I realize that it has been decades since visiting Cheddars. I will not wait that long for the next time. The place is conveniently located on Saginaw HWY along with a lot of other eateries. There is lots of parking. The restaurant has some mileage to it as it is a bit dated, but I liked it. We enjoyed the big booths and large table. Lucky it was large because we ordered more than a few things. To start, we ordered the onion rings and the fried cheese for our appetizers. They were both quite good, but my favorite was the onion rings fried to perfection. Light and crunchy and just a great bite. We also ordered what Cheddars calls the painkiller. It is a large tasty drink that is sort of a combination of a piña colada Meets a Mai Thai. The meals included the Key West chicken and it comes with rice and two sides. It has a kick to it and it's really flavorful and tender. We also ordered the sirloin and the hand breaded chicken tenders. Both were quite delicious and I love the crunch on the chicken tenders. The sides were also really nice and they included the sweet carrots and the broccoli cheese casserole along with crispy fries. This was quite a meal and it filled us up in a very happy way. We ate up and we left very happy and full with the idea of returning here soon. I don't live around here but when I visit this area, I will definitely stop here again. read more

DATE & TIME OF VISIT: April 2026. They were not too busy (there was no wait line). CLEANLINESS: Unfortunately the last few times we have come the cleanliness has been lacking. Floors everywhere were extremely dirty, bathrooms dirty, and when I peaked inside the kitchen (while walking by) so filthy (to be honest, we considered leaving before even ordering anything!). HOSTESS & SERVER: The hostesses were fine, not rude but not friendly either. Our server (male with dark hair) was very nice, he at times gave off a vibe of being new. The service is still very SLOW, so plan to be sitting awhile waiting to order, get food, etc. FOOD: This is what we ordered.... Cheddars Trio Sampler -- 3 Choices were: Chicken Tenders, Wisconsin Cheese Bites, and Queso Fries. Taste: Chicken tenders were good, cheese bites were very good (greasy though), queso fries were alright. Size: average. Price: $12.49 Cheddars Trio Sampler -- 3 Choices were: Chicken Tenders, Chips & Queso w/meat, and Queso Fries. Taste: Chicken tenders were good, chips were good, queso with meat was fine, queso fries were alright. Size: average. Price: $12.49 Monte Cristo -- Taste: it was alright but found it was too sweet and got sickening to eat after the first piece. Size: average. Price: $11.99 Baby Back Ribs -- Taste: very dry. Overall flavor was alright but we had a hard time getting past how dry and tough they were. Greens beans were not very good. Mashed potatoes were good. Size: average. Price: $16.49 OVERALL THOUGHTS: Server was very kind but service in general is slow. Cleanliness has definitely been lacking and I honestly would hate to see what happens in the kitchen!! JACOB said they only take groups of 20. He said even the Atrium was too small to hold us all. He was initially overwhelmed by our LARGE. group; but he finally got us all seated at the different single tables/booths available. We got Destiny as our excellent and NEW waitress who did a wonderful job for us. She was so sweet and accommodating and fast. * I was surprised that ALL of us at every table rec'd fresh, hot, 'scratch' buttered croissants and ONE plain - since I'm allergic to dairy butter. The one without butter was for me. ** I have 57 food allergies. Destiny and the Chef remembered that and brought me one I too could eat....and it was delicious. Delicious and FREE as appetizers. * I ordered grilled shrimp on rice, steamed broccoli & carrots. The shrimp came marinated ... had something spicy in it (I'm allergic to all peppers - except black); so Destiny took them back for plain grilled and I had no problem..my meal, as was everyone at my table, was delicious and 'safe' for me to eat. I had the Cajun Chicken Bowl here, and let me tell ya, it was a wee bit spicy! The list of ingredients did not include Cajun sausage, but it was in there. That's probably one of the reasons it was a bit warm. I'm not complaining, it was good. I'm not sure what I thought about the pico de gallo that was on top though, it wasn't quite what I was expecting, and I would probably ask for it to be on the side if I were to order it again. This entree reminded me of Jambalya, but with pico on it. I love Jambalya, so I was good with it. But seriously? There are so many things on their menu that looked good I would probably try something else the next time. We started the meal with a croissant and honey butter. I could only eat half, so I took the other half home with me.............along with my aunt's that she figured she better not eat. This restaurant definitely deserves another visit. read more

I absolutely love Cheddar's and it is my go-to restaurant when I am out in this direction. Cheddar's is affordable it's got a very savory menu to choose items from. The drinks and mocktails are great. If you're super big into soup their potato soup is incredible and my mother couldn't have made it better. If you're also looking for a good place with good atmosphere and quick service this is the place for a quick bite to eat. Another key point in reviewing cheddars they are one of very few places I've found that actually know how to cook a steak to the point where it melts in your mouth and that is something that is hard to find. read more

