    Ribs and Potatoes
    Cole G.

When I first walked into this restaurant the ambiance was absolutely fantastic. It only took a few seconds for the workers to notice and let me order. I needed a menu so pulled my phone to look at it, and the kind gentleman let me find out what I wanted and gave me time. The food took around twenty minutes which is fine because this place isn't fast food. While the appearance on the outside may fool you, this place is not fast food. It take a while to make much like other restaurants. I got my food and it was heavenly, the potatoes were so moist and crispy at the same time. They tasted like cinnamon sugar which is always a plus to me. The ribs were nice and juicy and slathered in some sweet spippy barbecue sause. The coleslaw was good it came with sprinkled pepprika, and the diet coke was good. The food id considerably banging, however there is one negative thing about this place that prevents it from getting a five star rating. The price, I got six ribs for twenty dollars, four!!!! If I go to Chili's I can get a whole rack for twenty four dollars. Anyways that was my only complaint. Keep up the good work.

I have had this food before so i am glad its in the area. The person at the front was very friendly and up beat. They took my order quickly. I had to wait 10 mins as it is cooked to order. I got a 2 piece with the bloated potatoes and corn as sides. The chicken is good and tasty, Well seasoned but not too much and it is not real greasy. It is good for semi quick food. I will be back.

Shack potatoes coleslaw and broasted chicken breast.

Great Broasted Chicken & fair pricing. I got the shack potatoes which were great a little more seasoning would've been perfect though. But I understand some people need to watch their sodium intake so I get it. The coleslaw was great not too sweet nice and creamy and the cabbage was ground super fine. Love that. The real Star was the chicken. It was really crispy and very clean and lightly salted. That's all I've tried from this restaurant as this was my first visit but I will definitely be going back and trying their other items.

    Chicken sandwich

I wanted a good chicken sandwich so I decided to check this place out - omg it was so so good. It was crispy, juicy, meaty and it tasted fresh. Referencing another review on here, the sides they have available are very dissappointing (it gives school cafeteria lunch sides) but the snack potatoes are delicious. I'll definitely be coming back whenever I'm in the mood for a good chicken sandwich or when the Popeyes right beside it has a line wrapped around the street.

As a long time, Chicken Shack customer being from the Eastside and being our go to for party catering and quick dinners going to the boat I was really disappointed in the last time I ordered. I have never ordered from the Ypsilanti location and walked in with hubby and the store was clean and the man at the counter appeared nice, so we proceeded to order a 12-pc tub and 5 pc fish dinner. That is our standard order every time, since I do not like fried chicken. I order and my bill came to $55 dollars, and we waited about 20 minutes and when we were called for the order, I asked if there was tartar sauce and the man behind the counter looked puzzled. I said for the fish, he said you did not order fish. I said I most definitely did, that is the only thing I order there. I asked him if her could just exchange the dinner and he blatantly said no. I was shocked. He said you ordered the chicken tenders, and they are too expensive to throw out and he would not make me a fish dinner. I explained calmly, I in no way ordered chicken tenders, I do not like them, I don't want the wrong order to keep them I want what I ordered. He firmly said that he would not remake them and that I was getting what I ordered. My husband is now at the point he says, I'll just buy an order of fish and at this point I said no, and we left. At this point we ordered $55 worth of food and I have nothing to eat. I figured it was a moot point to discuss this with this person anymore and that I would call their complaint line in the morning. This is where it gets really weird. I call their customer help line and hit the number for customer service. Called three times, no one answers. Leave a message we will get back with you soon. Left a message Friday, the day after the incident and then again on Tuesday the following week. I also wrote out a long and very detail message with copies of the receipt. To my shock, not a call or email back. Nothing. I can assure that this order is the last one I will ever order from Chicken Shack again. A company of this size does not answer their phone or emails. By the way the food was nothing special, the chicken pieces were tiny and weird shaped, difficult to determine what it was till you bit into it. I am assuming that the good recent reviews here are in response to a sign on their counter stating, leave them a good review and show them and you will get free food.

Chicken sandwich with side of green beans
    Katherine P.

Finally tried this place. I'd give it 3.5 stars if that was an option. The chicken sandwich was really good- juicy, tender chicken. I was a bit underwhelmed by the side choices. I chose green beans and coleslaw. The green beans were definitely lacking seasoning- could have used some salt. Otherwise, the beans were crunchy and not mushy like a lot of other places. The coleslaw was fine- a bit too diced for my liking but tasted good. I'll be back soon to try the fish. It takes awhile to get your order but that's how you know it's being made fresh and hasn't been sitting there for awhile.

