When I asked about addressing more common causes first (such as O sensors, exhaust leaks, or data showing sensor behavior), I was told those likely wouldn't matter and that the code would "just keep coming back," without providing any live data, testing results, or proof to justify replacing one of the most expensive components on the car. I was repeatedly told "it's your money," yet the approach felt like jumping straight to the highest-cost repair rather than proper diagnostics. On top of that, a previous A/C repair was said to be resolved when it was not, which raises further concerns about accuracy and follow-through. I was told by Costco after rotating my tires that I needed to get alignment and/or shocks and struts. I went to Extreme Auto, received 15% discount, and they did all of the above and new brakes. Extreme did a fine job but forgot to tighten the spare tire underneath back of car. My car became a rattle- trap until I realized that it had only started after Extreme had worked on new shocks in the same area. I had to make an appt. then travel there, Lyft self home then return because they failed initially to re- tighten the spare they loosened. So basically good work but there was an inconvenient oversight. CAVEAT EMPTOR: they promise a loaner car they never provide. read more

My husband dropped off his work truck at 7:30am last week to be worked on. The AC wasn't working and there was an idle issue at higher RPMs. He visited them a week earlier and was told they wouldn't be able to work on it until the following Tuesday. The expectation was it we be looked at and we would get it fixed that day baring issues with getting parts. As the day wore on, we hadn't heard anything from EAR. AT approximately 1:30 to 2:00 we were running errands and drove by to see if the truck was being worked on and to our dismay, the truck had not moved one inch since it was parked that morning. We immediately called and asked what the progress was and was told they were trying to figure out what the fast idle was and was told "they will be calling". (EAR closes at 5:30). We waited patiently and ended up having to call them at 5:10 to see what was up. Answer "it's in the garage now being looked at". The end result was a huge waist of our time. The truck wasn't fixed or was attempted to be fixed. The whole day was a waste of time in leaving it just to sit only to have them look at the end of the day and just get us an estimate. We will never use, nor will we ever recommend EAR!!!! read more

My review is mixed. I decided to try these guys based on the 15% off for Costco members even though it was a little bit far away from me. I took both my cars there, both Toyotas, older models. On the first vehicle, I was very impressed because they diagnosed the problem as one thing and then found out that it was actually two things, and they had missed the first thing, but they made it right by not charging me for the first item and charging me solely for the second item. My car runs just fine, so they did a good job. Yet, when I brought my second vehicle there for some basic maintenance, I felt nickeled and dimed. Beyond just the basic maintenance things, there was only one item of actual concern. But despite this, I was sold on multiple flushes that weren't necessary. And, I dislike when garages attempt to sell me unnecessary services. But all in all, it's a decent place. I don't know that I'll return due to my experience and due to the distance it is for me. read more

We have taken different cars here over the years and always had a decent experience. Unfortunately, when trying to get my stepdaughter's car maintained, we had a bad experience and lost money. The goal was getting her car ready to go on a road trip, plus changing her snow tires out for her regular tires. The work Extreme performed included a $94.95 vehicle inspection, switching out the tires, an alignment, an oil and filter change - this was $327.14, plus they recommended new brake pads and rotors and estimated that cost to be upward of $720. That seemed steep to us, so we held off and decided to take it to Brakes Plus for a second opinion three days later. Brakes Plus performed a FREE vehicle inspection. They told us that there was NO air filter in the car at all and that the oil is dark when it should be the color of caramel. They also were surprised to learn that we had had the alignment done three days earlier because it was pulling to one side significantly. Finally, they said that the rotors did NOT need to be replaced, only the brake pads. So, we paid about $500 to have the pads replaced, the oil changed (again) and an air filter added. It was disappointing to pay over $300 for work that had to be done again, with the exception of the tire switch-out. I called the service manager at Extreme and relayed this to him, and he offered going over the car again and showing us everything. I declined, because 1) we didn't trust them to complete the work that hadn't been done correctly the first time, and 2) it would have turned a task that should have been done in one trip into three trips. Instead, I asked for a refund of a part of the work - the alignment and part of the vehicle inspection (considering they either missed that there was no air filter or took it out and didn't put it back). Mike, the service manager, said he'd have to call me back because he had to get approval. I never got a call back and so never received a fair resolution. read more

