It's just your average mom and pop store with some good cuts of beef. They're $$$ pricey but you can't get those cuts anywhere near here.

Love having a small grocery store close to Sultan, however it is extremely difficult to give them my hard-earned money due to the negative attitude and disrespectful behavior from the Meat Department Butcher lady. For a small grocer this place has the basics anyone would need in the kitchen. Obviously you can't expect the kind of stock you'd see at a standard-size grocery store, but the convenience of this place is worth something too. EEEEEWWW! I shopped at the Red Apple today, where I observed a number of patrons wandering, shopping, without a mask on! Most of the patrons, myself included, were wearing our Anti-Covid masks, as required by law (and common sense!). It was not only those patrons who were not wearing a mask but I saw a known employee in the store also not wearing a mask, hob-knobbing in close contact with the customers! None of the Red Apple employees approached the non-mask shoppers to remind them of the State requirement for masks, and the rationale for the necessity; the welfare of everyone in the building. It is one thing to be careless with your own welfare, but to be careless about others? BAD! The coronavirus IS in our Sultan, WA area, known infected persons are here-and-there. Such laissez faire care of customers gives me the creeps! I have a medical training background, and I am careful to avoid viruses, seasonal as well as novel. They provide exactly what is intended - a convenient place to shop for basic groceries near home or for seasonal travelers. Sure, the prices are elevated and they don't carry everything, but I am always pleasantly surprised at what I can find. The employees are always pleasant, and work hard to maintain a clean environment, and to clear out aging foods and find items appropriate discounts for the bargain bins. read more

I've stopped in here many times as it's near my house, but I have to take my business elsewhere. Multiple times the cashier has not been wearing a mask, and I just can't take the risk. Been a customer for over 50 years, now I'm gone. No one wears a mask, have been in there a number of times and customers are not wearing masks, nor employees. This is where you go when you're too lazy to drive to Monroe, or forgot to get something when you were in Monroe! They're very expensive, and check your receipt because the sale prices don't always show up. I've grabbed items out of the sale bin and have been charged full price too. They also sell items that are on, or past the pull dates. This store is locally owned by the same people that own the Family Grocer in Gold Bar, and Duvall. I'm giving them two stars for having a decent selection for such a small store, and for being open until 10pm. I used to shop here. I stopped because the employees (cashiers) don't wear masks as required by law and no one cares. They also don't care that many customers aren't wearing them either. We've shopped here at this store every week for years and years, for both my entire family but right now for my elderly mom I right now I just can't risk it. I shop here about once a week - mainly for items that are not worth driving to Monroe to get. They have a pretty good selection for a small store. I give them only 1 star because they allow their employees to not wear masks while working in public spaces. This shows both a lack of respect for the law and for their customers - if they have people with serious respiratory problems, they should either be working in the back or wear face shields. Seems there are no good reasons not to enforce mask mandates at least for employees. read more

My fiance and his son went in the store today to get some spaghetti sauce and they were only in there for 2 minutes and the older man (short in his 50's) approached them accusing them of stealing something and they were so offended that they had to leave the store. Mind you my fiance works in customer service at Stevens pass for the last 10 years and the kiddo is a 4.0 student. Just because the way the dressed (skaters and tattoos) does not mean they are criminals. I'm appalled by how they were treated at this store that I will drive extra time to go to Monroe to buy stuff. I have been there many times since I moved here 3 years ago and I have to say I haven't had the pleasant experience here either. There has been a few times where there was really nice staff working there. The young gals tend to be more customer service oriented whereas there is an older lady that is a complete ass. I will gladly drive extra 5 minutes to Monroe and do my shopping now on. You have lost our service. read more

I had an issue with some stinky meat and the head butcher lady (complete and depressed snot ) did her best to remedy it by blaming my lack of knowledge concerning meat processing procedures and then told me I didn't have to shop there any more. I can't thank her enough. She must have assumed, that like some people from Sultan, I didn't know I had a choice. I leave no stars except for the one that the Yelp site won't let me delete. I am not the only person that has had a problem with this snot and the owners won't fire her cause they are convinced she works hard. Works hard at destroying local business if you ask me. Thats why you never any one there with a full cart. They are good for toilet paper and only if you have a loved one stranded at home. 5 stars for the meat quality and convenience(Also to counter the stupidly low ratings). It's a small town grocer, yeah the prices are higher than Walmart but not having to go to Monroe is worth it. Selections are good and staff is great. Virtually all the bad comments are bull. I've shopped here for 10 years and not once had to return something bad. read more