5 piece English Cod dinner with fries and a biscuit.,

Been wanting to try this location for some of the English Cod. Finally made it here to try them out. I ordered the 5 piece English Cod with a biscuit and I choose fries for my side. The cod portion seemed a little small from my past history at other locations, but it may be how it is now a days. Everything did taste great though, have to remember to get your own napkins and stuff though. T The staff was really nice and friendly. The place was super clean and inviting.

    Chicken Tender with Potatoes

First time having Chicken Shack. Was a little skeptical at first due to the rating online and the location. Order a chicken tender lunch combo and was pleasantly surprised with the amount of food I had received. The chicken was overall good and had that crispy to it too. I had also gotten the potatoes that came with a good sauce to them. Overall was a good meal and would go back to again. Only downside to it was that it was almost $19 for just the one meal. I did get a good amount of food but was surprised by the price. Would recommend to others!

We arrived approximately 15 minutes before our reservations and were seated immediately in the sparsely filled restaurant. Their air conditioning was refreshing after a long day in the sun. Their menu has a Louisiana flair, so I ordered the chicken-and-sausage gumbo and had their étouffée as my main course. The dishes are very similar in content, except that the étouffée included crawfish and shrimp and came with two pieces of bread. Both were very good, but we're a little light on the Cajun spices. I enjoyed a soft parade pint of beer from their vast craft beer and wine menu. Others in my party of five enjoyed their salad with a protein pizza and a cheeseburger. They have low-top, high-top, booth, and bar seating, along with outdoor patio seating. Full bar. The interior has a knotty wood finish with a somewhat industrial feel. The building used to hold Civil War barracks. Clean restrooms. Excellent service. Pricey. Parking can be difficult. They have posted 3% surcharge fee that references fast-rising expenses. They do not charge a credit card fee, so I guess it balances out. I would recommend.

We were escorted to our table by our lovely host, and when we arrived at our table in the back of the restaurant, there was a cute "happy birthday" table card waiting for us. Also, I love how this restaurant is decorated - the art work, the furniture, and plants - all come together to create a welcoming, cozy, warm atmosphere for any dining experience. I also love how the menu continuously rotates and highlights fresh produce from local suppliers. We both ordered a different dish and shared, plus we had some leftovers, so the portions are very generous. We also tried some of the oysters with vinaigrette they were fresh and delicious. To conclude our dinner, we were gifted with a DELIGHTFUL banana pudding with a scoop of ice cream and a candle to make a wish (though our wish for a wonderful meal and dining experience was throughly satisfied already ) Thanks again for a great time bellflower!

OMG these sautéed garden veggies were the best! The other main was a Japanese curry dish. Here is why the five starting dropped to a four. It was just ok. We would not order again. A short time later I was told they didn't have tamales. I was bummed about that so I ordered three tacos with a side of rice and beans. I was surprised at how long the food took to come out. And the portion of rice and beans was tiny, especially for $4. Of the tacos, the beef was a little tough, but the chicken and pork were good. The rice and beans were both tasty. Just not enough. Overall for over $14, I didn't think the food or experience was worth it. Maybe the tamales are the star of the show.

We were here in December so the patio wasn't open but looks roomy with many picnic tables. We opted to sit at the bar because that's usually where we get personal with brew pubs we love to discover. We always search local brews when traveling and 9/10 times the bartender will greet us, ask if we've been there, make recommendations or tell us a bit about the brewery style. Not here. I'm not sure the bartender ever even made eye contact and pretty sure he wanted to be there even less than he wanted us to be there. We did get a few beer samples by request, but no recommendations, he didn't ask what we thought and he made us feel very unwelcome right from the start. However, once that bartender was relieved the new bartender was chatty and friendly to the new customers. We had finished our beers and meal by that time and just needed to cash out. So I would say maybe it's just that one employee. We had the pretzels. Kudos to the pretzel bread-- it was delicious. Beer cheese was pretty good, as was the mustard. We asked about the menu and what he recommends (still trying to be friendly and get him to warm up). He recommended the special menu, so we ordered the Blackened Salmon sandwich. It was okay/average. Fries were cold. We ordered the Table Talk beer and I enjoyed it. I'd say that the beer was the best part of the whole experience. Overall I'm glad we tried it but we wouldn't go back. If the bartender had been more welcoming and interested in sharing a bit more about the concept, we would give it a second try when we head out there again. It's always good to try other food items and beers, but the vibe doesn't warrant a second try. I can understand if a place is busy, but we were there at 2pm on a Saturday and were two of four at the bar and he didn't look to be super busy with the restaurant as a whole. It's always so disappointing when service falls so short on something that could be such a unique experience. Three stars for the beer and pretzel.
