Our plan was to visit the attached sandwich shop, The Hive, and we ended up walking into bakery side first. This was a happy accident and we circled back around to end our meal with some dessert. All the treats looked amazing!!! They had a great variety to choose from and also do custom cakes. Got the hot cocoa and chocolate chip cookie during this visit and both were delicious!!! The space itself was very nicely decorated and had such a cute and warm vibe. The staff were welcoming and sweet. Can't wait to return and try more treats. Sugar Bee is a sweet little bakery in the Arlington area. They share a building with a sandwich shop, both with their own halves of the building, so I intend on trying Hive sometime soon. We had gotten to Cidercade with some time to kill before they opened, because we had come straight from my youngest kiddos award ceremony at school and was able to check him out early from school. I hadn't eaten breakfast so swinging over to Sugar Bee was an awesome choice. I got a cheesy garlic scone which was amazing, I will for sure come back for that. My kiddo got a red velvet cupcake as an end of school treat. (I promise he had breakfast before school!) We got a cake ball for my husband who ended up letting us try as well. My kiddo and I shared a hot chocolate which was also really good! I will be trying out some of the expresso and coffee options next time we swing by here. Can I leave a second review or do I have to update my original one from three years ago? Oh well going to try this. Because look at the pictures of this peach amaretto cake at my bridal shower! It's ridiculously gorgeous AND 3 different guests said the cake was amazing and asked to take any extra home. So naturally I had to fight them off because NOONE makes a peach amaretto cake around here and if they do, it's not like this. I absolute adore this bakery. But I was disappointed when my wife and I went in recently. We ordered our wedding cake from here in June and it was absolutely perfect so anytime we are in Arlington I want to stop in because everything I have had here is delicious. However I was utterly shocked that this was the size of the slice of pie we were served last week for $5. It was enough for my wife and I to have two bites each. I am all for supporting local businesses and I understand cost that goes into everything but this definitely made me question whether I will buy from them again which makes me sad because they have the best cake I have tasted since living in DFW. After picking up my order from the hive, I explored the bakery. There are so many baked good to choose from, the lady serving me MaryBeth gave some suggestions which I appreciated. I had their chocolate chip cookie which was big and delicious. I also tried their white chocolate raspberry cookie which wasn't overly sweet like she mentioned. Met a friend here for lunch today at the Hive and went over to the bakery side to grab some cupcakes and a cinnamon roll to bring home. It smells delightful in there, and it looks like they make some beautiful custom cakes for weddings or birthdays or whatever too. They also have coffee drinks on that side. The staff was super friendly as well. I had the lemon cupcake with blueberry icing and it was amazing with a little bit of blueberry in the top of the lemon cake in addition to the blueberry icing. The lemon was not overwhelming flavor and the combo of the two was perfect. I got my husband the red velvet and he said the cake and icing were one of the better combos and taste he's had lately. This bakery is located right across the street from Cane Rosso. We happened to come by it by chance as we were early for our lunch date. So glad we did. Atmosphere: The first thing you notice upon entering is that absolutely stunning display of cakes. They are so beautiful and jaw-dropping that you just want to order an entire one just for a random celebration. Otherwise, the store is a cute and quaint spot that is brightly lit and clean. 1 Star Service: Since we had just stumbled in here, we had no idea what offerings they had to start with. I usually order my birthday cake from Cretia's but decided to check out other bakeries this year closer to home instead. I am so happy that I did! I returned weekly leading up to my birthday to try the different cupcakes to determine what flavor I wanted for my birthday cake. Lemon and vanilla were superb. The strawberry cupcake was good too but the strawberry cake has coconut and I'm not a fan of coconut. The wedding cake is what I decided I enjoyed the most. This is an almond flavored cake and it was so moist and pretty. The almond flavoring isn't too overwhelming. The staff were super helpful and nice each week when I went in to try the different cupcakes. The shop is nicely decorated with different styles of cakes. Just walk inside and you'll see what feels like hundreds of examples of cakes, from simple and chic, to adorable and colorful, to gorgeous and multi-tiered. There's a sign that says don't touch but I was totally tempted to! The bakery case is small but there's great variety. Mostly a bunch of beautiful cupcakes in different flavors, but you'll also find muffins, croissants, cookies, and more. Sometimes they have random gluten free options as well. Last I visited there was a rainbow array of darling macarons, which are traditionally gluten free and delicious. They also serve local coffee & a tea of the day. When that time had came, I was told that my week was fully booked. As someone who reached out more than a year in advance, I should I have been contacted at some point in time prior. It's 2022- shouldn't the inquiry form software update the business owners of request made months before the need date? We drove 3 hours round trip from our graduation party to this location because I was inspired by the website photos showing absolutely beautiful cakes. The cake was most important to me with the graduation party for my daughter. I thought there was a lot of creative people here who might be able to build a really beautiful cake. I paid the $300 sight unseen and of course they ask for a tip up front when you pay (which I never have done or seen...ever). So I threw