Was visiting a friend in the area and decided to take her out for some well needed R&R. She suggested this spot and it did not disappoint. It's a really big space with lots of seating both at the bar and tables. There was music playing and the vibe was lively but not too loud. Service was really quick! Felt like our food order came out in like 5-10 mins tops and everything came out hot and fresh. Our server was Adrian Q. and he was friendly and knowledgeable of menu items. Adrian gave us a complimentary drink at the end- warm red wine. And no I don't mean room temperature, I mean actually heated with steam coming out. It was at first because I've never heard of that but it actually wasn't bad and was kind of like a palate cleanser. Drinks: We both opted for the large coyote-rita with don julio for $34.50. I had the passion fruit and she had the tamarind. Both flavors were really good and I was surprised that the tamarind was not overly sweet. The drinks packed a good punch so I would say it's worth the price. Food: we started with the calamares frito, Yuka fritas, and alitas de pollo. The yuka fritas were really good, the calamari was ok, seems like it was frozen but the sauces that came with it were amazing, especially the green sauce, and the wings were good but nothing special. For entrees, I had the quesadilla de camarones and she had the enchiladas. The quesadilla was amazing! Loved every bit of it. It had pieces of shrimp inside as well as whole shrimps on the top in a creamy sauce. It also came with rice and beans which were also good. My friend enjoyed her enchiladas. It's her favorite thing there. This place is very far from (like 2 hours) but would def visit again when I'm in the area. read more

The food and service is good. Enjoyed our food and the quantity was huge. The service was nice and the waiters were kind. However, be aware that they charge a bar tip AND a waiter tip. My husband and I took our moms here and we all got drinks. They charged $50 just for a "bar tip" and then for 4 people they auto charged us 20% gratuity. Great atmosphere and service. Usually these places have to cramp tables in but this restaurant was spacious and well designed. Service was kind and constant. However, the wait for food was very long for a Mexican place. That being said, the food was very good. Had a diverse set of Mexican options. Why, why, why is area the home of the worst restaurants-utterly devoid of delicious cuisine. Neighboring Peekskill the home of a dozen restaurants you don't want to eat at! I will start with the positive the burritos and tacos were filled with tasty ground beef and chopped chicken-for this reason alone we might do take out from them occasionally. The black beans and rice was decent too. Complimentary chips & salsa we also ok. The wait staff (for water and meal delivery) were unknowledgeable. There seemed to be only one real as waiter working so our waiter was covering a large table inside and came out to use in a very grumpy mood but he tried to cover us and make sure we had what we needed and apologized for is earlier behavior but jeez the worst welcome I've ever! Being October we thought it would one of the last nights to enjoy sitting out but their courtyard was loud being on 9 and they put up no barrier to block the noise. It was also where screaming little brats came out to play. They're parents seemed thrilled to have them screaming by us instead of at their table! I asked about the sangria which he said was excellent & homemade. The Sangria, sadly, was the worst I have EVER had (except at some hole in the wall hotel in Spain were I was beginning to think everyone had the goods!!!!!) it tasted like berry soda and no discernible alcohol for $13 @ least 1/2 of cup of Ice. I should have sent it back but my Hoover, eh husband drank it! ;) & the kicker he than complained there was no alcohol. He cracks me up ;) So my advice is stick to the basics and see how it goes. We stopped here after picking up a Christmas tree close by. Seven of us without a reservation but no problem as it is a big restaurant (with a pretty large bar) and it wasn't busy on a Saturday for lunch. The server was funny, knowledgeable and very accommodating, especially as we had a couple of vegetariana and a child with nut allergies. He happily took our orders for the Mon-Fri Lunch Specials, even though it was a Saturday. We ordered a variety of food like taco salads, tacos, enchiladas, chimichangas etc. etc. The order took a little long to be brought out but not too bad. In the meantime the complimentary chips and salsas were refreshed. The spicy salsa is - spicy! The food came out very fresh. Pretty decent size servings. My taco salad bowl was a little oily and a little over-done. A side order of mole was delicious. Overall food tasted good but not memorable. The side of rice is served very stylishly. It's a large restaurant that is decorated quite elegantly inside and also has a patio outside with umbrella covered tables. It is on a main road so you will here cars driving by. Parking is adequate and there is 3-4 handicapped spots. We received a table inside right away. Service was prompt and friendly and they did turn up the AC bc it was kinda warm inside. Delicious complimentary chips and salsa arrived with our menus. The chips and salsa were fresh. Salsa just done right. It's a large menu with your traditional Mexican plates but with some chefs specials. There's also a 6 dollar kids menu. My nephew got the kids beef soft taco. One very filled taco with two shells so we took broke up the one into two for convenience sakes. He loved it and it did look delicious. I split a combo chicken shrimp fajita and a combo enchilada dish with mole sauce. We also got guacamole. Let me tell you , get the mole !!! Anything with mole from their menu ! It was DELICIOUS! I haven't had mole