Finally! A bakery which has excellent customer service AND excellent baked goods! Other bakeries boast "old world recipes", too, but too much butter doesn't make it better. I ordered a German Chocolate signature cake and it was beyond delicious! The cake itself was moist and flavorful and the icing was perfect. It wasn't too sweet and was noticeably made from fresh ingredients. I never refuse a piece of cake, so from experience I can say that this German Chocolate cake was the most authentic you'll find in the greater Lansing area. The staff is very professional, helpful, and pleasant. They delivered the cake to my front door at no extra charge and took precautions such as a "no contact delivery." This company doesnt have a BBB site so i have requested to make one via bbb.org to add an additional source so people dont get duped by Whipped Bakery's practice of deleting complaints. This company has tried to smear customers on their facebook page, deletes all reviews that are negative and even blocks accounts on facebook to prevent any kindve negative review. They have crossed a line with the community and are getting farther from getting any sort of respect back. This company in my opinion doesnt deserve business of hard working citizens, not after how i have seen how they conduct said business. ***End of updated section*** Avoid this place in regards to events and poor customer service. Between the staff being extremely unhelpful to an owner that is brazen and rude enough to try and over charge on a kids 5th birthday this isnt a place to do any event with kids of any age. This was booked 30+ days in advance. We didnt complain about this when we arrived or left, its something i thought i would add just in case someone likes to deal with these kindve situations even after reading a detailed review. Lets move onto desert. Taste wise, ill give credit where credit is due - not bad, TBH had better for the price but thats not the point. The main point is that when making a unicorn cake whipped bakery missed the mark, even having a very well inspiration photo that isnt over the top. Well, I cant tell if they were purposely slapping us in the face or if it was i giant artistic mistake. After speaking to the manager/owner - im feeling it was both. To explain the major issue - they cant do a unicorn's horn at all... or ears... If you cant do it - please state that before hand instead of trying and making it look like something you would buy from an 'adult super market', if ya know what i mean. Moving onto price. The business was paid a $75 deposit, then prior to the event paid $187 for a cake and cupcakes ($135 for the cake, $42 for 24 cupcakes) after the event we paid the remaining balance for time/space of their floor ($75) and shakes made for everyone ($31 total, $10 for the b-day kid and $3 for the remaining 7 kids) bringing our end checkout $108 and change after taxes - where the issue comes in with price is the owner tried to have her lovely staff charge us ~$170 instead of $108. We had all the receipts to show what was needed to be paid/been paid and was explained to them what was going on but that is when things went real south. After having to listen to the owner huff and puff their stuff on the phone we thought that was the end of it. Unfortunately the owner then took it upon themselves to smear us on facebook. Saying we left things a mess and didn't pay our bill. When rebutted on their comments with class (no yelling, no name calling or being spiteful) comments would be deleted and accounts banned from their page only leaving the handful of praise comments that have no clue of the situation - and now cant be educated on the situation. When someone treats customers of their own community like this it screams volumes at the horrible person they have, and are, continuing to become. To go into detail about the mess - we had 2 out of 50 balloons pop, 1 was a small filled confetti balloon and the other wasn't filled. We picked up what we could and a small amount of confetti was left (all on the floor, none on products/counter tops) . Not done though, again credit where credit is due - we left a balloon group (about, 10 balloons). Now, this was an accident because we were so taken aback on how the staff treated us it was just forgotten - i guess you can say we wanted to get out of that horrible experience and never go back but in our haste forgot a handful of blown up balloons. Ordered a cake from the shop with a delivery address specified(I paid extra for delivery already). They sent me an email advising me to pick up my cake instead. I asked if I could pay extra to have it delivered, thinking it would be an easy fix (10min drive). They sent me to a page charging me a further $1818.00 dollars. I was half done with putting in my billing information when i noticed this. When i responded to them, they cancelled my order and said they were uncomfortable with doing business with me for being upset that they charged me $1818.00 for delivering the cake which I had already paid a delivery fee for. read more

