I ordered tickets online for myself and my boyfriend to see "The Empire Strips Back" on Oct. 4th, 2025 at The Herberger Theater Center. We walked to the venue, so I have no comment about parking. However, our show was supposed to start at 9:30pm, but the earlier showing was running a little late and so we were waiting outside for quite a while before we could choose our seats. We were invited to enter the lobby area of the building to order drinks, use the restroom, and buy some merch, so that helped to pass the time. Since I paid for Row A seating (the closest to the stage aside from the VIP section), I was invited to sit anywhere in those rows- so the rows themselves were reserved, but no specific seats, so you'll still have to call dibs on your preferred spot. As a 5 ft 8 in woman, the seating felt a little tight for my liking. Most people stood up for me to get passed them, aside from one lady, and when I walked past her I was worried my hips would smack her face. Other than that, I didn't have any problem watching the performance- nobody blocked my view and I think if I sat further away, I'd still have a decent view of the stage. We had a heckler in the crowd who kept yelling obscenities as the host of the show, fortunately by the second act he was removed from the event. There was a 15 minute intermission for the show, which was a good opportunity for more drinks or a bathroom break. I recommend using the restrooms on the second floor, as they are more hidden than the first floor. I'm glad I went to this event, and I would consider returning to the Herberger Theater Center when they have any other fun events in store.

First time here to see the Calamari sisters clam back. Beautiful new venue. In the city with plenty of garage or on street parking on a Sunday. Stage west was a more intimate venue, but not a bad seat in the house. Staff very friendly.

Came by to see the interactive jury experience and really enjoyed this venue. It's small and intimate. We got lucky and found metered parking outside! Clean, great layout, nice snacks and beverages at concession.

We had a girls get together. We saw the Calamari Sisters at the Herberger Theatre. When we went to purchase the tickets several months in advance these seats were the only seats that were available together for a party of five. I will say the show was very good and we really enjoyed it, but our seats were not. On the ticket it does state that it's an obstructive view. You could only see 50% of the stage from our seats. There were several open seats in the theater, which left us confused as to why when we went to purchase our tickets, the obstructive view tickets were the only ones available. We ask the usher if we could move to one of the empty rows. We were told no. We would've gladly paid more to sit in a seat with no obstructed view. I'm not sure why there were so many empty seats with great views, why they weren't available purchase or why we could not move. I had my elderly mother and her friend with us. It was very difficult for them to watch the show because you had to lean on the railing in front of us to see the stage.

I want believe I've lived in AZ for o er 20 years and this was my first event at the Herberger Theater. I attended with a group of girlfriends for John the Violinist who was AMAZING. It's an intimate venue and doesn't appear to have a bad seat in the house. I'm looking forward to attending events there in the future....

Great theater in downtown Phoenix. They have 3 theaters, so they could have up to 3 events going on. The staff is fantastic. Great drinks and different snack options too.

We came to see Little Shop of Horrors and loved it. Clever stage set up and nicely done. Come early, they gave maybe 5 minutes for stragglers then started. Intermission is 15 minutes. Very kind and helpful staff every step of the way. Concession stand and bar available. You can buy your tickets online. The Parking Garage just West was $30 (card only). They email you more parking options available the day of, they are just further away.

I visited the Herberger Theatre for a second time this month! It was for the same the same show (The Empire Stripes Back 5/5), just a few years later! Our experience was not as great this time around. First, parking, they do not partner with any large parking structures in the area, why? On their website, they first suggest the Ace parking lots in the area, which they don't validate or work with, then follow up with the more affordable option at the Arizona Center. It had been a few years and I was driving, so asked my friend to pull up parking and this part is a slight series of miscommunications, as she pulled up the wrong one. She did try using the chat feature to verify with the theatre, which they did not confirm and just said, yes it's on the website and then we tried calling to no answer. We also asked the parking garage attendant, and they said yes we do partner with Herberger and this is the discounted parking. As you can expect they do not. It was definitely a bit our fault, but I do feel like they should be working with neighboring garages or at least answer when trying to call or use chat. Upon parking and arriving to the theatre, there was absolutely no order to the lines and they just went every which way and direction. Their merch store was literally in the middle and overall it was just a very unsmooth experience. We got some beverages at their concessions stand, about $15-20 for a cocktail and $8-10 for a beer. They also offer candy and some other snacks. Cocktails were on the sweet side, but did lean into the theme of the show which was fun! We were in the first few rows and the overall show was great. The theatre is definitely older and that is reflected in the seats (comfortable enough, no drink holders) and overall space, but for the most part they offer all the things you need for a show, just don't expend a super high-end experience.

We had a great experience here watching Rudolph with Grandma and the kiddos. The craft activities before the show were wonderful and the staff were so friendly. My only complaint is the cranky usher staff. When the show ended we waited in front to greet the performers and by the time we got back to our seats to collect our bags they gave us major stink eye and rushed us out of there to get our things and go. As if 2 extra minutes would hurt anybody. They should know that kiddos need a little extra time as well as grandma with her walker. They hurried us out of there as if we were breaking a law. Sheesh. That soured it for us.

I'm not big into theater but I had a fun time here seeing Little Shop of Horrors. It was easy to park and walk to the theater, checking in was simple and everyone was friendly. The show was very well done. There is a lot of talent here in Phoenix. And this venue is very comfortable and clean. I'd definitely come back.