that good in soo long. It turns out it's the owners moms recipe. It was a complex flavor with the right smoky chocolate flavor you'd want from a good mole ! The beef and chicken filling it were good.ESP the chicken bc it was juicy and tender shreds. I can't say I tried the fajitas bc I was enjoying my mole enchiladas too much. But my sis loved them and they did smell good ! Guacamole was fresh and tasty and a huge serving. Oh. I had a margarita. El Mejor. They come in three sizes. Watch out bc these are strong ! First time there tonight. Food was very authentic. Salsa served was really good and homemade. Chips were warm and good. They give you a choice of your side to your entree- tostones, sweet plantains, rice and beans, yuka fries(i think) or salad. Sides we selected were very good and good serving sizes. Tostones served with garlic mojita sauce. Very good. Chimichanga were were tasty and served with guacamole and sour cream and shredded lettuce. Most places charge for guacamole. Delicious Mexican food. Everything here was fresh and had an extra touch that sets them apart from some other local Mexican restaurants. None of the dishes looked sloppy. We had the best chorizo street tacos as an appetizer from their specials. I wasn't sure what to get for dinner so I was recommended a surf and turf (shrimp, steak, and chicken enchilada) to taste a little bit of everything. This place is, by far, the best and most authentic Mexican food in the area. The salsa is freshly prepared and the best I've tasted anywhere. Great frozen Margaritas. All of the food is expertly prepared with care. Service is very friendly. Large comfortable dining area with booths and tables. Large oval bar in the middle with many large TVs. Ample parking. The 4 stars are for the food, which we really enjoyed. I had the mole poblano over chicken breast and it was delicious, with a wonderful depth of flavor. We also asked for homemade hot sauce and that was tasty with a good level of spice. I'm taking a star off for the service. When we sat down, we asked for waters and the waiter shook his head and said "no water". We thought he was joking, but he never brought the water. We had to ask twice more before he brought it, and then he only brought water for 2 of us, not all 4 of us. We had to ask yet again for the 2 other waters. He also tried to consistently upsell us into larger alcoholic drinks, which was annoying. I asked for a small margarita and he said they didn't have any glasses for the small size. They shouldn't offer it as an option, then. I would return for the food but would probably not order any alcohol due to them pushing larger and stronger drinks all the time. read more

Stopped in after work with a co worker for a quick drink and appetizer. We were the only ones there at 3:30. We were greeted by a lovely gentleman who seemed to be also the bartender and the waiter. We ordered 2 margaritas, I had a skinny margarita and my friend had a spicy one. They came out on these huge glasses and were beautifully prepared, and delicious!!! He also brought out chips and salsa. Both were fabulous. Chips were not salted, which I love and the salsa was fresh and by far the best I've had. We ordered a steak quesadilla and nachos! Absolutely DELICIOUS. I got the chicken enchiladas with salsa verde and my partner had the taquitos al pastor with mole. He said it was the best mole he's had in years. For drinks, my partner had a huge, incredible looking (and, he said, incredible tasting) spicy margarita and I had a virgin pina colada. I'm in month 8 of a very nauseous pregnancy, and believe me when I tell you that virgin pina colada was HEAVEN. Great decor, very nice staff. Saw all of the great reviews so I was looking forward to trying this restaurant. Unfortunately it didn't turn out well. I ordered a veggie fajita that was served with season-less, watery (obviously frozen) broccoli, pepper and carrots without tortillas or side-fixings. Only after asking for the tortillas and fixings did they bring them out, 1 plate with guacamole, pico, and sour cream. That's it. Very disappointing. They were not the typical sizzling fajita veggies you would expect. The waiter only checked on my table when I turned to look for him. When he asked how things were, I politely let him know 'not so great' and there was no response or concern. I asked for the check. There were only 2 other diners. It was on New Year's Day. Maybe this place has been impacted by Covid circumstances...so maybe it was an isolated bad experience. But my meal was bad and the service was careless. I went with a party of five and at the end he only gave me one copy of the receipt. The one that doesn't show that the tip has already been added. They have a lunch menu with chicken mole poblano and chicken ajillo. Both were flavorful. Service by Guillermo was excellent. The all day HH at the bar is nonexistent, and website not updated. I wish their food was a little more authentic. I am sure Mexicans in Mexico do not get served chicken breast ( the least flavorful part of the chicken), only Americans who don't know better want chicken breast. Turkey with mole please! We took a long day hike and were famished after. We decided on El coyote, and it was the best choice!! My boyfriend and I split a large margarita (they have different sized Margs, which is great). We had some issues with our reservation (I don't think anyone actually wrote it down and it seemed to be a theme for that night) so we had to wait 30 minutes. BUT, the food was delicious and worth the wait. Everything we had was enjoyed by all of us. The salsa was delicious. We started with guacamole, empanadas and a chicken quesadilla. The chicken empanadas were SO good. For dinner we had seafood paella, arroz con pollo, chimichangas and enchiladas. The portions were plentiful with extra for take home.