We took our 2013 Jeep Wrangler with 60K to Extreme Auto for the 2nd time (the first time was for a problem with the heater not blowing hot air, which they messed up too and did not fix after several attempts and $$ finally fixed it, kind of) for issues with the car stalling while moving, cutting in and out, losing power, and intermittent starting. We explained the weird sound it makes when it wouldn't start, nothing like a battery or any starting system problem. Although. I replaced the battery with them to make sure. They kept the Jeep a few days and insisted that it was the alternator and Mike, the mechanic, said he GUARANTEED it was the alternator, even though my wife insisted that it did not sound and act like an alternator problem and there were no check engine light or codes that showed up. After Mike guaranteed that it was the alternator, guarantee in my book means you back up your work or refund the money, we reluctantly agreed since he was absolutely positive it was the alternator. We picked up the Jeep and paid close to $700. That evening, it would not start at the Safeway in Parker. It had to be jumped. So, we took it to the Jeep dealer. They said that it is ridiculous that they would change out the alternator without a check engine light or a code. Basically saying, they ripped us off. The dealer found that Extreme Auto had installed the alternator wrong and when they put the battery in, they did not tighten the cable terminals. So, the dealer did that for us and we picked it up. At this point, we contacted Extreme Auto, and them knowing at this point they made a mistake, offered $300 back to us because the manager, Shawn, felt that the alternator had a lifetime warranty and was worth the other $$$ we spent. Well, the Jeep, while driving down Parker Road and turning onto Hilltop, started losing power and stalled in the far left turn lane. After about 10 tries, it started just fine and started all through the evening and the next morning. We drove it back to the dealer and they drove it around a bit and finally, it stalled on them. They checked for codes and it was the crank shaft position sensor. They replaced this and again said it did not have anything to do with the starting system like my wife said all along. We contacted Extreme Auto back by email and explained what the actual issue was and asked for the remainder of the refund since the original alternator was perfectly good and did not need to be replaced. We have not heard a word back from them after 4 days. We sent another email this morning and hope to hear that they will refund the remainder of the charges. I hope so because the lifetime warranty on the alternator is worthless since we will never get any repairs from Extreme Auto again. read more

They have a floating scale on their charges, be careful. They don't tell you up front what the shop labor rate is. As it was explained to me, some times brakes may run $75.00 per hour and other things run $140.00 per hour. Really $140.00 per hour based on book? Mia is the worst service writer I have ever dealt with. I have dealt with a lot of them, I have a fleet of 45 vehicles. She doesn't call back as she promises, she has list of issues for your vehicle and doesn't tell you. A serpentine belt that needs to be replaced is a pretty big deal. Stay away a terrible shop in my opinion. read more

I used this place from the recommendation from a coworker for a timing belt job. First of all, this is one of those NAPA auto service centers. Hence they use NAPA parts. Meaning OEM equivalent, not OEM which is what I REQUESTED and they took an opportunity to upcharge. Now, that would have been fine IF they actually used OEM parts as I requested for the timing belt job. Even as I requested to see the OEM parts receipt they refused. I see NAPA labels on belts! As a part of timing belt change the car's design REQUIRES replacing valve cover gasket because there is NO WAY TO open the timing belt cover without loosening the valve cover. so they broke the seal of the valve cover gasket without replacing it. Now the valve cover leaks and the oil is all over the engine! No, I do not recommend this place at all or any place that would claim they use OEM parts unless I see the billing receipt and package labels from the OEM (dealer) parts. read more

