    garlic cheese bread
    Pam M.

my mom and I enjoyed a lunch in this small little restaurant in Petaluma. We had the soup of the day which was a bean soup and their salad of the day that we shared. The bean soup was good, but not exceptional. The salad was very good. It had almonds pomegranates goat cheese, along with some greens. There were other ingredients that I'm not sure what they were, but the salad was delicious and there was ample. Amount that we were able to share it and take some home with us. we also had their garlic cheese bread, which was really good We sat at a small table and the place was comfortable The staff were very friendly and very attentive

Chicken Alfredo Fettuccine with mushrooms and pine nuts
    Gary K.

Warm, friendly service that is just the right amount of attention. The setting was perfect for dinner with friends or a romantic date. The bustle and noise is enough that your conversations would not be easily overheard, and yet table talk carries over perfectly. Our dinner started with an amazing bruschetta trip... Sorry, no pictures as we dived in like hungry vultures to fresh meat. We had the warm artichoke, prosciutto, and smoked salmon. Each was perfectly balanced with taste and nuance. The appetizer set the stage perfectly for the main course. I had the chicken fettuccine Alfredo with pine nuts and mushrooms. The Alfredo sauce was as perfect as it comes. Texture was text-book, creamy and almost "dry". I tasted a little lemon zest that elevated the sauce with a little brightness. The pasta was a hair less al dente than I prefer, but I am sure that others might have thought it perfect. My wife had the burger which was served on a perfect ciabatta square roll. Crunchily crusty with soft, airy crumb, it was the perfect bed for a large, thick, flavorful patty that was cooked perfectly medium-rare as requested. Served with a simple lettuce salad and roasted potato. The tomato-based sauce on the shrimp and seafood fettuccine was also perfectly balanced. The taste of tomato enhanced by the possible addition of sun-dried tomato for huge flavor without being too sour or tart. Huge portions! So large that we couldn't face dessert even though the plates we saw passing by looked epic!

Nice experience and ambiance overall, but there were a couple of important things that were missing. 1. The menu was somewhat limited. Too many risotto dishes including on the specials, and not as much variety on other dishes. No lasagna, no bolognese, no carbonara, no cacio e pepe, which are all among classic dishes you'd expect from an Italian place. What they did offer was tasty. We also loved the lavender panna cotta. 2. The main issue was with our server, who seemed nice enough but fell short twice. She stopped by to take our orders, wrote down mine, answered the questions of the next person, then somehow she decided for herself that we needed more time to decide, so she left in the middle of it. Several minutes later she came back to collect the glasses, we were still ready, yet she left again. She had never asked us if we needed more time. Finally, we had asked if they would substitute a meat item on the salad with a vegetarian ingredient that was on the menu. She said yes. When the salad arrived a while later, it was missing either of the items. She walked away. When I asked, she said that she just told the kitchen to remove the meat. We never understood why she wouldn't simply tell us if the substitute wasn't an option.

I have found my favorite and number 1 Chicken Marsala at Sugo!! It has plenty of mushrooms and the flavor is mouth watering. Chicken Marsala is the one staple I always order in an Italian restaurant. The mashed potatoes and vegetables came with it really complimented the whole dish. The burrata and meatball were the 2 appetizers that we got and we could almost lick the plate! We love it so much that we already want to come back again soon! No reservation in the restaurant. I would think come early is best since seatings are limited.

Bruschetta Trio: left to right (the classic, apple/brie/honey/almonds, olive/goat cheese)
    Victoria G.

Pleasant surprise to find out our bruschetta trio was only $7 during happy hour! So fun to try different toppings! but the olive bruschetta had waaay too much olive tapenade which overpowered the goat cheese with its saltiness. We loooved the classic bruschetta the most so I guess you can't go wrong with the basics! If you had to order one entree, get the gnocchi with gorgonzola cream sauce!!! SO delicious omg. I've even been to Italy and this gnocchi dish is top tier. Such a light and creamy sauce. Add a few sprinkles of black pepper on top which I thought brings out more rich flavors of the sauce!! Sadly, the angel hair rustico was not great. Found the sauce to be bland and the meatballs to be plain. Not really worth getting. Overall the service is quick, the gnocchi is a dish I will be thinking about for awhile, and they have a great happy hour for apps and wine. Would visit again!

Ok I just ordered door dash from here again last night for myself & it was so so good AGAIN! I don't know how the pasta stays perfectly cooked all the way to Cotati but it does! I was craving fettuccine Alfredo lol so I ordered it without salmon & extra sauce. It had fresh diced tomato & spinach in it. Delicious! I ordered the side salad with sub romaine and it was fantastic! Great please to sit in house or take out if you need to! I didn't take pics this time I dived right into my pasta!

Verdura pasta- 5/5 delicious! Bruschetta - basic. I did not enjoy the Brie and apple one. Was very dry. (3/5) They also cater to making a kid friendly pasta dish. Ambience- family friendly Service- fast!

Their kale ceaser salad is one of the best salads I've ever had. My coworkers and I come here often, either for takeout or a sit down. The service is always quick. This cozy spot is perfect for a lunch meeting or date night.

