By far, my favorite place to see theater in the valley. They get great actors and great shows. At this point, I've seen over a dozen shows there and I've never been disappointed. Unlike some theaters *cough* Gammage *cough* there's not a bad seat in the house. I loved taking advantage of their student deals, and now I love being a member of their young adult deals club. It can be tough to get tickets to something super popular (à la Les Misérables) or their Christmas show right around the holidays, but it's always worth a trip. I recommend taking rideshare or the light rail to take advantage of their drink deals and avoid the large parking lot (shared with the art museum). It's a great area and a beautiful building, on top of its other charms.

This is my second time here, and I love it! This is a smaller venue, but they do a great job with what they have. Sears are comfortable, great view of the stage seemingly from all areas of the theater. There are drinks and very light refreshments for purchase, but I would say it's best to eat before you come and/or after you leave.

Checking out the brand new theatre they built and our friends in the cast!

We came to this theater for the first time to see a few friends in Frozen. This show was the first production on their brand new stage. The whole experience was impressive and very professional. The show itself was wonderful with intricate costumes, stellar scene transitions and a wonderful cast. We had tickets in row K and paid for premium prices but in person every seat would have been a great view. So keep that in mind if cost is an issue. They have a food and alcohol bar service before the show with a lovely lobby. They sold concessions and souvenirs as well. The negatives: the bathrooms were quite unkept. Considering what tickets cost, this should have been better. I also would have liked to see better signage to direct us to where the theatre door entrances were located. Hopefully, that can be improved for the future. I loved the free parking right outside the box office too. We will definitely look out for more shows to attend here in the future.

Parking is so crowded that Phoenix theater visits park illegally and block the narrow street like these drivers.

They take up a majority of parking for the theater that is shared by the other businesses and even then Phoenix theater visitors park in no parking areas and block narrow street traffic creating a dangerous situation for other vehicles and pedestrians.

I have been to The Phoenix Theatre Company twice for two performances: Churchill and Jersey Boys. They were at different theaters so I can touch on each one. The larger new theater hasn't opened yet. Both performances were on weekdays: one on a Wednesday and one on a Thursday. I was able to find free parking in their lot on both occasions. My Wednesday visit was tougher because the Museum of Fine Arts, which shares the same lot, had free admission on this day. Luckily, someone was pulling out right as I entered. The theater is beautiful. After passing the box office, you walk through a lit-up red corridor where you'll see a message from Steven Spielberg. This brings you to a beautiful courtyard which would be a splendid place to hang out when the weather cooperates. There are two buildings. The smaller one houses the smaller theater where I saw Churchill. I'd say this theater can seat 75-100 people or so. The foldable chairs aren't the most comfortable but they do the job. If you pay for more expensive seats, you have a little table between you and your partner in crime. You can bring drinks you bought at the bar into the theatre. You can also bring an empty water bottle and fill it up at their water fountain (pro tip). The larger theater is more elaborate with real seating and a larger stage. This theater can seat a lot more than the early one. Next to the theater is a bar and a restaurant. I haven't ate at the restaurant (the reviews are mediocre) but I have seen that they will be opening a new restaurant soon. I have had one cocktail from the bar. Like other theaters, they have a signature cocktail for each performance based on the show. For Jersey Boys, I had the Sherry. It was a delicious and refreshing cocktail. The seats in the larger theater are pretty close together so there isn't much leg room. It's a little cramped. Despite some areas where you could be more comfortable, I had a fantastic experience at The Phoenix Theatre Company both times. They have a great lineup of shows which I appreciate. I'll be back soon!

Came here last night to see a production called The Roads to Loch Lomond. It was fantastic! I've never been to a play here before but for sure I'll come back. The actors were top notch!! Loved the music, the story and costumes. Well done!

