Finally visited a pop-up after seeing posts for a while. I tried the salted caramel crunch- initial reaction is that this is VERY sweet. I lightly tapped the dough to get a little taste and it was overwhelmingly just sugar. Even though it's really sweet, it honestly grows on you a little. BUT, I think the overall sweetness is enough to make me not return, unless someone reaaaally wanted it haha. If you asked me if it tastes like cookie dough, then yes, it does. It tastes pretty much the same, but definitely on the sweeter side. As for the salted caramel crunch specifically, it honestly didn't really taste like salted caramel (now that I think about it, the caramel could've added the extra sweetness that I don't think was really needed). That specific dough includes pretzel pieces, which I expected the consistency to be similar to that of the compost cookie from Milk Bar, but it was a little disappointing. The texture of the pretzel pieces were more on the soggy side, probably would've been better off sprinkled on the top or replaced by something else. Edible cookie dough has gotten popular in the last 4 years or so, so I suppose it's a cool and new-ish concept. But unless you like your desserts on the sweet sweet side and want to try something new, I'd recommend this place at least once. Otherwise, I'd try some place else. read more

I found out about this place recently and thought I check it out when in the area. Their main location is at Westlake close to Zara. They had 4 flavors available and we were able to sample all of them which was nice. I ended up getting the dough-reo which is just regular cookie dough with Oreo in it. My friend got the peppermint bark one. With a Yelp check in, I also got a free shot of cereal milk which was very nice. For me, it was ok, it was different, but very deceiving. They presented the dough as it was like ice cream (see pictures) so when you look at it, you're thinking you're eating ice cream, but when you bite into it...you're like 'where is the creaminess, where is the cold feeling, where is the ice cream?????? I'm pretty sure if this was during the hot summer, I would be fairly disappointed. I think if they presented differently, I would have like it a lot more. Also, one scoop of cookie dough does not equal to one scoop of ice cream, it's a lot heavier and more filling. Good thing I got the milk shot because that helped a lot to lighten things up. I couldn't decide whether to write my review based on the product itself or the service issues, so I'm separating it into two parts. Part One - The Cookie Dough I got the Party Animal cookie dough in a cone with a scoop of ice cream. After the first few bites, I was amazed at how the dough tasted and was regretting only getting one scoop. A couple bites later, however, I realized that it was super filling. I couldn't eat all of it in one sitting and had to save some for later. The reason it's so filling is because the cookie dough is super dense and sweet, almost too sweet. Normally, I love sweet and sugar-filled foods, which is why I was so excited to finally try Sugar + Spoon. But this was just too much, and I couldn't possibly imagine anyone getting more than one scoop. Based on taste, I would come here again, but probably with another person to share. Part Two - Service I understand why this is a popular business. It's safe-to-eat cookie dough. But when you really think about it, does it need to be this expensive? For what I got (dough, cone, and ice cream), the total was almost $10. I was surprised at the cost when the cashier said it but when I looked down at the price board I figured out what the designers did. You wouldn't notice the prices next to the items unless you really focused, because the font was super small. And at this point I couldn't say no because they were already handing me my cone. The ice cream wasn't even that good, and yet they charge $3 extra for a tiny scoop. For this price, I would have just found an edible cookie dough recipe to make at home. Be prepared of the cost, it definitely shocked me. But overall, I really liked this place. read more

Alto disproves but I had to get the new flavors! For science! Sugar + Spoon ships nationwide via USPS Priority Mail in an insulated-lined box/bag with an ice pack. They're a brand started by UW alumni here in Seattle. Their cookie dough can be a bit pricy, but it's honestly some of the best-tasting that I've had. It lasts for 2 weeks in the fridge and 2 months in the freezer. I like to sloooowly eat just one scoop of it on nights when I want a sweet treat. I ordered the birthday cake waffle cone with ice cream topping, which was a sugar load... but I enjoyed eating the ice cream component first before nursing the cookie dough to its second day. It came out to be almost $10, with tip included. However, when you come here, it is for the escape to a sense of normalcy. I wasn't even going to write a review until reaching the bottom of the cone and suddenly felt appreciative --they packed dough to the very tippy tip. Even the last bite of my cone was enjoyable. I kept seeing their truck pop up on my FB o when they were close to our neighborhood recently we decided to give them a try. A little different than what I was expecting, it's a scoop of cookie dough, $3, with vanilla ice cream, $2. We ordered 3, Cookie Monster which my daughter said was too sweet, brownie was meh, Oreo which was the best of the 3. Cookie dough was nice and soft but when mixed with the vanilla ice cream became hard and the basic vanilla took away from the cookie dough. Since the flavors are pretty basic and the prices are a bit high for what you get I think this is a try once for us. Also the customer service seemed to be lacking, not too friendly very rushed and the touchscreen pay pad is not being wiped down at all, gross to touch. If they slowed down to give some friendlier customer service and incorporated some expanded flavors, ie lavender, mint, chamomile, something besides the basics, we would give that a try but as is we would not try again. read more

I have been tracking this company for almost a year now on IG and finally tried it for the first time tonight. BOMB!!!! I went with the original chocolate chip cookie dough in a cup and my friend got the blue Oreo cookie one with ice cream. Honestly I got one scoop and barely made it 25% of the cup because it's sweet and heavy... which is exactly what it's meant to be. Had this treat for the first time when they were hosted by our apartment building. My wife and I each got a single scoop (dough-reo and chocolate chip) and were super happy with the product. The ordering/serving is a little chaotic and our order seemed to have been lost for a bit but the wait time only increased by a couple minutes so no real harm. I was really looking forward to trying Sugar + Spoon during my trip to Seattle. Unfortunately I was not able to because they no longer have gluten free cookie dough. TLDR: I'm very skeptical about this business after 3 no-shows and would be extremely hesitant to hire for a private event considering they are unreliable and give no or minuscule notice. Expanded version: Went to the Kirkland market 2 weeks in a row this summer looking for this truck as we wanted to check them out for a potential private event, they had advertisements on social media saying they would be there without any other information indicating otherwise. They were not there both times. The market info booth said the reason was they had a broken truck, I wish that would've been communicated online so my family didn't waste our time and end up with disappointed children two weeks in a row. Also, their site states they have 4 trucks, ok fine, so maybe they were all broken 2 weeks in a row? We gave them yet another try last Tuesday at the alleged Edmonds Marina Beach pop up, again they were no where to be found despite same-day posts on instagram and Facebook stating they would be present. While we waited around for nothing, my friend who also wasted his time coming with us saw they posted a story with Edmonds crossed out just ~ 5 minutes before the pop up was going to start without any reasoning as to why. Guess we should've learned our lesson the first or second time! read more
