Pizza & tacos
Tiana G.

New to town but a huge street taco fan so decided to step in. First look at the outside we realized there's a pizza place in there too - Roman's! Best of both worlds. We stopped in on a Thursday night and were the only ones dining in, but both the pizza owner and taco owner blew us away with service. Kind and attentive and making sure we were accommodated! Onto the food - we ordered: - (Free) Chips + salsa - Guacamole - Birria tacos w/rice and beans - Al pastor tacos w/rice and beans - small pizza, half cheese/half pepperoni The tacos were exactly what we pictured and super tasty. They came with two hot sauces, a more mild green, and a chipotle red. Rice and beans were seasoned well The guac was some of the best we had in awhile and lastly, the pizza. Almost a classic bar pie. Tasted fresh, the dough has good taste on its own, and the sauce was bright and flavorful. We will be back - and you should be too!

For…read moreits location and its exterior, I was pleasantly surprised by its cleanliness, menu selection and that it has a rewards program and online ordering. Their menu includes tacos, quesadillas, chili, bowls, nachos, salads and of course burritos. They have a good selection of options, and a few for vegetarians and vegans. You order at the counter and then take a seat. They give you free chips and salsa at the salsa bar (the latter of which was basically 4 options). The food (fish burrito and chicken tacos) was satiating but not very flavorful (the burrito could have been helped with some cheese, spices, avocado and seasoning on the fish and the chicken in the taco was shredded and dry); the burrito portions were generous, even for the small burrito. On the plus side, I didn't get super thirsty from super salty food. Bring cash because there's an almost 4% fee on credit card purchases. Small parking lot out front but not sure if most people would dine here. The bathroom was also very clean. They seem to do a healthy takeout and delivery business, with free delivery to certain local spots.

So chilly that Juanita was wearing a Winter knit hat the whole time I was there. The prices are OK. Some things seem very reasonable yet other things make no sense - like having to pay a pretty penny for Chips and Salsa. Being that every Mexican restaurant gives you chips and salsa for free, it's odd to have to pay for it. Not being offered water, and having to pay for a bottle water is also a bit lame. As for the food. I got a veggie burrito. It was OK. A nice mix of veggies. Not overly flavorful but not bad either. The close out this lackluster lunch was someone presenting me with a credit card reader. I was never shown a bill, just a card reader with the total on the screen - not cool and a tad rude. Being that they oddly left the handheld device with me I toyed around with it to find a screen readout with the itemized bill - which was correct - but I really shouldn't have to take their word that the bill is correct. I really wanted to like the place but I left wondering what all the hype is about. Reading someone say that this was the best Mexican food they've ever had makes me think that they either haven't eaten at more than 3 or 4 Mexican restaurants in their life or they're pulling our leg.

It's a really big space with lots of seating both at the bar and tables. There was music playing and the vibe was lively but not too loud. Service was really quick! Felt like our food order came out in like 5-10 mins tops and everything came out hot and fresh. Our server was Adrian Q. and he was friendly and knowledgeable of menu items. Adrian gave us a complimentary drink at the end- warm red wine. And no I don't mean room temperature, I mean actually heated with steam coming out. It was at first because I've never heard of that but it actually wasn't bad and was kind of like a palate cleanser. Drinks: We both opted for the large coyote-rita with don julio for $34.50. I had the passion fruit and she had the tamarind. Both flavors were really good and I was surprised that the tamarind was not overly sweet. The drinks packed a good punch so I would say it's worth the price. Food: we started with the calamares frito, Yuka fritas, and alitas de pollo. The yuka fritas were really good, the calamari was ok, seems like it was frozen but the sauces that came with it were amazing, especially the green sauce, and the wings were good but nothing special. For entrees, I had the quesadilla de camarones and she had the enchiladas. The quesadilla was amazing! Loved every bit of it. It had pieces of shrimp inside as well as whole shrimps on the top in a creamy sauce. It also came with rice and beans which were also good. My friend enjoyed her enchiladas. It's her favorite thing there. This place is very far from (like 2 hours) but would def visit again when I'm in the area.

People in the area clearly knew that this was the place to be and I felt lucky to be able to get a table right away! To be honest, I was still pretty full from breakfast that day so I wasn't able to truly enjoy as much as I'd have liked to, but between my husband and I we got 2 of the mushroom & shishito tacos, he got the cauliflower taco, and we shared the mushroom taquitos and a small guacamole and chips. This was the perfect amount for us as we needed what was basically a snack then. I wish I had more room to stuff in another mushroom & shishito taco because it was pretty darn phenomenal. The restaurant was on the water and the view was pretty phenomenal as well. You could tell it was a big draw for the restaurant itself and I hope to be back one day!

The menu consists of different taco selections along with bowls. The bowls come with your choice of rice or quinoa. Ordering your food is different. You order per table. The plates are small so if you are getting tacos you can mix whatever kind you want. Typically for 1 person is about 3-5 tacos. I tried the guacamole which was brought out with chips that resembled a tostado. The chips were big and crispy and the guacamole was delicious. We tried the beef empanada and that was really good. So flavorful. I also had the Korean BBQ short rib bowl with brown rice. It was excellent . It had some spice to it and sweetness from the sauce. My sister-in-law in law had one of the drinks. I can't remember the name and she also had the General tso's chicken bowl which she said was spicy but very good. I will definitely be back again and for sure will try the tacos! If your in the area of Newburgh check them out!
