dijon vinaigrette, which was refreshing and light. Prime rib - 4.5/5, it was cooked PERFECTLY! A thick, generous cut with an excellent medium-rare doneness. It could have used a little more seasoning, but the horseradish cream sauce paired great with it. Creamed corn - 5/5, my favorite side. I love corn and this side's sweetness complemented the rest of the meal. Yorkshire pudding - 4/5, was surprisingly large! It was well made, I'm just not a huge fan of it. Creamed spinach - 3/5, I don't think I liked this texturally, but I still appreciated having a vegetable alongside the meal. Dessert sampler plate - 5/5, mini creme brûlée and their signature Chocolate Lover's Torte with a whipped cream/strawberry/rolled chocolate plating decor Parking is something to keep in mind. There is a small parking lot and valet directly in front of the restaurant, but spaces are limited. Fortunately, there is also an additional lower level parking lot. Just be aware that it is a short walk on a small hill between the lower lot and the entrance, so plan accordingly if mobility is a concern.

Very nice restaurant. Service was also very good. Food was extremely delicious. The view is amazing from the Restaurant part. There's a good number of parking in front of the restaurant. Overall good experience.

Had a reservation for a Sunday night dinner with friends and had a good time. Parking was pretty rough to find but the ambiance and the view from the restaurant was great. Ordered a variety of shareables and appetizers. Starting from worst to best, I didn't like the popover. It felt too dense. I much rather had more of the sourdough bread basket! Amazing texture and taste! The escargot was ok, I liked the mac n cheese but I'm not sure if I appreciated the goodness of the bone marrow being buried in there. The brussel sprouts, creamed corn and creamed spinach were great! For the entrees, the John Dory was flaly and fresh but really disappointed with the sides. The mashed potatoes were tasteless, There was nothing wrong with the salsa but I didn't think it went well with the fish. I totally understand the prime rib being their star dish! It had an amazing velvety bite and perfect balance of meat to fat ratio, I would only come back for the prime rib.

Perfect anniversary celebration spot. Elegant and upscale vibes for the ladies, good portion meals for the men. We came to celebrate our anniversary at Summit House last night, and it was a great night. Their surprise anniversary card and complimentary dessert made the evening even more special. Their food is delicious! Everything is cooked to perfection. Prime rib medium rare and slightly bloody is exactly how I like mine prepared. Their creamed corn is phenomenal, truffle fries abundantly delicious, and prime rib is perfect. I didn't realize their scallops only come in two, but the flavor was exquisite. Our waiter was so accommodating and friendly, wish I had remembered his name. The restaurant is beautiful. It has a more old-fashioned sophisticated vibe, which makes your dinner feel even more fancy. To end the night, our waiter brought out a complimentary dessert, which was so good I nearly finished the whole thing. We had leftovers! Which we got to enjoy today. What a great experience, especially to celebrate a special occasion in a very special way.

