These folks are simply the best. Knowledgeable, honest and friendly. What more could you ask for? I had my '99 Outback engine rebuilt by them along with some wear items replaced (brake rotors, pads, etc) for a very competitive price about 6 months ago and it's still running strong with 80,000 miles on it now. They even tightened up the belts a few months after the rebuild to ensure it keeps running well. I would not go anywhere else to service my Subaru, and neither should you. This is the place for great work, great people and great rates. Thank you again Summit Auto! read more

Got my transmission replaced on my Outback that I use to go skiing... runs smooth. Best Subaru shop in Metro Denver, from major repairs to small. Jay and Mike offer big shop expertise and service from a family business they have run for years. I've learned it's way cheaper to have them fix my Subies than to buy new. read more

This is a family owned business that takes pride in their work and vehicles they have for sale. We bought a used Subaru Forester for my daughter a few months ago and have been pleased with the performance. All of their used vehicles have a 1 year warranty. The customer service is great. read more

I've took my car into this place twice now due to accidents unfortunately. I found them on google and reviewed their reviews. I first spoke with mike when I originally took my car in and they diagnosed my car for free (when other places charged a ridiculous amount for diagnosis), they examined my car and Jay called a few days later giving me a quote that was extremely less then any other auto place. They give you and option for either using a use parts or new parts to save YOU money. They finished the car quickly and kept me updated. Their extremely prices and HONEST. They are a mom and pop mechanic shop and I'm extremely glad I found them as this is the ONLY place I'll bring my car to for repairs from now on. read more

Best Subaru care and ridiculously fair prices. Two years ago I bought a 1993 1-owner Subaru Impreza with 180,000 miles. It lived in Boulder, so I took it to Super Rupair for their used car evaluation. Glad I did, it needed $1500 worth of work, much of it interval service, suspension, and there was an issue with leaking steering fluid. I didn't think the owner would want to sell for $1000 off (I figured $500 is the average I've spent on old used cars, so I'd absorb that). Well, they were moving and once they saw the evaluation, made a deal. I drove the car for a couple of months, checking the fluid and asking around about service garages. One name kept coming up enthusiastically: Summit Auto. I took my car in for an estimate and took the evaluation list. Mike looked it over and decided it would be less expensive for me to have the steering column and pump replaced. He also looked at the dozen suspension items and recommended the same. Replacements came from a newer car with few miles, but that had a blown engine. My total bill after EVERYTHING was fixed, brake shoes replaced and a tune up: $700... more than half off the estimate using all new parts at Super Rupair. If I get stuck in Boulder, that's where I'll go, but here in Denver, it's Summit Auto all the way for me and my friends. There's a review below complaining that Summit reused gaskets during a rebuild. I don't believe it for a second: I've had minor work done and they replaced the seals. A REBUILD? That's idiotic. The jerk just wants to, in his own words, "punish" Summit on YELP. I flagged that B.S. read more

I needed head gaskets on my beloved 1997 Outback. The dealer wanted a fortune just to do the head gaskets. Summit Auto did the head gaskets and everything else that had to be touched for a lot less money. They towed my car for only $50 (compared to what would have been about $120 through a tow service) and even gave me a loaner car (which while older than my outback and looking a bit questionable was more solid to drive they my mom's 2006 chevy). I checked into the parts distributor and parts they use and all are top quality. My car is running beautifully again. I was a little nervous, but Mike and the Summit Auto team did an excellent job at a good price. Thank you Summit Auto! read more

Recommended by my long time mechanic Buddy (Mobile Mechanic in Golden, Colorado), Mike and his team at Summit Auto, like Buddy, are the best. Ten plus years ago, when the head gasket on my original engine failed, Summit replaced the entire engine, which still runs like a charm today. Recently, Summit, on a tight schedule, replaced the original transmission with a used one. They stuck to their quote, despite having to spend three extra hours pulling out rusty bolts and having to replace a clutch release bearing in the process. These guys have integrity, Subaru skill and are as good as it gets. I recommend them highly. :-) Lew K., Golden, Colorado Sept., 2019 read more

Went to a Speedy Roo near Hampden/Tower for loss of power. Dropped it off and they said they would call. They didn't. Called the next morning and they said "mechanic was out. It was obvious they had forgotten it out in the parking lot! Said they would call back" after a couple more hours. They did and recommended over $1000 in parts and repairs. It was probably on stuff that needed done eventually on our 2001 Outback but after spending all that money it still did not resolve the problem for loss of power! Took it to the guys at Summit and in less than a day for for around $100 replaced plugs and wires and power was back! These guys know what they are doing and charge a fair price to fix what is wrong and not "mark-up" you bill with things "that should be done" If you have a problem with your Subaru and you want it fixed, Summit is the place to go. I don't think Speedy Roo will cheat you but I don't believe they are as reputable as Summit. Also don't bother with Speedy Roo's reviews on their SRM website, they only post the one's that they like. That is why they have such a good "rating" Thank goodness for independent sources like Yelp. read more

AWESOME!! We were passing through Denver for the high country when our check engine light came in and the truck started to stall. I made a stab based on past reviews of Summit and was not disappointed. Mike gave us first class service on a short notice drop in. He kept us appraised of their troubleshooting at each step of the way. We were in and out in 60 minutes with a detailed diagnosis, replaced the required parts, and confidence that we solved the issue. He had plenty of chance to take advantage of us, but we got splendid personalized service at fair rates. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!! read more

BEWARE!!! Customers should know if they write a bad review, Summit Auto deletes it!!! They are rude, rude , rude. Weird that they would treat paying customers that way. I'll never go back. And the mechanic who referred me will get the whole story. He won't refer anymore. read more

