I stopped in to get some treats before heading home. This place smells amazing when you walk in. They have a great assortment of cupcakes and they are all beautiful. After talking to the woman behind the counter, I got a lemon, orange cream, red velvet with cream cheese, raspberry with cream cheese, death by chocolate and pumpkin spice. My husband and I ate the lemon and orange cream right away. They were great. Both had a nice texture and the frosting was nice and light. The rest, well they were devoured by children so I have to assume they were good. But I will probably go back so I can try more when I'm in town.

Another fabulous trip to Cakes A Bloomin! They do such a fabulous job and the store is adorable.

So impressed with the teams quick response and going above and beyond for us. In fact, they stayed open after hours for us to grab our order during a snow storm! The cake was delicious and something our guests raved about quite a few times. Cookies turned out perfect for our automobile themed birthday. Thank you for making this a stress free step in planning my sons birthday!

I recently purchased a birthday cake for my son's 13th birthday. What an excellent experience. I congratulate business owners and the pastry chef. Not only the design was perfectly executed but the chocolate cake inside was excellent as well. My son and the guests were very pleased. I strongly recommend this place.

    Birthday cake

This place is awesome! I placed an order a week ago for my sister's birthday cake and the woman on the phone was so helpful and kind. I sent multiple inspiration photos that I thought were going to be very difficult to replicate but they did it perfectly and in my opinion even better! The service was awesome and my cake is beautiful cannot recommend them more!

This is mainly a pasty review. If it was a pasty shop, the score would probably be lower. So Cakes A Bloomin has gluten free options, but doesn't make gluten free pasties, even on request. The price is extremely high for a bakery. $8 for an 8 oz. pasty is more similar to restaurant prices. Not bakery prices. Crust is mediocre and dry and the insides are diced a bit too large. They've been around for awhile, but should probably update the pasty recipe and price.

    Drip birthday cake

First time ordering from cakes-a-bloomin' and I am so happy I did! We ordered a drip cake with macarons for my son's third birthday and added the Bluey decor ourselves. The cake was beautiful and a very fair price. I will definitely be ordering in the future for my event/occasion needs.

I ordered MSU cookies for my sister-n-laws birthday and they turned out beautiful. Everybody loved them. Thank you!

Got a gluten free cake. Very nice they had one on hand and I was able to get it quick. It was ok. Very dense and small for a very expensive price. 8inch for $25 White cake. I bake an just didn't want to for my birthday. It was ok for a gluten free but I have had much better. Probably won't order again and will try a different place or just bake my own. Have NOT had anything else there. Just the Gluten Free cake.

So many to choose from. This isn't even half the flavors!

Finally! A bakery which has excellent customer service AND excellent baked goods! Other bakeries…read moreboast "old world recipes", too, but too much butter doesn't make it better. I ordered a German Chocolate signature cake and it was beyond delicious! The cake itself was moist and flavorful and the icing was perfect. It wasn't too sweet and was noticeably made from fresh ingredients. I never refuse a piece of cake, so from experience I can say that this German Chocolate cake was the most authentic you'll find in the greater Lansing area. The staff is very professional, helpful, and pleasant. They delivered the cake to my front door at no extra charge and took precautions such as a "no contact delivery." Their prices are reasonable, and moreover, less expensive than their competitors.

