It's spacious and clean, and I was pleasantly surprised by the service to table. I got the $11 classic meal that came with 4 tenders, fries (lots), Texas toast, choice of sauce, and a drink. Pretty good deal for all that! The chicken was decent! Not as crispy as I'd like, but good flavor. I got the namesake slim sauce and it was tangy and peppery. The toast was really good! This place has some potential. But unfortunately my visit was not up to standard. I got the crispy chicken sandwich which was okay however, it was overcooked in the middle. That's a big pet peeve when it comes to Tenders & chicken sandwiches etc. Only thing saving them from two stars is I got to try five of their sauces for like 1.79. It pains me to give a bad review but I just did not have a great experience with Slim Chickens. Maybe I caught them on an off night but it was...not great. I did order delivery so maybe that's not the way to go here? Anyway I went with the classic meal made up of 4 tenders, fries, and Texas toast and an order of the chocolate brownie pudding. When the order arrived right off the bat I realized they had forgotten my brownie dessert, which was a bummer cos I was craving something chocolate big time! (I was able to get that refunded at least?) Womp womp. I opened my meal next and found it was cold. Womp womp x2. Another disappointment! I'm perplexed why it was so cold though. I don't live that far (I've done carryout from places near there and everything was nice and hot by the time I brought it through the door). The order was also picked up quickly and delivered to me promptly. So maybe everything was perhaps cold to begin with? Or I got someone else's order that had been sitting there? IDK. Either way, it was disappointing. I reheated it in the microwave which helped somewhat but you definitely lose crunch from both the chicken and the fries that way. And the texas toast definitely got soggy, too. After reheating I did dig in and the chicken was not bad, though again, a bit soggy, and the breading was a bit on the salty side. The fries, however, were even saltier. And I like salt so for me to say that means it was as salty as the seas. I even had trouble taking my rings off later bc I was bloated from it all. So IDK. Not for me I guess. Maybe I would have been better off visiting myself but even if it wasn't cold I wasn't that into all that sodium. So I'm in no rush to try them again. read more

When I first arrived to the establishment, I was overwhelmed with emotion. The place on the outside was beautiful, you could really tell that they tried there hardest to build this place. I walked into the doors, and ordered my food. It was banging, the chicken was nice and juicy. The sauce was good, the ranch was spectacular like Charlamaine tha god on a friday night. The honey mustard or whatever was also good. My only complaint is the Korean BBQ sause, it tasted like sweaty taint. This was our first visit, and we can't wait to come back! We were greeted immediately upon entry by a super friendly gentleman, who offered assistance with their menu offerings. He was also very thankful for the veteran we had in our group, which is always so nice. They have multiple different options, from chicken tenders, wings, sandwiches, and salads. We ordered some chicken strip meals and upgraded to their hand-spun shakes, and tried their Slim sauce and house-made ranch. The chicken was tender, juicy, crispy, and super flavorful. Perfectly cooked, and done in obviously clean fryer oil. The fries were crispy on the outside, perfectly golden brown, and well-seasoned. We made our selections and were given our drink cups. The drink area is self serve. The employees maintain the area well as it was tidy. There's Coke products, teas and lemonade to choose from. Our food was delivered to the table after a reasonable wait. The employee made sure everything we ordered was there and we dug in. The crispness and flavor on the chicken is delicious. The fries and Texas toast are tasty but the chicken is definitely the star! The slim sauce is delicious! Great to dip but the chicken is also great without it. The dip is just a bonus. We tried the 5 & 5 combo meal, which was 5 chicken tenders, 5 wings, fries, garlic Texas toast and a soft drink. The Tenders are cooked in a nice buttermilk batter which is not heavy, but very tasty. The chicken was moist and had good flavor. The chicken wings were decent size and can be tossed in a variety of different sauces. I wish I would have tried some of their different sauces but I went with honey mustard which is my go to. When we got in they were busy but we got our food in a timely manner. We were hoping this place would turn out to be better than we had feared. It did not. We agreed that we would go to a KFC before we'd go back here again, and we never go to KFC. The one good thing about this experience was that the service provided by the teen employees was friendly and prompt. The ambiance was odd due to two random guitars hanging on the walls and the baffling sign that says "Hand, breaded and cooked to order." What does "cooked to order" even mean in a chicken restaurant? (Rare?? Medium rare??) We would have preferred to have our chicken grilled or baked, but those were not options. Another sign said, "Delta Blues and Honest Food." We couldn't hear or see any correlation to either one. Delta Blues? Honest food? Hmm...They did have three guitars stuck on the walls but no "Delta Blues" were heard. Maybe they're trying to be a fried chicken "Hard Rock Cafe?" Honest food? Really? SMH As we feared, meat was only served deep-fried, and although there was a wide variety of sauces, only one of the 3 we sampled was tasty. We tried bleu cheese, honey mustard, and honey barbecue dipping sauces. The honey BBQ was the only sauce with distinctive flavor. We were surprised when the wings, which we ordered "dry,"were small and had smooth, dry skin that looked like and had the texture of shoe leather. The tenders were heavily breaded but much more tasty and juicy than the wings. Oddly, a slice of Texas toast mysteriously accompanied the dinners and it was covered with some kind of oily substance we expected to be butter but tasted like old cooking oil. All beverage offerings were sugar-heavy except for Diet Coke and Diet Dr. Pepper. None of the teas or the lemonade offered were unsweetened. Our trip was recommended by Adam, an employee, to try the Ann Arbor location. We were given great service and attention by Adam and the entire staff that helped with our order. We asked for food recommendations and the choices were outstanding. Five for five was such a great portion that it ended up being two meals. The chicken sandwich was a good choice as well.