Very nice theater. I have been here twice and both were completely different experiences. My first time was during Covid so we we were seated outside. This past weekend we got to go inside and it was a good time. I had tickets to the Valentines Swan Gala and it was a good experience. We arrived about 15 minutes prior to the show starting and the lobby area was packed. We grabbed our programs from the friendly worker and we head on up to our seats. Once upstairs, the usher showed us where to sit. The chairs were very comfy, the view was great, and the show was beautiful!

Today, I attended the Herberger lunchtime theater for the first time and am hooked already! Each season is five months and five shows. They run 1-2 weeks each, Mon thru Thur, start at 12:10 in the afternoon, and are less than one hour long. You can even prepay for lunch, provided by the nextdoor neighbor, Huss Brewing, to be waiting for you as you arrive in the theater. Show tickets are only $10 each. Lunch is only $12, and you pick from a dew different sandwiches or salads, and each one includes chips and a cookie. I would suggest arriving 10 or more mounties early so that you can enjoy your lunch without feeling disruptive to the play. I saw The Moment, which is running one more time, tomorrow at 12:10. It's a play, in progress. It's only one act so far and is in the works, so it was fun to be a part of it and to hang around afterward to give feedback to the writer. The play is about how Barack Obama announces his run for president and how that affects a Washington DC black family and the trajectory of their lives. I cried and also enjoyed the group of elderly black women sitting behind me as they giggled over handsome younger photos of President Obama and how they commented on historical events that they themselves lived through. It was a moving moment to be a part of.

I came to the theatre to attend The Jury Experience with a friend. The theatre is clean and beautiful. Everyone helping us check in was so nice.

Ask the Community - Herberger Theater Center

Anyone have experience sitting in the left/right loge section of the theater? Apparently this section has an "obstructed view". Is it bothersome or barely noticeable to the theater goer?

When I was their I did not see any problem with the left side besides being off center but all seats are excellent seats there

I know it is a small venue, but every place has the best seats. Where are the best seats in the house?

We normally like the first 15 rows. Since it is stadium/raised searing, there are really no bad seats.

I like the fact that there are daring enough to challenge the audience with nudity (both male and female) in a very tasteful artistic way and I'd give them high regard for that. It honestly reminds me a lot of what the Greeks used to do through the history of their plays and performances. There were a few minor things that I had disagreements about when I went. First off it may have just been that performance but the play I attended just didn't see them that well written. Again it could've been a bad play on this attendance and it doesn't mean I won't give it another chance to see if the writing of gotten a little better. On a positive side, it was good to see them use actors who are new to the acting experience to get them seasoning. So when you go you will definitely see local upcoming talent on stage. The other negative part I have was the sound quality. They had to use headset with microphone which I thought took away from the experience of watching one on stage. There are a lot of feedback issues, dropped sound quality, and the likes which took away from the experience. I think though this too could be rectified with a little work backstage for the next time. I would like to go again and see what they have to offer. Definitely This place gives you a whole new perspective to the idea of theater which I think is a good idea. It is a pricey ticket though so be forewarned.

Located in downtown Phoenix, this venue, you guessed it, houses the Phoenix Symphony. Though that's not all. They also host ballet performances and opera performances, too. I've stopped by three times for matinee performances on Sunday: the Mask of Zorro (opera), a Dia de Los Muertos performance (symphony), and Rick Steves' Europe (symphony). Since this is downtown we're talking, parking isn't easy. You'll either have to park in a garage/surface lot or on the street. I'm morally opposed to paying for parking, but I've had to shell out a couple of dollars to use metered parking ten minutes or so from the venue. Minus the parking difficulties, the rest of the experience is pretty awesome. You go through metal detectors to get in, but the line moves fast. They have complimentary water, which is always a nice touch. There are multiple areas to buy refreshments and snacks (beer, wine, liquor, soft drinks, desserts, coffee, etc.). And most importantly, the theater is beautiful. Pretty much every seat in the house is solid. And the prices tend to be affordable. They also have a nice variety of performances throughout the year. As a lover of the arts, Symphony Hall will continue to be a frequent entertainment option for me. If you've never seen a symphony performance, ballet, or opera, I highly encourage you to give it a try!

It was a fun event, the hired actors were good and the food was decent. I don't know if the Senior Center provided the food, or if it was part of the show cost. Regardless... if you've never been to one of these murder mystery shows, it can be extremely confusing. The actors gave each table a hard book folder with notes in it, they chose one person from each table to be a "suspect" of the murder. Not a whole lot of explanation goes in to what each suspect is supposed to do. You really have to read the notes in the folder. I was chosen as a suspect and I needed to say specific things when all the suspects were interrogated up in front of the audience, on a microphone. "Anxiety spike!" A couple times, everyone in the room has to go around to other tables, or mill around the room, asking questions to try and figure out who the killer is. It gets very convoluted. I noticed that some people just gave up because it was too confusing. There should be a little bit more explanation as to what people are supposed to do, ESPECIALLY the people from the audience who are chosen as suspects, or people who have NEVER been to a murder mystery themed show. Overall, it's a fun time, but be expected to do some reading, take some notes and actually participate in the show. It's not like you're there just watching a tv show. Kudos to the company actors.
