We love Koala Tea (there's one down the road, just past Hagadorn) and were SO HAPPY to see this new, downtown East Lansing location. It's in a small storefront that is sort of like a TARDIS - there's SO MUCH goodness inside! Things we love about Koala: Kind, patient staff ALL THE FLAVORS Reasonable price TASTE Options for sugar actually followed (you would be surprised how many boba places thing no sugar is not a thing so they change your order. Not here!) Easy in and out Baked goods on offer Clear signage Things that aren't optimal here at this location: No seating area Not a lot of space, since it is small. If you need to ascertain exactly what you want and there are many people ordering, maybe look online at their menu before heading in. This is a much-needed boba option for East Lansing, and is very close to campus. Handicap parking spot across the street! LOVE KOALA. :)

TLDR: Great Milk tea and Baked Japanese goods in the heart of East Lansing I usually go to the bigger location 223 M. A. C. AVE so when i found out there was a location downtown I wanted to check out. Same quality tea same quality baked good I can't complain. What surprised me was how there was one person on staff that morning I went with my family and we got our tea in a timely manner, good service for sure! My only complaint is that there is now indoor seating like the other location and is really meant to just pick up tea and go which isn't really a bad thing.

Get the Szechuan fries; they are so good. The inside is great to study at, the workers are so nice and sweet.

My sister and I always pit stop here when driving between Metro Detroit and Grand Rapids…read more I am convinced that all of their fruit teas with cheese foam are delicious. The grape is my absolute favorite. You know it's real when there's grape skin at the end of your drink. The Uji Matcha is also good. Just be aware that it is more of a sugar-y, Starbucks-esque matcha, not the traditional earthy tasting matcha. As much as I love Moge, I only gave 4 stars because their tapioca pearls are inconsistent. Be sure to check out their rewards/order ahead as well!

I couldn't wait to get my hands on the delicious fruit teas. The first time I went to the East Lansing location, it really surprised me. The interior was simple yet very elegant. As you could see, it was a pretty photogenic place to take pictures of your drinks. The dining area seemed pretty spacious, they had small tables and also counter seats. I've tried a lot of items on the menu, however my ultimate favorite has to be the Cheese Foam Mango Tea. There was sweetness from the mangoes, cheesy from the cheese foam, and the slight bitterness from the tea. I thought that this was perfectly balanced. The service that I got here everytime has been amazing. By far, I think it is the best customer service I have seen for boba in the East Lansing area. Overall, I'll be coming back here pretty often. I would recommend others to try this place if they haven't!

Uni as in Michigan State Uni, and Cha as in tea. But in case you didn't know Cha was tea, they've put tea in the name too. So it says Tea Tea. Fun times. It's a Unicorn-themed tea place, and that alone deserves a high star rating. If I was rating just based on their drinks then I would have to give three stars despite how wonderful and friendly they are in here. They didn't have any tapioca or any other topping that I wanted. A lot of places - when they run out of tapioca - will still charge the full amount, which Unicha did, and it wasn't cheap. I really think they should give you something or knock off a dollar or something - that would be better customer service. On the other hand these guys were busy making elaborate Thai rolled ice creams for a whole bunch of cute young college girls who disappointed me by not really flirting with me. They did stare at my bunny on my arm a little bit and they did giggle and have wide eyes, but there certainly wasn't the sort of flirting that I hope for when I'm working out the way I do LOL. But that is beside the point. The point was it they had great customer service and that they rustled up my tea between the very long ice cream process for all the girls which meant that I could get out of there in a reasonable time since I wasn't doing the extensive ice cream making ritual that most people come here for. As for said ice cream. Honestly it looks pretty good and more often than not ice cream places doing Thai rolled ice cream do get it right. So I will give them 4 stars based upon the fact that they are more known for the rolled ice cream and it's pretty good. But I'll have to give it another try so that I can determine if I should lower to a 3 match the really really disappointing milk tea that went straight in the trash - or a 5 which is reserved for the very best Thai rolled ice cream places that I've loved the most. Or that I've loved the Moch, if they have Mochi as a topping. I even named my lovely little fierce deadly cat Mochi. What an awesome and cuddly kid he is. And lethal and fearless. Anyway I've already said too Moch, it's time to move on to the next review.

4.5/5 I will say…read moreeverytime I've stopped by Koi Tea, they've consistently served up the perfect bubble tea drink. I've tried a lot of drinks off their menu, including the one they modified for a seven-year-old who wanted a non-tea, but hot chocolate drink with the tapoica pearls. I'm not sure if it's the workflow of making the bubble tea here that makes it perfect or if it's the individual working the register- somehow it's always worked out. And the ambiance- absolutely relaxing. Nothing beats the YouTube Korean indie and rnb mix playing on TV with the faux vines curving around shelves and the walls, with an open window space concept (tons of light)! Something that I look for with bubble tea places are how consistently their tapoica pearls are cooked through and Koi Tea has been stellar. In previous visits, I've had their viet coffee with pearls, thai tea, and I would likely pick their fruit teas over the milk combos. Sometimes the milk teas end up pretty sweet even when ordered for 50% sweetness.

Koi Tea used to have some of the best boba in Michigan. Unfortunately, things change and the…read morequality here has really declined. We stopped by on our last drive through Lansing and got: Jasmine Milk Tea, 100% Sweet w/ Boba ($6.00) - There was no tea flavor whatsoever in this drink. It tasted pretty much just like sweetened creamer. The boba also did not have a consistent texture. Most of it was way too soft and was basically like overcooked mush. A minority of the boba was only a tad on the soft side and had a good chew, which was reminiscent of the boba here a year or two ago. It feels like Koi Tea mixed two batches of boba together, which is a huge faux pas for any boba establishment. I have no idea what happened to Koi Tea in the last year. Given stiff competition down the road and the quality this time around, I wouldn't go here again.