My family and I came on Oct 17 at 10:36pm and as soon as we walked in the host said they were closed. When I asked why they were closed early when their sign on the door said 11pm she said they closed the kitchen already and cannot serve us. This was highly suspicious because having worked in hospitality that does not seem to be protocol. I don't know if it's a northern thing but in the south we just don't treat people that way. I had a free birthday offer, so we stopped over for a quick lunch after shopping. The only complaint I have is having to wait at the host stand to get our name on the wait list. There was no one around and lots of empty, dirty tables. We were finally quoted a 15-minute wait, but seated after 2 minutes when a table was finally cleared/cleaned. The free honey butter croissants were fantastic! The entrees were pretty good with big portions, although my garlic toast was hard and overdone. The server was very attentive, which made the experience pleasant. To top it off, my free birthday dessert was exceptional. The restaurant was fairly quiet. The food was good. Service was okay. My complaint was that our dining area was filthy. The floor was covered in crumbs, I mean like piles of crumbs everywhere. I mentioned it to our server and she just shrugged and said "yea, we should probably sweep that up" but no one ever did. Most tables where people had finished eating and left hadn't been bussed. This has been my favorite restaurant since I was a kid! Been coming here for probably close to if not over 20 years now and it has always been my favorite place to get food! Their chicken tenders are to die for but I also love their broccoli cheese and rice casserole as well as the complimentary croissants! Their service here is always top notch, never had a single bad experience. Shout out to the waiter who gave me a small bowl of ranch when I said I wanted a lot of ranch!!! Wow, cheddars management & food has took a turn for the worse! Not only did they give me the wrong pickup order. When I drove all the way back to get the correct order, they MESSED IT UP again! I got home & called them back and the manager tried to argue with me telling me I was wrong. Obviously he has no attention to detail gave me 2 mashed potatoes instead of a mashed potatoes & a potato soup- the ONLY thing my sick baby wanted. The food was cold too like they gave me the bag of food that had been sitting there the first time they gave me the wrong order. Great prices, and perfectly cooked food with comforting flavors I actually dragged by Grandma back here after YEARS when she apparently received bad service. Been coming to this place for years and not a single thing about it ever disappoints! Starting with the atmosphere, I was actually a kid when this place caught on fire many years ago now and I'm happy to say it looks exactly the same. I love the nostalgia of going there but also the charm! Feels like a very nice place to be eating for a great price! As far as the service goes, the staff here is absolutely incredible. Never had a single bad server, they're always incredibly friendly and helpful and accommodating! Lastly...the food, the biggest reason I go back. I mentioned before that the prices are really good and that does depend on your budget. I will say, based on the portions you get, the service you get and the ambiance around you it's, it's worth the price for that alone. Not to mention I've never had a single thing I don't like there! The croissants they start you off with are some of the best I've ever had, the Cookie Monster dessert is like heaven in a pan and the chicken tenders are to die for. On october 4th i ordered lemon pepper fish at carry out and receive blackened pepper. I call in the manager said I can come in to pick it up when I find time. On november 9th i came in to get my replacement and general manager thomas told a servant that there is no such list. I took my daughter and family plus parent to Cheddars on Valentines Day. We were promptly seated. Waitress was friendly. Problem was with the food. Waitress brought over our appetizer which looked delicious but the dip had a hair In it. Ok, we just didn't use the dip... then the entrees were brought. My son in law pulled a good size hair off my plate but then my grand daughter started eating her Alfredo. She pulled a pretty long hair that was enter twined with the noodles out of her food!! That was last straw to everyone losing their appetite. We used to go to Cheddars all the time and were looking forward to sharing it with our family. It was a two hour drive to get there, only to be embarrassed snd grossed out with the hair. I did write an email to Cheddars but they didn't bother to respond. THIS PLACE!!! We used to live in southern OH and would go to the Highlands to eat at Cheddars. We moved back home to Northern MI. The closest one to us in Lansing which is about a 4hr drive from us. We have made the trip twice for their Monte Cristo! The food prices are great and affordable and the taste and quality is worth the drive! Wait times are minimal and the staff are fantastic! Didn't get a chance to take pictures of the menu, but I came for only one thing, their Monte Cristo sandwich. One of the best I ever had. I ate at their location in Lafayette IN and knew when I got sent to a conference in Lansing where I would eat dinner. My coworker came also but to get take out for both her and her sister