I love theatre and go regularly to Gammage Auditorium performances. Every now and then, I learn about other theatre in the area, and only during the pandemic did I attend my first Phoenix Theatre performance. This past weekend, my wife and I enjoyed our first indoor performance of the Phoenix Theatre Company, located in the Hormel Theatre. It was "Into the Woods". The theatre and physical spaces were great though it was a bit chaotic at intermission and before the show started, but the staff were very friendly and helpful. The Phoenix Theatre Company is the largest producing regional theatre company in the Valley. They offer more programs and experiences than any other. With nearly 500 performances on multiple stages and thriving education and outreach programs, they have more than 100,000 people come through their doors. Their mission is to "create exceptional theatrical experiences by using the arts to articulate messages that inspire hope and understanding." Every seat in the Hormel Theatre was a good one! In ordering our "Print At Home" ticket in advance, there were several different price points, and though we got seats near the back of the theatre, they were still good seats. You can get a subscription for the season that includes all shows or a flex pass. For next year, there is also a campus pass or a big six pass. You can read about the subscriptions, shows, and programming on their website at https://phoenixtheatre.com. I appreciate that parking is free and easy to access before the shows. They are also innovative as they held outdoor shows during the pandemic. There are many ways to save! First, you can certainly buy season tickets to save on each show if you planned to attend most or all of them. Second, there is Student Rush, a middle schooler, high schooler, or college student can get one $15 ticket second minutes before curtain with a student ID. Third, there is the Young Ambassador Society for adults under 40, where tickets for weekday performances Tuesday through Friday are just $39 (call the box office to sign up). Fourth, veterans save $10 on all tickets (more info at VetTix.org). Finally, there are occasional promotions like "buy one get one 50% off" or a special price on certain dates or times. I certainly recommend the Phoenix Theatre Company to everyone who enjoys theatre!

My neighbor gifted our family with four tickets to the Phoenix Theater to see Miracle on 34th St. in the days after Christmas. It was a lovely family outing to end the holiday season. The show was wonderful, but being that is not running anymore, this review is for the theater. Per their website, "The Phoenix Theatre Company, originally founded as the Phoenix Players in 1920, is the oldest arts organizations in Arizona and remains one of the oldest operating arts organizations in the country." It has gone through extensive updates over the years, and they are currently almost done raising 20 million to fund a new theater addition. After you walk through the Steven Spielberg entrance (this is where he debuted his first film), you enter a beautiful green garden that is shared with the Phoenix Art Museum next door. Their ArtBar+Bistro opens two hours before showtime. The menu offers apps, salads, burgers, sandwiches, and dessert. As you enter your theater, there is a small beverage bar as well to grab a drink on the way in and at intermission. This is a beautiful theatre company. The actors, of all ages, were wonderful. The theater ushers were kind and really seemed to love their job and the actors. I'm excited to return for another production someday.

Had a blast . The play was really awesome . Not a bad seat in the house. Enjoyed mingling in the bar area prior to show. The theatre was very inviting and clean. The ushers were very nice and helpful with showing me to my seat. Ample parking for the event

I've been here recently now for 2 shows that I would call nontraditional, but man, they were great shows, and I had such a blast. The layout of the theater is great. I was on the 1st level for one show and on the 2nd level for the 2nd one. Despite being on the 2nd level, it still gave a personal feel and kept us engaged. If you don't like heights, make sure to arrive early to get in the lower level, as once you're on the upper level, it does go shallow & up. Getting cocktails from the bar downstairs typically has a long line, but if you go upstairs, there's usually another make-shift bar to help offset it. I didn't take advantage of any parking, as I used a ride service to the venue, as I just wanted to get dropped off at the door. It's hit or miss with parking, especially if there is something going on at the arena (basketball, concert, baseball game, etc...) Looking forward to the next event.

We walked to the venue, so I have no comment about parking. However, our show was supposed to start at 9:30pm, but the earlier showing was running a little late and so we were waiting outside for quite a while before we could choose our seats. We were invited to enter the lobby area of the building to order drinks, use the restroom, and buy some merch, so that helped to pass the time. Since I paid for Row A seating (the closest to the stage aside from the VIP section), I was invited to sit anywhere in those rows- so the rows themselves were reserved, but no specific seats, so you'll still have to call dibs on your preferred spot. As a 5 ft 8 in woman, the seating felt a little tight for my liking. Most people stood up for me to get passed them, aside from one lady, and when I walked past her I was worried my hips would smack her face. Other than that, I didn't have any problem watching the performance- nobody blocked my view and I think if I sat further away, I'd still have a decent view of the stage. We had a heckler in the crowd who kept yelling obscenities as the host of the show, fortunately by the second act he was removed from the event. There was a 15 minute intermission for the show, which was a good opportunity for more drinks or a bathroom break. I recommend using the restrooms on the second floor, as they are more hidden than the first floor. I'm glad I went to this event, and I would consider returning to the Herberger Theater Center when they have any other fun events in store.