in a %10 tip just because I didn't want them to do an absolutely horrible job. I had cash on hand when I picked up to give them a good tip if we liked the cake; I kept my cash. No one liked the cake. The cake aside from being very ugly was very dense inside. This was not a $300 cake. Unfortunately when you pay up front and TIP up front you are stuck. I feel they need too much guidance from pinterest pictures and they aren't as creative as I thought they would be and not as masterful at cake building as I had hoped. Looking back I have deep regrets but oh well. It provided me with some embarrassment at the party and something we might all laugh about later I hope. No one reading this review will agree this was a $300 cake. Probably the best cake you can find in all of Arlington. It is so soft and not dry at all (sorry but I can't use the word that most people would use to describe a not dry cake ). I ordered two small cakes, one for my sister and one for my brother in law. Their bdays are one day apart so the family was celebrating them together. I figured separate cakes were needed. I got a chocolate cake with chocolate fudge icing. And a birthday cake with vanilla buttercream. Both cakes were delicious, but my personal favorite it their chocolate cake. This bakery was a nice find during my trip to Arlington. I hardly go on this end of town and glad I found this nice gem! The first thing that hits you when you walk in is the aromas of the pastries. Smells so good. They have the place decorated nicely with displays of cakes they have done/can do. Looks like they do great cake decorating. On a side note they do have a diner associated with the bakery. Both close at 2pm I believe. The young lady working in the bakery portion was nIce and personable. We looked over their goodies. The display cases had various cupcakes, cookies and cake balls. They offered other items but those caught my eyes. The cake balls were good sized. As I had just finished eating a good lunch I only wanted cake balls. They had a variety of which I got Oreo, salted Carmel, white raspberry, toffee, and others. Yum-yum!!! They had some good looking cinnamon rolls too! They have been at this location for like 4 years! I recommend if you are in the area during their hours of operation that you do drop in and give them a try. Maybe next time I will try out their dining side. read more

This was right next door to where we had just eaten a late lunch so we decided to walk across the street and pick up some sweets to take home the weight stuff here is phenomenal they are patient and helpful they give great descriptions of the flavorings. It took us quite a while to decide, including a call to my daughter to find out what she wanted and they showed nothing but complete patience! When did up getting a dozen cake balls, a grandma's cookie, a red velvet cupcake and a slice of cherry cheesecake to take home. The cookie was so so good! Huge, soft, chewy and delicious. My daughter said her cupcake was flavorful and the frosting was perfect. Not overwhelmingly sweet. We were slightly disappointed in the cake balls none of them had a flavor that really stood out they all kind of just tasted like chocolate and cake it was hard to distinguish the difference between a toffee crunch cake ball and a Texas butter cake ball. I pick up cupcakes here for my wife and she loves them! Personally, the chocolate and the red velvet are my favorites. The people are always very nice to me and I appreciate all of their suggestions. Everything always looks beautiful and professional. My only complaint is about the cardboard cupcake holders and their boxes. Last time I spent $100 on cupcakes for a party and when I got home, 1/2 a dozen were not usable because the holders collapsed. I wish their box quality matched their cake quality. Today's tea was peach and hibiscus brew and was the perfect complement to my delicious almond croissant. Dusted in sliced almonds and powdered sugar, every bite was scrumptious! Tender and flakey layers make all of their croissants light and buttery. Not to be out-SWEETed, the red velvet and wedding cake cupcakes were freshly made and beautifully frosted. The cream cheese frosting on the Red Velvet is just bright enough to let us eat the whole cupcake! And, let me warn you, Sugar Bee Sweets has THE best buttercream frosting and it is perfect on the wedding cake cupcake. Yum! Though we did not select cakeballs today, the case was full of several perfect for parties! With so many choices, we always leave smiling big smiles! This bakery is in the heart of the revitalizing portion of Downton Arlington and you can tell the building was designed tastefully and aesthetically with wedding cakes, event planning and cake lovers in mind. I came here and got a few sweet treats after my lunch at the sandwich shop next door, The Hive. I left with two cupcakes and some cake pops/balls. The cupcakes look like homemade cupcakes rather than commercial looking ones and for a change weren't overly sweet or too heavy on the frosting - even my husband enjoyed them and he usually dislikes cupcakes for those reasons. Warning though the red velvet made my entire mouth including teeth red !! The cake balls were enjoyable too, I got a couple of different flavours and they were all nice. The shop is welcoming. The display of decorated "cakes" is like walking through an art gallery. You walk in and it smells like a bakery, I just float all the way the to the counter and goodies case. Every single time I have walked into the shop I have been greeted by employees who genuinely seem happy to be working at the bakery. They are always friendly and eager to help you make all the critical decisions of choosing between a cake slice or two cupcakes! Cupcake happy hour on Tuesday and Thursdays is so very dangerous but so very addictive. Buy one cupcake and get the second cupcake 1/2 price! My personal favorites either in cake form or cupcake form is the the coconut cake and the wedding cake. On the weeks when either of these items are being showcased you can bet that I will stop by at some point that week. And if the stars align just right they may be serving them both in the SAME week!