to enjoy. My coworker also got the Monte Cristo sandwich and told me at work she also loved it. I just didn't remember that their version of green beans don't taste like the southern ones I grew up with. I don't like them. Service was spotty but they were busy and probably short staffed. I just wish they would put one of these in Ann Arbor since they seem to like being in Big Ten schools towns. Don't waste your time or money! Horrible experience! Waited over an hour for our food - when the waitress brought the food our side of bake potatoes were missing. We asked about them and she told us they didn't have any and started to walk away. We stopped her and asked why we weren't told they didn't have them when ordering (or when she was made aware) so we could choose another option. No answer but did offer to get us something else. It was clear she wasn't planning to offer and was hoping maybe we wouldn't notice. The food was barely warm, center of the fish was cold. Waitress was no where to be found - waited a bit and then paid via the kiosk. Probably shouldn't have as food was barely edible and ended up not eating. At that point we had been there for almost two hours, (we had an appetizer first that was slow but not nearly the hour wait for entrees and it was warm at least) Couldn't wait to leave - terrible experience overall. I have to say the prices for food and drink are veryreasonable, especially given how much food and dining cost have gone up the last several years. I'd say that alone should make this a consideration for your next family night out. As for me, our family doesn't dine out often so we do we like a place with more interesting or exceptional food. The food at Cheddars is solid but nothing to write home about. The inside of the restaurant is well done and clean. Always loved the fish tank at the entrance. We were there for lunch on a Saturday. Got there when it opened. It took us about 20 minutes to get seated and probably half hour to get our order in. my co workers and I got lunch this past Friday ! The food was awful rubbery burger under cooked fish miniature croissants ( half cooked) and no condiments for the burger or my baked potato ! I asked for a refund ( the coworker paid & I didn't have her card ) so they promised a gift card ! it still had not arrived via email they keep giving me the run around and making excuses the three times I've called ! I want to start out by commending the staff at this Cheddars, they were a delightful bunch and I felt well taken care of! I ordered the Buffalo shrimp salad as my appetizer and it was deeeelicious!! I enjoyed that salad more than the entree to be honest. Along with the salad I got a strawberry lemonade which was a delight. Then I moved on and ordered the chicken tender and fried shrimp combo. The chicken was a bit dry and the entree as a whole was very underwhelming. The corn was fine but the rice was a mistake. It was undercooked and unseasoned so I regret ordering that. I have been there before a couple of years ago, there are always people waiting to go in. Had to go bar section to get someone one to check in. There were about six people ahead of us, they said about a 15-minute wait, but less then 10 minutes. The waitress was friendly and talkative. Placed order, about less then 10 minutes, received fried cheese, salad, baked potato, four pieces chicken. The food is always good, no complaints. Since I was unfamiliar with the Lansing area, I counted on my fellow yelpers to steer me in the right direction to find dinner - and they didn't let me down. Thanks, y'all :) The wait for a table at around 630p on a Sat was about 45 mins, so I sat at the bar which was perfect. The bartender was very busy, but did a good job of keeping everyone happy. I decided to try a drink called the Painkiller - a huge tropical concoction made with dark rum that took me back to the islands and tasted amazing. I loved the toasted coconut along the rim - they get it to stick there with honey. Yum. Haha.. yes I licked the glass, there's no shame in my game ;) My entree was their coconut shrimp, which was fantastic. Generous portion of shrimp, and it was crispy but not greasy. I liked the dipping sauce that accompanied it, too. They offer a large choice of sides, but I just kept it simple went with the fries and slaw. Cozy atmosphere, good service and food. We were in Lansing for an archery tournament and used to go to a Cheddars in Ontario, Ohio and loved it. Parking lot was packed but there was no wait and we were seated right away. Our server was Nicholas B. (Nick) who was absolutely amazing. He apologized for the wait which was all of 3 minutes and said he'd be right with us. He came back promptly took our drink order and we ordered. He was very attentive asking frequently if there was anything we needed but wasn't at the table every 2 seconds. The food was great, we think it was even better than in Ohio. This restaurant is an hour away from where we live. We definitely think it is worth the drive every couple of months. Just came in for a take out order. Initially the bartender was helpful but that changed quickly. There's two of them behind the bar, at this moment, and neither of them 1) makes eye contact with customers, 2) anticipate that you might want another drink, 3) is remotely friendly. While the food is decent, the service is consistently crap, especially in the bar area. Couple of tips: get your bartenders off of waiting tables and teach them to talk to people. read more
