The owner of this business is a thief and a fraud. I caught him red handed as did both the Fidelity warranty company and Subaru corporate. He charged me three times what the part was worth and withheld the fact that I could have gotten the work done for free at the dealership. He made me think I couldn't bring my car elsewhere and tricked me into $4,000 worth of work that the dealership would have covered under the warranty. After I contacted him about that to try to fix it. He's refusing to give me the receipt. This business is fraudulent and criminal do not go there. read more

About a year ago I had a 2012 Volkswagen Tiguan, which had check engine light. I scanned the code, and it said there's a vacuum leak for the turbo, and the turbo is disabled. I replaced the Mass Airflow Sensor, did not fix it. Checked all the hoses that I can see, no leaks. So I took it to this shop, and they wanted a diagnostic to be paid upfront, $180 bucks. I was fine with that, but I told them that I had checked the code, and I need them to tell me more than telling me to replace the Mass Airflow Sensor. Later in the afternoon I got a call from them, and they told me they found the code (same exact one I had checked), and they said the first step is to replace the Mass Airflow Sensor, and they wanted $600 for it. $425 for the sensor, and the rest is labor. I told them that I had that replaced, and it is not the problem. The insisted that they have to follow the procedure, and if the problem is not that, they will give me more estimates. I asked them, "So, you are telling me that I had to spend about $600, and there is no guarantee that I will get it fixed? And you refused to do further diagnostic unless I pay you $600 first, on top of the $180 I already paid?" They pretty much said yeah. Then I told them, that this is an expensive experiment that they are offering me, where we will go down the rabbit hole, and they cannot tell me how far. No matter what the outcome, they will make a ton of money from me, and I don't even know if the car will be fixed. So I told them forget it. I just wanted the car back. I lost my $180 for nothing. After I took the car back home, I decided to take things into my own hands, and I thoroughly go through all the connections for the air intake and the turbos. Turned out, one of the the hoses at the bottom of the car was popped out of the connection, because the plastic clamp that locks it into the place was loose. Visually you don't see it disconnected, it looked connected, but it was loose. I locked the clamp back, the hose was tight, and that fixed it. Do not come to this place. I wish I had the experience I was expecting but I ended up being disappointed with the service. The first time I took my car I got a diagnostic that same day, they told me to start by replacing the battery to see if that would fix my problem. I found the quote to be quite high, around $600, the battery being the most expensive so I decided to reject all the services and buy my own battery a few days later. Good thing I did because a day after getting a quote, I got a text that told me they misquoted me for the battery so what would have happened if I hadn't rejected the service?? After changing the battery and seeing that the issue with my car was still there I decided to take it back a few weeks later. I turned in my car Tuesday at 12:30 and they told me it'd be ready the next day. Instead I had to call almost everyday to get an update on my car, all the employees I talked to seem like they had no idea what the status of my car was. They did not even work on my car till Friday morning! They did all sorts of tests but still could not find an issue. Once my car was ready I did not even get a call to pick it up so by 2pm is finally when I call and got my car back. In the end I payed almost $300 for tests that lasted 3 days and the issue still persists. I'm really not happy with the service and I will be taking my car somewhere else. read more

2017 35K mile M4. Initial impression was very positive. everyone seemed nice, considerate about the vehicle, responsive, etc. they did an oil change, brake flush, coolant flush and suggested a fuel system cleaning. They offered to do the air intake and cabin air filter... too expensive for those as a DIYer. When i picked up the car, they said they couldnt figure out how to do the fuel system clean on my vehicle - red flag? nevertheless, everything else done, all good. a couple of days later, check engine light. car went into "limp" mode. I drove it home, parked it. Started the next day, engine light was gone, no service notifications. Ive had lots of BMWs that would throw a code now and again under hard driving so i didnt think much of it. A handful of days later, Check engine, limp mode, parked it at home. Used my ODB tool and ran the codes. all 3 were related to the charge air cooling system. i checked the coolant levels, main coolant was fine, charge air reservoir was bone dry. I took it back for them to check out. The otherwise very nice woman at the counter spent more time deflecting about why it probably wasnt their fault but had a technician come out to top it off. I told him about the recent flush. He topped off the reservoir saying it just needed a little more. nice guy. I drove it away, checked the reservoir again a few minutes later and it was empty. i immediately went back. I was told there is probably leaks, other issues, they would need to charge for inspection, etc, etc etc. and the check engine light i saw "was probably not related". no discussion about causes for an empty coolant reservoir. i said this isnt going to work and walked out. Given my very first impression and and the reviews, I did figure there would be more effort to help solve the issue, not immediate deflection of the issue. I solved the issue in 15 minutes watching you tube. i purchased a vacuum filler for the cooling system. i added about 1/2 gallon of coolant, ran the bleed process and all is good now! Had the women at the front desk actually tried to solve the issue, this would probably be a 5 star review. read more

