This was my first time coming to Sugar Shack as I was craving sometime sweet. There are so many dessert options and the cupcakes are huge! Everything has amazing flavor and every bite is delicious. My husband said that the cookies are cooked perfectly and every bite is crunchy on the outside and warm and gooey on the inside. We are definitely coming back again! read more

Guy running it is a douche and the cupcakes are mid. Go to Bake N Cakes for better food and service.

This little shop has the best cupcakes and cookies. I will say that I've never tried their pies, but I will sometime soon. The owner is super nice and friendly. The shop was busy when I was there, but the customer service was quick. I got cupcakes and they were delicious read more

Brownies are one of my favorite foods, so I knew I had to try the build-your-own brownies at Sugar Shack. The only "negative" thing I could say is that the brownies are so good, it's almost a shame I was encouraged to put any toppings on them. The toppings choices were great, but next time I go, I'll be getting a plain brownie because they were that good! read more

Stopped in for some emergency cupcakes. Our office forgot it was someone's birthday and we needed cupcakes quick. The baker pulled a dozen out of the oven and frosted them on the spot. They were fresh and delicious. Thanks Sugar Shack! read more

NOT A SERVICE DOG FRIENDLY ESTABLISHMENT My service dog and I were verbally accosted by the owner, who was not wearing a mask during the covid-19 pandemic. He demanded to see legal paperwork for my service animal, despite that specifically not being required by the Americans with Disabilities Act. When I showed him a card (pictured here) which explicitly outlines the laws regarding services he continued to be aggressive, shouting at me. I would not recommend this establishment to anyone. read more

Sugar Shack - a hand holding a ticket for someone to accept - Desserts Near Me - Lansing, Michigan

1st time visiting. I was most impressed with the cleanliness. Freindly and effecient service. Quality baked goods.

Super fresh, I could eat one every day. Fell in love with the engagement cup cake but, how could you go wrong with chocolate/vanilla... but oh the lemon... read more

I paid $1.90 for a chocolate chip cookie that's half the size of my phone. I understand inflation has gone up but for the cookie to be so small for almost $2 is ridiculous to me. My son finished it in two bites. The taste of the cookie isn't bad, I've had better. For $2 I expect it to be bigger in size and better in flavor. I will not be returning. read more

Sugar Shack - a chocolate chip cookie on a piece of paper - Desserts Near Me - Lansing, Michigan

The cookies are awesome, warm and flavorful. They are made with real butter, and melt in your mouth. My only complaint is the cost, but they are really worth it. Every time I have gone in the store, they have been pleasant and helpful. They answered my questions about allergens completely! No soy in the cookies I love! read more

Drove here from the other side of town for some cupcakes. I told the lady working what I wanted, and she proceeded to take her hands out of her pockets and choose the things I asked for WITH NO GLOVES. She didn't wash her hands or anything; just grabbed the desserts I asked for with bare hands. We did not take these items, we left. read more

Just ordered six cupcakes for a friend who had gone through a bad breakup. They came to my door half an hour late, smashed all together. I called to complain and the person on the phone was very apologetic and offered to send more out by her personal driver rather than the delivery company they use. I told her I would call her back after talking to my friends. She called me half an hour later and was even more apologetic. She said she had been on the phone with the owner and was worried that we had tried to call back and she had missed us. We decided to come in rather than wait for another delivery. She not only gave us six more cupcakes but threw in two for free and a kiddy cupcake with a "Thomas the Tank Engine" ring for my daughter - she was thrilled! The customer service at this bakery is unparalleled and they have certainly not lost me as a customer. I may not be back soon because my waistline wouldn't be able to handle it, but I will tell everyone I know about this place! read more

Sugar Shack - Desserts Near Me - Lansing, Michigan

I finally had a chance to swing by on a Thursday to try the long desired Elvis and Tiramisu cupcakes. The Elvis was mindblowing... it was like a fresh, flavorful banana had relations with some sugary peanut butter and made a fat baby. Best dessert choice at SS thus far. Worth the trip. I was a bit let down by the Tiramisu cupcake. It was "just good", but was my least favorite of the five types I've had. It lacks some flavor... I think more coffee or mocha would help. On that down note, I do want to add that although others seems to be experiencing kind and delightful service, I received rather poor service on both visits. I believe this is where SS needs to focus their attention, because their treats are already wonderful. They never thank me or tell me to have a nice day, and no one smiles. They tried to hurry me out on both occassions, but they didn't appear to be busy. Perhaps the staff realizes that their desserts are so scrumptious that Lansingers will keep pouring in regardless of how their service is. I know I'll return when I'm hankering some frosting. read more

