What better way to fulfill your sweet tooth than with a scrumptious donut! OMG! This place had an array of specialty donut flavors, my selection being the s'mores donut and the cronut (croissant donut) Both were fresh, soft, sweeeet, and delicious! Service was fast and I love that they moved pretty well to get your order going and even gave recommendations. It's such a cute spot with some modern/artsy decor. Definitely somewhere you'd enjoy visiting more than once.

It has honestly been too long since I've gotten donuts here. (I guess now that working remote gets you limited access to more fun things haha) I decided to pick up a dozen of these deliciousness for my kids to experience during the weekend. I ended up doing a morning pickup on their website for 7:45 AM. They have limited parking so I thought it would be empty since I was picking up early. Nope, boy was I wrong. They were already packed and had a line when I went in to pick up my order. Highly recommend doing online order and pick up if you don't want to spend extra money on some freaking delicious goodies. My favorite is the red velvet cake donut. As you can see...I ordered multiples and ended putting them in the freezer for late night snacks when the kids are in bed so I don't have to share. Lol Donuts are so pretty and huge. They def hit the spots when you're craving for donuts! Highly recommend for anyone who lives in Richmond and visiting.

Amazing cronuts but all the cake ones are way too The cronuts here are absolutely amazing too me flaky, fresh, and honestly hard to stop thinking about. They're definitely the highlight and worth coming back for. The only downside is that the cake-style donuts are a bit too sugary for my taste, which takes away from how enjoyable they could be. Overall, still a great spot, especially if you stick with the cronuts!

Assorted Dozen once

I already told the barista that the Chai Latte she made was..... They're 21 minutes away (I-95 is empty on Sunday mornings) and I feel like getting back on the road and going to get another one. Unfortunately after 2 of these donuts, I'm feeling like after Thanksgiving. I just want to recline in the chair and sleep til Xmas!! They put effort, time, and love into preparing everything. Their attitudes match their products. Pleasant, courteous, and the type of good mood and good energy that is contagious!!! A couple with a baby was in there and the cashier was actually talking to the baby and making her coo and laugh. The baby's mom expressed,"You're gonna need me to get the door for you." as she assisted me exiting with my 3 dozen guilty pleasures!! (I didn't eat them all. We have 5 kids and a niece living here and 2 other kids visiting that require spoiling every so often) My two complaints about the Lombardy store.... 1.) It's too damn small. The products and the attitude of the staff creates the type of atmosphere that requires a dozen or so tables for people to remain and soak enough of that good energy in, to go out and spread those good vibes around. 2.) I try to be at work at 7am and I try to bring positive energy in the door either me, especially on Mondays. The Sugar Shack doesn't open til 7am. I'd use up all that positive energy by the time I get through that downtown Richmond traffic. You guys are the greatest!! I appreciate your great donuts, lattes, and customer service!! Keep doing what you're doing!!!

If you're looking to satisfy your sweet tooth and carb cravings then Sugar Shack is for you! I live for these donuts! I would say that you can't go wrong with a classic glaze or a sprinkles, but definitely try out the red velvet. The shack is, well, small, but it smells so good inside. I have also had the coffee there and it is a good spot to grab and go. The service is sweet, just like the donuts, but that's not surprising to me at all. Please put this place on your list of to-do's if you haven't done so already!

My coworker brought in some donuts for my birthday. Wow, what an amazing assortment! Everyone in the office jumped at the opportunity to have one. There were so many yummy options to chose from. It's definitely a once in a while treat, but worth checking out if you're in the mood for a tasty donut.

No complaints perfect every time

So many VEGAN OPTIONS it's insane in the TASTEBUDS. Staff is CONSTANTLY as SWEET as the treats they serve up . Prices are a vibe and the vibe is priceless .

Stopped by Sugar Shack donuts to try some donuts. Upon entering the space and interior are welcoming along with customer service. There are plethora of donuts to select from. I prefer cake. And went for the blueberry and old fashion. Both were fresh and soft. I definitely would come back to try more if in the area. Definitely a must try!

fine but maybe next time would ask for coffee without the dead fly. if you want good donuts in Richmond, country style donuts is a million times better

Made a spontaneous stop for a doughnut this morning. Service was fast and courteous. Grabbed an amazing lavender doughnut and was in my way.