I booked a party here after seeing a facebook post that advertised kids birthday parties. I paid a 50% deposit for the space, pre-ordered and pre-paid for the unicorn cake and for the cupcakes that were to be decorated at the party. I arrived on party day to two very unenthusiastic employees working who never introduced themselves. They did not offer to help with anything having to do with the party and hid in the back most of the time. The space that was provided was small, there was one table and 6 chairs. That was all. Nothing else. When I asked if there were anymore chairs I was told no and that kids could stand to decorate and eat. The cupcakes we decorated were yummy tasting, they were, however, still cold from being stored in the refrigerator. The cake we ordered which I spent $135 on was such a sad interpretation of what I showed them and what we talked about. I was charged $35 for the horn and ears and they are so awful and not at all professionally done. I would have preferred plastic over this misshapen, discolored mess of a horn. The staff was not clear how or what to charge me leaving me feeling uneasy like I was being over charged which I was until I broke down the math for them. The owner had to be called over the phone to figure everything out. Heather the owner was extremely unkind and rude over the phone, complete lack of customer service or understanding. Her staff refused to take responsibility for the cake or own up to the fact that they have zero clue how to host a party. The other parents in attendance were aware at how awful the bakery was at hosting. So embarrassing. Don't book a birthday party here it's not worth the money or headache. I won't be spending anymore of my family's hard earned money here ever again. Really sad to feel this taken advantage after a special day for our family. Last night I tried the German chocolate and it was very, very dry. It isn't a traditional German chocolate because the frosting is plain chocolate with a dollop of filling inside. Today I tried the Elvis cupcake. This was moister, but the thick glob on top didn't taste like anything at all. Probably won't go back. I was very excited to get our wedding cake from Whipped bakery. Last November we went in to do a cake tasting and decided on the flavors, and told them we wanted the birch tree cake in the window exactly as it was. They said they even had one more of the heart cake toppers that they would save for ours. We made a down payment and the week of made our final payment. I told the person on the phone that a friend would be picking up the cake on Friday, and we decided on 10am. He would need to drive it up north where our wedding was on Saturday. Our friend got to Whipped at 10am on Friday, and they said the decorator had not started it yet and to come back in two hours. This was unfortunate because the person picking up the cake was one of the groomsman who had a 3.5 hour drive and needed to be at our rehearsal that night up north. He came back two hours later and they said it would be another 25 minutes. Our groomsman missed our rehearsal due to this. Also, when I looked at the cake later that night I noticed there was no cake topper. Our friends scavenged through the woods the day of the wedding and made a cake topper for us out of birch bark, which I think ended up looking better than what they were supposed to put on it. The cake tasted great, but very disappointed in how everything was handled. I would not recommend them for your wedding cake, because you cannot guarantee it will be ready on time or be what you paid for. We were not offered a discount or an apology. They are always crafted to 100% perfection. I've never opened the box and been anything less than happy. Oh, by the way, they are DELICIOUS. Whipped offers a great variety of flavors, both traditional and out-of-the-box. You have your standards like Chocolate, Vanilla...but they also have more unique options like Orange-Pineapple, Mocha, Chocolate Peanut Butter, Cinnamon Swirl, so on and so forth. On top of all that, the staff is very accommodating and professional. I can usually order 3 or 4 dozen cupcakes with 24hr notice, no problem. The cake is so moist, has great flavor and had golden raisins inside which I absolutely love in a carrot cake. My partner had key lime pie, a seasonal flavor, which was also very good. We we had this amazing wedding planned for 10-8-17, in the Virgin Islands when Hurricane Maria came along and blew a years worth of planning and half the island, out to sea. I recently purchased a birthday cake here for my one year old. It seemed like such a nice, beautiful place. I had purchased a Elmo cake for my kid one year old birthday party. This is something I will always remember because it's his first birthday. Well when I went to order my cake I wasn't given any free samples of the chocolate. I had to purchase them myself. I thought that was odd but I like to put my trust in others and I moved forward with the purchase. When it came time to pickup the cake. I was given a small box that did