Stopped in for lunch. I ordered 2 Coney dogs without buns french fries and a coffee. The service is always fast. I ordered my dogs to be grilled. They came back really tough. They didn't taste like the grilled hot dogs I make in my backyard. The french fries where to crispy they actually crunched when I chewed them. The waitress deserves five stars very attentive.Checked on me twice. I can't say I won't go back because this is the first time I had a complaint. Stopped in and got a Mediterranean salad to go. Great fresh mixed greens. Beets, cucumbers and olives were great. The grilled chicken was plentiful, juicy and tender. June tomatoes though should not be so pale, mushy and tasteless really. As usual I loved the Greek dressing. Came with hummus on the side and pita. Super speedy ordering! Even though the restaurant is not seating customers now (May 2020) due to the COVID-19 pandemic, you can still place orders for pick-up. Nothing is lost in quality with to-go orders. The menu spans breakfast items to sandwiches and of course, coney dogs. I have enjoyed everything that I've tried and you can't beat the value! There is no better Coney Island in the Ann Arbor/Saline area!! The staff is so sweet & good at what they do and the food is incredible. We've been going to this location for years and like to think of them as our extended family. My sweet Mom is in the end stages of brain cancer & whenever she gets to choose dinner, it's Leo's. I wasn't a fan of this place. Our waitress for many orders wrong for our table and disappeared for long periods of time. I ordered the Philly cheesesteak and fries...fries are extra. It was extremely dry. My nephew was given the incorrect order and my sister in law was only given half of her order. The waitress disappeared for so long that my brother had to go up to the front to ask someone for straws and napkins. The waitress ending up taking a small percentage off of the bill (without asking) so I thought that was nice but the whole experience was so bad, that it didn't make it any better. Unfortunately, the owner pays for these ads to lure you in and then does not honor the coupon, so you will be screwed This place gets a 1 star rating and hope nobody else gets cheated! I spoke to the owners son, Sam about this at the restaurant. He said they don't accept coupons and could not answer why they run this paid ad on Saveon. He said he has to talk to his dad, but please mind you this guy is a grown man, not a kid. He said he couldn't give me the discount back as I paid with a charge card. He said come back and maybe he will take the coupon to make it up to me. At this point, things were just a little too stupid and very petty, so I walked out. Even if you've never been there, you have probably heard of Leo's Coney Island. They have 50+ locations in SE lower Michigan. The Saline location has been in the "Walmart" mall for a few years now. You can tell that they put some thought (and $) into making the interior look nice, with elegant sconce lighting, marble table tops and screen printed logos on the glass dividers between booths. They serve all the classic coney island fare from American and Greek cuisine - several pages of choices. Our waiter was ready to help us right after we sat down. I had to ask her to give me another minute to decide what to order. She must have had to keep track of a lot of tables, so there was no time to dilly-dally. She got us what we needed at the right times, and moved on. I decided to get a small Caesar salad with a grilled chicken breast on top. The small salad turned out to be rather generous. The bowl was about 8" in diameter, and you get a lot of salad. I liked the Romaine lettuce, definitely a step up from regular head lettuce. The dressing was just OK - I thought it was too acidic and "industrial" tasting. They sure gave me plenty. If I had the chance to order this salad again, I'd tell them to leave off the croutons. They were the same size and color as the grilled chicken (which somehow I assumed would be sliced into skinny strips - don't ask me why) and about the same quantity. I think the croutons overwhelmed the salad, which was served with a white pita bread, which I'd rather have than all the croutons. I didn't want a carbo overload, so I didn't eat all of my pita. Hubby got a cheeseburger. It had lettuce and tomato on it. He said it was fine. Fries are extra. He didn't want any that day. The lemonade without ice (I usually prefer not to freeze my esophagus) was too sugary. I couldn't drink much. I'm spoiled with my not too sweet home made lemonade with Stevia powder. Tough act to follow. Leo's is busy. They get a lot of business. I noticed a few small shreds of paper on the floor, here and there. A high traffic area. There are TVs on the walls, but the one closest to us was turned off or not working, not that I was interested in the talk show that was playing on the other wall. With a sports bar next door, I guess you'd go over there if you wanted a sports channel. Oh, and the front door squeaks so much, you'd think they'd notice, and do something about that. read more

This location rivals the Pittsfield location on Carpenter Road. Easy parking, near a hair cutting place and good Chinese take-out place. Seating is plentiful and I've never had to wait for a table unlike the Pittsfield Coney Island location. The nice thing is that the service here is also excellent and the kitchen staff has NEVER screwed up my order. IMHO, the value picks on the Leo's menu are the Chef's salad and country fried steak. They have a Saline-specific supplementary menu so be sure to check that out. You cannot go wrong with their burgers either. Will return to spend my hard-earned money! read more

