First thing you see pulling up to Subversive Brewing is gravel. A whole front lot of it. And behind that, those tall industrial beer tanks. The gravel path pulls you in towards their outdoor area with picnic tables under big black+white umbrellas and there's a tent with white lights that'll be straight-up cozy once the sun goes down. You order at the bar, keep a tab if you're settling in and grab one of those tall number poles so they know where to bring your food. Inside, it's all high-tops and a clear view of the tanks cranking out their beer. Even though I've never been a beer drinker, I didn't mind coming to Subversive B's. Their online menu looked promising especially their vegetarian options. Though it wouldn't hurt if they threw in some seafood options too- but hey. I aimed for the Mediterranean Platter but I was told they "were all out". Grilled cheese the way I noticed online? Nope. Not in here. At this point, I didn't know how else to feel but resorted to their sweet potato+black bean tacos with red onions and Cotija. They slapped actually. Hubs tore into his buffalo wings and these Bavarian pretzels that were ridiculously soft and addictive. He washed it down with an ale, I stuck with a canned Paloma that hit harder than expected. The service is nice. The menu situation? Kinda irritating. Between the "we're out" moments and the website vs. reality mismatch, it's hard not to feel a little side-eyed about it. But the vibe, outdoor lights, beer tanks if you're a beer drinker, gravel under your feet, it's got charm.

Awesome brewery with great food and atmosphere too! I visited on a Sunday night in the winter and was blown away with the ample outdoor space complete with fire pits and comfortable seating. It was so warm and cozy to sit outdoors, which was awesome. My boyfriend ordered a beer and I opted for the hot apple cider. We also ordered wings, which were absolutely delicious. You order at the bar and they give you a number if you order food. We were really impressed with their ample food menu and great selection of beers and non alcoholic options. Definitely a must visit in Catskill!

This brewery has great vibes! It's dog friendly outside, but with ample seating. I liked the riverboat Rickey, my husband liked their nitro dark ale. They do flights which is always a plus in my book. The food was outstanding, I loved my bacon burger and the fries were delicious. They had really good looking dipping sauces

A small inside but nice outdoor space that was pretty poppin on the Saturday we ventured over. The food and beer was a hit. Nice portion size. Being that the inside is so small it was kind of awkward that the one waitstaff would just be standing waiting by the kitchen(?) It helped to achieve quick service as he was just right there and but also made it feel like he was just watching us eat. I noted that they have a sign on the door to not bring dogs inside yet allowed several people to do so which was annoying. These were clearly not service animals as they were jumping on people and not obedient to their owners. All in all we would probably come back in warmer weather and try the outdoor space.

Such a cute spot. We drank some beers, some wines, had burgers, tacos, cheese boards. Lots of options for everyone. Definitely A cute brewery with lots of outdoor seating that is dog friendly.

Lucked out in rolling up just in time for trivia on Thursday at 630 (every other week? Would want to verify). Great space with indoor and outdoor (covered) seating. Food so good it feels like an injustice to call it "bar food". The spinach dip and fries were top tier. Great brews according to my partner, and for my sober azz a soda with bitters always works (also have sodas and spindrifts). Staff was friendly and trivia was truly a good time! Great host and reasonable questions.

A nice village hangout spot, with plenty of options for food, drinks, and patio seating, which I think is the best part! I had their pretty pink beer slushie, made from their Forbidden Fruit Black Currant Sour Ale, and a classic burger with fries. It's a good quality burger with crispy fries. On a warm night, the slushie was the perfect complement to the meal. For a brewery, there's a number of other stuff on the menu if you don't want a burger or need a vegetarian option. After my entire family's order, it didn't take long for all the food to come out. I did not mind enjoying the chill atmosphere and green surroundings while we waited. I'm very curious about how they chose the name for the brewery. (Sounds cool?) I can't wait to come back when I'm in the area!

    Delicious food and awesome beer!!!!

The restaurant was recommended by a local. We ordered the classic burger with the beer flight. Price point was pretty good for the amount of food and drinks we received. The food came out pretty quick and it was very filling. The cashier was very polite and helped us select our food. Certainly had a good overall experience. Pro tip: the burger taste better with ketchup.

A very welcoming spot right outside the main town area, with seamless indoor/outdoor picnic table seating and good and filling food. I enjoyed a lager with their buffalo chicken salad. Hubs enjoyed their buffalo sandwich with fries. Definitely recommend for a quick and delicious meal.

Quaint and small, this place is 100% New York State. Outdoor seating with propane fires, and indie bar seating with a full menu.

Found this place while in the area for garlic fest. Cozy atmosphere. There's seating outside with fire pits and picnic type tables around where live music is preformed. Definitely nice for a date, guys or girls night out. It just happened to be Oktoberfest the day my friends and I came. They offered an Oktoberfest menu for food. Not sure what the food offerings are otherwise as I didn't see another menu. For my beer I went with the local lager. It was light and an easy drinking beer. Their pour sizes are different...7.5 oz, 13 oz or 18 oz. Prices were decent as well. It was $10 for an 18 oz pour. I would be back if I'm ever in the area again.

"We don't have a cocktail menu, but we can make anything you'd like."…read more That was one of the first things our server told us, and honestly, it was refreshing. These days, it feels like every bar has a cocktail menu full of creatively named drinks that require reading a list of ingredients just to figure out what you're ordering. At Governor's Tavern, if you want a gin and tonic, you simply ask for a gin and tonic. The only decision you need to make is which gin you'd like. I'm not much of a cocktail person, but I appreciate that not every place feels the need to reinvent the wheel. The place was packed at lunchtime, but we got lucky and grabbed a pair of seats across from the bar. The server who I quoted was genuinely friendly and welcoming. I ordered a Guinness, but unfortunately the keg had just kicked. She recommended the Samuel Smith chocolate stout instead and even brought me a sample before I committed to taste since I never heard of it, which was a nice touch. For food, we ordered the State Grill burger and the Nashville Hot chicken sandwich. Both were excellent, and each came with Belgian-style hand-cut fries. If you're spending the day browsing the boutiques and antique shops along Warren Street and want a drink, a good meal, and a lively mix of locals and tourists, Governor's Tavern is worth a stop.

Shared an OG Chicken Sandwich $13. It was buttermilk fried chicken with tomato and lettuce on a roll. Sandwich was pretty tasty. Service was just average. Otherwise, I would've given it four stars. Only a few people appear to have ordered food here. Basically, the place appears to be a watering hole. Only app.metered parking in the area.

There is however just one thing about it which rankles, and makes me less likely to return. Namely: The staff seem to have been instructed to demand aggressively that you pay up front--or swipe your card before you've even been served. Even if you're sitting at the bar (not outside). Problem 1: Tips should be based on the service rendered. I can't know what the service was like until we're done. So that forces patrons to choose the "run a tab" option even if just dropping in for one beer. Problem 2: This policy feels needlessly suspicious and hostile, as if USB doesn't trust their (almost exclusively well-heeled) clientele to pay. And this isn't some busy NYC bar where people occasionally walk on tabs. And bowhere else I've been in Hudson does this. If Governor's or Padrona tried it, regulars would look at the server like an extraterrestrial. Management might want to take a chill pill and try trusting their patrons more; Hudson is still a small town. Take the order, do a good job, give us a bill when we're ready... After the drinks and food are finished.

All were delicious and well executed. We ordered two small plates to share and wasn't disappointed. Mediterranean salad and burrata flatbread was yummy.
