So I recently had two cakes from Suga's. One for my birthday - keto carrot cake. This cake was divine. I can't believe it's keto, it tasted so good. The cake was light and the frosting so creamy and light yet so buttery. A week after I received this gift I needed to order a birthday cake for someone who is gluten sensitive. Suga's came through again with such a great cake. It was vanilla cake with white chocolate frosting and strawberries. Suga's will customize a cake for almost any diet. Both that I had were amazing. I don't know how they make the frosting but I could eat a tub of it by itself. Suga's is going to be my go-to cake place anytime I need one. I'll be looking for excuses for sure. I'm sad that I have to take a break from it for now, as I am watching my weight, but I'll be dreaming of the cakes and the next one I will be able to have. Can I give 10 stars? I needed a Rum Cake on the quick and I came to the right place. A Rum Cake usually takes at least 12 hours to allow the syrup to soak into the cake, but Patricia made one in less than 6! Not only was this the fastest Rum Cake EVER, but it was easily the best I've had, and I have had tons of fresh Rum Cake in my travels all over the Caribbean. I got a yummy peach cobbler from the lovely Patricia several months ago, so I went back when I needed cupcakes for a coworker's birthday. I got a dozen/variety. I'll admit I didn't check the price first, which is my own fault ($72/dozen) but I went ahead. They were INCREDIBLE! So moist and fluffy, so obviously hand-made with love. Bits of real strawberry in the strawberry cupcakes, carrot cake loaded with shredded carrots, lovely cream-cheese frosting, and not too much of it. To charge $5 dollars for a cupcake that was no different than I could make from a box is outrageous. I mean it was good but no better than any other place. I can understand maybe more for a specialty one but not just for a regular one. My son was buying some for work because they wanted a gluten free one for a coworker and asked if I wanted one. Absolutely terrible experience. I asked for a single tier gold cake (photo was provided) with a black ribbon. The flavor requested was red velvet with cream cheese filling. She said $80 for a single tier 6 layered cake. When I looked up the address to pick up the cake I was surprised to find that it was an apartment complex. When I saw the cake I was so disappointed the black ribbon was actually made out of fondant and the black was bleeding on the "gold" which was actually yellow. There were nail marks all over the black fondant, so gross! I informed Patricia I was unhappy with the cake and it needed to be fixed. She added a second layer of fondant (making it difficult and messy to cut the cake) and added a black ribbon as I had initially asked. I had to wait 15-20 minutes in my car outside her apartment complex for the cake to be fixed. Oh and the cake was only 3 layers not 6, I don't understand why she still charged me the same if the cake was not what she quoted me. She then tells me that if we taste lemon it's because she used lemon to get the gold, what? Why wasn't I told this when I ordered a gold cake. Then she tells me she flavored the buttercream cookies and cream bc she thought it would go with red velvet. So yes, the cake had lemon flavor, with cookies and cream and red velvet. The cake was still warm so it crumbled apart when served. I do not recommend this place at all, I was trying to support a small business but it back fired! read more

While celebrating the MLK holiday at a community event, I saw the Suga's Cakery cupcake stand. My sons and I stopped by the stand and bought 2 strawberry cupcakes and 1 lemon cupcake. The cupcakes were large and reasonably priced and soooooooo tasty! They were moist with just the right amount of sweetness. I am not the kind of person to write reviews, but I am doing this because I do not want another person to have the kind of horrible experience that I had with this woman. First, she is a dishonest person. She sent me an inflated quote for payment. I had already paid before it occurred to me that what we agreed on was a different amount. When I checked the messages we exchanged, I saw that she indeed inflated the amount. I pointed it out to her and she claimed it was a mistake. I just let it go. I did not ask her for a refund because I thought she truly made a mistake. Second, she made the WORST possible cake I ever saw in my life for me. I sent her an image of the cake I wanted and she billed me for custom artwork involved. When I showed up to pick the cake, she handed me a cake so atrocious that looked nothing like our agreement. There was no fondant design, she just printed pieces of paper from the internet and slapped it on a roughly creamed cake!!!! I do not understand how a supposed professional could have given that to a customer. You have to lack any kind of integrity to present a cake like that to a client. Even though I told her that she bungled everything, she neither apologized nor asked how she could make it right. I chose her because I wanted to support small businesses but this experience has taught me a bad lesson. read more

Such incredible cupcakes! And, oh, so worth it. Three generations of our family have devoured these and everyone gives them a huge thumbs-up. That alone is amazing, as we all have very different tastes. But we've tried six of the flavors offered and now cannot wait to try the rest! They are perfectly moist, with each cupcake having just the right amount of sweetness and frosting. Every variety is so well thought out and really delivers, especially the seasonal flavors. There is no doubt when you bite into each cupcake that you will get exactly what was promised. Now, let's talk about those wonderful, rich flavors. The Southern Red Velvet and Vanilla were both melt-in-your-mouth delicious, while the Spiced Carrot had layers of flavor that really hit the spot. The Peaches & Cream was bursting with flavor. How could you go wrong when they're made with Fredericksburg peaches?! But the very best we've tasted: Island Dream and Zesty Citron. The Island Dream is just that -- a dream. Crushed pineapple and coconut, topped with coconut rum cream cheese. Oh, my! My personal favorite, though, is the Zesty Citron. Such strong lemon flavor, it is absolutely incredible and without a doubt, the very best cupcake I've ever eaten. Tart. Sweet. Perfect. I could live on these. Seriously. If you love lemon, GET THIS. Heading out of the parks mall I saw this cupcake stand and even though I'm on a pretty strict diet at the moment, I love to support local bakers so I had to but at least ONE. Cream cheese frosting is my favorite so I opted for her seasonal tropical and let me tell you that I was NOT READY FOR IT! My favorite cupcake store no longer has a store front and they set the bar HIGH. Patricia is right up there with the best of them ! The cream cheese frosting still had that tartness that sometimes gets lost when too much sugar gets added; the cake had pieces of pineapple that were just lovely to bite into. The rum flavor was not overwhelming but just perfect! The cupcake had that made at home feel that you just cannot get at commercial bakeries regardless of how reputable the name is! I am not sure how often Patricia has her little set up at the mall but she is worth following on social media to keep up with and treat yourself to when you need a GOOD CUPCAKE!
