Seems everyone is always looking for an honest mechanic, a place where they only fix what's needed, never looking for a frivolous add on. Well, Johnny Good could not be more aptly named. These guys are really some of the good guys in the auto repair and maintenance business. When you take your car here, they fix what's needed to be fixed and don't charge an arm and a leg for it. My dad has been taking his car here for years and my sister drives clear across town to get her maintenance and repairs done here. I can see why. I took my dad's car here for an oil change and tire rotation. They didn't even charge for the tire rotation! How awesome is that!? They have a nice, comfortable waiting area with free coffee that ain't too bad. Since moving to Denver from NE last year, losing a trusted mechanic I had back there was tough. Finding Johnny Good eased all that. Johnny has been my mechanic for 5 years. He is 20 miles from my home. I found him originally on Yelp and decided it was time to put my own review. Johnny WON'T do anything to my car that is not necessary. I 100% trust him to work on my car. He will tell you if you have to take it to a dealership if needed because they have to reset something/computer etc. When I originally brought my car to him 5 years ago because the Hyundai Dealership in Littleton told me I needed $750+ in repairs - he told me I didn't need any of those repairs on my car. Another time, I told Johnny I needed an alignment and he questioned me why I thought I needed an alignment. He told me it wasn't necessary. Every time an employee walked into the shop/waiting area they were smiling. There were two bull dogs behind the counter and they let my daughter go back there and play with them. So I have been going to Johnny Good for decades and literally my parents took all their vehicles to him as well. He and his son Jonathan are the most incredible mechanics that I've ever encountered. They go above and beyond the call of duty to make sure that you are getting honest transparent information about what is going on with your vehicle. I can't say enough wonderful things about Johnny Good. I took my 13 year old Ford Focus in this morning. It had rattles EVERYWHERE. After a brief inspection, it was determined I had a bad engine mount. For a reasonable cost, it was replaced and it's an entirely different car. Not a single rattle anywhere. This is the second time I've had my vehicle at Johnny Good. Both times, the service was very prompt and professional, and much less that what I thought it would cost both times. John did a great job taking care of my Hyundai Sonata. I had several minor jobs (gas cap door solenoid and 12v outlet), and a starter issue that I needed him to trouble-shoot. Scheduling was tight, but he got me in as quickly as possible. He was able to take care of the small stuff, but couldn't get the starter issue to repeat. Rather than forcing a fix, he told me a couple of reasons as to why the car may not start, and what to be on the lookout for. I plan on coming back when I can narrow down the issue. When I moved to Colorado, I was leaving my mechanic brother back on the east coast. At the time, my 2007 Chevy Trailblazer had around 220k miles on it. My purge valve wasn't opening after I put gas in my car so I wanted it fixed. Every mechanic I called asking to quote me on the repair insisted that the purge valve wasn't the issue, except for Johnny Good. They had me bring my car in, & called me to inform me it was in fact the purge valve & when he gave me the cost of the repair, I was so surprised I was walking out for about $200 less than I expected. When I lived in Aurora, I only took my car to Johnny Good. The downside is that they're so amazing that sometimes you have to book your repair about 2 weeks out, but if you can wait, they're worth it. One time I was there picking up my car, and I heard them discussing repairs with an elderly woman. There's a lot of stigmas about shops taking advantage of people, but I really admired that the man was explaining to her the repairs on her car that needed to be fixed sooner than later, and that there were some that could be later rather than sooner. It's credible to me that they didn't just try to take her money & make her get all of the repairs that instant. My car now has 240k miles on it & runs like a champ. Trustworthy and fair are words not usually used to describe an auto mechanic (here's where the but comes in), but I have and will continue to use them when speaking of Johnny Good's. At some point your vehicle will need to be serviced. It's an unfortunate fact of automobile ownership. When that time comes you can take it to the dealer and pay through the nose, or beseech your friends, family and neighbors for the name of a reputable and honest mechanic. I opted for the latter and Jonathon's name came up more than once and was followed by another word not often heard of when describing mechanics - "honest". Jonathon has serviced my Mini Cooper and my wife's VW Golf and offered upfront and fair quotes each time. I've replaced the Mini with a Subaru Forester which is nearing a 30K check up and have no qualms about bringing it into Johnny Goods. He knows his stuff, is customer service oriented and offer you a fair price that is well below any dealer's price even with coupons. The drive from Morrison to Aurora may be inconvenient, but it is well worth the alternative. read more