not hold my cake. When I got home long story short the Elmo face bent over due to box pressing on it and the two toothpicks that was holding up the Elmo were now sticking out. I went in on a Monday to order a red velvet sheet cake for Thursday the same week. I got a call on Tuesday asking if I was coming to pick up my cake before the shop closed for the day. I thought they might have confused me with someone else. I told them that my order was for Thursday. There was a long pause and then confirmation that the order slip did say Thursday. When I arrived on Thursday, they couldn't find the cake at first. After 10 minutes, the cake emerged in a battered box. "Sorry! I had trouble finding it. It was all the way in the back of the refrigerator." Surely they weren't giving me a three day old cake for $50, I thought. The decoration was not what I had hoped for, but I had a party to get to. I called again a few days ahead of time to confirm the time of pick up and to make sure I had given them all of the information regarding what I wanted written on the cake. On the day of pickup, I called an hour before scheduled pick up time and was told the writing wasn't on the cake yet and they asked if I could come an hour later instead so I agreed. They then called me back a short time later and said the decorating was not complete either and asked if I could come in the afternoon instead. Recently started working downtown Lansing and I'm always craving something sweet in the afternoon. I'm not always in the mood for the gigantic desserts at grand traverse pie company and the other donut shop glazed closes at 3pm. So I checked this place out based on the yelp reviews. I've only had their cookies. My fav so far is the lemon cookie. The others (peanut butter, chocolate chip, Michigan cherry) were decent. It's a nice little shop. When I walked into this place, I was in love. The interior is both modern and cute, and the folks working there were very nice and accommodating. I ordered 2 cookies (1 chocolate chip, 1 snickerdoodle), and 1 cupcake. The cupcake was fine, but the cookies were off. Please be aware! I ordered a baby shower cake from this bakery for a cost of 167.00 I ordered it about 1 month in advance. The day before the shower they called to ask what color I exactly wanted as they couldn't find a picture. I spent the rest of the afternoon and early morning trying to reach them. Finally reached them after 10 am on Sunday..the day of the shower. Shower started at 1pm..I had requested the cake be ready by 1130 am. Upon speaking to me, they asked me what color for the frosting....WHAT...I ordered this cake and paid a month ago, and your lady didn't write down that it was for a boy. Than when my girlfriend went to get the cake it was not ready. She had to wait! Than when they went to put the half moon on the cake, my friend commented it was broke(her husband was with her) they said no, quickly put the moon up, snapped a picture as the moon was starting to fall, took it off, told my girlfriend to put it in the freezer for a while. excuse me...its 1145..shower starts at 1pm...and are we even going to a location that has a freezer? Cake was supposed to be ready. I took a picture of that back of the moon where it was broken. It would have been a disaster except my caterer went the extra mile and used barbecue skewers, and took pics to get the moon to stand! Than there was the taste of the cake...not good. The butter cream frosting was way to sweet. It just was the worst experience and the worst cake I have ever received from a bakery. We have purchased cupcakes from this bakery in the past and we enjoyed them, however this was before they moved to Old Town and increased prices. We ordered a snowball (white cake with raspberry filling covered with frosting and coconut) which we loved! My least favorite of the cupcakes was lemon, which is usually a favorite. The tiramisu lacked the coffee element but was still really good. The brownie I tried was tasty. I has the same buttercream frosting as the cupcakes. Some people are purists when it comes to brownies; I am not one of them. It was fantastic. We have not tried the cookies yet. Please go and enjoy this gem in Old Town! read more

So adorable and modern with an equally adorable and modern (but busy) staff. I'm so thankful to have a treat shop closer to the West side and Whipped is one of the better dessert shops in the area. Whipped offers a lot of variety in the cupcake department and the prices are sweet (see what I did there?) and way more affordable than their competitors. The only downside for me is really a matter of personal taste - I find their batter to be very dense and not at all fluffy/light. Whipped did our wedding cake and some specialty cookies for our wedding this past weekend - I have never had better wedding cake! Our cake was gorgeous, our cookies were perfectly decorated and we got dozens and dozens of compliments on both. Randy was the best baker we could have asked for - professional to a T, incredibly nice, and boy can the man do frosting!
