There came be a bit of a wait but they have great local craft beers to keep the vibes up! Love their oatmeal stout and the peanut butter stout. The nutrunner pale ale was another favorite of our group. The food is also great, definitely recommend the Cuban, the buffalo bleu burger, and the fish and chips! You can't go wrong with anything for the menu though and the prices are great! Very kid friendly with wood blocks and other toys they can play with. There is however just one thing about it which rankles, and makes me less likely to return. Namely: The staff seem to have been instructed to demand aggressively that you pay up front--or swipe your card before you've even been served. Even if you're sitting at the bar (not outside). Problem 1: Tips should be based on the service rendered. I can't know what the service was like until we're done. So that forces patrons to choose the "run a tab" option even if just dropping in for one beer. Problem 2: This policy feels needlessly suspicious and hostile, as if USB doesn't trust their (almost exclusively well-heeled) clientele to pay. And this isn't some busy NYC bar where people occasionally walk on tabs. And bowhere else I've been in Hudson does this. If Governor's or Padrona tried it, regulars would look at the server like an extraterrestrial. Management might want to take a chill pill and try trusting their patrons more; Hudson is still a small town. Take the order, do a good job, give us a bill when we're ready... All were delicious and well executed. We ordered two small plates to share and wasn't disappointed. Mediterranean salad and burrata flatbread was yummy. The beers are excellent and the service top notch. The tasting room is lovely looking at the fermentation tanks and buzzing with patrons who enjoy some solid brews.

These days, it feels like every bar has a cocktail menu full of creatively named drinks that require reading a list of ingredients just to figure out what you're ordering. At Governor's Tavern, if you want a gin and tonic, you simply ask for a gin and tonic. The only decision you need to make is which gin you'd like. I'm not much of a cocktail person, but I appreciate that not every place feels the need to reinvent the wheel. The place was packed at lunchtime, but we got lucky and grabbed a pair of seats across from the bar. The server who I quoted was genuinely friendly and welcoming. I ordered a Guinness, but unfortunately the keg had just kicked. She recommended the Samuel Smith chocolate stout instead and even brought me a sample before I committed to taste since I never heard of it, which was a nice touch. For food, we ordered the State Grill burger and the Nashville Hot chicken sandwich. Both were excellent, and each came with Belgian-style hand-cut fries. If you're spending the day browsing the boutiques and antique shops along Warren Street and want a drink, a good meal, and a lively mix of locals and tourists, Governor's Tavern is worth a stop.

They let dogs inside which was especially nice during the winter. The food was really good as well. My husband enjoyed his burger with chips and I enjoyed the French onion soup and hummus. I also really enjoyed my ginger kombucha! The staff was very welcoming and friendly. The only thing that could make this brewery even better would be a tv ;). Overall a great place. Will definitely come back when visiting the area again!!

The only thing is I wish there were a couple snacky options like fries or a side of the potato salad. The single stall bathroom was clean and spacious. Parking is a bit of a challenge, but you can park along the road and could drop off anyone who isn't comfortable walking. Would absolutely be back if we lived in the area!

The Cajun sauce was similar to buffalo but packed a better kick. We also ordered the Bavarian soft pretzels and garlic knots. The garlic knots were so light and fluffy and the marinara sauce was well seasoned and extra garlicky in flavor which we both enjoyed. The Bavarian pretzels were so good on their own they didn't even need the beer cheese or mustard dipping sauce. We were stuffed and did not have room for any more food. Can't wait to come back and check out the rest of the menu. Pricing is extremely reasonable as well.
