Such a good find in the local area. Had the chorizo plate and iced Mexican mocha. The homemade tortillas that came with the dish were amazing I would eat them just by themselves.

It's more of a 4.5 and I'm glad I heard about this place. The zapata latte cacahuate is what I came for and it was delicious! Also tried the Mexican mocha, which is rich and delish, too - but the zapata took the lead for drinks. Also tried the Azteca bowl (with cactus). As the server said, the cactus is more of a vehicle for the other flavors, but I enjoyed the freshness and taste of the potatoes and other items with it. It's better with salsa, though - green is my preference. The jalapeno in the burrito we ordered had a nice kick to it, and again with green salsa, was tasty. My daughter said the French toast and eggs was good, too. Really nice, spacious place with natural lighting - good for a breakfast/lunch vibe. The service was super friendly and on spot. I'll be taking friends and family here in the near future.

S&J serves Mexican type breakfast and brunch items. It's a nice change from a typical American type breakfast. Besides their food, their drinks are well made too. Had the Zapata Latte and it was delish. Our table ordered a variety of food dishes and each one was well made and delicious. They have a vast selection of items, so I'm sure there's something for everyone. The restaurant has a good amount of tables inside and a few outside. Nice environment to chill and enjoy a meal. The servers here and very friendly and service oriented. Come check it out!

Never knew about S&J Gran Cafe but they open at 5am (no one opens at 5am AND offers a killer breakfast burrito). Restaurant is very clean and definitely will be back for a dine in meal. Good job S&J

Came here after a round of golf. My buddies like this place but I have to agree with other reviewers that the prices are high and the portions are small. I had the Machaca con huevos and it was okay. You get a small plate and a cup of refried beans in a cup and 2 corn tortillas-all for $20. Service was good but the price-value is not there. Plus they charged $5 bucks for 2 additional tortillas-serious overcharge. Ambiance is okay but I don't see myself coming back.

I have seen plenty of people from the Diamond Bar group posting about this Cafe named S & J so I had already bookmarked it to try out for later on. Finally during a free morning decided to give this place a try. The server was super friendly and nice. We asked her what are some of people's favorite items and she suggests to get the chilaquiles I got it with chicken and added avocado. Food came out quickly within 10 minutes or so with freshly scrambled eggs, deep fried goodness on this plate. She noticed I started adding Tapatio and gave me some spicy sauce that was perfect for the meal. I also got to try their Zapata Latte Cacahuate which has some crushed peanuts on the bottom. Overall I enjoyed my meal and the friendly service.

Let's start with the DELICIOUS Freshly squeezed orange juice! And the service on point!

I rarely ever dole out 1 star reviews and I want to do everything that I can to prevent myself in order from doing so, but after ordering take out here and receiving one of the absolute worst bouts of food poisoning in my life (hey, I at least lost 10 lbs), I just had to do it. My brother and I wanted to order some late breakfast/brunch for take out. We got the iced Mexican mocha (honestly tasted a bit too bitter and had a really grainy sandy texture even after mixing it), their standard waffle breakfast meal that comes with 2 eggs (my brother got over medium) and bacon, and their eggs benedict with potatoes. The benedict looked really sus already when we opened the take out container, but since I was hungry and we were already home without any other food, I just dove into eating it. The spinach was wilted, the eggs were room temperature (this was RIGHT after we took the food home and we don't live to far away), and the Hollandaise sauce had a slightly overly ripe sour cream taste to it. The biscuit was already soggy and it was just a chore to eat this so I barely was ble to completely finish eating 1 piece and had to toss away the other. Now if that was the case with this meal, I would have just relented and given this place 2 stars and maybe I just ordered something wrong off of the menu or if it was an off day, but later on that day I started feeling feverish and ill. There was nothing else that I had eaten since the day before and my brother didn't get sick either (he didn't touch the eggs benny). Once it was evening/night, I had the WORST food poisoning of my life, easily one of the top 3 vomiting sessions ever. I just threw up until there was nothing in my system, I was gagging out bile and saliva, throwing up water, Gatorade, Peptol Bismol and literally everything else that was in my system. It winded me pretty badly that I had to take the next day off of work and then the day afterwards too since I was only becoming okay with drinking liquids (yes it was that bad). I don't think I'll even eat eggs benny again after this experience it was that traumataizing and I still can't explain what could have gone wrong that made me so ill, but never again I can say that for sure.

