This was my third time attending an event at this theater. This time we saw "I Know What You Did Last Breakfast Club." I've also attended their annual Die Hard Christmas and The Princess Bride. This is an adult puppet show with adult humor. The actors are so creative and the puppets are each so unique. It is a small venue, so all seats are great seats. They serve cocktails and non-alcoholic drinks as well as snacks. If you and friends are looking for a hilarious amd unique experience, you need to catch a show here! read more

WHOA! WHOAAAAAA!!!! This is seriously the theater we have all been missing! Puppets! We started with the Xmas Die Hard show and got tickets immediately for Predator. These are truly adult only puppet shows. Amazing and talented people. Think improv with puppets. They are crazy good! The ring leader of the group is a gentleman (I think he would be really impressed I used that term!) named Shaun Michael McNamara. Funny, talented and even part of his cast! Don't accidently go to Phoenix Theater when you come to the show. It is a smaller more intimate theater across the street in the BMO building. Snacks and beer and wine available. You also park free in the lot next door. I would get tickets to any show. None will disappoint! read more

Adults only! If you like raunchy humor, well known movies, and unique experiences - go to a puppet show by Playhouse on the Park. I have been to the Die Hard production twice and also The Lost Boys earlier this year and they were hilarious. The people who put on the show are actually quite talented...they can sing, they can act, they do accents for the voices. It is such a different, fun experience. Playhouse On The Park is a venue located on the ground floor of the Viad Tower across the street from the Phoenix Art Museum. It's a nice venue that showcases a number of performances. An annual holiday tradition for me is to see All Puppet Players "Die Hard: A Christmas Story" show. They put on multiple shows every Christmas season. It's a spoof of the original Die Hard movie using puppets mixed in with improv adult humor. All Puppet Players has other shows throughout the year that are inspired by a variety of popular movies. Playhouse on the Park has been hosting shows for over 20 years and has a snack bar in the lobby that includes adult beverages. Parking is free just outside the venue in the parking garage. read more

This such a weird, wonderful little theater! We saw the All Puppet Players rendition of a Princess Bride here -- hilarious!! I had no idea what to expect with it being at BMO Tower. I actually wondered if this was going to be folding chairs in a lobby, but it's a legit little theater! There's even a little refreshment booth. As it's small, every seat is great. The BMO building is really interesting and so gorgeous. The fountains and park like setting make it a great spot to visit or just walk around at. The statues make me chuckle and are such a unique addition to the gardens. Inside the lobby there is a small venue theater that has had numerous groups performing there over the years but these days is best known for, "All Puppet Players" theater shows. The performers are hilariously talented and the shows are really funny. Loads of fun is had by all. The improv adds to the hilarity. Great staff too. Die Hard of course is the holiday special that they usually do every Christmas. Fair warning, it is so popular it sells out way in advance and they even add more shows. Princess Bride was this week, Jurassic Park was a few years ago and next fall they are doing, "The Lost Boys." Vampire Day even to come dressed up too. As you probably have guessed or heard by now, they are parody, adult themed and naughty puppet shows. No kids please. I have been to two so far and I laughed my rear-end off. It is best when weird things happen like a puppet arm flies off or someone in the audience does something crazy and the performers are all over it. Many friends have been going to many of their shows over the years and say the same thing. Check it out. If you offend easy maybe do not check it out. The theater has it's own free parking lot which is always a plus in the central Phoenix area, has a small bar and snack stand, and also a merch cart for the puppet shows. I read about "Die Hard" as a puppet show in a fellow Yelp friend's review. (Thanks, Travis T.) It sounded quite intriguing so I had to see it for myself! What can I say? It's an experience! I'm definitely one of those people who counts Die Hard as a Christmas movie and has watched it more times than I can count. I have a husband who throws out the line "Welcome to the party, pal!" exactly when it's appropriate. So watching grown humans dressed all in black carting around very well-made puppets of our favorite characters was extremely entertaining. Their mannerisms, voices, line delivery and humor were fantastic. There was plenty of current event wit: think politics, P. Diddy, etc. We laughed a lot and completely enjoyed our evening with John McClane and Hans Gruber. And their Nakatomi Plaza was very - special. Buying tickets was easy, there was free parking in the visitor spaces at the BMO building, and the theater was just the right size to enjoy the performance. One of the more interesting things to do in Phoenix. When I bought tickets to the show, I thought the location of the event was at the Phoenix Theater Company, but I'm glad I checked my junk mail for updates. This is located within the BMO tower. Parking is convenient and there is plenty, just northwest of the entrance of the theater / auditorium (see picture), and you have the option of open-air or covered parking, located off of Palm @ 1st Ave. The entrance to the venue from the parking lot is close and appears handicap accessible. Bathrooms are located just inside the entrance albeit a tight and sharp turn for those with assistive devices, and because the entrance is right there, it can be a crowded area to navigate. We really weren't provided much information on what to expect when we got here. The website for where I bought tickets (Phoenix Theater Company) shows a bar and lounge and requests for reservations. There appears to be people eating as well. So we ate light in case there were food options. The information provided tells of the parking location, mentions a bar, to bring an extra layer of clothing as it can be chilly, and start time of the show. What it doesn't tell you is what time doors open to the venue (just to "get here plenty of time ahead"), what time doors open to the auditorium, that there is no food, no available seating in the lobby, or that the bar is tiny and has very limited options (see picture). There is seating for only 5 people in the lobby of the venue. The bar is no more than a desk, just inside the entrance, as shown in the picture. If you can't see it, it's because it's easy to miss. They do sell trinkets like shirts, stickers, and cheap gag gifts like a plastic nose you can pick yourself. The auditorium was medium sized and seats were the movie theater fold down type. They were expectedly comfortable enough and leg room was average - more leg room than most airplanes and even some other concert venues. It did get chilly and we were glad we brought a jacket. Our show had an intermission where you could purchase more alcohol, and a "program" is available via QR code, but there is no mention of the intermission or really anything about the show except who's in the cast and production. If I was rating the show, I'd give it 4 stars; if I'm rating the venue, I'd give it 2 stars. read more

