I would challenge ANYONE to tell me where, IN PEEKSKILL I can get FRESH tacos, burritos or Mexican food that is organic- steroid free and a product of sustainable living... all of these 2 star reviews are simply whining about it being like a Chipotle wah wah wah. God I never met such a generation of whiners in my whole life! Yes, I admit that I'm whining about the whiners SO WHAT! SO WHAT! If this is a "wannabe" Chipotle I'm happy to have a place like this here! DO WE REALLY NEED ANOTHER ITALIAN RESTAURANT OR PIZZERIA?! If you don't like it, go eat Kentucky Fried Chicken or Wendy's... if you DON'T want to be frustrated about which Pizzeria or disgusting Chinese food place you can order UNHEALTHY food from- go here and eat. I prefer the 3 hard shell tacos- chicken-lettuce-tomato-cheese-cilantro-sour cream. Or the bowl with brown rice, and the same ingredients... Everything WAS FRESH. No brown limp lettuce, meat is fresh tasting not dry, everything is made fresh, I've seen them make it. Even their soda is organic... they have no "syrup" soda there... ewww Why wouldn't you patronize a place that sells healthy, fresh, food???? Does THAT make sense? Oh, well, when/ if they go out of business perhaps they'll just put..... uh.... duh.... another pizzeria there.... perhaps that'll make you all happy... Mic drop read more

I asked and paid for extra cheese on my bowl and I got no cheese. this is not the first time they have messed up my order.

This place has been going downhill since they transferred Cortez! They can't even get their own menu items made correctly and this is a recurring situation at this Salsa Fresca. It's very disappointing every time I order from here there is something wrong with my order. Do better! read more

They purposely don't give your account reward points. Every time I'm close to a free meal, all my purchases don't give points.

i cant believe how rude the staff is, they gave me the incorrect order and when i called asking if i can come back the lady on the phone was extremely nasty. when i sent my little sister in to get the order the lady was even more rude. she tried to tell my little sister she is wrong and my ordered was correct when it was wrong. i ordered a bowl with BIRRA and the bowl I received had CHICKEN AND POTATOES. They also forgot my guacamole that I had paid for with my order and when my sister asked her for the side of guacamole she ignored her. Even after returning back to the store to make things right, they did not. they made it worse and made this such a terrible experience. All we wanted was some taco bowls and guacamole read more

I have to say I'm disappointed with the quality of my pickup order which isn't normally the case. I used my points for a free entree and added guacamole which I had to pay extra for. After I left I realized there was no guacamole or sour cream that I asked for. I also asked for utensils and they forgot to add them. read more

It pains me to give a poor review here because I have enjoyed this location for years and I feel a little funny making my first assessment a negative one. However, when you see a rat scurrying by you and hiding under one of the exposed trash cans, this is impossible to ignore. You might wonder why I didn't bring it to the attention of the staff and the reason is because there was a trap right between the trash can and the door, so clearly this is something they're aware of. I managed to finish my meal, but I could hardly say that I enjoyed it. I'm not unrealistic. I recognize that restaurants have to deal with such problems and that they're a reality. However, I recall back in my days of working in the pastry business when a restaurant owner told me that it's his job to keep vermin away from the food preparation area and away from the customers. I agree. I wonder if having exposed trash containers is even in keeping with state health code. I would think that it isn't. I have two rules regarding restaurants that I've gone by for many years, both relating to hygiene. The first is that I don't trust any place that has a filthy bathroom. If they have no pride in the place that they know I can see and inspect, I have to doubt the cleanliness of the kitchen, which is kept from my eyes. The second rule is that if I'm seeing one rat, chances are it's not solitary. There's not much else to say, I suppose other than that I have no agenda here. I neither want, nor would I accept if offered, any restitution for my food. I just hope that they get this issue under control and that they do so quickly, both for their benefit and for that of their customers. In the meantime, other Yelpers can decide what to do with the information I have provided. read more

The problem with this kind of model is that the employees operate in an environment where the customer literally points to what they want in front of the face of the employee. Follow the finger. Repeat. As such, you get what you want and you are satisfied almost 100% of the time. The food is good. It's hard to mess up a burrito you supervised, unless you're an awful supervisor. That's on you. The problems arise when you throw a wrench in the machine by ORDERING via a food delivery app. Then the employees have to read, understand and operate without the "finger of God." I would say my orders are correct 60 percent of the time. Missing avocado, no salsa, no rice, missing beverages, etc. Don't break their brains. Go. Don't order and you'll be fine. read more

This is NOT a review of the Peekskill location. They do a decent job. It is a review of the app, as the "Create Your Own" option has been removed. Now I have to go to the restaurant to order, wait on the line, instead of just ordering in the app, getting my points, and picking up my order. Is Salsa Fresca deliberately trying to drive me away? read more