Today was my second time here and this review is more for me than anything. I need to remember what I had and what to get next time. The first time I got the Chapin plate for breakfast. It was unusual with a wedge of cheese, some black beans and a fried plantain. Really good. This time I got their Gran burrito. It was dense with meat, potatoes, cheese, and egg and beans but I would not order it again. It's advertised as containing a spicy sauce but there was none inside and it was very dry and overcooked. All the ingredients were overcooked and seemed like leftovers. It also didn't come with a salsa on the side. So reminder to my future self: don't get the burrito; get one of their Oaxacan breakfast plates or maybe try the chilaquiles.

First time visiting here because my friend recommended.. it's located in front of big parking lot. Came here for breakfast and food was ok like I usually order egg Benedict which was not all that special and our server was in training so things was little slow.. but I did try their special kind on green juice which was fresh and felt healthy which I would like to go back to try again.. the ambiance was clean and well organized

I took my mom here for a Mother's Day brunch and my birthday celebration because it falls around…read morethe same time every year. I am so glad we chose Hide Out Cafe in Rowland Heights to have our celebration. The food is delicious, the staff is so friendly, and the cafe is so cozy and welcoming. My brother was sponsoring our meal since he couldn't make it, so of course we had to go all out and order two drinks and two main dishes. (Thank you, big brother)! I got the Boba Bear Set $8.50, which comes with a drink and two house-made cookies, and my mom got their Tiramisu Latte $7.00, which is heavy on the coffee liquor, to be honest, but we had fun with it. The drinks are crafted beautifully, and with the open cafe concept, you can see they pay attention to the small details of their crafted drink menu. The house-made cookies that were a part of my Boba Bear Set are not to be forgotten. The cookies are buttery, decadent, and delicious; they are the perfect tea cookies to pair with! I can't wait to go back and try more of their fun drinks and maybe bring a study book the next time. For our main dishes, we shared the Chimi Wagyu & Frites $35.00, and the Fresh Avocado Toast $19.00. We both love eggs so of course we had to get something with eggs in our dish. My mom loved her avocado toast, and they were very generous with the avocado as well on there. The salad is a definite hit with us and included a great dressing on the side. The eggs were cooked perfectly on top of our toast and steak. The frites with my steak were crispy and seasoned well. I also loved the chimi sauce with my steak as well. The portion was huge so we were able to take some back home to enjoy another day. Overall, my mom and I had a great experience and would absolutely come back for another sip of their lattes and try another fun drink on their menu. We left with happy smiles and full stomachs, and can't wait to come back soon.

It's a brown sugar milk tea with caramel foam with a floating frozen milk tea bear. ADORABLE!! The set even includes two house-made cookies. WOW! TASTY!! (Important: Cash is not accepted. Bring card or contactless payment.) I arrived at Hide Out Cafe (Rowland Heights) on Wednesday (around 10:21AM). Parking is very easy. The lot is big. However, Hide Out Cafe (Rowland Heights) is very hidden. It has no visibility from the street! Staff is very professional and welcoming. Staff politely and cheerfully answered all my questions. Staff is very knowledgeable and accommodating. For example, the location does not have a paper menu; all the menus are accessed via QR Code. Fortunately, Staff let me borrow their iPad which allowed me to see the menu on a larger screen. When I'd arrived, Staff asked if I was dine-in or to-go. I was immediately seated. When I'd inquired about the boba. Staff honestly told me that they needed 15 additional minutes to prepare the boba. I brightly waited. All in all, after the 15 minute wait, the drink took an additional 10 minutes before being ready. As mentioned, I ordered the Boba Bear Set ($8.50). CUTE!!! It's a very aesthetic and memorable presentation. The boba pearls came perfect; they're bouncy, perky, and playful. The brown sugar milk tea mixed with the caramel foam tasted honey-like. It's very TASTY! My biggest nitpick is that the amount felt tiny. Still, it's a wonderful memory that I'm so happy to experience! On ambiance, Hide Out Cafe (Rowland Heights) is comfortable and clean. There's about 13 interior tables, and there's six patio tables. The music is slow-tempo, and the tall ceiling made it feel spacious. In addition, Hide Out Cafe (Rowland Heights) has utility. There's customer internet with password; details are available on the QR code menu. There's also about four electrical outlets. I also appreciated the self-service water station. There's also a gender neutral restroom in the back. Hide Out Cafe (Rowland Heights) felt very hidden yet well-maintained. It's a lovely spot. Overall, I had a magical, memorable experience. I discovered AMAZING milk tea and many precious memories. If searching for someplace special, I happily recommend. 4.9 out of 5