Don't go there! Took my car there for a A/C recharge for almost $400 and couple weeks later the A/C stop working again. Brought it back and they said the compressor is not working and also my radiator is leaking and needs to be replaced for almost $3000. I bring my car to another shop for an inspection. They found the compressor is fine and the A/C was not correctly charged! The radiator is also fine and passed the pressure test. Get the A/C fixed for less than $200. read more

We WERE customers for the past 5 years bringing multiple vehicles in. Not anymore!! Forget our last experience where a day after a service they performed we noticed a leak from under our vehicle to being told not their issue and to get it diagnosed we'd have to pay to have some new service performed. Ok, maybe on the 7 mile drive home we hit something that caused a leak and it's our fault, sure that happens right? ok.. well onto today's experience. We had an appointment at 9am for a routine "A" (glorified oil change and basic maintenance) service. Six hours go by with no call with any info in regards to when the vehicle would be completed until we called at 3:30 and left a message. Then coincidentally a few minutes later we received a call back and text with an invoice that was showing incomplete and a list of a few recommended repairs. Basically showing other than a walk around they hadn't started on the vehicle. Talked with Fabian and confirmed to go ahead with the repairs. However was never discussed that the vehicle would be kept overnight with no warning prior to them closing. We called first thing in the morning. Spoke to Al and talked about what needed to be repaired and was told that he'd have someone on it by noon. Excuse me, but we dropped the vehicle off the day prior for a set appointment at 9am. Now being told they would start it around noon the following day. To then being called at almost 2pm that 3 of the 6 items needed weren't available and that we're now waiting on parts and "we were at the mercy of the parts guy." Mind you these were parts we agreed to on Wednesday late afternoon, why not ordered then?! After speaking with Al I was told he'd let me know by near end of day if it was completed. Did I receive a phone call, Nope! Called first thing the following morning. Spoke to Fabian again. Was told the vehicle would be ready by 9:30am, got there and it wasn't! And to top it all off when the vehicle was finally brought out front for me to leave. The inside was a mess. The battery cover above the passenger seat wasn't on, the passenger seat was as far forward as it could go, plastic pieces scattered in the back and a section in the hatchback area was left open! Like I said 5 years of being a loyal customer. Needless to say I wouldn't recommend bringing your vehicle here. read more

I won't let anyone else work on my vehicle. I bought my BMW in because my battery was failing and I needed an oil change. From the time I walked through the door I felt extraordinarily comfortable with the staff. It's hard to find a car shop that is trustworthy, let alone one with the expertise to work on German automobiles. This is that shop. I thought I would be paying for a battery and battery cable. After checking my car, the mechanics determined that I did not need a new cable (with it's computerized charging system), so my bill was half of what I was prepared to pay. They also let me know my brake pads need to be replaced in a month or so (yay, communication). My car runs fantastically and I intend to keep it that way, so I will be back for all services. I know Alan and the crew will take good care of my baby, they have over a 30 year history of doing the same for their customers. What happened? I bought a a Porsche couple of years ago and they did a great job on the pre-purchase inspection and some subsequent work. I went in for an oil change yesterday and for them to check the passenger door window which was not tracking right. I left the car there first thing in the morning on the day of my appointment expecting them to call me by mid-afternoon. No call so I called just before the end of the day and they said it was ready. By then it was too late to get an Uber and pick it up so I arranged to pick it up first thing in the morning. Went to pick it up and they told me they never fixed the window, but they noted it needed repair on the inspection report but they didn't do what I brought it in for! So they offered to get it don that day if I left it again. I did so and went there this afternoon to find out that it wasn't done. In fact they hadn't even looked at it! So I had to pay Uber to bring be back and forth for nothing, They had the car for two days to do 1 hour of work and they still didn't get it done! And for my inconvenience I was offered nothing, not even to cover the extra Uber rides. No clue how to run a business and I will never go back here. read more

