I was hiking nearby and was looking for a place to grab lunch. My step nephew found this place thanks to Yelp. This place is nothing fancy but I was pleasantly surprise how good the food was. I got the lunch special which consisted of soup of the day plus a pork chop with rice and beans for less than $10. Did I also mention it included a soda. The food tasted really homemade and it was really good. I personally don't know much about Ecuadorian food but after my visit here Im a believer. read more

This is a family run restaurant which serves made to order Latin American food. This means that you have to sit and wait for them to cook it because they are cooking it to order for you. It is really worth the wait. I have now eaten here several times, and I have never had a bad meal. read more

After our long Bear Mountain hike, we were STARVING! So of course, we turned to yelp to get some ideas. We didnt want the basic american style restaurant. We originally were going to go to Mercado but it was closed, so we came to La Cascada! The place itself is very small, hole in the wall type feeling. Nothing fancy at all, very very casual. We sat ourselves. We ordered chips n salsa, and i got a bandeja paisa. The chips n salsa took foreeever to come out. However, the chips did come out hot n fresh! The salsa was watery, not like your usual chunky find. The green sauce was spicy but flavorful. My entree was good, portion was fair as well! The beef was a little dry, but it usually is with this dish. The rice n beans could use some work. Wasnt flavored enough. The chicharron was so good! My sisters dish was DELICIOUS. She ordered the chicken milanese. We were both satified for what we got, esp being so hungry. The bathrooms were honestly kinda gross tho, and we wish that the waitress was more attentive. read more

I am a fan. Very nice staff. Cute location in busy area. Street meter parking on a busy block. However I had no problem finding a spot. People parking and leaving as there is a convenient store and liquor store on the same block.I did not have time to sit down as I had to be on my way but hope to be back durimg my slow season. This food is fantastic. We ordered for take out. The packaging kept the food hot when we arrived home. The food reminded me of growing up in Queens Ny. Where we had Dominican, Puerto Rican, Colombian, and Cota Rican type disshes. Omg we loved it. read more

Fantastic meal. Seriously. I can't believe the chorizo tacos were only $2.50 each! They were huge, and on the appetizer menu but could definitely be a meal on their own. For dinner I got the shrimp scampi Cascada which was delicious. Also out of this world was the yellow rice and beans- I'm not normally a fan but I ate the whole portion! They lose a star only because there's a language barrier - even though the staff is quite helpful if a member of my party wasn't fluent in Spanish I think the ordering might have been more difficult. Also, the ambiance is more Mom's Kitchen than restaurant. Having said that I am definitely going to make a return visit to Cascada. The food was worth the trip! read more

We came to town for a concert and found this place on yelp with "good" reviews. When we entered the place, there is not a single customers. The lady behind the front desk just signal us take any seat we liked. So we did. After looking through the menu, we had decided on our orders: two entrees and one drink. 2 minutes later, the lady came back with water and fresh limes in a sauce dish. The lime looked fresh cut, so I held my hope high that meal will come out great as well. 3 mins passed, one customer came in for a pick up order, and he didn't waited long for his order. Was in and out of place like 5 minutes with placing the orders (looks like 3+ dishes), and walking out with his orders. So another 5 minutes passed, there are few groups of customer showed up: one person by himself, a couple, and a family. The lady took the orders from everyone, and serve the drink everyone else ordered EXCEPT ours! She also distributed out the utensils to other customers first even though we placed the order first. This is not the funniest part, the funniest part is another 10 mins pass by. The customer who sat by himself who had placed the order after us had been serve with his food already, and there is no sign of our food what so ever. We asked the lady, where is our food? Through her perfunctory tone, we were told kitchen is working on it. 20+ mins of waiting for nothing when you are hungry is not going to result a good experience. We entered the place with high expectation and hunger, and left with disappointment and crying stomach. I would suggest you found yourselves a better place where customer will get FEED per order and treat respectfully. read more

Wow last night I had a great meal at La Cascada. I moved from queens to Peekskill maybe about a year and go and was very iffy about eating at any new locations. So last night I took a chance, the restaurant is clean and very spacious. It's more like a mom and pop kitchen very cultural Marta I believe was the name of my server she took Very care of me. Took my order in a polite manner and made me feel very comfortable like if I was home, the business wasn't to busy so she even had a friendly conversation with me. The rice and beans are the best I've ever had, and that's saying alot because I am from New York City where the best restaurants in the world are. This is one of those bare bones hidden ethnic spots that open minded people, seeking good food regardless of the ambience, need to know about. They serve excellent tacos (and not just for a Guatemalan place). The fried rice with seafood and meat and chicken was perfectly seasoned and a huge portion. Easily enough for 2. Our waitress spoke excellent English which proved very helpful in describing the menu. No booze but they might allow BYO. Didn't get a clear answer on this.
