We visited this club Saturday, June 16th. I called ahead; asking about packages & hours the club gets busy. They answered all my questions and mentioned there was free entry with passes on their website. Most clubs are in rather seedy areas - but Sugar 44 almost looks out of place nestled between a McDonalds and a Wells Fargo. This is a very small club; and the free parking is commensurate with that. We arrived at about 8:30, and parking was available; but when we left a couple hours later, it was a bit difficult to get out. We felt safe despite the poor lighting. The club entrance is on the side, under an awning. This is a walk-in, seat yourself scenario; there are no hosts or people to bring you in. As you go in, the bar will be in front of you with a few TVs above showing sporting events. The bar appears to have seating for about 12 people. To the right of the entrance is the curtained VIP dance area. The DJ is visible to the side of the bar and the main floor continues on to the left. The floor is a bit crowded due to the small size and amount of furniture. We estimated about 12 tables flanking the small stage; which itself had seating for maybe 10 patrons. There is a single small stage at Sugar 44 with a single pole; enough room for a single dancer to do a good show without having to cover a lot of ground. The music was reasonably diverse & we appreciate diversity in all things; including dancers and music. The bathrooms are clean and well-maintained. We enjoy meeting and getting to know the staff at the clubs. Our server, Savannah I believe, showed up right away. We liked her. She took good care of us. Soda was $5, drinks $9-10. They didn't offer any sort of "date night" packages or small group offerings so we just ran a tab. They do have bottle service for large groups, though. The drink quality overall seemed ok. We like a real diversity in club talent; variations of styles, body shapes and sizes -- we really enjoy getting to talk to them and get a sense of their personalities. There was a pretty small pool of dancers when we arrived (understandable - we were early). Better by the time we left. Overall, we found the diversity and "quality" of dancers overall to be "fair". Most ethnicities were represented and there was a good range of body types; large and small breasts, short and tall ... what we didn't see were more to the extreme sides; the "beach blondes" nor "pierced tattooed bad ass brunettes" The Gal loves so much. The "girl next door" was missing too. We love great pole work and Sugar 44 is above average. Several dancers were extremely energetic and performed very well. The dancers as a whole were "6s" and "7s" with a few exceptions. The club is low pressure for us as a couple. We were only approached once and she was friendly. We bought her a drink and chatted her up. I wouldn't call it "couples friendly" - regulars got a lot of attention. Not recommended for first-time couples. No VIP this visit, but we did get information to share with you. VIP requires a $20 "wrist band". These grant you access to VIP areas. The dancers will then give you private VIP for $25/song. The songs do not seem "unnaturally shortened" here. There are also "Champagne Rooms". One VIP area has a large privacy curtain and appears to be able to service 8-10 guests; each have a very small divider between them. I am not sure it would be comfortable for couples in there. I'm hoping the area behind the DJ offers something more couple friendly. There are table/floor dances available at $10. We'll update this review when we actually get VIP time. The club is ok for couples; perhaps with repeat visits we'll get more attention like the "regulars" seemed to get. We were treated well by staff and talent. We will most likely be back. read more