Called and scheduled an appointment for Tuesday, so I dropped off my Mini Cooper on a Monday night, called late on Tuesday they told me they forgot I dropped the car off and would get it checked in (1st mistake) They were to flush the transmission, and check out rough idle issue. Called them on Wednesday, the ytold me the valve cover was leaking oil into the cylinders and fouling the plugs (Mistake # 2 that nearly impossible to happen) they quote the valve cover price of over $900 ( mistake #3) I found several new on line for $140 called them told them do not do that work they quoted that work only $1,200, told them just flush the transmission and cooling system, it took them 6 days to do that work, I've owned BMW's back east and this is by far the worst service I have ever received on my vehicles, sorry I will not be going back, over priced and under serviced! 2 stars is a gift! read more

I've been taking my cars to this business since the early days when Chris owned it. I've spent 1000's of dollars over the years. my last service was back in May for a service and oil change. I keep getting CARFAX notifications that I'm due. There system has not updated the info. Told me they we're having problems with computer uploading. Then fix it! I have now called 3 times with no response! Last Thursday I asked to speak to the owner, Alan Propp who seems to only come in twice a week. I asked to have him call me and 2 days later, nothing. The previous management was always on top of it, but ever since this new owner, I've seen a definite decline. They've lost my business after over 20 years. Looking for an independent shop to do maintenance on my Porsche. Tried German Imports Car Care for an oil change. Car returned with a significant oil leak from the oil drain plug. Brought the car back and instead of replacing the drain plug gasket they just tightened it. It's an aluminum plug in an aluminum oil pain, out of spec torque (plug was tightened past factory markings) can strip threads. In addition, the car was washed without telling me/asking me - I have dark paint and I'm particular about washes and risk of scratching. read more

Multiple RED flags! -- First time I went to German Imports was because my car would lose power and die. They ran diagnostics and said that I had a faulty High pressure fuel pump. Then they also convinced me to change my timing chain and covers because the chain was too stretched. I figured my Audi has around 120k miles, I should do it. They charged me almost $3000 which is not unusual given the 2 jobs. After about 1000 miles my car wouldn't start again. I took it to a trusted mechanic (who was gone at the time my car died the first time) and he ran diagnostics that came back with the EXACT SAME error code as the initial time - it was the LOW pressure fuel pump. So first red flag - they changed the wrong part and Rob used that to convince me to do the timing chain replacement since "it's in the same area". Low pressure pump is towards the back of the car, so if they changed that, they couldn't use it as excuse for the timing chain. Convenient. My mechanic also told me that I had an oil leak, apparently coming from the lower timing chain cover (that German Imports completely replaced 1000 miles earlier). The area looked extremely dirty, oil and dirt everywhere - they didn't even clean it. My mechanic suggested I go back since I'm still under warranty. I called German Imports and got the usual "we stand behind everything we do" talk from Rob. I told them to clean the area and then inspect. They did not clean it after I got the car back and Rob told me it's not something they did and that I needed the cambridge sealed or it could be something else, like oil pan, they don't really know, and that is still not connected to their original big job. They also charged me for an oil change... I have a video of the leak coming from the left side of the lower timing chain cover and spreading along under side of the engine. Of course this is after I pressure washed my own engine to actually get a clean area to look at, something I told them to do multiple times. They even told me to wait until the snow was gone and roads were not wet AND STILL they didn't clean anything to actually troubleshot the problem. These guys were quoting me for rubbish, not doing their job even when I said what I needed, and absolutely do not stand behind their work. They also claimed that they didn't change the clearly bad serpentine belt since "it was on a completely different side of the car" which is a straight out lie. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone, especially after the way they talked to me both times I went there. read more