My car requires about 8 quarts of full synthetic oil which is SUPER expensive at places like Brakes Plus ($75?!?!) and at Extreme Auto they charge me less than half of that and my car's always done under an hour. I have had to get my cv axles replaced for quite some time and so my boyfriend and his dad decided to take on this endeavor as most men do. After replacing the passenger side axle with a bit of trouble, it was the driver's side axle that was impossible. After almost two days of work, the thing wouldn't budge. My boyfriend's dad went to a few places around town and they wouldn't do the repair/replacement of our axle with our own part until he went to Extreme Auto Repair. These demi-Gods were able to remove this immovable object from my car with a LOT of strength, patience, and whatever else they used. They used the part we brought in so I only had to pay for labor. Then a month later they say there is a strut issue - they want another $800. At this point of course I smell a rat and go somewhere else. My family and I have been loyal customers for 12 years and we're always happy with the service until recently, within the last year or so, we've been getting treated very poorly and received less than stellar service on our cars. The straw that broke the camel's back for me however, was my most recent visit, where I went in to fix a rattling sound and a couple other minor issues. I had an appointment at 9 and made it clear I needed the diagnostic done by 3 to make sure I could get to work on time. didnt receive a call until 3:30 saying they just got in and it needed almost 4 grand of work done. I couldn't afford that so I asked what was essential and was told it all was. So I picked up the car, paid the $100 diagnostic fee and took it to my boyfriend's mechanic the next week. They told me most of the work extreme had quoted me for was unnecessary and did the necessary work for $700 and my cars been running great. I don't know if extreme just doesn't want to work on inexpensive cars like mine anymore, or they just wanted to scam a "young, dumb girl" into spending way more than necessary, but they have lost me and my families business and I will be referring all my friends to my new mechanic. read more

Lifesafer did not report my results since November 16, and now it is my problem to get Lifesafer to report it to the DMV since Extreme is just a contractor. Thanks for all of the help. First of all I'd like to say that I am a disabled veteran of the U.S. Airforce. I had a bad experience with Carmax and the guys at Extreme Auto Repair made it right. They serviced my car since Carmax wasn't able to. I guess their mechanics are inexperienced or "something". I called Extreme Auto Repair and spoke with Matt who assisted me threw out the process. He was professional the whole way through and really took care of me. Mike, the assistant manager really knows how to train his guys. I applaud you all and plan on returning if I ever need any work done on my vehicle while I'm in the Parker area. As I was driving home from Extreme auto I could've sworn there was smoke coming out of the back of my Chevy Cruse. I was panicking and was about to pull over, but my car made it back home. I thought about leaving my vehicle at home and borrow my sister's car but she was going camping so I was forced to take my car to the gym, work and to run errands of course. I still could smell a burnt odor coming from my engine...a little bit, not as much. I am happy to say my lemon did okay today and I am grateful. I need to take it in to get serviced on the first of July since that's when I'll have funds again. My dad had suggested me go to Extreme because they were always honest, friendly and accommodating. I called for an oil change and they were able to get me in very quickly and they have a package where you get a free one and save $$...but even better they did some basic checks and said it's all good! They didn't give me a list of $1,000's of dollars of repairs needed. The story gets better!!! Our car died and was not repairable, and we weren't in a position to go get a new one so my dear, long time, childhood friend has been an angel by offering her car to let us use. While using it I noticed it didn't seem right so I took it back to Extreme to check...they found something wrong with it...I told them my situation and that my friend just lost her husband so I was worried about having to tell her about a large expense right before the memorial service. They called me back and said we don't want to burden you or your friend and took the majority of the cost off!!!! It brought tears to my eyes!! I couldn't believe that they wanted to help and they truly cared!!! These guys are honest and affordable. I made the mistake of getting my brakes done somewhere else and there was an issue. I went back and they told me something else was wrong. I took my car to Extreme Auto Repair for a second opinion and it turns out the brake itself was bad. They told me to go back to the first place and that if they didn't make it right that they would! Extreme rip off auto ruin should be their name! I took my pickup into extreme rip off auto ruin - and they ruined it. They kept it for EVER! It had dash lights when it went in and none when it came out. Nothing they attempted to repair worked at all! They would not explain why I had this problem with their work. They got angry when I asked questions and would not even discuss the issues. They are just the same as the last rip off that had their location - the less than famous Burnes Automotive. This was a good shop before 2014 but now I would not ever go there again. My son took his truck there for an oil change and check. They said he needed new brakes but his brakes were only 1 yr old. He took it to another shop for a look and they said the brakes were new and in perfect shape. Big O Tires even called him back into the bay to see that the brakes were new. Most likely Extreme was going to have him pay for the brakes and then never do anything. A Rip Off! read more