I cant stress this enough about this store but dont waste your money. A small town grocery store with 17 slots on the shelf for extra virgin olive oil. Who needs that much of a selection of EVOO?! They don't carry olive oil. In fact when I asked about it they told me they havent heard of regular olive oil. ARE YOU KIDDING ME? I have issue after issue of them. Hands down the most pothetic customer "service" experience of my life. Got there 20 minutes before closing, knowing full well when the close and that I would be able to get my shopping done before they close. As soon as I stepped foot in the store, this guy gets on the intercom and announces they close in 15 minutes and to come to the cashier immediately. Not only was his clock off but he had the gull to make another announcement 5ish minutes later, stating again to check out now. The first announcement was off-putting. The second announcement pissed me off. When I was checking out I mentioned that it seemed rude to me. Keli, the other person close by chimed in with, "It's rude when people come right before closing." I realize this is a small town but there is no room in my world for blatent assholeism. I gave Keli a very patient customer service 101 statement and her response was, "Will you just stop?" In what world do you live that you think you can talk to paying customers like this? I am writing this to warn other potential shoppers and to call out the horrible management that preside. I'm calling the manager and will likely be back on here with another rant... read more

The best meat & produce around! The meat is very fresh, cut correctly, and the prices are fair. The produce is really fresh, and there's a good variety. I like the fact that there's local produce throughout the seasons. I will pass up the chain stores in Monroe, Albertson's & Safeway, just top get the produce & meat here. The store is always clean, arranged correctly, and the employees are helpful & friendly. This is a good small town store! read more

The only reason i give it 1star is because the people working there are friendly. The prices are so jacked up, it tries breaking my bank account with a simple small purchase. the sad thing is they could, as a business, be making so much more profit if they would lower their prices. Only reason i shop here is for the extremely must have occassions like if need something and dont have time to goto monroe. The only regret that I have regarding living in a smaller town (besides the tweekers) is small town grocery stores. The price for everything is so inflated, it kills me a little more each time that I forgot an ingredient for dinner and have to come here or just have a craving for something salty/sweet. The selection is mediocre and watch for outdates on food/dairy. Other than that, the employees are wonderful. If you only buy the items on sale then it's not so bad either. Poor liquor selection but they manage with what room they have on the shelf. read more

I write this review in the context of Sultan. And if you live in the Sultan area you know EXACTLY what I mean. Surprisingly, this little market is well stocked for pantry basics. The selection is narrow and prices are much higher than regular groceries stores 20 minutes down the road in Monroe. My wife went in with a large bill and bought some chewing gum. Doesn't say anything to the cashier Laurie to provoke anything. My wife hands her the bill and Laurie looks at my wife and says, "Really BITCH? We're not a bank!" Would zero stars if possible. We are locals who shopped here a few times a week. This evening. 5/8/2015, my son and my grand daughter (7 years old) were in your store. My Granddaughter was nauseated and close to vomiting all over your store. My son approached 3 of your employees. He excused himself, and politely asked for a plastic bad so his daughter wouldn't puke all over your floors. Your employees ignored him! After the 3rd time asking, one of your clerks responded with, "What do you want?" He asked again, stating, "a plastic bad so my daughter doesn't puke on your floor" Clerk points, says "over there". My son got the plastic bag, then YOUR clerk says to MY SON...."Now you PEOPLE have to LEAVE". EXCUSE ME....WHO THE HELL EMPLOYS this type of person?? I raised my children to respect others....THANK GOODNESS his demeanor and patience is A LOT better than mine. He held his tongue and left the store. Oh yeah, did I mention he was carrying my grand daughter and she was crying because she was so ill. I assume that people of COLOR are not treated with ANY type of respect in your place of business. But just for the record, my son is part black, HAWAIIAN, German, Chinese, Filipino, Spanish and Portugese. The mother of my grand child is WHITE and SHE lives in Sultan.