Are you looking for a repair shop with a comfortable waiting room, free wi-fi, coffee and donuts? Then go to your local Subaru dealer. Now if you're willing to trade those perks for quality work at HALF THE PRICE then bring your car here and walk a few blocks to the Starbucks for the rest. I've taken my car here for years on the recommendation of a friend and now I'm the one referring friends. Need a loaner car for the day? They'll provide one for the more than reasonable price of FREE. Their prices prices are consistently half what the dealer quotes me. Even after paying $5 for that latte you're much better off. That's a no brainer in my book. read more

Took my '08 Outback to a shop on 4/10 b/c my car was stalling. That shop recommended removing the engine to determine the cause and replace the cylinder heads while doing so, even though they'd been replaced in Oct. of last year & weren't leaking, all for the price of $1700. Frustrated, I did a yelp search and found Summit Auto Repair near my house. I took it in there on 4/13 and was met by Mike and Jay (father and son). Both were super cool and promised to determine the problem. Mike even gave me a ride home, so I couldn't have to take a cab, in his custom '92 SVX! How cool is that! Anyway, Jay called me later that day with the news. Both cylinder heads needed the valves adjusted and the left cam seal needed to be replaced. They also reprogramed the engine and added some transmission fluid d/t faulty shifting. All for the total of $425. My car has stalled since. I then took my wife's '05 Hyundai Sonata there the next day and received 30% off because it was a non-subaru car (this was a one time deal of course). I can't recommend Summit Auto enough! They've made me a life long customer. read more

I have taken my Legacy here as well as my Civic and this place does good efficient work at a much cheaper price then the dealership and most other mechanics. They guarantee their work and do a great job from my experience. read more

Transmission went out on my wife's 98 outback and we didn't have a lot of money to spend, one shop said to just get a new car, ( not even close to an option) Mike and his crew gave us a used transmission choice at a great price and we did it. There was a problem and mike stood behind his work and went above and beyond to fix it, now the subbie runs better than it ever has when we need to finally replace this car(it has 260K on it) which might be a while from now, with summit as our new go to mechanics, we would trust to buy one of their reconditioned subbies. Trust them to do a great job for you and stand behind their work. read more

I recently purchased a vehicle from them. Jay was very helpful along the process answering any questions I had, and he wasn't pushy at all very patient and friendly. These guys really make you feel welcome and not like they're just trying to sell you something, I definitely recommend these guys if you're looking to purchase a Subaru or just get repairs on your vehicle . read more

As a woman, I have struggled with finding a reliable, AFFORDABLE, and honest auto repair for my cars. I have given my business to Summit because of their integrity and quality of auto repair. I have had a Mitsubishi Montero that was serviced by this company, and I can tell you that Summit kept my car on the road for over 13 years. When the time came for me to get a new car, I went to Mike and he sold me an incredible Legacy Outback in mint condition. In addition, I got a one year warranty on it. I have had it a year, and Mike has repaired everything (minor issues) at no cost to me. Including changing antifreeze, etc. Final note: I like this company so much that I drive all the way from Longmont to get my car serviced. The best. Word. read more

I've had two Subaru Legacys repaired here. One involved front body work and the second was a total motor replacement. They save you money where they can. Giving 5 stars based on their quality of service, fair pricing, great guys to do business with. read more

Mike from Summit Auto called and politely insisted that there must be some misdiagnosis and offered to look at the car again. I can tell they really care so I'm going to go back again and hope to leave happy this time. read more

I am new to the area and I found them on Yelp. I am always weary with new mechanics. They were willing to get me in on short notice and get to work right away. After a lot of time and money they called me to pick up my vehicle. There was a little misunderstanding and the problem was not fixed. I was worried this would turn into a big deal. However, they were VERY friendly, and did not make me pay a dime. I was very impressed with how they handled what could have been a very frustrating experience. Thank you SO much Summit Auto! read more

I had to have an idler pulley replaced. The wheel broke in recent severe weather. The average labor to replace the wheel is .7 hrs. They charged me just under $500.00!!!!! I repeatedly asked for an estimate, but they kept avoiding the question. I had good experiences in the past, so I trusted Mike. Additionally, I had to rent a car because they could not get to it until the next day. I have in the past referred a number of people to them. NEVER AGAIN! read more

I came in because I has having a fluting noise at high boost, my car that has been slightly modified, and I was hoping a speciality shop could help. They where able to quickly to come a conclusion that I needed a new turbo. $1200 later, not a bad price, Don't Be Suckered. After paying, I noticed the same fluttering noise, I called back, to say the initial problem was not resolved. The response was, "we replaced the turbo, we can't help, take your car to a speciality shop." So I did, a few miles away, Subaru Performance, I no longer have the fluttering noise. read more

had gasket tune up job done here several months ago almost immediately after the repair it was eating oil faster than when it had a leak. They told me it was because the rings were bad the car over heated which it never has. took it in twice to have them check their work same story we can't fix it. took it to them last week there was a leak coming from the timing belt cover oh that's the power steering but we will check. they told us yes it is the power steering leaking we can't fix your oil issue plus it needs $700 worth of repairs 4x4 clutch. took the car to another shop and our water pump is leaking from behind the timing belt cover which they would have seen had they looked like we asked. Turns out the package we got to replace other things as well as the timing belt didn't include the water pump they didn't even offer. the water pump is an INTEGRAL part of a timing belt replacement as it usually leaks or seizes destroying the timing belt. but hey if you like being surrounded by a bunch of angry looking guys speaking russian who have a front desk person wearing a shirt that says russian mafia to not do a complete job and the job they do be done poorly go here. I would like to add that the having gaskets leading to higher oil consumption may be true but everyone else I have talked to including the place that caught the water pump say they doubt it. read more
