Let me start with saying Jimmy Carr was fantastic! This review is not about him. This theater is so dated. I came here in my teens and twenties and it was old then! It was erected in 1964. It seems not much has been done since! One plus is there is no bad seat as far as seeing who's on stage. The negative is, our seat last night was the farthest top seating and the ceiling above was low. Very low. I was sweating like an animal and I'm not usually running warm like that! Huge lack of circulation. The seats are very tight leaving little space for knee comfort. There was a lack of section and seat labeling. Hard to tell where we were. Carpet was old. Paint was old. Overall,,,,, It NEEDS an update. It's such an iconic theater that really has much potential. I hope someone puts some money in this place to make it what it could be.

This theater is OLD!! It's in serious need of updating! The seating arrangement is in a circular layout so any seat is good. But.... The seats are hella small and seriously close to the row in front of you. There is zero leg room. I'm only 5'5 and my knees were jammed up against seat in front of me. I ended up leaving event after about an hour because I was so uncomfortable!! My husband is 6'2 and he was miserable. I will not attend any future events there.

Celebrity Theatre is ok. As long as you have good seats it's not bad but we've had seats in the back before and the view isn't very good. The service is good but slow. Drinks are strong. Parking is a disaster. Don't park in the lot next to the theater. Nobody is there directing cars at all and when we left there were literally cars parked 4-5 deep so you couldn't leave. It was crazy.

We just saw comedian Stavros Halkias at Celebrity theater in Phx for his Steamboat Tour. First off, the show itself was 5 stars all the way. Absolutely hilarious, non stop laughing from start to end. If you're unfamiliar with this comedian I highly recommend you check him out. His crowd work and jokes are really good. The theater itself is interesting for a stand up comedy show. Since it's circular you spend some of the time looking at the person from behind. He commented on this in a joke. Also, depending on the seats, you might have a wall obstructing your view and it was pretty packed and hot in there. So, venue was okay but the show was excellent so I'll give 4 stars.

We came and saw Brett Young here. I really like how small this venue was. The rotating stage was neat as well. Plenty of parking. The bar was okay. Very weak margarita. Tasted watered down. Service was friendly tho and they had a lot of security around. I'd go to another concert here.

Great venue overall! It definitely gets hot in the summer, so make sure to bring a sealed water bottle (up to a gallon) - they won't let you in if it's already opened. There's a clear bag policy, and I recommend arriving early or taking a Lyft to snag a good parking spot and easy front access. Other than that, it's an awesome spot with plenty of bathrooms, food options, and drinks to keep you going all night.

We are in section B3, row 22 - almost to the very back.

Too small of a seat, no leg room. Safety hazard venue. No access for handicapped or disabled. View was good from any seat. Access to drinks, snacks is good. Prices are $$$. Sound system wasn't good. Very disappointed in the venue. We came early and got a handicap parking space. Parking is ok. Heavy security made my wife open her clutch 4x6 purse. Will not return to this venue.

From start to finish, the experience at Celebrity Theatre for the Tony Hinchcliffe show was absolutely outstanding. Brianna and every single employee at the front and box office set the tone the moment we arrived. They were warm, professional, and genuinely went above and beyond to make sure everything was perfect. From helping with tickets and seating to making accommodations with ease, the entire staff made us feel taken care of in the best way possible. You could tell they truly cared about making the night enjoyable for everyone. The level of kindness and professionalism was far beyond what you'd expect--it honestly elevated the whole experience. Celebrity Theatre is already such a unique venue, but it's the people like Brianna and the rest of the front staff who make it unforgettable. I can't recommend this place enough and will absolutely be back for future shows.

My first time here and I've lived in Phoenix and East Valley for almost 30 years now?? Definitely a seasoned venue. When was this place built??? Anyway. Went for a RUff MMA fight which was fun. There were adequate snacks and drinks and concessions. Our 2 beers 2 pretzels and a water was about $60 which I guess is what we'd come to expect of a venue. No bells and whistles here though. Nothing lavish whatsoever. Just a dirt parking lot and some folding chairs inside. Sound system was on point and staff was very helpful and friendly!

I haven't been to this venue in years. However, I think they're actively doing more to host events. In the last 9 months, I've been to six events. Two of the nights were for nationally known stand-up comedians and four were concerts. The performance space is unique in that it's designed as a theater in the round. I've yet to see a performance where they take advantage of the stages ability to rotate 360°. I am sure one of the challenges of booking this entertainment space is the relatively small size. However, this makes the performances you see here see more intimate. Even the farthest seats from the stage are only maybe 45 or 50 rows back. One of the minuses of of the celebrity theater is it location. After the comedian ended around 10pm, I heard several people trying to figure out where there might be a nearby neighborhood bar to get a drink and keep socializing. However, the downstairs bar at Celebrity Theater closes right when the event is over. I wish they would keep this bar area open for another hour after events like comedians that are over fairly early in the evening. A simple announcement that there is a downstairs bar open for another hour with additional bathrooms would also decrease the long lines for the upstairs bathrooms on the way out of the venue.

Ask the Community - Celebrity Theatre

For the theater-style seats in Section B, do the armrests stay fixed in the down position, or can they be moved up?

They are fixed. Extremely tight on legroom. Seats are not wide either. I do not recommend this theater.

About 10 years I went to the theater. The seats were quite old and narrow. Have they been upgraded in the recent renovations?

I've been going there for about 4 years... and they look and feel very old. Don't think they've upgraded!

I am handicapped and have to use a mobility scooter. If I were to attend a concert with 2 friends is there a safe and convenient place for us three? And what is the bathroom situation for someone like me?