This is the most WONDERFUL, HONEST, RELIABLE, TRUSTWORTHY auto repair shop EVER! Jonathan is super friendly and explains everything perfectly. Last week my engine light came on & I called in a panic. Jon said to bring it by and he'd do a quick diagnostic test and see what was wrong. I did. My gas cap wasnt on all the way. Once, I picked up my car after being serviced and when I was almost home I discovered a strange garage door opener on my passenger seat. Called Jon...him and his dad had been looking all over for the opener to the shop garage door. He just told me to drop it off when I had time. Please do yourself a favor and give Johnny's a try the next time you even just need an oil change. Heads up, they are soon to be moving a few blocks from their current location to a bigger shop. Johnny Good was recommended to me by a friend. I had been given an estimate by a dealership as to what I needed to have serviced (approx. $2K). I took the list to Johnny Good; they inspected my car and serviced what needed to be addressed. They gave me a time frame as to when the other items may need to be addressed (approx. 20K miles) and I walked out under $500. The shop is amazingly clean, the owners are so patient and honest. I recently bought a used car and of course a week after I get it, there's squeaking & a problem with the belt. A friend suggests the belt tensioner might be having a problem. So, after reading the great reviews, I call Johnny Good and schedule an appointment for about 6 days in advance (there is kind of a wait). I specifically asked for the belt and belt tensioner to be replaced. Another auto shop quoted me $744 for the whole job, so when Johnny Good estimated me $200-$300, I was very pleased. Except- they did not do what I asked. While they could have done as I asked and replaced both, they did something incredibly honest. I came to pick my car up and he told me someone had put the wrong size belt on, and that the tensioner was fine, so he only replaced the belt for me. I was very very pleased with that. I ended up paying less than one hundred bucks in the end and I'm going back in another week and hopefully they can help me with my A/C. In addition..the person who I picked my car up from was incredibly nice. In my experiences, customer service has never been particularly good with auto shops but he just had a genuinely sincere attitude, and I can really appreciate that. I think it may have been Jonathon. This is an excellent, honest car repair place with very reasonable prices. John listens carefully to my explanation of the problem, and fixes the car within a day. When I pick it up, he gives a thorough explanation of what was wrong, and how they fixed it. Generally I have to wait a few days for an appointment, but it's well worth it. I had a problem with my Toyota Camry and I came to Johnny Good a little discouraged. I just picked my car up from the other mechanic that charged me $300 but failed to fix my problem. I was worried and nervous about what to do next. After having just dealt with a dishonest repair shop, I did some research and decided to give Johnny Good a try. There was a week wait - but I decided finding an honest, good mechanic is worth the wait. So I made my appointment. Upon arrival I was greeted by the owner's son who was very, very polite and pleasant to work with. He gave me a realistic time frame and set the correct expectations for me. I got a phone call the next day that the part I needed was almost $1,400 from the dealership - but not to worry....Johnny Good was going to call around for me and find a used part and have it shipped in to save me money. Talk about great customer service! They called and found the part and had it delivered and installed within two days! Not to mention my total was only $528 - instead of over $1,400....because of the extra mile they went for me. My car was ready when they said it would be and at the price they initially quoted me. When I picked up my car I was greeted by the owner and his son who were both very, very friendly and showed me the old part and explained exactly what went wrong and why - very informative. Book appointment in advance- they fill up quick because of stellar service. Had my Dodge in on a Friday to get new ball joints and suspension, turned out all the bolts were seized and they had to wrench on the rusty old girl late into the night. As of today I am a customer for life! I recently purchased a used Subaru Legacy- engine light came on so I took it to Shortline Subaru...dealership should know what is up, tricks for fixes etc etc right? I walked away from Shortline with a quote for $3976.90, including a $1751 charge for the new catalytic converter that was needed to make that check engine light go off. I called Johnny Good after I was referred by a coworker, to cost compare that price of the cat. conv. Immediately, I was asked what type of gas I use, WHERE I buy my gas, last service date etc...and the long story short is that I do not need a quarter of the work recommended by Shortline (including that unnecessary Catalytic Converter) and IF i do need any thing from their list, John's worst case price was about $900 bucks for EVERYTHING; a fourth of the dealerships. Super friendly, super honest, and a JOY to work with. I was referred because I am a Subaru owner and they know them extremely well, but if you are anywhere near this shop in Aurora it needs to be your go to for mechanical needs on any vehicle. read more

I'm starting off this review by having been ripped off by mechanics in the past (see other review) so I was already skeptical walking in. I had called and made an appointment and actually had to call back and reschedule. I spoke to johnathon both times and he was very polite and friendly. The automotive shop is off a quiet side street and I went right after they opened so only a couple of other customers were there. I was immediately greeted and we went over what I needed assessed and worked on. He also was able to give me a price quote and length of time with no surprise charges which was awesome! The secretary was also very nice and showed me where the restroom was. Overall I felt good about my experience and wasn't treated unfairly because of my race or sex which is all I could ask for. My father in law, wife , son, daughter in law, have all been taking our cars there exclusively. Anything from oil changes to major repairs. We will not go anywhere else. In fact, Jonathan advised me on which car I should buy from a repair standpoint. I absolutely trust his advice or opinion. Here's an example of their honesty. This summer my car wouldn't start. I tried jumping it and nothing. I called a tow truck. He tried jumpstarting it with the same result. It was towed to Johnny Good. I explained what was wrong and left it in his hands. It was Friday so I expected it to be in the shop for a few days. 20 minutes later John calls me and says I hope you're not to far from the shop. Your car is running and ready to go! We turned around and picked it back up. Not sure what happened, but it did simply need a battery charge. Its been fine since then. Some car repair shops would have kept it over the weekend and made up something that was wrong with a $500 price.