Table looked half-ass wiped down, seat backing was busted worse than a car after a roll over accident, and the menu had dried lettuce on it from God knows how long ago, but as a chef, hearing from the waitress that there is absolutely NO communication in the kitchen, I felt my soul leave my body because it already knew my impending death... I'm already appalled by lack of care for the most basic common sense known to man, clean place to eat... BUT WAIT, THERE'S MORE!!!! I ordered the 1/2lb cheeseburger with fries and potato skins... lets start here... The burger (Which was deconstructed which scares the hell out of me) was like a chew toy, the cheese was a piece of a car tire, and the tomato was like it came right off the tire used as cheese. The fries had pieces of junk from the fry grease all over them which tells me they NEVER clean/ skim the oil. but the worst part was their sad excuse of a shoe they call potato skins! Bacon was burnt so bad that I'm now convinced they don't have smoke detectors, otherwise they would have gone off, the cheese was congealed and there wasn't any potato in there... almost like cooked, flash frozen and thawed in a microwave. (FRESH MY ASS). Our friend got a salad, which was loaded with CLEAR AS DAY expired chickpeas. Im sure if I threw straight up dirt in that salad it would be less grainy and taste better than having rotten chickpeas from last new years in it. My wife got the club sandwich which was the only thing remotely good. Yet still the bacon looked like it had been sitting in dumpster juice without being touched for weeks. All in all, the best part of my meal was the coke i ordered and the napkin I used to spit my food into. We take the dogs to Manchester every other month for grooming and head to Saline for breakfast. Last time we did this the Saline Downtown Diner was closed on Monday - so we scheduled for Tuesday. Today there was a sign up that said closed Monday - Tuesday. So the wife searched for another breakfast spot - and came up with Leo's Coney Island. The young lady that served us was great. My wife removed her utensils from her rolled up napkin and went YUCK - there was a big glob of stuff on her knife. That happens so she got another. She ordered pancakes, sausage and coffee. The pancakes and sausage were ok - but as she said - you would think they would make sure they had good coffee - the coffee here was bad. I'm not a coffee drinker so I can't comment. I ordered a gyro meat omelet, hash browns, rye toast and a diet - whatever they had - Pepsi or Coke. The diet was good. And that's it. Lets start with the omelet. It looks like they threw the gyro meat and tomatoes on a grill top and fried them until there was no moisture left. Then dumped three eggs on top and fried it in about a 12 inch circle - and maybe flipped it once the bottom side was brown. Then browned the other side. Once they grilled any moisture out of it, the folded it up so it looked like an omelet - if you are far sighted. I couldn't detect any salt or pepper in it. The hash brown were browned on both sides - but again there was no moisture left in the hash brown - or taste. I was served three small slices of toast made from the end of a loaf of stale rye bread. Small I could handle - dry toast from stale bread isn't very appealing. The grape jelly from a Smucker's packet couldn't save the toast. So, we agreed this place would not be on our list of come back places - we would have gotten a tastier well cooked meal at a nearby McDonalds or Tim Horton's. As a last thing to do at Leo's was to use the restroom. One stall for the guys - and no way to latch the stall. Someone broke the latch - that happens - you can order them and get new ones in a day or two - I used to repair stuff for a living. In the meantime you can take a bolt with several nuts and make a latch for this design door to at least get by. No one did. On the plus side they actually provided warm water to wash your hands - and a paper product to dry them with. All in all it was a poor excuse for breakfast. Someone needs to pay attention to the details. Without much effort Leo's failed on half the details needed to make good food. read more

Myself and my spouse went into this restaurant yesterday, the host upfront told us we could seat ourselves. We did that, fifteen minutes went and waitresses passed us up, didn't speak and didn't serve our table. We were the only African Americans in the building they knew we sat down as well. So I got up and asked for a manager and told him what happened he apologized and waited on our table himself and kept apologizing. He then took our order snd gave us the bill, I have never not tipped but we didn't, service was disgusting and distasteful for us as customers to wait that long. I am also pregnant and definitely have no tolerance for sitting long periods of time without food. Even though am apology was issued Im sure this will happen again to someone else. Good food at really reasonable prices! The restaurant is much larger than it looks from the outside, with lots of comfy booth seating. It's very casual: you seat yourself and you go to the cashier to pay when you're finished. A woman came in to order take out while we were there, and they made her fried pickle spears, even though they weren't on the menu. My kids were thrilled with the children's menu selections, which range from pancakes and sausage (links or patties) to fish and chips and lots in between. I had a wrap, and the pita bread was yummy! Honestly, it was a giant wrap, stuffed with chicken and veggies. I didn't think I would be able to eat it all...but I did. My husband loved his fish and chips (and the 3-pc was only $7.50!). Our server was really sweet. She interacted nicely with our boys and offered us dessert, which we were too full to try. All kids meals are $2.99 on Wednesdays, which also features all-you-can-eat fish for the adults for $8.99. We'll definitely be back (and probably on a Wednesday!). read more