I can't say enough nice things about German Imports on S. Jordan Road. I've always taken my Passat, and rare VW Corrado, to the dealer to get work done because I never found an independent shop who understands VWs and who didn't break something in the process. Then a friend recommended German Imports to me and I've been so pleased with not only the work they've done on both my water cooled VW's and the reasonable prices...but the customer service and pride in their work has been outstanding. Most recently, I took my Corrado in, and the part that needed to be replaced was a discontinued one. I was devastated and had a melt down. Not only, did Eric find a work around, he had what they needed overnighted and the work was done on the car 4 days earlier than I expected. They went above and beyond for me. WOW! This place has the best mechanics that I have ever experienced in the last 27 years of owning the finest German cars (Mercedes Benz). Alan and his mechanics Jeff especially are so kind and go way above and beyond to take care of there customers. In my last experience my car had a problem with the A/C, I took it to three different mechanics and finally I was introduced to German Imports. They figured out exactly what was wrong, found the part and get my A/C running perfectly. These folks know exactly what to do and have all of the tools to find out what needs to be fixed! I was close to just selling my car as I thought it had hit the limit of investment but these folks made it work perfectly and I have fallen back in love with my car! Cannot recommend ever . 2 reasons. I've taken my vehicle here twice. Both for oil changes. On the second time I picked my vehicle up from here I took it to discount tire when I got a flat a month later. The technician at discount tire told me my tires were inflated to 42 PSI. This was German imports doing. The psi for my car is 33 for sea level. The tech at DT put them at 36 where they should've been. The other issue I have is the ridiculous pricing. I paid 92$ for my oil change. The most I've ever paid. I can actually get it done at the dealer for 49$ which is where I'll be going in the future. They also must think people are fools. Or maybe just me: I was quoted 1400$ for a new blend door actuator since my AC is blowing hot on one side and cold on the rest: didn't even mention to me that it could be a fuse, a relay switch. The motor or something else. The owner said they would have to take off the entire dash board and that there are several actuators. A quick google search indicates the passenger actuator is located under the glovebox. I removed the glovebox and will be testing the motors/ switches and everything else. According to Mitsubishi there's only 2 in my vehicle. 1400$ doesn't even include the tax. I went online and found all the parts. If this is indeed the issue I will be doing it myself to save quite a bit of $$$. I don't know why car shops think people are fools. Do you guys think people don't do their research? It is always worth it to get a second opinion. This company lost my business. read more

I came upon this place 7 years ago by chance. I was visiting Fastenal for parts. At the time I was using Schomp BMW for my repairs and maintenance. It's hard to find a local repair shop that's locally owned. I was greeted by Eric and Joe when I went in to schedule an oil change. I could tell by meeting them I would be coming here for all my BMW needs. You can tell by peoples demeanor and I liked what I was feeling, after my oil change they made some recommendations on some minor issues that don't need immediate attention, but should be fixed in the future. They gave me a quote and I left. My car drove well after that oil change. After a few days I called to schedule the repairs they suggested. They gave me a date to come in to drop it off. After speaking with them they assured me about everything and how Schomp makes money off repairs. I even called Schomp to see what their pricing was, almost double if not triple. German Imports has done 4 major repairs on my 2003 BMW 330xi and I am very impressed with the pricing, work, and quality they put into taking care of you. They are one of those hidden gems in Denver. The pricing is amazing, the customer service is amazing, and the mechanics our top notch! Yeah they don't have a coffee bar or loaners, but I would trade that all in for them, oh wait I did! The four jobs included major tune up, exhaust system replacement, Power steering overall, and currently my axles were replaced. Even tho these can be very expensive costs, German Imports saved me thousands if I went to others. A long the way I don't even ask for a pricing list, because they price everything fair if not the best price! I've compared my 4 major repairs to Schomp and they saved me 8K! I am so glad this place exists and I do highly recommend it to anyone who has a German Import to go to this place, I do warn you that you might be upset that you paid way too much elsewhere. Had suspension work done. after damage was assessed, 1 part ($112) + $138 in labor + $99 for alignment. Your car will be finished end of day. Show up to pick up car, nope it's not ready we ordered the wrong part. Fine, come back tomorrow to pick up and now bill is $780. Oops, our bad again- we've got a bunch of labor here that needs to be taken off. Now it's $430. still more than what I was told over the phone prior day but i pay anyway. never received invoice, had to callback and to have sent. then i find that i was charged for 2 parts. Now i'm wondering if i was charged for the part that was ordered by mistake. find out labor per hour is $138.74... such an obscure number and really pricey for an independent shop. i just found that overall experience was very confusing. communication could have been so much better. their labor rate is less than dealership ($175) but not by much. honestly i would have rather paid the extra $35 for dealership level quality and service. Also, found that part brand new online for $77 oem. read more

Have a BMW M3 E93 and was having trouble with fluctuating idle intermittently and getting a "Close Gas Cap" message. Bought a new cap that didn't fix it. Then it started throwing a P0442 code. Spoke to Ryan at German Import Auto Repair and he discussed smoke leak testing the evaporative system. He found the leak ordered the fuel tank valve, installed it and re-smoked the system BAM!
