I came here with family for a Friday afternoon late lunch at about 2 PM. I'm from the area and came a sparse number of times. Parking: Difficult to find. Sugar Rush is in the middle of an industrial area with offices and warehouses. There are a few spots in front of the restaurant only, with other parking on the side of the plaza. Service: Upon walking in, we were immediately given a table and menus to get started. We took time to decide what to order and they did not show any impatience. However, unlike typical restaurant etiquette, they hastily took away our dishes and did not check up on us. When we were finished eating, they took our dishes without asking. We didn't need the dishes anymore (as we were finished) but it would've been better if they had asked. Food: Food was subpar. It is your typical mom and pop breakfast stop with a satiating menu. Prices? Not so good. For the amount of food we had received, portions were small. Comparable to an American chain restaurant (ie. Denny's) for nearly the same prices, the positions here are stingy. I ordered an Iced Mocha and although it was not the best, it was not good either. The coffee itself was still lukewarm in the cup and for being and "Iced" drink, failed to meet my expectations. If you can, I would avoid their coffee as my expectations have not improved compared to the other times I've been to Sugar Rush. The steak sandwich was stellar. The meat was cooked to perfection and with the medley of ciabatta, onions, and savory sauces. I ordered a side of fries and they were decadent, fresh, and crispy. For an additional up charge, I had the option to upgrade to either cajun fries or sweet potato fries. Overall: I would not purposely go out of my wait to eat here. There are better options locally like Aroma Craft Coffee with similar prices and much better food. Parking lot is small and spots are difficult to find. Food is hit or miss. Never knew this place existed here in a predominantly office, warehouses, business row of valley blvd, but the owner said 10yrs here now. Glad we tried, just the organic coffee , tea and sesame smoothie!! available here will have us going back and the owner was pretty nice too. We all had mostly breakfast from the menu and it was good hash browns and pancakes. Enjoyed the waffle as well as the breakfast burrito. My albacore sandwich had a great butter lettuce instead of just a plain regular lettuce. Would love to try other things in their menu for sure as this place is neatly tucked in its own corner with a great ambiance among all the warehouses surrounding it. Place is owned locally by Asian couple so it's good to know smoothies with boba are available in their menu. That's a hit for any school aged kids for sure while the adults can enjoy organic pour over coffee and loose leaves tea!! read more

Just finished having lunch at this awesome restaurant. I have no idea how this place wasn't jam packed when we were there. Although the prices have gone up they are still very competitive compared to what's out there. Especially when you consider the quality of the food and service. Cute little spot tucked away in an industrial business area. It's in the back corner. Not a lot of parking. Doesn't really seem like a good spot for it. I feel it would do better in a busier spot. She loved it cuz there's was nothing left on her plate lol. My food was a good portion. I took my other half of sandwhich to work. It was a little bland, but I added a little ranch to it. Wow! OK, I'm going to give you the benefit of the doubt because I came in at lunchtime. But after being handed the menu and left at my table for over 12 minutes (yes, I timed it) I started to make eye contact with the older female owner. She opened her eyes brightly and smiled and nodded her head up and down as if to say are you ready? And I smiled back at her and slowly knotted yes enthusiastically. Sometime goes by..she comes to the table right next to me, collects their dishes, ask them how their food was And leaves. That table leaves the restaurant. she comes BACK a second time to wipe down the table, still not acknowledging me or making eye contact.?? Then the elderly man comes over and he says yes yes yes how can I help you! and I said wow I had to wait a long time :( he then very angrily tells me "Well lot of people, you're the last person to come in! " what the hell does that matter? Somebody could have at least taken my drink order... I could've been sipping on a drink while I waited for someone to take my order? We found this local restaurant after we moved in the area. We love all their breakfast items here and it never disappoint. We really enjoy their omelet and toast. The way they serve their coffee is pretty unique too. The waitress and waiters are very nice but there were language barrier for those who did not speak Chinese, but they recently hire someone who can speak English fluently. read more

I used to drive by this little cafe located in a business center when I used to work in Pomona. I finally decided to give it a try last Saturday. The place is small only 10 tables but you don't feel cramped. Probably one of the best pancake breakfast I have had in a long time. The service was great very attentive. In a business shipping and storage area. So the location might seem off. Service. They look like a family who is running the restaurant. The older lady kind of forced you to order, but indirectly. The older gentleman is way nicer and he brings out all the food anyways. It's pricey, and decent food. The portions are decent but you can also get the same amount of food in other locations for nearly the same price or a tad cheaper. It is one of the better stores out here in walnut for breakfast though. Small but nearly never have to wait. I've been here plenty of times but I don't think I ever seen a wait. Can you study in the cafe. Not really. This could be a good regular spot for breakfast and coffee at a reasonable price; but it's not. The Sugar Rush Cafe is located in an industrial complex on the border of Pomona and Walnut. It seemed like it would be a standard breakfast/coffee re-charge your batteries from the night before place, but the average food and coffee was way overpriced. The coffee is $3.50 per cup and not refillable. The built up coffee descriptions are lengthly and describe a potential exotic experience. When asked if they had regular refillable coffee, the answer was no. Thus, I ordered the El Diablo dark roast, and it tasted like regular coffee to me. We ordered the breakfast wrap with hash browns and a roast beef sandwich with mushroom soup. The breakfast wrap came with eggs, bacon, and ham, and was $10.25. The price of the breakfast wrap could not be justified. The roast beef sandwich was small, very good, but including the $1.50 up charge to have it served hot, the cost was $10.25. The Sugar Rush Cafe serves basic breakfast and lunch items at a premium. At their prices, I would just stay home and make my own breakfast wrap. read more

