Biscuits and gravy. Waffle with blueberries.

Visited on a random Tuesday morning at 10 am. Disinterested waitress. Slow service. No ambiance when we got here. No music playing at first. Forgot part of our order. Food was basic. The biscuit was good. The waffle was limp. It looked like a slightly warmed up eggo waffle. Watered down soda.

Cinnamon Roll Stack

Wound up here by accident but grateful for the change of plans. Several reviews mention the wait time and it may have been a little longer than one might like but the food was great, as was the service. We were hungry and over ordered. The biscuit board was a treat! The biscuits were delicious and seemed truly scratch made. Husband had the cinnamon roll stack AND French toast. It was a lot of food! He loved the cinnamon rolls and said French toast was good but rolls were better. We did leave with leftovers. I saw lots of grits being ordered and will try those next time. Worth a try. Be patient. The workers appear to be doing their bests.

Came to visit from Chicago and found this spot on Yelp! We arrived on Sunday morning about 10a and had no wait. Place looked ok and was clean. Ordered a few dishes and drinks. I only have it 3 stars because the food lacked flavor. The customer service was great! The male waiter was very nice and helpful. If I choose to go again I'll definitely make sure I order the cheese grits instead of the plain.

Stopped in to grab a bite. We waited 10-15 minutes, along with 2 other groups, to be seated. It was not crowded, but there was only one server. We weren't in a hurry, so it wasn't enough to make us leave as we really wanted to try the food. Once seated, we waited another 10 minutes just to get water. Our server was really nice and showed no signs of frustration or being overwhelmed, so this was a plus. I actually felt sorry for him. I ordered catfish and fries, and it arrived hot. The fish was good but could have stood to be a little more seasoned (personal preference). The fries were good, but I didn't really eat them because I like ranch dressing with my fries. The ranch was very thin and watery and was not tasty. I asked the server why it was this way and he said it was a house dressing. It wasn't a terrible experience, and I would be willing to give them another chance and perhaps try another dish that doesn't require ranch dressing.

Just Peachy

Everything was amazing. Started with the praline beignets. Then I got the Charleston cheddar (shrimp and grits). Amazing! My sister got the fish and grits which was also delicious. We both got the Just Peachy for our cocktails which was refreshing. Highly recommend!

Decided to stop by for an early Sunday breakfast. Was told it was a 20 min wait but got sat in about 10. Our server was new but she was really sweet. The menu had some good options. We decided to get the biscuits and gravy , omelette and chicken fried steak. Everything was good but we could've had more gravy on the biscuits and gravy and the chicken fried steak. The biscuits were reallly good. Very tasty and overall a good experience.

Bloody Mary was great. Breakfast bowl was mild in flavors. I usually think food is too salty but i had to add salt and pepper just to elevate the flavors. Overall good... next time will try something else on the menu.

Came here before a GRIZZLIES game on a Monday evening. Ordered the grits with shrimp and andouille sausage. Every bite was scrumptious.

If you don't like the food and complain, they will tell you not to come back. Even if you are a frequent customer.

We ordered 3 cocktails: Espresso Martini, Bloody Mary, and a Poinsettia. The cranberry juice wasn't available for the poinsettia and they didn't have seltzers, so my friend settled on a Prosecco. I was advised that the Bloody Mary would come with bacon. In the interim, we enjoyed munching on their signature popcorn. However, when it arrived (20 minutes later), it did not have it. I asked the server about it and the bartender quickly rectified the situation and added 3 green olives. My friend that ordered the prosecco thought it was fine. However, the friend that ordered the espresso martini was shocked by the presentation. First it was creamy white in color and the flavor was not quite right. It had an odd twang and not at all reminiscent of a typical espresso martini. My friends ordered the breakfast Mexican pizza and were pleased overall. I ordered the huevos rancheros breakfast hash and it was perfectly portioned and seasoned. Not too spicy and just the right amount of flair. Overall, the food was good, atmosphere was good, service was good, but the drinks were a bit tricky. ***I saved this over my review from over 5 years ago and it looks like we had a tricky time then too

The food however was honestly meh (in my opinion). I got a creole dish and to be fair my dish looked beautiful. The plating was 10/10 but the taste for me left something to be desired. After eating this dish I questioned if I even like creole sauce because it really just wasn't that good. If this is a preference issue, I honestly don't know. I also thought the charcuterie appetizer had a weird mix of items on it from club crackers, to meat and cheese, and random veggies. Not bad but just kind of a weird mix. My husband ordered the salmon and he said it was good, not the best he's had but it was good. Other friends of ours got the white fish among the many other dishes. I did have a salad with these apples on it which was incredibly yummy. I will say though my dish looked amazing some of the other dishes were not plated well. Not to nitpick but to want to be considered a more upscale restaurant which means charging guest more money than say a local Applebee's then knowing how to appropriately garnish or drizzle sauce to elevate at plate is important (see my picture of the chicken dish). All and all not my favorite restaurant but definitely not the worst!!

We had a nice little meal here at this casual spot right along the western edge of Beale Street…read more Since we visited on a weekend evening, they had the whole road blocked off, so you had to enter from the north or west side to avoid entering the walkable area which requires you to pay a $5 entry. This entire restaurant is built on a slight slope, and they did not level the foundation when building out the restaurant, so if you're sitting at your table and the table is aligned north to south, you will see a slight lean to the flooring. Also, if you have any juices on your plate of food, the juices will flow toward Beale Street. I wanted to try their tamales but will have to do it on a subsequent visit. This visit we ordered the bowl of gumbo and the Memphis strip steak which is pre-cut for you. The gumbo is slightly salty but good. The strip steak was really good, filling and cooked to order. I chose new potatoes as my one side. Service here can be a little difficult depending how busy they are and how wild your fellow patrons in the restaurant can be. It took a long time to pay the bill here due to a large party coming in right when we were wanting to pay and our server was attending to them for about 15 mins while we were trying to flag him down. Other than that, we had no other problems. I would happily return the next time I'm in the downtown area and looking for food near Beale Street.

The food is extremely tasty (and high quality) and the staff are so friendly and helpful. The owner, Shawn, is nothing short of a gem. He's friendly, has intelligence, wit, and integrity. I really messed up by not taking pictures on this one. I've had the burgers (phenomenal, regular and smash burger style) before. This time I tried the brunch menu and had, to name a few: *Poutine *French Canadian Toast *Maple Sunrise Sandwhich *Boozy Fried Bread Pudding *Eggs Benedict All of these were delicious. Small detail, but the crispy breakfast potatoes are perfect- soft on the inside and with this immaculate crisp on the outside. Next time I will certainly be getting the Waffle Monte Cristo. I love waffles.. I love Monte Cristo sandwiches.. seems like an ideal combo. A few friends and I have been in a few times now and this past trip he took us around the city. Again, I cannot say enough incredible things about he and his restaurant. Kooky even has food challenges: a 7 lb burger, a two-person 15 lb burger, and a four-person massive 25 lb burger! I've done the 25 lber and they were able to cook that burger so perfectly! Most places would undoubtedly have had the middle undercooked. Side note: Shawn has also won the "Tennessee Restaurateur of the Year" award. Yeah, he's legit. Go here. Do it. Do not deprive yourself from greatness.