I have, on average, eaten here weekly for the past 2.5 years, and Leo's continues its downward slide. Higher prices, smaller portions and declining food quality. I give this place 2 more years , tops. Used to be decent quality and portions at a good price. That stopped about 6 months ago. My $4.59 baby Greek salad was a joke; and "paltry" is a kind term for the order of curly fries they tried to pass off onto me. My daughter's "sliders" were instead a burger patty cut into 1/3's, served on a cut up sub bun. Management is doing a disservice to its employees with this approach. We were curious to try a Coney Island having never been to one, and Yelp liked this one. Everything here was okay--okay hotdogs, okay fries, okay ambiance, okay service. The hotdogs were surprisingly good mostly because I was grossed out by the concept of a coney dog and then turned out to be okay with mine. But my all-beef dog was good, and the toppings worked nicely. My fiance got a regular half-beef, half-pork and said it was just as good. We also got some curly fries. They were standard, though the portion was a little scant, especially when it came to fries that were actually curly. The service was the best part--our waitress was sweet and attentive. Pro-Tip- if you want something more substantive than a McDonalds Sausage Biscuit, or a Burger King Crossanwich, order a carry-out Breakfast Special from any Leo's coney Island between 7AM-11AM. You can get scrambled eggs, meat, toast, and hash browns for under $5 including tip, (i tip a dollar every so often if i know who's putting my bag together... so less than $4 for cheapskates who don't believe in tipping carry out). And you get a pretty hearty portion. This Leo's is pretty much exactly like all the other ones in Michigan... good quality food on the cheap, coney dogs good, breakfasts are cheap and tasty (but not very adventurous), and everything comes out pretty fast. Of the many coney places in south Michigan this chain is my favorite. On our way to the thumb area we decided to stop and get a junk food fix at this particular Leo's. The service was fast and friendly and our order was out in record time. As always with Leo's food I was far from disappointed. I would give this place 5 stars if the cook or server would have delivered me a different order of jalapeño poppers instead of the ones the did deliver. The ones we did receive were hot and fresh although missing a bunch of breading. This is the only reason I knocked off a star. I order from here almost daily (during the week) and I can understand it gets extremely busy at lunch, but today and this wasn't the first time, I was asked to hold which I did for 5 minutes waiting, listening. I heard the cashier cash out the people she was helping while I was on hold, then I heard normal diner noises, then I heard her say table 4, I continued to hold hoping she would realize I was still on the phone that was sitting off the hook on the counter. After 5 minutes I hung up. I tried calling back MULTIPLE TIMES and it went straight to voicemail, most likely because she left the phone completely off the hook on the counter. Eventually I gave up and ordered from OSCARS right next door and when I went to pick up from Oscars I called Leos again just to see and guess what, the phone was still off the hook. I am writing this because the OWNER needs to know that he has lost a daily customer to Oscars now and I can tell you this, if a manager or the owner were to look at the sales for today they will see between 1145am til 1215pm (the last time i called) there will show no phone orders placed. We are longtime Leo's customers. The Carpenter Rd. location in Ann Arbor is great. Today's experience at the Saline location was poor. I arrived before 5:00 pm when there were few customers. The server took my order, forgot it, then 15 minutes later took it again, which caused a long delay in getting my meal. The pastitsio was okay (a bit dry), but the rice was so salty, it was not edible. Since the server did not come to check on me while I was eating, I informed her and the cashier when I was cashing out that I was unable to eat my rice for the reasons noted. The cashier said that others had mentioned how salty the rice was; but then said she couldn't adjust the bill because there was no manager there. She finally took 10% off the bill, which was only $1.25--but more should have been taken off, since the rice was a main part of the meal. So in sum: server loses order when the restaurant is not busy; doesn't check on table; rice is inedible--and they continue to serve it even after other customers have complained about it being overly salty, and staff claim they cannot adjust a bill when there is a major problem, unless a manager is there. I cannot recommend this location. read more

I mean it's a chain, and they're all over southeast Michigan. That being said my hubby and I are regulars since we moved to the ypsi/saline area. We used to go to the one in Canton regularly with my parents and it was quite a joy to find one so close when we moved. For $5 a sandwich it's not going to be mindblowingly amazing, but it's pretty darn good and always consistent. They are also great with special requests. My mom loves her bacon and has Rowan very well done. Always service with a smile :) We go maybe once a week or every other for breakfast. Highly recommend a gyro omelette with feta cheese. We had a terrible experience! I have been there many times before with no problems. Tonight, we went in to have dinner and the waitress messed up our orders, served the 3 of us at different times, with out silver ware, never asked us how the food was until she brought the check. one waitress was patting her weave while serving food! (DISGUSTING!) all while the rest of the waitresses crowed around one table (clearly friends or family) being so loud and unprofessional, one table got up and left before ordering! unfortunately, we will never be back with such unprofessional employees. read more
