I first spoke with mike when I originally took my car in and they diagnosed my car for free (when other places charged a ridiculous amount for diagnosis), they examined my car and Jay called a few days later giving me a quote that was extremely less then any other auto place. They give you and option for either using a use parts or new parts to save YOU money. They finished the car quickly and kept me updated. Their extremely prices and HONEST. I had my '99 Outback engine rebuilt by them along with some wear items replaced (brake rotors, pads, etc) for a very competitive price about 6 months ago and it's still running strong with 80,000 miles on it now. They even tightened up the belts a few months after the rebuild to ensure it keeps running well. I would not go anywhere else to service my Subaru, and neither should you. Best Subaru care and ridiculously fair prices. Two years ago I bought a 1993 1-owner Subaru Impreza with 180,000 miles. It lived in Boulder, so I took it to Super Rupair for their used car evaluation. Glad I did, it needed $1500 worth of work, much of it interval service, suspension, and there was an issue with leaking steering fluid. I didn't think the owner would want to sell for $1000 off (I figured $500 is the average I've spent on old used cars, so I'd absorb that). Well, they were moving and once they saw the evaluation, made a deal. I drove the car for a couple of months, checking the fluid and asking around about service garages. One name kept coming up enthusiastically: Summit Auto. I took my car in for an estimate and took the evaluation list. Mike looked it over and decided it would be less expensive for me to have the steering column and pump replaced. He also looked at the dozen suspension items and recommended the same. Replacements came from a newer car with few miles, but that had a blown engine. My total bill after EVERYTHING was fixed, brake shoes replaced and a tune up: $700... more than half off the estimate using all new parts at Super Rupair. If I get stuck in Boulder, that's where I'll go, but here in Denver, it's Summit Auto all the way for me and my friends. There's a review below complaining that Summit reused gaskets during a rebuild. I don't believe it for a second: I've had minor work done and they replaced the seals. A REBUILD? That's idiotic. Recommended by my long time mechanic Buddy (Mobile Mechanic in Golden, Colorado), Mike and his team at Summit Auto, like Buddy, are the best. Ten plus years ago, when the head gasket on my original engine failed, Summit replaced the entire engine, which still runs like a charm today. Recently, Summit, on a tight schedule, replaced the original transmission with a used one. They stuck to their quote, despite having to spend three extra hours pulling out rusty bolts and having to replace a clutch release bearing in the process. I needed head gaskets on my beloved 1997 Outback. The dealer wanted a fortune just to do the head gaskets. Summit Auto did the head gaskets and everything else that had to be touched for a lot less money. They towed my car for only $50 (compared to what would have been about $120 through a tow service) and even gave me a loaner car (which while older than my outback and looking a bit questionable was more solid to drive they my mom's 2006 chevy). I checked into the parts distributor and parts they use and all are top quality. My car is running beautifully again. Went to a Speedy Roo near Hampden/Tower for loss of power. Dropped it off and they said they would call. They didn't. Called the next morning and they said "mechanic was out. It was obvious they had forgotten it out in the parking lot! Said they would call back" after a couple more hours. They did and recommended over $1000 in parts and repairs. It was probably on stuff that needed done eventually on our 2001 Outback but after spending all that money it still did not resolve the problem for loss of power! Took it to the guys at Summit and in less than a day for for around $100 replaced plugs and wires and power was back! These guys know what they are doing and charge a fair price to fix what is wrong and not "mark-up" you bill with things "that should be done" If you have a problem with your Subaru and you want it fixed, Summit is the place to go. I don't think Speedy Roo will cheat you but I don't believe they are as reputable as Summit. Also don't bother with Speedy Roo's reviews on their SRM website, they only post the one's that they like. I've taken my car here for years on the recommendation of a friend and now I'm the one referring friends. Need a loaner car for the day? They'll provide one for the more than reasonable price of FREE. Their prices prices are consistently half what the dealer quotes me. Even after paying $5 for that latte you're much better off. Took my '08 Outback to a shop on 4/10 b/c my car was stalling. That shop recommended removing the engine to determine the cause and replace the cylinder heads while doing so, even though they'd been replaced in Oct. of last year & weren't leaking, all for the price of $1700. Frustrated, I did a yelp search and found Summit Auto Repair near my house. I took it in there on 4/13 and was met by Mike and Jay (father and son). Both were super cool and promised to determine the problem. Mike even gave me a ride home, so I couldn't have to take a cab, in his custom '92 SVX! How cool is that! Anyway, Jay called me later that day with the news. Both cylinder heads needed the valves adjusted and the left cam seal needed to be replaced. They also reprogramed the engine and added some transmission fluid d/t faulty shifting. All for the total of $425. My car has stalled since. I then took my wife's '05 Hyundai Sonata there the next day and received 30% off because it was a non-subaru car (this was a one time deal of course). I can't recommend Summit Auto enough! Transmission went out on my wife's 98 outback and we didn't have a lot of money to spend, one shop said to just get a new car, ( not even close to an option) Mike and his crew gave us a used transmission choice at a great price and we did it. I have had a Mitsubishi Montero that was serviced by this company, and I can tell you that Summit kept my car on the road for over 13 years. When the time came for me to get a new car, I went to Mike and he sold me an incredible Legacy Outback in mint condition. In addition, I got a one year warranty on it. I have had it a year, and Mike has repaired everything (minor issues) at no cost to me. I had to have an idler pulley replaced. The wheel broke in recent severe weather. The average labor to replace the wheel is .7 hrs. They charged me just under $500.00!!!!! I repeatedly asked for an estimate, but they kept avoiding the question. I had good experiences in the past, so I trusted Mike. Additionally, I had to rent a car because they could not get to it until the next day. I have in the past referred a number of people to them. NEVER AGAIN! read more

I came in because I has having a fluting noise at high boost, my car that has been slightly modified, and I was hoping a speciality shop could help. They where able to quickly to come a conclusion that I needed a new turbo. $1200 later, not a bad price, Don't Be Suckered. After paying, I noticed the same fluttering noise, I called back, to say the initial problem was not resolved. The response was, "we replaced the turbo, we can't help, take your car to a speciality shop." So I did, a few miles away, Subaru Performance, I no longer have the fluttering noise. read more

had gasket tune up job done here several months ago almost immediately after the repair it was eating oil faster than when it had a leak. They told me it was because the rings were bad the car over heated which it never has. took it in twice to have them check their work same story we can't fix it. took it to them last week there was a leak coming from the timing belt cover oh that's the power steering but we will check. they told us yes it is the power steering leaking we can't fix your oil issue plus it needs $700 worth of repairs 4x4 clutch. took the car to another shop and our water pump is leaking from behind the timing belt cover which they would have seen had they looked like we asked. Turns out the package we got to replace other things as well as the timing belt didn't include the water pump they didn't even offer. the water pump is an INTEGRAL part of a timing belt replacement as it usually leaks or seizes destroying the timing belt. but hey if you like being surrounded by a bunch of angry looking guys speaking russian who have a front desk person wearing a shirt that says russian mafia to not do a complete job and the job they do be done poorly go here. I would like to add that the having gaskets leading to higher oil consumption may be true but everyone else I have talked to including the place that caught the water pump say they doubt it. read more