Parking just to the right of the theater in the lot. Several eat sculptures in the garden before entrance. Friendly, welcoming ticket taker. It's a small auditorium with each seat good. Shaun is so talented and very funny. We enjoyed 50 Shades of Felt and today also liked The Never-Ending Story. It is a talented staff of artists/performers who can follow their lines but jump into to improve( quick wit) when heckled by the audience. On that note both times the patrons added hoot & holler to the show. It's an oddball show with a bunch of oddballs ( a good thing). We look forward to the next play read more

Alright, All Puppet Players at Playhouse on the Park is what is up! My first experience with an adult puppet show was years ago now and it is a much different experience today as it was back then. I also believe the pricing is a bit more favorable these days... anyhow, I'm sure Playhouse on the Park has other events and showings but All Puppet Players is where it's at for me. I have seen a number of shows now and I just love the realness and the real silliness of it all. I do understand that it is not for everyone and if you are easily offended, then it certainly is not for you! Like, if you're offended easily, don't even bother, just stay away all together... Think of "grown-up" kid... or rather "grown-up" boy with the "that's what she said" type of jokes... Only way better... I strongly encourage those who enjoy supporting local arts to check it out because Shawn just does a stellar job, as does all the staff... Since my first review for All Puppet Players, I've attended two more shows. Their production of "A Die Hard Christmas" has become a holiday tradition for me. And now, I want to share a little something about their latest original show "A Fist Full of Puppets". Trust me, it's not what you're thinking! I even watched the original spaghetti western (for the 1000th time) just to prepare for their subtle references and sarcastic tendencies. Only to realize their story more closely follows "The Quick and the Dead". Nice twist! Still, the original music, the topical jokes, the humor and the improvisation were awesome! These guys work hard and they love their jobs. Go buy some tickets to their next show and prepare to laugh a little! read more

Went to the puppet show Fifty shades of felt. What fun and what a great performance! Small intimate theater that is not easily found. It's in an office building (like a tower) so you wouldn't think anything is there other then offices. Parking was free around back but you do have to use the gate to enter and exit with a ticket. Had the privilege of seeing The Creature from the Black Lagoon last Night and previously Die Hard. My cheeks hurt from laughing - such a great time. Immense talent with real time unscripted commentary that leaves you cracking up. Great little theater in a cool business area that has a park. They offer a little bar with beer, wine, candy and nonalcoholic drinks. Definitely a must see, we won't be missing any shows from now on! read more

PHOTP is an adorable intimate theater in the heart of Museum Row. Parking is free in the adjacent lot, but if you're heading north on Central Ave, be on the watch for the left turn at E Palm so you don't circle the neighborhood. This was my first time here and I was excited about the top notch live performances. The acting was great and the vocal abilities even greater. Even the set and props for Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol were rather impressive. If you're here during the day and have a little extra time, be sure to check out the well-manicured outdoor garden and public art, too. Both are appropriate for photo ops. So, don't be a Scrooge.