Met a few friends here for breakfast. None of us had been here before and our friend chose it because it was centrally located for all of us. It's located in a semi-industrial area. As we got closer, we wondered "where is this place?" As we pulled up to it, we wondered "is this the right place?" Inside, it's fairly small and seats probably a couple dozen people. Because it is small, we were handed menus as soon as we were seated and the server came back just a couple of minutes later to take our order but we weren't ready. I'm not really a breakfast person but the entire breakfast and lunch items are available during breakfast. However, I was tempted by the Coconut French Waffle so I got that. Yum! It was really good. And the craft coffee here was brewed and poured from individual carafes into your cup (so no free refills). I had the Intelligentsia French Roast and was impressed. I had a bite of the croissant breakfast sandwich and that was quite good too. For such a small, out of the way place, it definitely exceeded expectations! read more

I can't say enough about how much I LOVE this cafe!!! It's a family, breakfast favorite. And the pour over coffee is out of this world. I always get the Librarian. Ray's Favorite is mine as well! The scrambled eggs are THE BEST I've EVER had. The chef is a master. Sausage is savory and scrumptious. The pancakes are so good you don't need syrup or butter. But, of course, I use both! I've had lunch here a few times and it's also AMAZING!! The BLT and Club are faves! And if you're looking for a smoothie, their's are the BEST in town! The Cookies and Cream is a favorite. My boyfriend and I came in about an hour before close today. We ordered two smoothies and two meals, nothing crazy. After we got our food and my smoothie, another couple came in just asking for coffee. They talked to the (I'm guessing here) owner and sat down after giving their order. Meanwhile, my boyfriend and I are still waiting for his drink. The employee started making drinks again, and I thought they were working on it. Noooooooope. To our surprise, he made two smoothies for the couple that came in, delivered them, and paid before my boyfriend's drink was even started. I'd understand if the restaurant were busy, but we were the only two pairs inside...my boyfriend is black, by the way. I won't assume race is the issue, but the other couple was of the same ethnicity as the owner and spoke the same language, so it seems pretty likely. We visited this place for the first time, initially unsure if we wanted to dine in or take our order to go. When we walked in and saw how small and close quarters the place was, we hesitated but decided to sit down with hopes of a good dining experience. Unfortunately, it seemed like the owners were suspicious of us from the start, which was disheartening. We had already checked the menu before arriving, so we quickly placed our order. The server asked about drinks, and I declined politely. However, she seemed put off, and after taking our order, she stared at me from the nearby register, which was uncomfortable. What truly made us leave was when a man suddenly appeared, standing near the door arms crossed, almost like a bouncer, after our order was taken. This was unsettling and made us wonder if we were going to be watched throughout our meal. It was actually unbelievable. We decided to switch to a to-go order, and surprisingly, the man moved away from the door once we did pay. Nearly $30 for a greasy mediocre breakfast in a melting styrofoam box. Our experience left us feeling unwelcome and uncomfortable. Y'all honestly did not deserve our money but I was not gonna leave giving y'all the satisfaction of feeling righteous for this prejudice behavior. Y'all were so wrong for this. We didn't wanna stay there any longer than the 10 minutes it took them to bring the food out, with no desire to return. Only type of rush you get from here is the need to rush out of there. If you're looking for a better dining experience, there's a Denny's up the street where you can enjoy your meal without feeling racially profiled. So yummy and fast service! I went with my toddler. The kids meal is actually huge, so we took food to go which was so nice.

In the past month or so, we have eaten breakfast here three times. We've had a mix of pancakes, bacon, hashbrowns, eggs (over easy), and toast. We usually get a mix of the Two egg breakfast $10.50 and stack of pancakes (3) $7.00 or the pancake sandwich $10.50 and a side order of hashbrowns $3.50. The food has been excellent and consistent all three times we have eaten at Sugar Rush. There hasn't been much of a wait the times we have gone cause we usually go around 11:30am or 12 noon. The restaurant isn't big and seats around 40 people (my guess). The service is friendly and attentive. It's a mom and pop restaurant and located in an industrial part of Walnut. Three omelette breakfast... sausage mushrooms and a slice of Swiss cheese on top Raisin French toast (sugar rush) ... with candied bananas and strawberries with syrup added in. Wished they put it on the side. Two egg breakfast. Wished hash browns were crispy. Too soggy on the middle. Overall, everything ok. Coffee was ok. Location is a bit random because it's all industrialized, but you have a small shop here. $ - decent priced read more