I always have a very pleasant experience at Salsa Fresca Peekskill NY. The staff are always very accommodating, kind and professional. They go above and beyond to make my experience perfect. The place is always so calm and peaceful and a pleasure to be in. read more

People are not trained. Don't know how to roll a burrito and no consistency btw the 3 people behind the counter. One generous, one about right and one too stingy. Tasteless burritos, terrible chips, lowest common denominator Del monte taste tasting salsa. If you name your place salsa anything you should at least do that right. Guac sucked. Husband said beef burritos were ok Place still smells like paint, bug spray and 'other' / unpleasant. They appear to be a new chain. Opened a few and our area and not all are created equal. This one sucks. read more

This place is the slowest restaurant in peekskill. I can't tell you how much time I've wasted here waiting for food to be made. Chipotle is about 2 miles up the road and worth the extra drive. read more

Ummmm........well my buffalo chicken quesadilla had no cheese in it and it was just chicken falling out all over the place. Charged me extra too. Maybe it's because they were busy or it was new people? I don't know but this was pretty bad. read more

While there is some fresh chicken grilling done on premises, this is similar to Subway sandwich assembly, but on a tortilla or in a taco shell. My buffalo chicken quesadilla was kinda pricey at $7.95, and while it was ok, it pales in comparison to the food truck down the road (Put Some Meat on Your Bones) for two bucks less. The space is modern and was empty this lunch day - all take out orders. The chain focuses on fresh ingredients and scores well on that mark but for me this is a quick stop for takeout if you're bored with everything else. read more

Truthfully, I don't see them lasting too long. This was our first/last visit. I was trying to "build my own" salad taco bowl---so I thought. The food server was so hasty that I had to stop him from literally putting heaps of watery black beans in the shell. Was trying to see which meat to add. He seemed annoyed that I asked questions. I ended up with the chili bc that what HE chose to give me to move me along! Very unwelcoming. Place empty and dark/dreary Friendly cashier. Back to MOES I go‍ read more

What a sad buffalo chicken quesadilla. How is this the same price as their big burritos and nachos? It had to take an effort to put this few pieces of way over-cooked, under-seasoned chicken and little cheese. C'mon. If you're going to charge 8 bucks, put some actual filling in it. read more

Amazing place, so helpful and kind. Helped fixed an error that was completely my fault. Would easily recommend coming back. Thanks guys! read more

I wanted so badly to like the place better than Chipotle. The higher prices made it difficult for me to overlook things like a small portion of chips and tiny container of salsa, and the fact that the burrito just didn't have enough protein in it. If you're going to charge $11 for a burrito I'll still pay it if it's big and full of protein, but if it's not I'll continue to go to Chipotle or Moe's and never look back. read more

SUPER FRIENDLY AND A+ SERVICE ....now if they could get the food on point. Not the staff's fault because its like this at every location...SUPER greasy and ....just not fresh tasting in the protein department. The veg is always great. We've got stomach aches 2x. A few small adjustments and this place could live up to its good service. read more

Very good spot for quick Mexican food. Sometimes not so generous with the toppings, but outside of that very good and clean.

This is another build your own bowl, taco, quesadilla, or salad place. Same premise as other build it yourself places like chipotle or subway. The food is good, not great. The employees aren't the hardest working people on earth. I hate asking for utensils because they don't have any out to grab but 3 out of 4 times I've had to ask. Its a great location for this restaurant but they are usually never too busy. Try the BBQ pulled pork, by far my favorite protein source from there. read more

I'm a fan of this chain. Had the Red Hot Acapulco minus the jalapeños. It is a delicious burrito. Love the complimentary chips but I can't stand the soda they offer. It's not Coke or Pepsi. Waste of time and money. At this point, working in Peekskill I get food from here once every couple of weeks as it's one of the only things really in the area and I don't think I've ever gotten what I actually ordered. Or if I did I only take about 3 bites before throwing it out cause it just doesn't taste good. At this point, its worth to make the 20 minute drive to the Salsa Fresca in Yorktown. The workers don't want to be there and I've never once seen a "manager" in there to try and rectify a problem or at least give me my money back. Don't understand how this place is still in business read more

Friendly staff and food is ok, not as good as Moe's which is right down the street. Moes has much larger portions too. What was kinda depressing is that the dining area is unusually dark too. One final tip. I love hot sauce but the chipotle sauce is incredibly hot! Would I come again, no, I'm gonna stick with Moes. read more

I do not generally eat any fast food of any kind, but i was sick of ordering chinese and there isn't alot of take out choices around so we decided to try salsa fresca. it is close to my home and looked very clean. so we had tacos and i am gluton free so i ordered a bowl with chicken. we tried to order online but it didn't go through so when we went to pick it up it wasn't ready - not their fault the software didn't work. so they made it while we waited and the service was super friendly and they were very helpful since it was our first time there. the food was really fresh, the chicken pieces in the bowl could be bigger, but overall we were pleasantly surprised and would definitely go back again. read more