Person who took my order did very bad job. I kept having to repeat multiple times before she got ( at least I hope) my order and delivery info correct. ADDENDUM I sent cookies to my Co workers . I was in another area of the hospital with my husband and instead of the cookies going to my hospital floor as requested they were dropped off at the hospital entry with NO NOTATION about where they should go. The hospital people tracked me down with my husband to ask if the cookies were suppose to come to me. They very kindly delivered them to the appropriate floor after I told them where they should go. The person who took my order should not be doing that job! read more

Sugar Shack's cookies gives insomnia a run for its money. Specifically, their peanut butter and maple pecan cookies are amazing in my opinion. They were warm, soft, moist, and contained the right texture. Today was my first visit, and I see myself visiting this place at least once a month. The reason Sugar Shack receives 4 stars and not 5 is because their prices are a little high for what I'm willing to spend for a cookie and/or a cupcake. read more

terrible place. terrible people. have known the owner a long time and he has always been rude, but he crossed the line when he towed the car of a girl who parked there. he has no signs saying anything about not being able to park there. when confronted he had awful behavior and was overly rude, cussing at the girl and the neighbors next to their business. worst part is that their cupcakes taste like shit. -1000/10 read more

Oh yum. I wish I'd never stopped into this place! (It's dangerously close to my office.) I tried the Irish mint cupcake, complete with a peppermint patty baked into the center... And I'm already planning my next trip. I hear the warm margarita cookie is pretty fantastic. That's on my list too. They have a rotating menu of cupcake flavors, as well as cookies, pies, brownies... and who knows what else? I find myself wanting to go back over and over again so I can try everything. read more

I been here and I felt like I was really eating a bag of sugar. I didn't really taste the flavor of the cupcake. Was disappointed

Sugarshack has been open since August 2009. I finally strolled into this delightfully small place tonight on my way home. There are cookies, brownies and some frozen treats for sale. But the main event is the extra large gourmet cupcake. There is even a baking rotation for the extra large gourmet cupcakes. I went in on a Monday and the designated specials included: carrot cake, Hostess, Mocha and there was even a special St. Patrick's Day themed cupcake. (Flavors available by day are posted on their website.) I ended up with taking home a sampler of three cupcakes: Mocha, Strawberry and the Sugarshack's take on the classic Hostess. All of them were amazing. The cupcakes were so moist and to top it all off was their perfect icing. The Mocha and Hostess cupcakes were both chocolate cake and both exceptional. But my favorite of the three had to be the Strawberry with angel food cake and the pink icing. Sugarshack also offers delivery within a 5 mile radius from the bakery's location for a $2.00 fee (Google maps tells me that I am 4.4 miles away from Sugarshack - so I'm good there!). It's worth a drive to check out this bakery next to the Marathon gas station serving up some amazing gourmet cupcakes. read more

Not as good as my homemade cupcakes, and by homemade I mean from scratch, like sifting the flour, baking soda, and salt, and whipping the butter and confectioner's sugar for real buttercream frosting. Forget the pre-made cake mixes and canned frosting from the grocery store! So, back to these cupcakes... my brother, who lives on the west coast, sent us a box of six regular cupcakes for my son's birthday. The bakery called ahead of time to ask when we would be home, and they delivered when they said they would. We got three kinds: --yellow cake with chocolate frosting --chocolate cake with chocolate frosting --chocolate cake with white frosting The cupcakes themselves were fairly good. The cake part wasn't overly sweet, and the yellow cake was moist. The chocolate frosting was very good, but he didn't like the white frosting--they may have added some sort of flavoring that he didn't like. I couldn't tell--it tasted fine to me. Overall, a definite win if you're looking for a place that delivers cupcakes! read more

Check out the website for the flavor schedule. Go when they have the Elvis--its cake is more moist and flavorful than the other flavors. Delivers til 2 am or something. Just relocated to be closer to MSU dorms and stuff. Ha! An extra-large cupcake is about 3-5 bucks. read more

Owner is rude, I will absolutely take my business somewhere that isn't rude when you ask a question about a cupcake.

