Scoopy Doo's is the reason my family loves DeWitt. I love the lemon/blueberry cheesecake ice creams or the honey lavender. My son loves Superman or whatever flavor had lots of color (of course). I just wanted to have a nice ice cream cone... and I would've if it weren't for those meddling kids! Very lackluster first visit to Scoopy Doos. Everything was fairly picked over, which would have been fine, except the staff failed to fill us in on the fact until after we paid. I requested (and paid $7 for) a strawberry, banana, and mango smoothie... I received frozen mango and pineapple blended with ice... gourmet? Staff was very unapologetic, saying, "How was I supposed to know I needed yogurt for a smoothie? I just work here." Then said they can't function without their manager, who was out of town. Slightly concerned about the future of our nation's workforce; very disappointed in Scoopy Doos. read more

Went here with my lovely wife and friend. We tried the following flavors (corresponding ratings listed beside each flavor). Owner served us. She was very friendly and helpful in selecting our flavors. Lemon cheesecake - 4.0/5.0; ice cream good, but cheese cake chunks were below averages - waffle cone very good, though. Michigan Pothole - 4.8/5.0; very delicious ice cream - waffle cone delightful. Pirate's Bounty - 4.5/5.0; very good. Creamy and has good treats in it. Waffle cones the highlight. Great local/neighborhood ice cream shop located in the middle of downtown Dewitt. Lots of ice cream and soft serve options to chose from, in addition to ice cream/frozen yogurt/sorbet based drinks. I love this place. The do something with the soft serve here that makes it different...I don't know if there is a setting or they buy some different sort of mix than is normal, but it definitely is more flavorful and thicker than at other ice cream places. The made-to-order waffle cones are really excellent too and something unique in the area. The only downside is this place is popular so expect a line. read more

If you get a toddler cone they put cute little eyes on the ice cream which my little guy loves. Staff is always very friendly and patient. I have never had a bad experience here. Very friendly staff and the vibe of the business is wonderful. I tend to be very picky about my brands of ice cream and I'm partial to Hudsonville, so this is literally the only reason for the 4 stars! Personal preference! I love Scoopy Doos! My husband and I enjoy walking here after dinner for a treat. Sadly or fortunately, they close at 8 pm which is about when we usually finish dinner, which means we don't go as often as we'd like. I wish they'd stay open to 9 or 10pm since it's still light out. read more

I honestly really like the food, but I'm a little disappointed to see that they're moving across the street. I quite loved the old building and thought it was quite the eye pulling factor. Their new building looks kinda squished and has no curb appeal anymore. We'll see what happens I guess. Sad to see something so good to go to waste. read more

We love this place! My son stops at Scoopy Doo's at least a few times per week with friends in the summer. The owners are so kind and always love seeing him. You can't find better staff than here, and really just the cutest ice cream shop! Don't pass through DeWitt without stopping here! read more

Great little downtown ice cream joint with seating inside and out. Not a huge selection but a solid 16 or so flavors plus soft serve. They have a popcorn machine and nacho cheese warmer but I haven't seen either in use, possibly for parties. One nice plus was the Baby Scoop (essentially a half scoop) which is great for fickle 4yr olds. read more

I got a brownie sundae. Whipped cream was pretty bland. I wouldn't get a brownie sundae again-the brownie was the packaged kind we used to get with elementary school lunch, with the little colored candies on top. I wouldn't pay $.85 extra for that again! If the brownies were homemade I would in a heartbeat. The ice cream underneath the sundae was great! Next time I'll stick with just ice cream. read more

I had walked up to Scoopy Doos with a friend from out of town. We arrived at 8:43 to find they had already started cleaning only to be told they had already counted out the cash drawer so they were closed...last time I checked when a business has posted business hours (theirs happens to be 9:00pm), they tend to stay open to serve customers until that posted time. Have been a customer there for years, even prior to the sale, but will not go there again. My advice for anyone planning on getting ice cream there...call first-especially during business hours or maybe try DeWitt Golf Center on business 27 or IScream in Schavey Plaza. read more