But my recent visit was not what I had seen in the past. 1st - I printed the free admission from the specials page on the website, only to find the current pass on the webpage expired 12/31/22. Despite telling the girl at the door that was what is on the website, she would not take it. 2nd - Was there for over an hour with money to spend and (beside the waitress) was pretty much ignored. I did a long review over a year ago but have gone to the club about every month or so since. Often with our "gang of 3" old guys that go together or with a younger guy we know. I am amazed at some reviews about gangster like or dirty. It is very clean, newly remodeled and never seen any issues with customers and very friendly staff. Obviously, the reviewers haven't been to other clubs like Bandaids etc with what seems more like the customers described by a few negative reviews. My only negative is sometimes getting bored not having dancers working the floor since they are looking for regulars or just chatting with themselves. I don't even drink other than if have to have my diet coke or Pepsi. One of the nice hostess gals knows I am there for lap dances and doesn't hassle me for drinks. I only do $ 10-floor dances but have had some great experiences and often times dancers enjoy just sitting and talking with you if they like you before or after dances. I have been going to clubs in Phoenix for over two decades, in fact, represented a club owner back in 1999 with the new law when the prior owner of Great Alaskan Bush started an owners association. Of all the many past and present clubs in my view, Sugar is among the most friendly and cleanest. Worked/danced here for roughly 2years wanted to give this place an honest review. To start off, the owner Ryan is a good man, he's frequently in his business and is very active, not a distant owner that nobody knows who owns the place. He will provide his dancers proof of income letters when you need to supply one for an apartment or home application due to being an independent contractor, he also offers the ability to be classified as either an employee or contractor (employees are hourly paid, dancers get nothing except payment received from their dances from clients) he gives you an option. Never had the option to pick in a club before so that was good. Next- The real problem here is the hostile bar manager who runs his establishment almost 99.9% of the time. she used to tend to be kind and fair to her workers but over the past year has made working there an uncomfortable environment. I dont like to bash anyone but yelling at your dancers in front of a client who comes in to pay for dances is extremely unproffesional. There is constant yelling and snarky remarks made to dancers, and doormen and dj's all night long- in front of clientele. For no reason. She belittles the dancers in front of people and likes to play favorites and fire girls over other girls who make up lies and havent been to that establishment in over a year. They (bar managers) will get angry at you if you have a regular job and cant sit around there for 5hours, but you (the dancer) pays THEM to work. As an entertainer/independent contractor you have to pay a fee to utilize the facilities. So you give them $25-40 a shift just to work and then you still get attitude if their clients choose not to spend money and you have another job to go to. Even if you are typically selling VIP all the time and have always been a consistent and good worker. The only exception seems to be Mackenzie she is quiet, kind, professional and treats people with respect. Not only that, but after half a decade in the industry of being taught by much older dancers who have no filter on them im quite desensitized. The dancers here at this club get weirdly attached and possessive over their clients and would rather flipout or cry and complain if you dance for the same guy instead of trying to tag team and double the money, or instead of just not caring and moving on to the next one because you're not supposed to get attached to stripclub clients it defeats the purpose. I could care less if my clients dance with someone else because im not insecure and in fact I see an opportunity to make more money by teaming up or letting another dancer have my left overs (just cracking a joke here) I'm always fairly nice to other women im just not soft and get my feelings hurt. So anyway girls get offended here if you beat them to someone instead of feeling secure in themselves that they know they will make money and can have anyone or can make twice as much. men come in these places to treat us like whores, but the dancers here get offended if you refer to a client as fat privately in the dressing room and make a joke to detach yourself from the shitty reality you are in of being molested for a living- well im sorry i was trained by strippers from the 80's and 90's who arent cry babies, this job is not meant for the weak minded so you arent in the right industry if you get your feelings hurt easily. But they hired a lot of sensitive young girls lately who are "woke" and transgender and way way way too into their feelings in the stripclub. Drinks are well priced, VIPS cheaper than most in the valley so that works well for both sides because the dancer can sell more and the clients can afford it more often. Bathrooms are always very clean, DJ's take music requests with no complaint and the dj's are professional as they rely off of the girls tipping them to make a living too so they tend to want to make work a good environment. Bouncers always walk you out, some clubs could care less if u get followed home but this one has policy about walking you out safely. Always felt safe coming and going here. Dressing room is a fair size well lit and plenty of lockers. Downside is many of their clients are cheap and think its just a bar to drink at and feel like they arent doing anything wrong coming into the club 3+ times a week spending no money on the girls because if they dont sit at the stage they dont feel obligated to spend money but its a stripclub and nobody is walking around naked for free, and then the managers get pissed when you get a regular job and dont wanna throw $40 down the drain to work everyday for the majority of their clients. pros- the business is strategically placed on a busy street next to plenty of food options and other businesses and banks. makes it convenient for both employees and clientele to run errands before or after or to grab food to eat. read more

An update! I've been back to Sugar 44 several times. Of all the bars I've patronized and worked at, this is my favorite. They appear to be actively hiring more of a variety of dancers; they're still friendly (even when I have to decline some up-close action) and hot, so yay on that score. I've never seen the staff be less than professional, nobody has tried to roofie me or frog-march me to the Wells ATM next door. They do have their own ATM on site, but the limit is ridiculously low ($200) and the fee is ridiculously high ($8), so bring your own cash. read more

I usually don't write reviews but after last nights experience I feel like I need to let everyone know. I went in with a few friends and were greeted immediately by the bouncer, we did not have to pay cover so far its starting off as a good night. Then we walked up to the bar and the bartender took care of us with our drinks and was very friendly. My friends went and sat down at one of the tables. I stayed and talked to the bartender (Brittany) for a bit and she made me feel very welcomed and recommended a few drinks. The dancers were all very friendly and gorgeous. After the second round of drinks Brittany had to go because her shift was over. :( I thought I was going to get the same kind of service from the new bartender (Tyler), but I was wrong. ...it was upon my cross-country journey from Atlanta to San Diego that I chanced across this club, purely by luck and coincidence. Originally that evening, I had gone to the Hi-Liter club - which was a mistake. The place was so packed you couldn't even find a seat. I left before the song playing was finished and set out for my next destination; thanks to it's proximity, Sugar 44 was up to bat... And they knocked it out of the park. The club was refreshingly clean and wasn't too small, but it wasn't a cavern like Hi-Liter. The girls were incredibly approachable, friendly and talkative; the ones up on the main stage didn't seem to care if they were being watched or not, they genuinely appeared to enjoy dancing the pole. That was refreshing. While I wasn't too thrilled with the VIP area not having it's own seperate room, I'll admit it prevents some of the creepier moments that can happen in the VIP when it IS a room...and still let you have fun with your girl (or girls!) for half of what a lot of other clubs charge. Nearly all the girls had real breasts, no boob jobs, and that was also a pleasantly refreshing thing....well, except for one girl whose tits were obviously fake, because the scar from the operation was disturbingly visible if you were looking. Not holding it against her, but like Sir Mix-a-Lot said, "Silicon parts are made for TOYS". I like my women real; real personality, real tits, real fun. The girls at Sugar 44 were all three of those. The entire staff of Sugar 44 was not only highly professional, they were also incredibly friendly; it felt like I was in a nice little hometown bar that just happened to have really attractive strippers. If I ever rode through Phoenix again, I would undoubtedly go back to Sugar 44, and I recommend if you're ever in the area to check them out. You will NOT be disappointed...and if you honestly think this place is too expensive, you don't need to be frequenting gentlemen's clubs. You need to be making a better budget. read more