$3.50 for a cupcake. I can only guess the price was based on size and not flavor. The cake had a muted flavor and could have been anything. The red-hot flavored frosting was decent but out of proportion to the cake. They also have pies on display with slices removed. This led me to believe I could order a slice. Boy, was I wrong! Don't ask for a slice of pie--you won't get one. read more

They live up to their name. Literally. I like their sweet treats. They are well decorated and tasty but they verge on the border of too sweet. Teeth cringing sweet. The texture of the cup cake on my most recent visit was very dense and it seems the frosting was more flavorful than the cupcake. Not to my liking for cup cakes. I prefer a lighter texture and fluffy cupcake with reasonably sweet frosting that has just as much flavor as the cupcake. They are good but a little too much for my teeth and tastebuds. I'd tone the sugar down and the lemon, mango, lime and or almond flavor up. read more

Worst customer service ever, but of course the attitude didn't start until after I paid. I went in to purchase some congratulatory cupcakes and asked if they had any others then on the display, because a coworker of mine had gone before and came back with some very cool looking ones. The man then started screaming at me that he didn't know what I was talking about. After a few minutes of that, I finally was told that they rotate the cupcakes so there are different ones at different times, by then I was already upset because I drove out of the way to come here because I had heard good things, wrong. Customer service is everything and I never expected to be screamed at for a simple question, sorry I went and I won't return. read more

The Sugar Shack is my new favorite place! Their specialty cupcakes are awesome (try the salted caramel and chocolate covered cherry flavors on Sunday)! The cookies are great, the cookie dough is delish and they even serve coffee & milk! The best part? They are open til three am and even deliver! Our office has a new Friday treat. Love this place! As others have mentioned, ignore the gas station exterior (the goodness is on the inside!) read more

Please help me. There's this sweet old lady who runs this little cupcake shop. They also have homemade cookies and ice cream and rotating flavors of cupcakes and edible cookie dough- and they deliver! It's just too good to be true. I think she's trying to destroy me with her sugary treats. And every time I go in, the staff are so cheerful. It's like they love their job, and they're happy to see me. I can only conclude that all these tremendous piles of icing are somehow poisoning me- and why do they put so much icing on the cupcakes anyway? Sometimes I have to save the icing and eat it as a second dessert the next day. It's too much, and they ask you to pay way too little for the quality you get. Clearly, these people are evil. So please, don't go to the Sugar Shack. The infectious cheer of the place will keep you coming back. And every time you go in, there's a dozen treats you've never seen before. This confusion gives way to the sleepiness you feel as you try to cram one last bite into your face, and somewhere deep down, you'll know that's when they have you. Oh, I just remembered they deliver. I should get a colossal cookie sandwich, and a... wait... no... it's happening again! read more

Disappointing. Do they put sand in the frosting? I've never had such grainy frosting. Way, way too sweet and lacking in flavor. The peanut butter frosting had peanut butter in it? Really? I couldn't tell. The strawberry cupcake tasted very artificial. As for the service, I have even less good to say about it. The employee was clearly annoyed that I was there interupting his personal phone call. Once he finished the call, it seemed like he couldn't wait for me to complete my order and get out of the place. There are much better places for cupcakes in the Lansing area and I will not stray from them again. read more

Prepare to be unimpressed as you pull up to the Sugar Shack. Its located in a gas station and is rather small. However, you will love their desserts. They have a variety of cupcakes which push the boundaries of what you thought a cupcake could taste like. I really like all their desserts and I am not a big sweets kinda guy. read more

This place was really a disappointment for me. I've been hearing all the people in Lansing rave about it, so I was expecting something that just couldn't be beat. Maybe I went in with too high of expectations. I first tried the cookie pizza, which didn't really taste that great. The texture of the dough was weird, and the icing was over the top. The next time, I tried the cupcakes. For one, they are huge...which I guess is part of the appeal for the place. I took a couple of bites out of mine and wanted to be done with it. It was supposed to be peppermint, but it didn't taste like anything but straight sugar. I swear I was jittery after just a quarter of the cupcake. I haven't bought anything since those two attempts. Major, major over priced ($3-$4 for treat) disappointment. I can make gross over sugary treats at home. Staff though, was great and friendly. The product just wasn't good. read more