There were plenty of parking as it's in a shared plaza. For the store, it's a moderate size but it was definitely busy at the time we went. For ordering, you'll need to order at the counter before sitting down. After browsing the menu, we decided on the pink vodka pasta and the rich miso pasta (Taiwanese sausage added). American Express is accepted as a payment option. The staff gave us a number to place on the table we sat at but we were free to grab any seat we liked. For seating, there were a few tables for parties of two and limited tables for bigger groups. Keep in mind if you need water or extra napkins, they'll have those near the bar seating. Both the Pink Vodka Pasta and Rich Miso Pasta exceeded our expectations! The miso pasta leans on the creamy side but pairs very well with the pink vodka pasta. The miso pasta didn't come with any protein by default, so we were glad that we added the Taiwanese sausage. Fun fact is that the meatball from the Pink Vodka Pasta is vegan! The portion size was super generous from both dishes and was beyond just two people. I wasn't expecting to discover pasta dishes that I'd consider as one of my favorites from this visit! I'll definitely come back to try other dishes.

Great food, front-of-house needs a bit of work…read more.. We made reservations for Mother's Day brunch a week ahead and thankfully we did as they had booked up at least 1 or 2 days before. Parking is super easy as it's in a plaza and shares a big lot with other businesses. They had a special menu, so I'm not too sure what is and is not part of their usual menu, but this is what we ordered: 1. Baltimore Crab Cakes (comes with 2): we were pleasantly surprised as it came with a side salad; the crab cakes themselves were not dry at all and came with a good amount of crab. Delicious, 5/5 2. Heirloom tomato and stone fruit salad: one of the things they pride themselves on is sourcing their ingredients locally and sustainably. You can really tell with this dish that all of their ingredients are really high-quality and fresh. The stonefruit was super sweet. The price ($18) was a bit high for the portion size, so this was a 4/5 for us. 3. Crab & tonnarelli: really good cook on the pasta; my husband is really picky on pasta that's overcooked, but this came to us perfectly al dente. There was a good amount of crab as well, so we appreciated that they didn't skimp. That said, the taste was a bit one-toned and underseasoned, which is a lot coming from us since we typically complain about food being too salty. If it came with a bit more salt, it would've been one of our favorites. 3.5 (maybe 4)/5 4. Pork sisig and garlic rice: we love sisig, so we had to order it. While it was super flavorful and delicious, we couldn't finish it on the spot since it was pretty salty and we were getting full. We did take it home and cook some more vegetables into it to dilute the salt a bit. 4/5 5. Ricotta cheese pancakes: super fluffy and airy, you can tell why they need 20 minutes to prep them. Again, the fruit they used was super fresh and sweet. Loved, no notes. 5/5 Service-wise, there were some hiccups with our orders. Our salad came to us without the burrata and when we asked them about it, it took about 3-4 people double-checking their menu to confirm it actually came with burrata, then a handful more minutes to rectify it. It seemed strange to me that they were unfamiliar with their own menu. Our pork sisig dish came out much later than every other dish and our waiter had to check up on it a few times, so it may have just gotten missed. There seemed to be a lot of people working in the front, but somehow hard to flag them down and get helped when we needed it. I'll give them the benefit of the doubt as it was Mother's Day and I'm sure it was busier than usual. Our waiter was also gracious in comping a drink as a result of the long wait for the sisig. Overall, we'll still come back as we want to try other dishes and we do appreciate the freshness of the ingredients and their integration of vegetables with dishes, which can sometimes be hard to come by. Just wanted to provide some feedback on service in hopes they'll take it constructively.

Instead we ordered a seafood crispy noodle dish, chicken wings, and char siu pork, duck, and pork belly dishes to satisfy our Asian food cravings. Overall, service was good, portions were decent, and pricing was on par with the rate of inflation. We got takeaway and enjoyed our leftovers for dinner. Would come back still for canto comfort food cravings.