A cozy and elegantly festive vibe with Petaluma's beautiful tree through the window.

Such a great experience. Our server was attentive, yet gave us space. The food was delicately seasoned (the burrata appetizer and the crème brûlée dessert were especially amazing). The decor had a modern yet inviting flair. I will definitely go again:)

First time visit to this little charming restaurant! We came on a Friday and it was very hard to park - so just know that. Small parking lot in front, and street parking. The restaurant is in a small brick building with other restaurants. Super cute. Seating out front with umbrellas and heaters. The restaurant is small and very cozy and romantic. The kitchen is open so you can see the flames and the chefs. There is a small bar. Great wine list! The hostess was very sweet to us and welcoming. Our waitress was efficient. The food was just not as amazing as the service and ambiance. Neither of us loved our food. It was good, but not great. The risotto was like soup - very watery and that texture is unenjoyable... There was TONS of spinach in it which just added to the soggy mess. Very little flavor...I had to salt it a lot. The fettucine alfredo had rotisserie chicken on it which was good, but just made the entire dish taste like rotisserie chicken. Again, also, the sauce was very watery and thin.... The garlic bread was delicious. The value/pricing was on point I believe. We might come back - but try different food items.

They don't take reservations, Sugo is walk-in only

    How far from Petaluma Koa?

I think about 5 miles. Go South on Stony Point, right on Petaluma Blvd. Then about 4 miles south on Petaluma blvd to downtown Petaluma. Sugos is on the left side .

We were fortunate enough that two adjacent tables were free so they were able to push the tables together and seat our party after a quick wait. Service here was attentive, and I appreciate the table-side cheese and fresh cracked pepper offering after you entree arrives. The top-up on the table bread throughout the evening was nice as well. The food was my biggest issue at Trattoria Roma. While the meatball appetizer was delicious -- super tender, seasoned well, and sauce was tomato forward with just the right amount of tartness, the pasta dishes missed the mark. The texture of the house-made gnocchi was not what I'm used to. When the gnocchi arrived, the gnocchi held its form just fine. However, no more than a few minutes into eating the dish, the gnocchi lost its shape and turned into mush, and the whole dish took on the texture of cheesy mashed potatoes. The pesto sauce I opted for with the gnocchi was heavily diluted and the whole dish needed more salt. My wife's clam linguini dish had overcooked noodles. It's a shame because the clam flavor was quite good in the dish. For a family of four, our dinner came out to about $150 for four pastas and two orders of meatballs. I wouldn't say this was my favorite meal in Downtown Petaluma.

Our waiter was super attentive and friendly, and I have to say service was great! Everything came out in a timely manner. We started out with a glass for Chianti Classico, which is a red wine. It was good, but it was warmer than room temperature. Ive been to Italy and had amazing Italian food, so the bar is set very high for us. We ordered the burrata, spaghetti carbonara, and penne salciccia. The burrata itself was very cold, the balsamic glaze that it came with was hardened, not really smooth where you can dip the burrata or prosciutto with. Having said that, the prosciutto itself was really good and the arugula made it that much better. When I order pasta, I expect the pasta to be al dente, and unfortunately both pasta dishes were too well done. The taste of the penne salciccia was actually very flavorful, and i enjoyed the sausage. The spaghetti carbonara was super heavy and buttery, maybe a little more than I'm used to. Overall, the dishes were tasty but I prefer my pasta to be al dente.

The best I've had anywhere in Sonoma County or Marin County! * I order the first three items on the oyster list (this time two of each) and came up with a new favorite. Then I added four more to the favorite. At 81 I don't do well on short term memory! I love that what was done so right was the lemon and the mignonette (sp?) sauce that was exactly balanced. The last restaurant in Ptown and two absolutely terrible with a red and a white. * Next I ordered a Shrimp Cocktail. They screamed fresh, perfectly boiled that let the shrimp flavor out, and again the red sauce was perfectly balanced between flavor and heat. Had to made in house. And they just nicely crisply cool, not in a cold place that overwhelms the flavor. I don't think I've every had one this good! * Next was a pair of fried oysters. I was prepared for some oily, bready things that would ruin all of the above. BUT NO, the perfect balance was incredible!! * Last was the clam chowder. I'm soooo fussy about this after growing up in the NorthEast (Connecticut) and 4 years of college in Maine blew this one away. It lacked the perfection and freshness of my East Coast standard. But I finished with the last of lemonade and all was well. My standard has never been "perfect." I don't meet that standard, so the chef shouldn't have to either. Hey, maybe he's never been in Maine! P.S. there's not section for this, because the above doesn't happen without OWNERS that create processes and hire people that and buy the best incredients. Kudos, gals!!

Great hotel restaurant. Cool vibe / amazing food…read more Kylie behind the bar was friendly v professional, and knowledgeable about the menu and specials. One downside is that drinks are slow to come out. The restaurant shares the hotel lobby bar. If that bar is busy, it seems like the restaurant dunks are lower priority. Happy hour has some great specials! 2 buck shucks for oysters on the half. The linguine Del Mar had great flavor and plenty of seafood. Four stars because of the speed of the drinks - otherwise, is a must go-to!!