I would call the theatre. The main circular areas looked like it had an ada area. You should have no problem accessing most of theatre. I would call to ensure 3 seats. There was a larger stall in bathroom, turning around might be an issue, but I'm… Read more

Can my sister can go is 17 years old?

    Depends on the venue.

Where would one recommend for 2 couples to eat before a show?

The Vig on 40th st and Indian School is a great option and not too far from the venue!

    Is it 18 and over?

    It depends on the act.

Looking to buy seats for a show later this month at celebrity theatre. Just wondering where the best seats are. I know I have heard all seats are good, but I've also heard that with some seats the view is blocked because of people standing?

That is true the way the stage is built all seats are good. I have sat everywhere and never not had a chance to see anything due to someone standing.

And it's safe to say that Tempe Center for the Arts is one of my favorites. First off, you can either park in the parking garage a few minutes away from the venue by foot or you can park in the gravel lot that is a minute or two farther away. If you park in the garage, they will validate your ticket. Guaranteed parking is always a big win in my book. I've been to the Tempe Center for the Arts (TCFTA) twice. Once for a concert and once for a play put on by the Arizona Theater Company. Both have been A+ experiences. First off, the venue is located right by Tempe Towne Lake which makes for a picturesque location. The venue itself is just as beautiful with stunning architecture, both inside and out. It's clean. It's comfortable. The ushers are friendly. There is plenty of seating to hang out outside before the show, during intermission, or after. You can also hang out on the patio where there's a fire pit and seating. On a certain day of the week that's escaping me, they do an open mic night out there. I haven't tried any of the concessions, but they have a bar and some snacks. There's complimentary water. The theater is pretty intimate which makes for a better experience. It's designed well. There are even often some art installations you can check out. Overall, you can't ask for much better than this when it comes to an event experience! I've become a season ticket holder of the Arizona Theater Company, so I can't wait to be back!

There are a couple of reasons why I've been quite happy with ATC: (1) The venue: Performances take place at the Tempe Center for the Arts. It's a beautiful theater all-around. The architecture inside and out, how modern and clean it is, the free water you can bring into the theater, how comfortable the theater is itself, the patio with fire pits, and the art that's displayed. They validate your parking if you park in the adjacent parking garage. Coming from a guy who goes to a lot of events, this is one of my favorite venues. (2) The price + the perks: I thought the price for season tickets was fair. As part of being a season holder, you also get some awesome perks like a free buddy pass, 50% off tickets to bring a friend, and more. (3) Customer service: My interactions with them have always been pleasant. If you're unable to make a performance, they will work with you. (4) The shows: I've been impressed with the sets and all of the theatrical elements that are a part of the performance. The acting, overall, has been solid, too. I have three more performances left. I hope next season's line-up is just as interesting!

We visited this club Saturday, June 16th…read more I called ahead; asking about packages & hours the club gets busy. They answered all my questions and mentioned there was free entry with passes on their website. Most clubs are in rather seedy areas - but Sugar 44 almost looks out of place nestled between a McDonalds and a Wells Fargo. This is a very small club; and the free parking is commensurate with that. We arrived at about 8:30, and parking was available; but when we left a couple hours later, it was a bit difficult to get out. We felt safe despite the poor lighting. The club entrance is on the side, under an awning. This is a walk-in, seat yourself scenario; there are no hosts or people to bring you in. As you go in, the bar will be in front of you with a few TVs above showing sporting events. The bar appears to have seating for about 12 people. To the right of the entrance is the curtained VIP dance area. The DJ is visible to the side of the bar and the main floor continues on to the left. The floor is a bit crowded due to the small size and amount of furniture. We estimated about 12 tables flanking the small stage; which itself had seating for maybe 10 patrons. There is a single small stage at Sugar 44 with a single pole; enough room for a single dancer to do a good show without having to cover a lot of ground. The music was reasonably diverse & we appreciate diversity in all things; including dancers and music. The bathrooms are clean and well-maintained. We enjoy meeting and getting to know the staff at the clubs. Our server, Savannah I believe, showed up right away. We liked her. She took good care of us. Soda was $5, drinks $9-10. They didn't offer any sort of "date night" packages or small group offerings so we just ran a tab. They do have bottle service for large groups, though. The drink quality overall seemed ok. We like a real diversity in club talent; variations of styles, body shapes and sizes -- we really enjoy getting to talk to them and get a sense of their personalities. There was a pretty small pool of dancers when we arrived (understandable - we were early). Better by the time we left. Overall, we found the diversity and "quality" of dancers overall to be "fair". Most ethnicities were represented and there was a good range of body types; large and small breasts, short and tall ... what we didn't see were more to the extreme sides; the "beach blondes" nor "pierced tattooed bad ass brunettes" The Gal loves so much. The "girl next door" was missing too. We love great pole work and Sugar 44 is above average. Several dancers were extremely energetic and performed very well. The dancers as a whole were "6s" and "7s" with a few exceptions. The club is low pressure for us as a couple. We were only approached once and she was friendly. We bought her a drink and chatted her up. I wouldn't call it "couples friendly" - regulars got a lot of attention. Not recommended for first-time couples. No VIP this visit, but we did get information to share with you. VIP requires a $20 "wrist band". These grant you access to VIP areas. The dancers will then give you private VIP for $25/song. The songs do not seem "unnaturally shortened" here. There are also "Champagne Rooms". One VIP area has a large privacy curtain and appears to be able to service 8-10 guests; each have a very small divider between them. I am not sure it would be comfortable for couples in there. I'm hoping the area behind the DJ offers something more couple friendly. There are table/floor dances available at $10. We'll update this review when we actually get VIP time. The club is ok for couples; perhaps with repeat visits we'll get more attention like the "regulars" seemed to get. We were treated well by staff and talent. We will most likely be back.
