I fear such a place may not succeed in the backwaters of Monroe, but business spaces have too high a rent in other areas closer to larger populations. My family and I have not experienced anything close to that at this store. Both the men and women were very helpful, let me admire their produce and culture (even let me take pictures and videos) & eagerly answered the few questions I did have. We had such an enjoyable experience that we came back the next day to buy more food & sweet treats. In regard to the ambiance, this grocery store isn't the biggest by any means. It's about the size of a NY bodega/convenience store, so don't expect to be able to find any and everything you usually can at other places. However their produce is fresh & all the meat, cheese and dessert products we have tried were all very good (certainly much healthier than the preservative and filler packed foods you'll find at your local WalMart, QFC, etc). A worker at the front counter greeted me when I entered the store and food items were straightforward to find and browse. I love mango and was pleased to find a variety of mango offerings both in terms of brand offerings for a particular item (such as mango fruit drink) and in terms of different items. I went with a Shezan mango fruit drink and a Mezban mango cupcakes frozen item. The total came in at less than five dollars and my cash payment method was accepted. Both items were delicious.
