A Bit of a COVID-era Time Warp... I've always enjoyed the menu here, but during the COVID-19 shift, the process hit a major snag. When I walked in expecting to grab a couple of sandwiches, I found out everything had to go through the app. No big deal--I downloaded it and placed the order right there. However, here's where the frustration set in: The Wait: I wasn't told it would take nearly 45 minutes for my order. The Math: I was standing right there in the shop, and for two simple turkey sandwiches, a 45-minute wait felt excessive--especially with what looked like a full house of staff working behind the counter. I'm a fan of their food, but this particular visit was a major test of patience. Since this happened during the throes of the pandemic, has anyone been back recently? I'm curious if the ordering process has smoothed out and if the speed is back to what it used to be.

What makes it absolutely outstanding are the two women who work there. My daughter can have a difficult time communicating. These two women take their time with her whenever she orders her subs and get it just the way she wants it. She LOVES the process of interacting with them to build her sub. They could easily look up at me when they don't understand her...but they DON'T! They make my daughter the focus of their attention, and it empowers her. We appreciate them. They are two very special people.

My son is in OHS and loves the place for the student specials and got me to go back. Service seems better and that makes a world of difference. Now it is my new Ossining staple. I got a fantastic lamb gyro for $9. That's just unbeatable these days. The veggies on it were fresh the pita was warm and soft and the lamb wasn't off a traditional doner spit but solid. I can see them becoming a weekly ritual. Looking forward to trying their chopped cheese.

I didn't catch the nice lady's name at the register, but she was very pleasant--greeted me with a smile and a warm welcome. She even took a moment to compliment my hooded sweatshirt from the Hudson Valley Polar Plunge for the Special Olympics . I shared with her that my wife and I participate every year to help raise money, and she was genuinely kind and engaging about it. That small interaction really set the tone for the visit.