The cast was hilarious, the drinks were great and they did an awesome job involving the audience. I was honestly worried it might be a little cringe, but I was laughing the whole time! Drunk Pirates is the offspring of the Drunken Shakespeare Society based out of downtown Phoenix in the Arizona Center. Find the parking valet on the west-facing block and look for the red door and the line. Once inside, you are sat in a "theater in the round setting" that holds around 75 people, so there truly isn't a bad seat in the house. You are greeted with a shot of blue curaçao as you prepare for the evening. For this iteration of the show, you are told the story of Treasure Island with a parody and improv twist. The actors are supremely friendly, funny, and approachable before and after the show, but when the show begins is where they really shine. As you can guess from the name, there are ample opportunities for crowd work, crowd participation, and improv games with pop culture references aplenty. Now for the four-star review. If anyone from the show reads this, I would say my biggest critique comes from the projection and pacing of the dialogue delivery. At many points through the evening, it was hard to hear punchlines either through the volume of the delivery or articulation. Another critique came from those sitting next to us, that I happen to agree with. A guy next to us was explaining to his friends that throughout the show, one of the actors would be the designated drinker and would be taking shots the entire performance. His party was disappointed when the actor took six shots the entire hour. I don't think we expected the guy to get commode hugging plastered, but we all hoped some bad decisions would be made and slips of the tongue would occur à la Drunk History style. At the end of the day, we had a great night and laughed a lot, and that's what we looked forward to. There are lots of cocktail drinks and not a lot of food options, so eat before you go. They also don't validate, so grab some Coldstone ice cream on the way out!

It honestly reminds me a lot of what the Greeks used to do through the history of their plays and performances. There were a few minor things that I had disagreements about when I went. First off it may have just been that performance but the play I attended just didn't see them that well written. Again it could've been a bad play on this attendance and it doesn't mean I won't give it another chance to see if the writing of gotten a little better. On a positive side, it was good to see them use actors who are new to the acting experience to get them seasoning. So when you go you will definitely see local upcoming talent on stage. The other negative part I have was the sound quality. They had to use headset with microphone which I thought took away from the experience of watching one on stage. There are a lot of feedback issues, dropped sound quality, and the likes which took away from the experience. I think though this too could be rectified with a little work backstage for the next time. I would like to go again and see what they have to offer. Definitely This place gives you a whole new perspective to the idea of theater which I think is a good idea. It is a pricey ticket though so be forewarned.

I've stopped by three times for matinee performances on Sunday: the Mask of Zorro (opera), a Dia de Los Muertos performance (symphony), and Rick Steves' Europe (symphony). Since this is downtown we're talking, parking isn't easy. You'll either have to park in a garage/surface lot or on the street. I'm morally opposed to paying for parking, but I've had to shell out a couple of dollars to use metered parking ten minutes or so from the venue. Minus the parking difficulties, the rest of the experience is pretty awesome. You go through metal detectors to get in, but the line moves fast. They have complimentary water, which is always a nice touch. There are multiple areas to buy refreshments and snacks (beer, wine, liquor, soft drinks, desserts, coffee, etc.). And most importantly, the theater is beautiful. Pretty much every seat in the house is solid. And the prices tend to be affordable. They also have a nice variety of performances throughout the year. As a lover of the arts, Symphony Hall will continue to be a frequent entertainment option for me. If you've never seen a symphony performance, ballet, or opera, I highly encourage you to give it a try!

I've stopped by on numerous occasions to see both concerts and comedy shows, with the most recent being the king of sax, Kenny G. Celebrity has a paid parking lot but I'm not about that life so I park on the street for free and walk a few minutes over. The neighborhood surrounding the venue is a little sketch, but I've never had any issues. Now, for the venue itself. A rotating stage is nice because there's no bad seat in the house. It's a pretty intimate venue to begin with, and even better with the stage. That part is awesome. What's not so awesome is the space in between seats. If you're tall like me, I'm 6'2", you're going to be cramped. People were shorter back in the day. When it comes to concessions, limited options but pretty much standard fare. A couple of beer options, small and big, which I've done, wine, and some snacks. While Celebrity Theatre has some faults, they bring in some good acts.

Went last night to hear Marshall Tucker Band. Two couples came in and sat behind us. All were…read moreinebriated beyond belief, but they were allowed to keep buying more alcohol. The chair to my right was empty. One of the women decided she needed to kick it repeatedly. I kindly explained I am still recovering from stomach surgery and that was painful for me. She stopped for a bit, but after intermission and more booze, she made a sport of it. I again asked her to stop. Then the woman she was with (sister?) started mouthing off. One of the men they were with went for more booze and got lost (really? It's a tiny place!). The group hooted and yelled for him until the other man went and physically got him. My husband and I did not drink ANYTHING, by the way. We finally had enough and left about halfway through MTB. Security and an employee of Celebrity were notified. All we got was "sorry". They didn't make any effort to even check on the situation. We won't spend the money and time to just be hassled and abused by drunken bullies. Sooo disappointed!! Celebrity used to be one of my favorite venues. I will never recommend it to anyone and am very doubtful I will return. Shame on Celebrity Theatre for not caring and for selling obviously drunk people more alcohol!! If I could give negative stars, I would.
