Called here to order a cake for my wife's birthday, was told I would need to send the order in via email, so the cook could review it and have all the details, verified the email address twice then sent in the email and received no response. I called again was told the cook would get back to me, but they never did. Finally on the eve of my wife's birthday I rushed over on my lunch break and when I informed the lady at the register I'd never heard back regarding my order, all I got was an "oh I'm so sorry" with no further explanation. Don't expect to find a picture of a cake online and think that is what you will get. The flavor was good but the attention to detail was very lacking. A few people made comments about it looking like a horse not a dragon. 2 things that were in the picture weren't in the cake. My wife liked it, had she not I'd give it a 2 star. It wasn't a terrible experience but in the email I sent several pictures and specifically said tell me which one y'all can do the best job on, I got a quote for all 3 cakes I sent which to me means we can do them all. read more

I ordered a very elaborate baby shower cake for my baby shower. The owner did an amazing job and several people asked where we got the cake from based on the design! When we met with her for our trial/design ideas, we asked if she could tone down the sweetness level and she stated she could not. Well, at the shower, we noticed there was a lot of cake left over and we had plenty of different flavors and a top vegan layer for our guest to try. A wedding I recently attended commissioned The Cakery to make their wedding cake but there was a unique twist. Instead of a traditional bridal and groom's cakes, they had individual cup cakes. They had 4 flavors: vanilla, chocolate, carrot, and lemon. Regretfully, I didn't get to try the lemon but I did sample the other 3. And they were AMAZING. The best carrot cake I've ever had. My daughter and her fiancé did the mandatory cake testing tour a few months back and have chosen The Cakery for their wedding. Just to confirm their choice, we tried them for a birthday cake with a very custom design on top, and then another birthday cake, and then talked the owner into making her first gluten free cake after trying her gluten free cupcakes (DEEEEEELICIOUS). She does custom designs, tries new flavors, and makes really the best cakes ever. Custom cakes only - don't expect to run in and pick up a last minute "I forgot" cake - though they usually have fresh cupcakes at the counter. Pricing is what you would expect for delicious gourmet cakes and we now look for excuses to celebrate with cake. If you are gluten free you know that the cost of good gluten free flour will push up the price even more - but - when the cake is so good you can't even tell it is gluten free it is worth it! If you aren't gluten free, her regular cakes are beyond description good!!! Here is an example of how much she cares about the quality of her cake - she tells the bride and groom not to freeze the cake top for the one year anniversary (ever tasted your wedding cake after a year in the freezer?) she bakes them a new "top" just like their wedding cake for the anniversary. I attended a children's birthday party this weekend where the cake was supposed to be was the center of attention. While the Tinker Bell cake was beautifully designed I can't say the same for the taste. It was a huge let down to say the least. They spent a lot of time creating a beautiful design but the same effort isn't given to quality ingredients and taste. The vanilla cake was yellow instead of white and the chocolate cake was pasty. It also tasted like it had been previously frozen. Not one of the 30 guest, including 12 children, finished their cake. I was very disappointed in the taste especially after hearing the price of the cake. The host was devastated and embarrassed being that she had bragged on this cake for weeks prior to the event. I felt so sorry for her watching people throw the cake in the trash. read more

Ordered cupcakes for a child's birthday and they were horrible. More icing than cake and the cake was bland and dry. My daughter asked if the vanilla cupcake was cornbread. None of the kids ate more than half of the cupcake This was all extremely disappointing after paying way to much for two dozen cupcakes. read more

In 2011, we had a cake made here for my son's wedding. It was wonderful. But I didn't realize that the ownership had changed when I went to order a cake for my husband's retirement party to serve 40 guests. The design I picked out was great and they did a fairly good job of replicating it accept for a couple of areas on the cake were done in a sloppy way. The cake tasted terrible. It was stale. I noticed someone else in the comments below said they wondered if it was cornbread. It was stale like cornbread. The raspberry filling was literally like a heavy jelly. The fondant was too thick. It didn't need to be that thick for the design. It was an expensive cake and 2/3 of it went into the trash. So disappointing. read more