-1 for such expensive cupcakes, but that's the fat kid in me pouting. Amazing though. Huge cupcakes. I thought I could kill one after dinner, but failed. So I gently held it the whole way home (1.5 hours) and lovingly put it in my fridge for the next day (said I didn't need a box when I was there). Delicious cookies...Which I bought to share and did not share. Friendly girl working too! And they're open late?? Um, yes please. read more

HUGE fan of this place!!! Pros: -suuuch friendly service!!! -they have strawberry pie!!!! I've looked everywhere for this and can't seem to find it - will be back to try it -they have delivery -they have this awesome sign that says they'll help you when you finish your cell phone calls (I HATE people who are on their cells when I talk, haha) -really good cookies!! Crispy on the outside, melts in your mouth on the inside.. in fact, SO good that a week later, when I gave my cookie to a friend, he immediately said, "whoa....that is goooooood..." -good cupcakes!! A lot of frosting that made it too sweet, but I just didn't eat it all. My apple crisp cupcake was also kinda grainy inside, which I liked! Cons: -small parking lot, and I see it getting crowded easily FYI, the flavors we tried: Cookies - - White chocolate chip macadamia nut: my absolute FAVE ever.. order 100 of them! Haha. - Maple pecan - Snicker doodle - Fudge nut brownie - Forgot the last.. I think it was sugar? Cupcakes - -Apple crisp -Chocolate w/peanut butter read more

Sugar indeed. The cupcakes by themselves are quite good, and they put a ton of frosting on them to boot! And I mean a lot of frosting (I always have to remove some, lest I die of a sugar high). They have several standard flavors, several daily specials. I have been impressed by several of their cupcakes, in particular, the red velvet. Most red velvet is dry, but Sugar Shack does an awesome job with all of their cupcakes. So what's better than a cupcake that is moist, delicious, and covered in way too much frosting? Getting one whenever you want it! Sugar Shack has late night hours most of the week, and what's even more ridiculously awesome is that they deliver for a nominal fee! (And their quick too!). Give them a try! You won't be disappointed. read more

*****OWNER VERY RUDE AND UNPROFESSIONAL****** I only been in this bakery 3 times, the first time my daughter and I went in on a Saturday, and there was a very nice young girl, and the next time I went in there was a guy working there, upon entering in this bakery he didn't greet me, he snapped very rudely, so being professional I assumed he wasn't having a good morning, because the bakery just had opened, so I looked passed his behavior, and left on my way, the next time i called in to place a order, and there was this guy again being rude and unprofessional over the phone once again, so I drove in to pick it up my order, and there was a nice elderly lady in the front, and I began to address some things with her, and she said wait let me get the owner, and I looked up and there was the guy that have been so very rude to me, frowning and being very ugly, but it bothers me not, because I have never did anything to this guy, so i can be at peace, it really made me sad to know there are horrible people who can just judge a person, before getting to know them, but after reading the reviews out here, I see that I am not the only one that have suffer at the behavior of this egotistical rude guy, go visit there, but don't allow him to mess up your day, here's a message to the owner if you can't stand the heat, get out of the kitchen, and please fix your cup cake recipes, very, very, dry, and I think it's a darn shame when your employees can be more professional and nice than you, will never go in there to buy anything again. read more

Delicious cupcakes and fair prices. Their regular cupcakes are good, though not super amazing. They definitely hit the spot; and if you're buying cupcakes to share, their cost for a dozen is great. I got a Strawberry cupcake and was disappointed for the quality of product at the price point I paid. The "buttercream" frosting that was on top was grainy and left a slight waxy feeling in my mouth. This, to me, means there's a lack of technique when cooking the sugar for the buttercream and that shorting was used instead of butter. Everyone is entitled to use ingredients they feel is best for the type of products they want to serve but I won't be going back for a $3.50 "gourmet" cupcake. read more