Mudpie donut

Best donuts I've ever had in my entire life! Area is a bit shady but they have such innovative flavors- especially that mudpie donut- and they are super soft but still donut tasting not cakes like duck donuts! Coffee is a 4/5 too (latte, mocha)

Friday 3/22/2024 The service was good and friendly. Tip: They give you a free house donut with yelp check in so don't miss out on the offer. We got an assorted dozen pack for $25.49 but the only donuts I had/tried were the Cronut, cinnamon roll, apple fritter, Oreo donut, glazed, and the fruity pebble donut. Overall, The donuts were alright but none of them really stood out to me besides maybe the Cronut (a croissant donut). One thing to note is that the donuts do taste a lot better when they are warmed up for a little.

Vegan Peach fritter 8/10 (peaches were lacking a bit but the fritter dough was perfection!)
Clara B.

We have traveled and tried a lot of vegan donuts, but these are by far the closest to "real" donuts that I've tried! They were perfect! Not greasy/waxy. Perfect glaze. I will come back over and over!! Almond milk vanilla latte was good, just not very sweet. Corner lot, plenty of parking in the lot.

Are there any dairy free / soy free options for donuts?

LOTS of dairy free/vegan donuts. Unfortunately all donuts contain soy oil though.

That employee also completely ignored me, despite the fact that I was clearly standing there waiting to be helped. I was there to pick up a DoorDash order for someone else, but based on the way I was treated, I can guarantee you I will not be choosing to spend my own money at this establishment. I ultimately had to ask another customer who was standing in line if they knew where to pick up a DoorDash order. The entire experience was incredibly dismissive and unprofessional. A simple acknowledgment or, at the very least, "We'll be with you in a moment" would have made a huge difference.

The ambiance was clean and orderly. Upon entering, you grab a serving tray lined with parchment and some tongs. The items are in a glass enclosed display that you have to open and place your selections on your tray for purchase. I settled on the pistachio cream filled pecan pastry, the almond twist, and strawberry shortcake. The beverage menu was extensive: matcha, flavored teas, cocoa, espresso/coffee, and more. We were greeted by pleasant staff at checkout and our orders placed in a parchment type bag for take out. They also have seating inside. The pastries were just sweet enough without being overly sweet, which I like. The pistachio cream was a perfect compliment to the pecan encrusted pastry. The almond twist was both flaky and crunchy with the sliced almonds on top, and the strawberry shortcake had layers of real strawberries, whipped topping and yellow cake that was moist. All were fresh. All in all, a great place to stop by for a morning pastry treat and tea/coffee while in the area,

It was busy and I grabbed one of the last two tables. It got very busy shortly after we placed our orders. The dining area is pretty big with plenty of bar seating around the windows. While we all ordered one after the other, our food didn't come out that way. Most of the food came out in about 25-30 minutes. The chicken was cooked perfectly. Juicy! Two people got tenders and three of us got sandwiches. The OG sandwich was very good, just messy! I ended up using a fork and knife bc it got too messy. The Mac and cheese was made with pimento cheese and was very good. My friend who got the fried green tomatoes said they were delicious and filling. Lots of goodies on top. Two friends enjoyed the collards. The only person who was underwhelmed was the person who got the Asian sandwich. Overall, if I wanted a good chicken sandwich and a Buttermilk and Honey was nearby, I'd place an order.

I was a bit disappointed that they only offer whole or oat milk, as I was used to having more milk options (like low fat or nonfat). I can't drink whole milk and I'm not a big fan of oat milk. The barista recommended that I try the oat milk and said if I didn't like the drink, they would make me something else. I asked for light oak milk and hoped for the best. My latte was served in layers, so I got a big blast of oat milk in my first sip, but after I mixed my latte, it tasted so much better. The coconut flavor really came through and offset the oat milk flavor. I was really happy with my drink and with the super helpful barista. I'll for sure be coming back!

Seating is kind of limited, but luckily we were able to snag a table. I had fun checking out all the different book sections, but the banned book area was definitely the coolest part to me. I thought it was awesome that they give people the chance to explore those books so openly. I only got a cold brew, and it was okay. I wasn't a fan of their ice just cuz the shape just melts quicker and makes your drink watery fast. Aside from that, the service was really great. Everyone was super friendly and happy to help.