Seaside sampler for four

I visited this restaurant for the first time and made a dinner reservation for my mom's birthday. Every Wednesday, they have discounts on their roasted prime rib cuts. For example, the cottage cut (seven ounces) costs $39 instead of $59 on Wednesdays. Despite the pricy menu items, the food quality, service, and ambience make for an excellent opportunity to celebrate a special occasion. Firstly, we ordered the seaside sampler for four as an appetizer. This included Chesapeake Bay-style crab cakes, chilled Mexican prawns, and ahi sashimi. I enjoyed the ahi sashimi the most as the large and fresh slices had a nice sear with a savory seasoning on the edges. The crab cakes tasted great and filling with a dill horseradish aioli as the menu listed. While I didn't try the prawns, my mom enjoyed those the most as they had a slightly sweet flavor. I did enjoy the cocktail sauce. Secondly, I ordered the cottage cut, which included seven ounces of roasted prime rib, creamed corn au gratin, creamed spinach, and a Yorkshire popover. The cut tasted lovely at medium rare as it had a soft texture and good balance of meat and fat. I appreciated that my mom got an especially thick cut of prime rib. Seven ounces feels just right for me given that the entree includes other sides. The creamed corn au gratin tasted a little sweet without an overwhelming flavor. I liked how the creamed spinach had a similar taste. A Yorkshire popover has an airy texture with a buttery and eggy taste. Au jus and horseradish butter elevated the prime rib. Thirdly, we had an English trifle for dessert. The menu says that the trifle consists of cake layers soaked with rum and brandy, including English custard, strawberries, Chantilly cream, and caramelized sliced almonds. It had a uniquely sweet flavor due to the soaking, and the almonds provided some crunch. I found the dessert tasty. I found the staff polite, friendly, and professional. Our server disclosed the discounts on their prime rib cuts and listed their prices. She also mentioned other featured entrees in detail. The staff also consistently refilled my water glass. We also had the opportunity to ask another staff member for olive oil and balsamic vinaigrette for our baked bread. He came back and made a little small talk, fondly reminiscing how his former restaurant would serve the same sauces with their bread. My mom also got a birthday card with a printed message and signatures from the staff. The restaurant provided a simply elegant ambience. While entering the indoor seating area, we passed an exhibition kitchen and table displaying various desserts. Customers generally wore semi-formal clothing, and the restaurant recommends business-casual attire. A pianist played various songs and tunes to make for a fancy yet calm atmosphere. I especially enjoyed how the pianist played "Clair de lune." It felt nice to experience a rare moment of hearing classical music played inside a restaurant. The restaurant also provides valet parking if you can't find a convenient spot.

Self parking is quite limited near the restaurant and extremely tight. There is an additional lot at the bottom of the hill but doesn't seem like there is a stairwell/walkway up and you will need to hug the curb walking up the hill. Your best bet is free valet, with tip of course. French Onion Soup -soo good. Gruyere was plenty and perfectly melted. Hokkaido Scallops -scallops were cooked perfectly, tender and silky. Pecans in the sauce added just the right amount of texture. We dipped out commentary sourdough into the sauce and it was perfection. Bone Marrow Mac n' Cheese -really cheesy but not overpowering, paired well with the decadent bone marrow. However, it was a bit heavy that we ended up taking the rest to-go. Summit House Cut (10 oz Prime Rib)- we ordered all around medium and our server made sure it was perfect before setting it down. She was understanding and willing to bring it back if the wellness wasn't to our desire. Tender and as expected however, we did end up asking for more au jus as it wasn't enough. Sides that came with Prime Rib weren't my favorite but they were decent. Creamed spinach not much flavor, liked the creamed corn better. Yorkshire popover was not that great, a bit too crisp on the outside that it seemed dried. Our table asked for au jus poured overtop and it helped a bit but still quite dry. English Trifle -syrup that cake is soaked in made it quite sweet. If you don't like wet mushy cakes you won't like this. Caramelized almond brittle helps bring in some extra texture.

Our server Christian really took care of us, she's an awesome server there! On a side note. Every Wednesday the Art Of Sax plays there. Me and my friends mainly come on Wednesday nights when they play here. We have been following this band for many years. Will, Pebbles, and Eddie love them! They really know how to bring people to the dance floor! Wednesday's 7pm - 10pm.

Although we may not have initially been heading to Macallans Public House, my husband ended up enjoying the experience, food, and service! We came in on a warm and beautiful day, so we opted to stay outside in their patio area. Macallans Public House is located in Downtown Brea. They offer a wide selection of alcoholic beverages and their food menu offers several options for various palettes. Our order consisted of - Bruschetta - Pear and Prosciutto Flatbread - Bacon and Brie Burger Everything was tasty. The bruschetta had amazing flavor and the Pear and Prosciutto flatbread was unique in all of the best ways. To be honest, the Bacon and Brie burger was also really good. I love Brie, so putting it on a burger was heavenly. The only thing that left a bad impression was my napkin; it smelled of the stench of wet dog. The whole napkin and every inch of it. I noticed immediately wiping my mouth with it! I thought I may be crazy, but my husband gave it a sniff all around and agreed. It smelled awful and made me question the cleanliness of the spot. Macallans Public House would definitely be a revisit for my husband so I would likely revisit with him if he really wanted to stop by in the future.