The only place to get any info on this company is external sites such as google or yelp. This company doesnt have a BBB site so i have requested to make one via bbb.org to add an additional source so people dont get duped by Whipped Bakery's practice of deleting complaints. This company has tried to smear customers on their facebook page, deletes all reviews that are negative and even blocks accounts on facebook to prevent any kindve negative review. They have crossed a line with the community and are getting farther from getting any sort of respect back. This company in my opinion doesnt deserve business of hard working citizens, not after how i have seen how they conduct said business. ***End of updated section*** Avoid this place in regards to events and poor customer service. Between the staff being extremely unhelpful to an owner that is brazen and rude enough to try and over charge on a kids 5th birthday this isnt a place to do any event with kids of any age. Was advertised on facebook for a great place to do a kid birthday but thats far from truth. The staff was unpleasant - not as in they were extremely rude in the yelling manor but more of the crowd that never smiles and doesnt appreciate life. Doesnt introduce themselves, never gets involved and has a feeling of not wanting to be there. As a crowd that has small children every parent pitched in to clean up and help setup. The space was extremely small and even when told how many people were going to be there nothing was mentioned about how they dont have the seating to accommodate all (total of 8 children and 5 adults) - 6 seats for that crowd, I would think at least get enough for the kids - or better yet - explain to your customer prior that they would have to bring their own seats would be wise in my opinion. This was booked 30+ days in advance. We didnt complain about this when we arrived or left, its something i thought i would add just in case someone likes to deal with these kindve situations even after reading a detailed review. Lets move onto desert. Taste wise, ill give credit where credit is due - not bad, TBH had better for the price but thats not the point. The main point is that when making a unicorn cake whipped bakery missed the mark, even having a very well inspiration photo that isnt over the top. Well, I cant tell if they were purposely slapping us in the face or if it was i giant artistic mistake. After speaking to the manager/owner - im feeling it was both. To explain the major issue - they cant do a unicorn's horn at all... or ears... If you cant do it - please state that before hand instead of trying and making it look like something you would buy from an 'adult super market', if ya know what i mean. Moving onto price. The business was paid a $75 deposit, then prior to the event paid $187 for a cake and cupcakes ($135 for the cake, $42 for 24 cupcakes) after the event we paid the remaining balance for time/space of their floor ($75) and shakes made for everyone ($31 total, $10 for the b-day kid and $3 for the remaining 7 kids) bringing our end checkout $108 and change after taxes - where the issue comes in with price is the owner tried to have her lovely staff charge us ~$170 instead of $108. We had all the receipts to show what was needed to be paid/been paid and was explained to them what was going on but that is when things went real south. After having to listen to the owner huff and puff their stuff on the phone we thought that was the end of it. Unfortunately the owner then took it upon themselves to smear us on facebook. Saying we left things a mess and didn't pay our bill. When rebutted on their comments with class (no yelling, no name calling or being spiteful) comments would be deleted and accounts banned from their page only leaving the handful of praise comments that have no clue of the situation - and now cant be educated on the situation. When someone treats customers of their own community like this it screams volumes at the horrible person they have, and are, continuing to become. To go into detail about the mess - we had 2 out of 50 balloons pop, 1 was a small filled confetti balloon and the other wasn't filled. We picked up what we could and a small amount of confetti was left (all on the floor, none on products/counter tops) . Not done though, again credit where credit is due - we left a balloon group (about, 10 balloons). Now, this was an accident because we were so taken aback on how the staff treated us it was just forgotten - i guess you can say we wanted to get out of that horrible experience and never go back but in our haste forgot a handful of blown up balloons. To be smeared over that is completely unacceptable.

What's Good This is the kind of place I generally root for…read more Locally owned, attention to ambience and identity, a focused menu that doesn't try to do too much, and an effort to make you feel welcomed. Batter Up Bistro reminds me of several places I've visited in New Orleans with a jazz trio playing ragtime as I enjoyed brunch and maybe a midday Hurricane cocktail. The interior is rustic chic while still being warm and inviting and I really enjoyed the beverages I ordered. The Apple Crisp Latte ($8) I ordered for my breakfast visit was hot and made me feel even more cozy. Apple simple syrup paired with house coffee blend and oat milk with notes of cinnamon was very pleasing to the palette without been blown away by apple flavor. The Baron ($15) was a pre-dinner cocktail with whiskey, ginger beer & liquor, almond bitters, and a hickory smoked finish. It was strong, but not breathtaking, a well-balanced flavor profile. What's Really Good Dinner service was suitable even if a bit slow, especially given the few diners that were also in attendance that evening. The bar tender was also waiting tables and while he was capable and hospitable, he clearly had too much on his plate running the front of house solo. I started with the Sea Scallop appetizer ($17). Three substantial scallops with a dill forward dusting sit atop a lovely, creamy parsnip puree. The puree was slightly sweet and the microgreens that were likely intended more as a garnish offered a nice textural note. The scallops were cooked uneven if I'm being honest where only one out of the three had a desirable brown crust and the other two were grayer. Dinner went up several notches with the Pan-seared Salmon ($32) which I ordered blackened. The fish was tender and flaky, and the blackened seasoning was right on target. The salmon paired quite well with the roasted Brussels sprouts, which themselves had a lovely char, and the wild rice. I also appreciated the accompanying blackberries which offered a touch of sweetness without compromising earthiness. Best Bite My first visit was a bit lonely as I was the only patron dining on a Thursday mid-morning. Perhaps the previous day's snowfall had scared others away, but I was itching to get out and about finding the breakfast selections a respite from winter's doldrums. I ordered the Eggs Benny ($20) with perfectly poached eggs atop their delightful house baked toast which was dense enough to hold up the thinly sliced ham, eggs, microgreens, and herbaceous hollandaise sauce. The sauce was rich and creamy with a pleasant punch of lemon and dill. The dish is served with garlic and herbed red skin breakfast potatoes and they were a hit. Also, a star was the side of thick cut bacon ($8) which was smokey and a perfect medium cook. Chef Cari came out to express her gratitude for my visit, which only made me wish more folks had joined me that day.
