Salmon Avocado Roll Rainbow Roll Shrimp Tempura
    Mais S.

The service was fast. The waiter gave us water and took our orders and brought up everything very fast. The salmon tasted fresh. I love a good salmon avocado role and I could taste the salmon melting in my mouth. I also felt like the prices were very reasonable for New York, for 6 pieces salmon avocado it was $6!! The room was very small. It wasn't busy at all, there was one person there before us and another pepper came before we left. It was clean, fast, and a good price! I would come again for sure!

    Sushi and sashimi lunch

I get their lunch special usually, the sushi and sashimi lunch. It's around 17 for 4 prices of sushi, a roll, and 8-9 piece of thin sashimi. I swear it used to be that sashimi got rice. But no rice. Just the sushi/ sashimi with a side of soup or salad

    Chirashi Lunch (with salad)

Called in for a pick up order of their chirashi lunch special. Walked in with a friend who ordered when we got in. She got an avocado shrimp roll with salad (also off the lunch special menu i think). I sat down to eat my salad while i waited but they finished her order literally in a few minutes. I had barely gotten through much of my salad. She thought her roll was ok. I really liked my chirashi. So much that i might order it again tomorrow the fish was fresh and soft, almost buttery. There was a good amount of fish to rice. Pretty good value. The space inside was small, not much to mention. Staff was fine and so quick. While my friend was ordering, the men behind the counter were clarifying what she wanted so they could make it asap. Love that! Good value overall.

Negamaki Bento Box Special. They slide 2 or 3 veggies in with the shrimp tempura.

They just so happened to leave their take-out menus on our stoop on a Saturday when I didn't feel like cooking. It was good enough, but we paid a lot extra for what we got. We ordered two Bento Box specials -- one with pork katsu and the other with negamaki, both with shrimp tempura. Both came with 6 pieces California roll, rice, 2 pieces shumai, and salad. All for $18.50 each. That price was not so bad, but then there was the $6.58 delivery fee + the $1.50 online ordering fee plus tax. And then the tip was calculated on top of that total instead of the subtotal, a not so pleasant surprise for my pocketbook. (UPDATE: it appears these fees are from 3rd party service MenuStar.) I was excited that they offer brown rice since I'm diabetic , but they forgot to make that sub. So sad, but I ate half the white rice anyway. Nicely packaged, quick delivery, ample servings.

Teriyaki chicken tasted like boiled chicken strips with a weak teriyaki sauce, tiny pieces of California roll. Miso soup was good, would not go here again. Nice staff and ambiance though

California roll and Shrimp Tempura Roll

I've ordered take out and picked up from this location and sushi is always on point! I ordered the kamikaze roll, shrimp tempura and California rolls all of which were delicious. While going to order for pickup I saw the sushi chefs prepare the sushi right in front of me, they seemed so focused. Their ingredients are so fresh and their care and precision is evident through their quality of work. The hostess was so kind to let me wait inside for my order, the space is small but quaint and cozy , really had a nice calm vibe to it. Sushi is so good I forget to take a photo of it before I dig in lol - This is my go to spot for sushi!

    Sake Don

A small little sushi spot on Amsterdam Ave, it has good sushi for a really good price. There is not that much seating but if you call for To-Go orders they will have it ready in less than 10 mins. The Lunch Special is the way to go, it is available from 11-4 on Mon-Sat. 3 rolls and a soup or salad is only 12.50! I get the 3 Salmon Avocado rolls and they are stuffed. You won't be disappointed by ordering those. I have dined in and got the Sake Don. It had a lot of Salmon and seasoned sushi rice to accompany it. I thought it was good, and definitely satisfied my crave for some fresh salmon.

Would not recommend it. Typical low cost sushi that entails poor fish quality and execution in making. The sushi rice was not made right too.

Sushi to-go, delivered and enjoyed on the roof!

The sushi is good and inexpensive. The interior is just big enough for dining in, so it seems like more of a takeout restaurant.

The atmosphere here was a bit more lively and crowded compared to the more relaxed vibe of the UWS spot. I enjoyed my meal even more this time around. I started with the beet salad, which was delicious and offered great value given the generous portion size. it featured sliced beets, arugula, goat cheese, and walnuts. I also had my eye on the hijiki soybean salad--which is a bit smaller and reportedly homemade--so I may try that next time, along with the warm mushroom salad which looked very tasty. The edamame was standard but served as a nice starter. For my main rolls, I chose the salmon avocado and the yellowtail scallion. Both were very fresh and definitely worth ordering again. The salmon avocado roll had a nice touch of sesame seeds on the rice, while the yellowtail scallion was prepared with the seaweed on the outside. My boyfriend's sushi entree looked excellent, so I am considering that or the sushi-sashimi combo for my next visit. The entrees provide a substantial amount of food, and I especially appreciate that they allow you to choose which roll comes with your meal.

They share a takeout menu and it's super easy to order--text what you want to the phone number on the website and pickup in ~20 minutes :). You pay on a handheld and they don't ask for tip for takeout. I love this process and truly wish more sushi restaurants in LA adopt the takeout box. The only one I know of is hefty but also $200 each lol, making Sanyuu's $69 omakase and $78 Everything don, not to mention the $30 giant salmon nigiri set, A STEAL! I enjoyed most of the pieces but I will say I don't like their amaebi or uni at all. I'm not sure what kind of uni is used here but it's the type with a very strong mineral flavor & aftertaste that I don't find enjoyable. We're spoiled by easy access to live spot prawns everywhere and fresh SB uni. Despite this, I wouldn't hesitate to come back if I lived in the city.

To be honest, I was getting a little nauseated after 5 pieces, haha~ They were definitely delicious but I'd probably just eat 3 or 4 pieces and share with a friend! It was easy to text the number on the website and coordinate a pickup time, and the staff was friendly when I arrived. The restaurant is a little hard to find as the windows are blinded and the sign is a piece of paper on the door.
